Disappointed by the trivial challenge?
No. Disappointed that all it takes is gold and a random roll. I’d prefer if it was tied somehow to the Bell Choir mini-game, too.
Here is the applicable excerpt from the Guild Wars 2 Naming Policy:
“. . . The guidelines listed below outline the types of names that you can NOT use, and apply to player, character and/or guild names..
We do not permit names that:
. . .
Reference names of copyrighted or trademarked characters, materials, or products.
Use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the above rules.
. . ."
You may not agree with ArenaNet’s choices in what it allows for names on its servers. We’re second-guessing when we talk about why the rule on copyrighted characters, materials, or products exists. The problem is that the name violates ArenaNet’s naming policy. It doesn’t have to actually be illegal (by violating copyright law, for example) for ArenaNet to declare it unacceptable.
As Michael referred to, it’s likely you need to change away from such a direct “Soylent Green” name derivative because of copyright.
Once Tixx has visited all of the cities and reaches Lion’s Arch, you can play through the dungeon of any of the cities that you missed, and receive the rewards the first time through.
My impression is that you only get the rewards the first time you play through each dungeon. I expect that to still be true once Tixx is in LA. (You won’t get the rewards a second time if you re-play one you’ve already finished.)
Could we please be given the criteria for receiving a chest now? I did my absolute best to complete as much of the weekend as possible (including spending a long time trying to stop people from attacking the guy in Caledon to let the bugged event reset), but I live in Europe and wasn’t able to attend the final event due to commitments elsewhere (I have even more sympathy for those in Asia and Australia). I’m glad ANet have put so much effort into fixing this, but we still don’t know who should/shouldn’t have the chest apart from they are the ones who ‘deserve’ or ‘qualify’ for it.
I can at least give my personal experience…
The one-time “event” was actually a series of events. I believe it started with protecting an NPC demolition squad in Bakestone Caverns. Once done, another event started that led to a different area of the map where there was an Ancient Karka. The overall goal was to get it back to the nesting grounds. There were several steps to doing this: try to bring a tree down on it, defeat the reinforcements it calls, uncover steam vents, trigger a rockslide, defeat reinforcements again, explode the blocked gas vents. Finally, an event started to kill the Ancient Karka itself. Again, there are several steps: destroy the webbing on the explosives, chase the Ancient Karka, destroy the webbing again, kill the Karka! It is after this very last step that there was a chest.
I participated in the event to protect the demolition squad, and in part of the event to get the Ancient Karka back to it’s nest. I never made it to the final event in the series to kill the Ancient Karka.
I received a chest in the mail. So, either there was a bug that let me get the chest, or participating in the initial part of the series the way I did qualifies to get one.
1. Thread is over 1 month old.
2. I LOVE that there is down-leveling in this game. OP, if you still want to be rid of it—why?
I didn’t level so I could be some super-hero with no more challenge in all of the zones I haven’t explored, yet. I leveled because that’s what happens when you play. I like that there is still some challenge to the lower level zones as I discover them and complete more hearts. I’d be bored if I could just one-shot everything.
And as others have said, the loot scales now; at least the random loot does. And with level 80 feats and yellow gear, I am rarely at risk of dying. Level-appropriate content is definitely more difficult than down-leveled content.

95%, looks like intermittent connection errors are gone.
75%, intermittent connection errors still occurring. Download speed crawling when connected. Server must be busy.
38%. Still getting intermittent connection errors.

Midnight PST would be the 23rd not the 22.
No. 24:00 (midnight) belongs to the 22nd. 00:00 (midnight) belongs to the 23rd. The instant that is midnight belongs to both days.
Chiming in to say I agree with the OP, too. There doesn’t have to be a loss of epic-ness. The personal storyline has already introduced me to a whole band of Heroes who can help to make the battle feel epic. Having random players suddenly show up in the story (by forming a PUG), or even having guildmates suddenly show up will break the continuity and immersion a lot more than having an epic ending with the same folks who have been involved in the last few stories. I love how I can bring along other players into my storyline—or not—before this point. This flexibility has made playing through the story more fun than a one-size-fits-all path.
I’m in a guild, but we’re not all ready to finish our story lines. Apparently, I got lucky and was able to just walk up to the Arah gate / dungeon entrance area on my first try. So, I have the waypoint, but I’m not going to join or form a PUG.
As for being social, I love the fact that I don’t have to group to do epic things. World bosses, dynamic events—I participate in nearly every one of these I see. We help each other out and celebrate a victory with no need to group, and none of the potential baggage and un-fun moments PUGs can bring. One of the best things about the GW2 world for me is that I can be social and helpful and helped without strings attached. With PUGs, there are strings, and handing strings to strangers does not always result in a good time had by all. I’m not intending this to come across in a mean way. Folks with the best intentions but different play styles can make things un-fun for each other. I’d love to see the personal story completion changed to one that I can do on my own terms—with or without other players.
Same here. And it’s not a new bug; it was broken weeks ago in Moriarty’s Hold on server Crystal Desert. Breaking a bottle of ale on them gets a brief reaction, but it doesn’t manage to wake them up, either.
The only dungeon I’ve done is AC in story mode. We finished it, but there were some long frustration-filled segments. Lovers was our bane.
I agree with the OP. It would be nice if the level 30 dungeon story eased you into dungeons a bit. It was quite a shock after the world of hearts and events and even world bosses. It makes sense for explorable mode to be tough; it makes sense for later dungeons to be tough. I’d like to see this one start easier in story mode, building up to hard, then let the explorable versions equal the challenge of later dungeons.
I go with Earth 3 (still working on this one, but that’s where I’m headed), Water 3, 10, 11, and Arcana 5, 8, 11. I see that both of you have Water 5 – does this mean when you attune to Water you remove 2 conditions from yourself and allies? Water 5 removes one, and the Arcana 5 + Water 11 removes another?
I’m loving the staff build. I don’t solo much in PVE, so the combo-heavy staff really pays off for me. Not only do I get my soloable combos, but my duo / party / allies build on them, too.

Fundamentally, the problem is that for pve, everyone in one zone wants to lump together (cultural, time zone, language reasons). This runs counter to how WvW is suppose to work. WvW works best with a uniform distribution of different time zones on a server.
I agree with the above. People are not going to spread out over time. There are unofficial timezone-based servers because that leads to more fun in PvE. It didn’t happen by accident. And while you may call it planning, I think it was planning around PvE, not WvW.
WvW needs something changed if this is going to be addressed. Simply waiting will fix nothing.
We change attunements on the fly during battle, not weapons. You’ll have to wait until you are out of combat to switch weapons.
…
One thing I would really like to know though is… If two people have the same exact storyline and party to complete them, will they still get bugs? Have those bugs (either skipping or changing story incorrectly) been fixed? We would love to complete our storylines together but have paused doing storylines until this is without a doubt fixed.
There is an update on the original bug in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/story/Personal-Story-with-friend-Progress-cooperatively/266044.
“Without a doubt”? That’s tougher. Bugs are usually unknown until somebody stumbles over one.

Jeffrey provided an update for affected characters in another thread today: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Did-Part-of-Your-Story-Get-Skipped-or-Changed-Post-here/276690
Thanks, Jeffrey.
Hmmm, I missed that in the patch notes.
Is there a plan to address the affected characters?
Yes, but there is a bug that affects some characters doing this. One of their storylines skips ahead by as much as 18 levels. See: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Did-Part-of-Your-Story-Get-Skipped-or-Changed-Post-here/first
One thing that appears to be a common theme is that at least one person is sharing the storyline/story instance when this happens.
Yes, you are not supposed to see the item in the Discovery pane if you have already discovered all of the recipes it is in. There are no more discoveries to make with it, so it no longer shows up. Discovered recipes are saved in the Production tab of the crafting station window.
To make more of a recipe you previously discovered, go to the Production tab, click on the name of the recipe that you learned previously, and click the Craft button.

Affected character: Vulpeus
World: Crystal Desert
Instance owner: Oemen
Organization: Drumand priory
Quest before skip: A Meeting of the Minds (level 30)
Quest after skip: On Red Alert (level 48)
Instance owner did not skip. Oemen went from A Meeting of the Minds to Dredging up the Past.
Vulpeus chose to accept the choices and progress while in Oemen’s instances.
