Gold-Fed Upgrade Extractor. I’d be up for that.

^ This.
In my opinion this should be a free feature on legendary weapons (seeing as legendary stats swaps are useless without free upgrade change), but since we don’t have that we could have something that extracts upgrades at a reasonable price (and not the equivalent of 50 or 100 gold).

Hell, for all I care, the extracted runes, sigils (as well as items that have been extracted from) could turn account bound to avoid “free” try.

Is begging "legal"?

Jitsuryoku.9038

I feel practice (described below) might get popular, so I wanted to know if begging (by PMing everyone you see, much like gold sellers) is considered legal in here or is it considered offense (reportable as a scam)?

I am standing in pvp loby, chatting and waiting for a match, I am whispered by some random person asking for gold. Okay, nothing new for an MMO, new people join and some want help; existing players ask sometimes too, so I thought it’s fine.
I few matches later I get that very same message again and as it turns out so did some of my guildies, who were in pvp lobby.

If this was the first time I probably wouldn’t care, but it’s the 3rd within last 2 or 3 weeks and the repeated message leads me to believe those guys are PMing everyone. Messages are different, but it always says something in lines of “I am new, give me gold.”. All accounts were different, but had ~400-500 AP. And neither replied to suggestions to actually earn gold.

Twist/lean at least a little bit towards the direction of movement and possibly not have the arms in that stiff pose.

That thing has animations that do not fit in the game (IMO). It’s like they took a default model (in default state), leaned to forward a little bit and added that electromagnetic gliding effect…. That’s it a stiff character in exact same position regardless of which way you are moving. It looks as if they forgot to implement the animation….. Anyways, look for yourselves:

I COULD explain anything you want to know in text (or even in voicechat) if you contact me in game (mostly during evenings), but I’m probably not going to abandon 1 team to rush to you and help you use those few hours you have constructively.

A bunch of us started a PvE raiding guild, but due to lack of interest in raids (even with 50+ people who joined for raids) the raids were canceled and guild is being re-purposed as a PvE / PvX.

The general idea is to create a friendly learning environment for most end game content. So if you are looking to do Dungeons, Fractals or other content that requires mid sized group, it’s probably a guild for you.

What we plan to do:

  • Guild missions (absolutely happening)
  • Dungeons (on request, not pre-organized)
  • Fractals (on request, not pre-organized)

The other group activities are open for discussion.

Requirements for joining players:

  • HoT expansion.
  • European players (or players in similar time zones) are preferred, so we don’t have the guild separated into 2 groups that would only see each other during all-nighters. Although, if you REALLY want to join, you’re welcome.

We are looking for:

  • Communicative people are always appreciated (dead chat sucks).
  • Players who want to play or learn the end game content (PvE at the moment).
  • Officers, who could help recruit people.

Guild permissions for Decorations and Scribe

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

So I just decided to get a few XP in Scribing, crafted basic items, bought basic decoration and got unpleasantly surprised when I found out that the leader switched permissions to use resources off….

Am I the only one who thinks that items you pay for should be available to you or not for sale at all?

Anyways, I think one of the following rules should be implemented:
A. Vendors do not sell decorations you cannot use to craft.
B. Account Bound, possibly “Guild Bound” (something new that could be implemented) version of the item is placed into your inventory, which you are then free to craft with or deposit to guild bank.
C. Some kind of message explicitly stating that the buyer cannot use the item if he/she doesn’t have the permissions.

On another note, the shops selling decorations probably need a warning stating that all decorations go to guild storage and not inventory.

Best CPU?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

overclocking is effective for amd but not so for intel, there isn’t a noticeable difference when u oc intel for gw2

If you have a CPU that meets recommended system requirements you should feel no change at all – intel or amd. If your AMD cpu shows a performance boost in GW2 when overclocking then either your cpu is slow to begin with or it’s too loaded by other programs.

The topic author is running a 4 core i5 at 3.7ghz (default clock). I’m surprised anyone even considers suggesting he actually overclocks or upgrades to improve GW2 performance….

Until recently I was running a somewhat old i7 2.4GHz and GW2 showed no significant performance difference when i switched to a 4.0ghz default clock (no change in settings and settings were in medium range – not the highest).

Best CPU?

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

Hey Guys,

I know GW2 doesn’t use a CPU’s entire potential, so I want a beefed up CPU that will give me the highest upkeep of FPS. I’m tired of turning my camera and experiencing FPS stutter because the cpu isn’t being fully utilized.

S/n: My motherboard is a Z97

Just to point out few things you may or may not know.

1) If your CPU is not being fully used it’s usually because
—-A. CPU overheats (or reaches temps that are close to manufacturer defined maximum) and maximum frequency usable by CPU is limited by drivers and software on your PC.
—-B. GW2 has no use for more CPU power. Seeing what your current CPU is this is probably the case.
2) Most graphical problems you will find can be traced back to Graphics Card. (seeing as you say yours is already 980ti you should probably post the other PC specs)
3) It’s REAAAAALY hard to tell something based on CPU alone. If you’re having problems I highly doubt it’s caused by CPU alone (Unless you’re one of those people who overclock everything without proper cooling and expect it will work out, in which case it may have degraded)

I’ll help you decide somewhat easily.
Character slots are 130g-150 right now (converting gold to gems).

Whatever you decide both characters are fun and either way you can get the other one by just playing long enough.

Only thing you might care to know is revenant is somewhat lacking until elite specialization. Not to say it’s unplayable, but normal specs only seem good for utility skills, but herald makes solo gameplay so much smoother.

I have not been playing for terribly long, but if I saved up all my gold since the day I started, I would probably have enough for a precursor.

If you really haven’t been playing long and you saved all your gold since you started you would probably have 1 lvl 80 cleric exotic and 3 lvl 78 exotics with carrion and assassin’s stats and the other items would be rares with random stats.

That aside a lot of legendaries need at least 1 crafting at…. 400+ I think, which, at current prices coupled with second part of legendary would cost you probably double or tripple of the precursor (which is much harder to farm now).

Even though I think only about half of that story is true I agree, participation should not be bound to specific instance, especially considering how common map and client crashes and DCs are. I had multiple occasions where I was standing still in GW2, waiting for meta to start, and got DC out of the blue.
I’ve got 2 other game clients running most of the time and they very unstable on laggy connections, yet they remain online.

Anyways, I think participation should be an account and not a map thing and it should just degrade faster while offline.

Alternatively, keep the map slot reserved for like 20 seconds so people have a chance to get back into the same map.

Dear sir or maddam,
I just want to inform you that you are reading (quoting actually) a part of arcticle that is talking about stealing happiness (a.k.a Relative happiness, as well as few other names). That’s a thing, by the way.

If you want to go overly philosophical about this: Mass, fame, wealth and many other things tend to accumulate around it self (as in mass attracts other mass, famous get more chances to acquire more fame, rich get more opportunities to get more money).

I guess the 2 things I’m trying to say here is:

1. Regardless how much money you give to the poor they will remain poor. Same as regardless of how many features or free money anet releases people who were unhappy before will remain unhappy. People that are already happy will stay happy.

2. The phenomenon of stealing happiness cannot be nullified it can only be countered. Happiness is relative to other people’s happiness and only way for “many” to be happier is for “more” to be sadder.

Both are proven phenomenon and both put together imply that making majority happy is physically impossible.

How to make Gold

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

You were never meant to get a legendary by PLAYING. The idea was for you to buy gems, convert to gold and THEN buy precursors from people who were lucky enough to get it.

Silverwastes, champ trains and other farming methods were kind of like bugs that they didn’t expect to happen and they are fixing them by making each of the farmable items much more common to the point where their value is too low for anyone to consider farming.

That aside, you can now farm gold by flipping items on the market, doing fast fractals for chance of exotics and lodestones and….yeah that’s it… That’s all i know. Look up the specifics yourself.

Now go and flip the market to the point where nothing is affordable! I can’t wait until this economy crashes.

64 bit client uses too much memory.

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

I think this ram usage is just memory/resources that don’t get deallocated on time. I am just reporting it as a problem, it’s up to Anet to decide if it’s a valid problem or in fact an expected behavior. Also, If you are going to dismiss it, at least give some reasoning that’s not a paraphrased quote of the FAQ.

Having access to more memory doesn’t automatically double memory usage (although it does double size of pointers in the program)

I guess I’ll point out why I think it’s more of a bug, than normal 64 kittenaracteristic:
-launcher takes ~300mb, I’m sorry, but this alone is a point worth investigating. I have never seen a splash screen that uses 300mb.
-I believe I already mentioned I’m not running any high settings (That means textures are not the biggest ones and processing power required isn’t very high).
-The actual game goes up to 6gb. Again, I’m not playing on ultra HD and as far as I remember few other games ever went past 4gb.
-I never once crashed on 32bit nor 64bit clients and I’ve played lots. Seeing how people cried about how they crashed when someone on another map farted I think it’s safe to assume the amount of memory I have is enough to use with my settings and PC.

My opinion is as it is, because it is not “normal” for an application to jump from 2-3 to 5-6gb on identical settings, just because it switched to 64 bit, unless it actually uses all that memory. In other words unless assets and logic of a single HoT map take up 5-6GB the memory consumption shouldn’t be that high.

Do the math: the game data file was ~20gb (lots of which is graphical data, which bypasses ram completely as far as I know) , and before expansion the game was stable at 1-2gb memory usage. Now the file is 25gb, in other words 5gb larger, which means the assets for the 4 maps (Among other things) can only take up to 5gb. Let’s say 1.25gb / map. If I was playing with part of 1 Tyria map AND a full HoT map at peak ram usage should be ~3.3gb. Even if half of the expansion was loaded loaded at the same time (which should never happen) the ram usage should peak at old RAM usage +2.5gb (4.5gb). But it never stops there.

Basically what I’m trying to say, I think 64bit new client uses the new memory reserve, but only deallocates it when it is filled.

64 bit client uses too much memory.

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

To put it bluntly, 64 bit launcher alone takes about 280-320mb of ram.
During game-play it takes every last bit of ram it can take as far as I can tell. I’m getting a little performance boost (5fps on an average) after startup, but in time it is lost as ram usage jumps from ~2-3GB (that I usually get on 32 bit) to 5GB+ on 64 bit client.

By the way it also produces a long-lasting lag. What I mean by that is the game will run fine, but closing or alt-tabbing out will lead lags that slow down the whole PC for ~5-30 seconds. Basically after switching out from gw2 client PC becomes unusable for a period of time.

In case someone’s curious I’m not playing with ultra settings and I’m playing on:
CPU: Intel i7-3630QM at 2.4GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: GeForce GTX 660m
OS: Win 7 (x64)

The one’s I’m stuck on (have been for last 2 days, so it’s not really that I just jumped in and expect to PRO the adventure) require memorizing the spawning patterns. I can see why players who managed to get gold on these don’t want these nerfed, but then again, these give mastery points and if I counted correctly there are only 8 spare points (HoT) and if mini games are hard (I’ve got 5 that seem impossible to get gold on) then that doesn’t leave all that much room to miss other achievements (that by the way can be hard).
Idk, maybe we just need more spare mastery points in total list.

Or maybe I just need the kitten minigames unlocked so I can practice without waiting for an hour.

Advetures (minigames) - Rant / Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Jitsuryoku.9038

Jitsuryoku.9038

First and the biggest problem in my opinion is the fact you have to wait to play them. If you’re unlucky you might have to wait an hour in a fast progressing Verdant Brink map to even try playing the minigames.

Secondly, I haven’t seen all of them yet, but some of those minigames require too much dedication if you ask me.
A dude on youtube knows spawn locations for Shooting Gallery and still only makes gold with only 2 seconds leftover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FjaVIG-6Qc
It’s even worse with Fungus Among us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-bMXob1crY
Basically a dude hits every buff and takes fairly difficult shortcuts and finishes with 1 second to spare. (a little too close for all the complex moves he pulls).
Finally, highscores! Great idea, but….. how do you even check the full highscores…?

So for some of these you have to be a pro platformer and/or memorise the entire spawn pattern just to have a chance of being close to getting gold.

Anyway, I think these mini games should be enabled at all times and some of their difficulty adjusted a little bit to be possible without godly asian level skills.

ArenaNet is strictly a dev company, everything else is setup by ncsoft so ncsoft profits from gemstore and probably pays ArenaNet a set wage.

Gem store is just vanity and convenience and so far it hasn’t been very intrusive or “Buy to win” if you ask me. No overpowered pets, “bot” pets that do stuff for you, x5 exp or stuff like that.

The price for HOT stand alone ONLY is $50, that is the price of the expansion…. Ok, still following…… Base game is included free to make it easier for new players to get into, which is a good thing.

I still dont understand why so many arent paying attention and think they are buying the original and the expansion.. HOT cost $50, thats what your paying for.

Oh! So they said it’s free? I didn’t realize there are few thousands of people complaining on different language forums and nobody noticed that…… :0
Ever heard of…. marketing or economics?….. Cost distribution? No? Ok…. Just asking…..

50$ price is in fact is in fact a newbie deal which is designed to make people buy both at once, which means old people pay more than just for expansion, but that allows the price to be lowered for new players.

The cost for HoT should be:
-new people: core game 40$(?) +30$ (or so) for xpac
-old players: 30$ for xpac (obviously core game is already paid for)

To reduce cost of core game for new players they just distributed it among ALL existing and potential players:
-new people: 50$ (for portion of core game + xpac)
-old players: 50$ (for xpac + portion of new players’ core game) + whatever they already paid for the core game

At any rate, the idea itself might be fun, but I am sure we won’t see it any time soon. They are in development of HoT, also raids kind of imply a lot of new game assets which is a fair deal of work for little to no reward (for devs), unless it’s part of another expansion “Guild Wars 2 : The Sewers!”.

Why not? It’s a common argument that this a “normal price for expansion”. The prices are also same/cheaper, which they shouldn’t be considering HoT is not a standalone…

As for details….. yeah, gw2 looks better than gw1, but so far they haven’t shown much completely new content (using new textures and such) to make up for 10 times higher price / content unit ratio.

Relax people, if you find it too expensive just don’t buy it.

I find it expensive but not to a point where I would not buy it considering it’s pretty much the only game I play. I have high expectations however for 50$.

:0 Would you like this [Banana] for 20$?

Just like this [Banana] , for most of us it’s not that we cannot afford it. It’s just a horrible offer for the price.

Why is it so hard for you people to understand how badly Anet is handling this?

Because, generally speaking, people who come here cannot read and only come here to write. (a.k.a the zerg effect)

Why is it so hard to open your eyes for at least 2 seconds and understand why are so many players, or customers if you want, are upset about this?

Again, because it takes a certain amount of skill and time to read, it’s easier to just write.

Seriously though, majority of people get an opinion the moment they see the header – black or white, nothing in-between. When the argument starts and people start defending a point it gets harder and harder to see what the opposite side is saying.

It’s just phenomenon of self-powered density growth in people.

If people stop pre-ordering (a not hit their quotas in time), they might have to do something (like add a char slot or gems for char slot or such)
