There are enough people who dislike engis because they think they’re kitten… Given, those aren’t people you want to play with anyway, but random kicks for being engi are very possible.

Most people cant even dodge grubs. They probably wouldnt have dps gear either.

It would be really stupid for anet to change a boss which has been considered challenging and well designed for the last 2 years.

Same type of argument could be made about Malrona. She was in no way a pug killer, but every time I pug (and I do mean every time) none of the pugs bother paying attention to the poison mechanic. I would almost get cleansed as soon as it was applied. By no means do pugs bring meta setup to TA all the time, so the boss is generally never 1shot.

Yet, we get a nerf to projectiles out of thin air after the ranger vid. I wouldn’t bet on anet not making another knee-jerk decision on altering lupi bc of this.

I dont think Malrona’s projectiles got changed because of that ranger video, i think the change was because of that wurm boss where mesmers were one shotting it with feedback. ANet changed its projectiles and somehow it affected all the spider bosses that use projectiles (there are a few of then in Arah and so on).

Malrona was changed before that wurm was changed though I believe.

So, I got lucky and I actually managed to get Lupi down solo. Thankfully, he only dropped dome once and I was lucky enough to survive the rest of phase 3, although I panicked a bit and he ran off the wall. To be fair, I even think fighting him off the wall in phase 3 is actually a bit easier for me.

OP, I as well thought that this might be a troll thread, but looking at your past messages, I see that you’re totally serious. Arah is my playgroud, and I’d love to take you there and show you the ropes. I can make sure that you understand the mobs, the bosses, and pretty much all the encounters in the dungeon. If you want the dungeons to be easier, you have to practice them, and we teachers in [noob] are more than happy to help you learn, so you can get better and enjoy the funnest dungeon in the game (it really is the best this game has to offer. Lupicus is a brilliantly designed boss. The more you fight him, the more you’ll enjoy it) Put your name in the [noob] dungeon mentors thread and ask for someone to take you through!

I run a full Arah tour (paths 4-1) on Saturday, and some Sunday, mornings. I’d be happy to take you along!

If you do a lot of soloing, it is worth the investment in my opinion. Quicker kills are always worth it, especially if it’s for records.

Synk and PetStain, I have sent invites to both of you.

In a normal tour (AC 1/2/3, CM 1/2/3, TA Up/Forward, SE 1/3, CoF 1/2, HotW 1, CoE 1/2/3, Arah 1/2/3) you can earn 25g+ in roughly 4 hours which turns out to be 6-ish gold an hour. If you were doing a quick tour (AC 1/2, CM 1/2/3, TA Up/Forward, SE 1/3, CoF 1, CoE 1/3, Arah 1/2/3) it would be 20g+ in roughly 3 hours which turns out to be almost 7 gold an hour. Also remember the tokens in which you can turn them into gold as well.

Of course all this is based off of efficiency of the team. I don’t think you can farm that much gold an hour unless you get really lucky on drops in my opinion.

I’m sorry everyone. Really rough rl stuff. Gonna have to take a hiatus from teaching right now as well. I’ll be back soon though. I’m thinking of doing Arah weekends, doing 2 full tours on both Saturday and Sunday, hopefully accommodating any and all potential students/Arah runners.

I think it has something to do w/ the turret taking the stealth blast (I know it sounds weird). I have been having the same issue w/ doing this. I think you have to make sure that Detha is between your party and the turret, so this way it always stealths the closest target after your party.

I would like to take part of this as well as a mentor (non-arah) for NA.

When I worked on hosting worldwide competitive tournaments in Pokemon via simulator, I dealt with this sort of behavior far more than I would’ve liked. I found that viewer / player morale and excitement for the tournament was always better in the end if the tournament hosts focused on the positive and only called people out if rules were directly broken, and never with any emotion (just neutral judge-calling). That’s me, though, and I say this in the hopes of this sort of tournament growing into a bigger thing in the future.

Anyway, I won’t press the issue. Carry on!

I’ll agree with you there…but since this is the first tournament of this sort being held, the judges need to be more firm on the teams and rules so that it lays good groundwork for any future tournaments. I do believe this will grow to be a bigger thing in the future, it’s just the initial bumps and hurdles that have to be overcome and not only by the hosting guild but also us as well.

Some of us are looking at this as just another competition, others are looking at this as a way to baseline themselves and their guild, while others are just trying to break into this area of PvE.

Saturday will be a fun day for everyone participating as well as the people watching.

This sort of drop-out should be taken in stride, and then you move on. That’s it.

It would’ve been taken in stride if it was not for them feeling that they were entitled to a BYE. That is what differentiates their drop from the other teams that dropped. As already mentioned…it was not as if they were going up against another hardcore dungeon team (no offense to the other team of course).

Just think of the first round now as qualifying matches :P

Here is my Thief, Lucy Stormcrow. I have ended up spoiling her as she is the “youngest” of my three “mains”. I enjoy the look of the T2 set as it’s not as revealing as most of the other sets but still keeps it looking good.

I updated Lucy’s look. She is now in a more elegant set (no underboob here) of armor:

Here are my three “mains” that I use, the Stormcrows. Gambit (the Mesmer) was the first, made on the first day of Headstart. Edward (the Warrior and Gambit’s older brother) is “new” to the scene but he can hold his own better than most. Finally, Lucy (the Thief and youngest by both relation to the others as well as creation date) has been spoiled to no end. She will most likely be the receiver of the new legendary(ies) I craft. Just follow the meta build (30/25/0/0/15), and if you’re uncomfortable with Zerker (due to inability to dodge during the learning process) slap a bit of Knights in.

But you’re fooling yourself if 3/6 Knight pieces are going to make any difference to your survival, go 6/6 if you’re struggling or learning.

Just because it’s meta doesn’t mean it has to be used. I’m fine going all zerker…my mesmer is built that way and does a ton of damage. I like using this build as it allows me to support the team offensively and defensively. I can also take it into WvW very easy by just switching a few traits, or just respeccing in general since it only costs 3 silver.

So I think I have the build you might be looking for. I run this in PvE on a daily basis and it can also be adapted to WvW with minor modifications if you ever decide to do that. I do a very good amount of damage and am able to support the team. I run the following:

Traits
0/0/10/30/30
I in Defense
II, VIII and XII in Tactics
III, IV and XII in Discipline

Armor
Soldier’s with Runes of the Scholar

Weapons
All weapons are Berserker. The weapons with the Bloodlust Sigils are used to just build up stacks.
x1 Greatsword with Superior Sigil of the Night
x1 Axe with Superior Sigil of the Night
x1 Shield with Superior Sigil of Battle
x2 (Insert 1h weapons here, I use another Axe/Shield) with x2 Superior Sigils of Bloodlust

Trinkets
All Berserker

Healing Signet
For Great Justice
On my Mark (sometimes substituted for Banner of Discipline for more crit chance or Banner of Strength for more power)
Shake it off
Signet of Rage (or Battle Standard depending on the situation)

Took a 2 month break from the game late last year. Was burnt out (was maining Mesmer at the time). Came back late December and rolled a Warrior, second one as my first is a Charr. This character is roughly 40 days old and he is my “main” atm. I just got FSP and decided to reskin him. First three pictures show his current set of Ascended armor with a mix of skins. Last picture is him in his old set of exotic “trojan” armor that I still have. Just need to get him the Fiery Gladius now and I’ll be set!

My current Mesmer build. This is used for anything PvE, whether it is Dungeons, Fractals, or just throughout the PvE World. It is heavy DPS but has great survivability and team support.
