Anet, when you going to fix our bad pets?

in Ranger

JorneMormel.9850

I pretty much abandoned all hope of pets getting fixed. They are a fire-and-forget weapon in its’ current state and do not feel like a tool at your disposal as much as a hindrance to your profession. The old Quickening Zephyr made the pet somewhat more reactive because the Quickness boon helped getting off a pet F2 skill in an acceptable timeframe. Most pet F2 skills are simply inferior to the more commonly used pets and the few that are acceptable are plagued by bugs or poorly programmed pet AI.

Even after having said all that, they still contribute to the Ranger’s damage (yet the damage does not show on the combat log.) The best way to make pets work is to be as little dependant on them as possible and use them for the toolset a few useful pets bring (such as the Wolf’s F2.)

It is a shame, really. Thinking back: I was really excited about pets being integrated with the Ranger profession because in GW1 they were optional and only useful if you built your setup specifically around them (and even then you were giving up superior options for dependency on an NPC.) The one situation in which they shined was as fire-and-forget meat walls in Barrage/Pet teams. I guess I got my hopes up too much for thinking that mandatory pets made them synergize better with the profession.

Instead they became the once more intrusive fire-and-forget meat wall.

We are in need of a 3rd main hand weapon

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

How realistic is it to discuss weapons that have to be introduced the game first? For example the spear discussion; we have spears ingame. They are 2 handed underwater weapons.
How does that relate to a main hand weapon for ranger? If it were to be made a land weapon that would mean some serious design changes first. Point being; please keep this on topic. Discussing if more weapon types should be implemented would fit more in a different thread I think.

As for main hand weapons; we currently have the Sword, Axe, Dagger, Scepter, Pistol, Mace. Of that list I think only the Sword, Axe and Dagger suits the ranger.

Personally I think throwing daggers instead of throwing axes makes a lot more sense.
As does causing bleeding by throwing a lot of daggers at a person (current axe skill 2) and the axe would definately suit the ranger as a melee weapon.

As for the role of a third main handed weapon? More control and utility would be nice in the form of a blast finishing melee attack, boon denial for the old NR Tranq nostalgia and some type of movement to suit the weapon’s playstyle. What do you guys think?

What is the Ranger's role supposed to be?

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

It could be as a pet class, but if that’s their role they’ve failed horribly at it because the pet is more of a hinderance than a benefit and doesn’t really synergize well with the class like you’d expect.

You summed it up yourself quite nicely.

Sorry, but no it won’t :P

If you’re taking remorseless, you can’t get SotBM, meaning no SotW and SotH to buff up the first attack. At most, you can get +45% boost from traits/runes, which might be good as well, but definitely not as powerful as the 23k maul build.

That is why I called it a “fun option” and sustain rather than the burst from signets. I keep in mind that you will not be able to one shot people with it, but it would be much more interesting to focus on auto-crits with the longbow and greatsword rather than relying on precision. It also makes for fun teamplay with mesmers and thieves. I tried it before and had some fun with it but the bug really breaks the build.

Rename Barrage to Kamikaze

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

Retaliation currently punishes every class for using multi-hitting AoEs in a zerg. Mesmer Blurred Frenzy/Feedback (reflected projectiles count as yours), engi granades, even guardian Whirling Wrath can easily kill the user.

There needs to be some kind of internal CD to retal (like, you can’t get more than 5 ticks/sec from it) at least in WvW only. Won’t change anything for 1v1/smallscale but nerfs retal for zerg fights.

I have a few questions about this. Why nerf retaliation? As it stands now, it’s a mechanism to defend against AoE’s in larger group and it doesn’t affect AoE damage from siege weapons. So nerfing relatiation would only promote mindless spamming AoE’s instead of mindlessly spamming auto-attack. Also how else would you promote more active (small scale) play in WvW? As it stands now you either hold up in your tower and camp AC’s or go with the blob if you want to be succesful at higher tiers.

To me the only real problems with Barrage are the root in place and the last decrease in damage being too much.

Fixing this bug would open up some fun options for the 23k crit maul build (with auto-crits to sustain instead of signets to burst.)

RoF running away from ~ 10v7 odds (in their favor) isn’t much better…

I had so much fun last night to fight 10-12 Dzagonur players last night at Anzalias, I was on a suicide streak; so what happened was I rushed in solo and all Dzagonur players stacked on me. I died after tanking/baiting you guys for a fair bit, after which all the other 6 players from RoF had to do was spam their AoE’s in one spot. You guys really drop like flies!

I wish there were more small scale skirmages going on though, the biggest guild group I have had together this week was one full party. It becomes really dull to just PvD or pick off stragglers on the walls. And if we are not fighting over a structure, we are probably fleeing from an incoming zerg.

You guys should feel honored, I named my pet after you! (Dzergonur Arborblob)

Remember what Arenanet did to our pets?

JorneMormel.9850

Last state of the game video I watched it was mentioned that the pet would get no more control options because the skill curve would be too steep for new players. While Ranger is my profession of choice because I like to outplay enemies while having to maintain good situational awareness, I have mixed feelings about this one.
For one; it could mean the developers consider the pet control to be in good shape.

While I disagree, I tried to quit micromanaging my pet in WvW (non-zerg situations) and found it responded better in most situations. I hate playing as passive as that, but I hate it more when my pet does not respond to the command I give it. Let me explain:

F1: Apart from the horrible range I can use this at, by the time I use any attack on my target my pet will swoop in anyway so unless I had to make the pet target something different than me (which was not going to happen; if another target had priority, I’d switch target myself and if I had not pressed F1 my pet would follow me anyway.) It generally feels unresponsive and lackluster.

F2: Works occasionally, if the pet feels like it. If the pet does not cast the skill and I press it a second time in a short timespan, the skill goes on cooldown for a few seconds and simply does nothing. Rarely did I find this work “as intended.” The spider’s poison and the reef drake’s underwater combo field used to be instant cast before the last update, now I find the same thing happening so I switched back to my bird+wolf.

F3: Works better and generally faster than the other skills, unless the pet is using an attack animation at the time. Only a few times did I find this command ignored.

F4: My best pet management option for one reason only: it always casts instantaneously, and thus feels responsive.

That said, the pet feels like a fire and forget weapon because it is. Even if no more micromanagement options are added or no AI is improved, it would go a long way to atleast make the F1-F3 skills feel like they are making a difference. Instant cast time would at the very least make the pet commands feel as if they make you a better player if you learn how to use them.

I still think our current mainhand axe should have been a mainhand dagger.

“…ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!”

Throwing axes that bounce does not fit. “If Chewbacca lives on on Endor, you must acquit.”

By actually making daggers (with the current skillset for MH axe) a thrown weapon you open up the option of using a new one handed melee weapon: the axe.

For direct damage a good approach would be Knight’s armor with Berserker’s trinkets/amulets etc. *The ascended versions of those have the best critical damage % stat conversion…
Another good option for a more bunker-type playstyle is cleric’s armor instead of knight’s.

Remember that toughness is better than vitality in zerg runs as the water fields will be what heals you; the less damage you get, the less finishers you need to get back to full health. Vitality works against that somewhat…

As for the sword; it’s my favorite weapon in WvW! As long as you know how to use it without enabling the auto-attack it is one of your best options. Just make sure you have some alternative weapons on the side and switch around as you encounter different situations.

Unparalleled doesn’t mean unique.

It means – not paralleled; unequaled or unmatched; peerless.

The Ranger’s ability to wield both types of bows is unmatched.
So what other profession can use 2 types of bows? None – there is no equal.

All I said was it has not been confirmed by devs what is meant with “unparralleled archer”. If you use it as an argument that Rangers should have the best bow abilities; I say it holds no ground. Sure Bows are the Ranger’s signature weapon from GW1, that does not make it more effective in this game. They are the GW2 ranger’s signature weapon only because it is the only class that can use both bows.

Mind you; I base my claims on findings ingame (Ranger bows being sub-par and it being the only profession that can wield both bow types) rather than base my claims on how I would want the game to be. Comparing GW1 to GW2 is kind of pointless as it is a different game.

The gear depends entirely on the build you would want to run. As for where to get it; there are many options. Your best bet would be to look at the wiki and pick the easiest option for you to get the armor.

Having said that; look around for builds you would find fun. It would help if you would list the weapons you want to use…

I just find it funny ANET believes 3 Stacks of Bleed == 3 stacks of Vuln

It increases damage to your whole team!!!!!!!lol i love when people say this as if you had a team with you permanently everywhere you go use dat Maul on…

Well you do have a pet with you at all times, the bleed damage was direct, but atleast vunerability affects your pets’ damage too.

Still 3 stacks is underwhelming, even if you manage to hit multiple targets with it.

Still if you traited for traps (which most “trap builds” do…) it is not hard at all to use Spike Trap as a ground targetted AoE. And its’ strength is also in that it applies all conditions at once, making it harder to cleanse.

Also if you consider it to be no trap because it only affects the first target that enters it; take a look at thief traps.

And yeah I agree; Muddy Terrain is the poor trapper’s alternative. It is great though, because it does not require traits to make it work.

ok I just wanted to come in here and say a few things

1. if you are using signet of the beastmaster trait you should not be using long bow as your weapon to use when under the effects of signet of the wild, you should be using a weapon that can grant more hits and more reliably hit in the 8 seconds that the signet is active.
2. Remorseless actually grants more dmg to a longbow user than signet of the beast master cause it is a consistent way to stack vulnerability that increases your dmg on your target over a much longer time than the 8 seconds from the active signet and also guaranties that your first attack out of stealth is a critical hit (do not forget the minor that grats opening strikes 100% critical hit)
3. axe is actually a very good fire and forget weapon, it bounces you don’t even need to worry about aoe just sit there chucking axes if they get to close to you hit 5 and kitten em in whirling defense if you like the fire and forget playstyle.
4. rappid fire does not require every hit to get the 10 stacks of vuln (I didn’t actually keep trake it is something like 2 stacks every hit?) also the vuln from rappid fire lasts 13 sec not 10 sec

1: I disagree, weapon choice is up to the player and if you can make a killing blow with the Longbow due to the range while other weapons would put you in the fray, there is no reason not to use it.
2: The 100% crit trait is bugged (and confirmed.) It also only grants more damage if the target is not already maxed out on vunerability stacks. That’s consistent damage and not burst damage; most encounters will be over before Remorseless takes the lead. (Mind you, that is comparing personal DPS and not how much your team benefits from the vunerability stacks. Again; if it was not already stacked to 25 before using it.)
3: It is indeed a fire and forget weapon… but it has a major downside; you can draw aggro from more mobs than intended (same argument as pet AI drawing aggro before the patch that fixed it…)
4: The 13 seconds vunerability is probably because you have 30% condition duration from 30 points in Marksmanship.

Ranger doesnt mean archer so thinking that the bow is our signature weapon is another mistake.

From guild wars site…under professions.
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/ranger/

Does this really need to be repeated yet again?

Stop praising the profession page on GW2.com! There has yet to been given an official response as to what they mean with “unparralelled archers” and the part after that simply states that bows are a ranged weapon (derp)

Ranger is the only class that can use both the Short Bow and Longbow. That is the ranger exclusive (unparralleled) part.

If you really think the ranger is an unparralleled archer because they are better at using bows than other professions you are probably playing a different game than me.

As for the whole Longbow vs. Sword discussion; Sword does more damage, use it if you can live with it and like it. It’s PvE. Stuff dies. Easy. If you find your pet dying too much use a more sturdy pet like a bear until you can manage a higher damage pet. If you find yourself dying too much gear/trait for a bit more defense, use a more defensive weapon or learn the encounters better.

As for the guy saying a ranger dies instant in the face of a boss encounter… Just no. If you know what animations to dodge and when, you should have no problem at all. Any class can get away with staying in melee range in this game, that’s not because everyone is running power-vitality-toughness gear.

That’s because guild wars system is totally inflexible and we must all spec the same and play the same!

I find this true mainly in sPvP and PvE, where only a handful of players work on new stategies. While the rest simply picks up on those working strategies and (as described in the video; use them as a FOO-stategy.) There is not much initiative to adapt, because most players will get stomped by working builds and stategies and give up before finding something that works (or come to the conclusion that it simply does not work at all.) In the case of PvE, berserker’s>all – if you can manage to survive said encounters with it.

By the time one has learned said new stategy, it is still object to change and skill balances thus forcing the player to move on and adapt. That is why sPvP in my opinion is not as appealing for most casual players. It is also why I prefer WvWvW as a PvP format. There are simply a lot more types of enemies to come across because the objectives are not only capture points (unless you are in a zerg…) but rather yakslapping, roaming, camp flipping etc. Lesser skilled players can do their share (run with a zerg for example) while the more experienced players will know what objectives to take and when to strike. Then there is the player who does not care about his world’s rating; for whom roaming is an option too.

Hyjaxx's Re-Port331 ( The new hotness!)

in Ranger

JorneMormel.9850

I have been doing some theorycrafting on a direct damage version of the builds. A few things stand out; gearing for power/precision/critical damage leaves you lacking toughness and healing power (a lot!) One way to work around the lack of toughness is using Signet of Stone (+180 Toughness and nice synergy with “Protect Me!” if the pet can not handle the incoming damage. It is actually quite fun to use.) But you lose out on some of the health regeneration.
You can make up for some of the health regen loss by actively leap and blast finishing your water field.

As for gear; it is either a mix of cleric/berserker, or celestial for the critical damage and more all round stats. Runes for boon duration because you will stack might (and boon duration affects the Fortifying Bond minor trait…) So I would consider it a semi-beastmaster build. Keep in mind the Short Bow takes advantage of the condition damage on celestial gear (and from the might stacks) while the Greatsword is the better option for Cleric/Berserker for the additional leap finisher and defensive utilities.

Keep in mind these builds are probably less effective than the condition damage versions because of the weapon damage scaling. Condition damage is not everyone’s cup of tea, though. So I figured I would just share my finds.

For someone who played a Ranger so long you haven’t a clue.

Cripple for 2.5 seconds and 3 stacks of bleed – 20 second cooldown.
Chill for 1.25 seconds – 24 second cooldown

Let me fix this for you, bud.

  • Cripple for 2 seconds and 3 stacks of bleed – 20 second cooldown.
  • Chill for 1 second – 5 second duration for a potential 5 second Chill – 24 second cooldown.
Reduces movement speed by -66% and skill recharge rate by -66%
    Grants a combo: Ice Field
    – Frost Aura reduces 10% damage for 4 seconds and inflicts a 1 second Chill when attacked.

Frost trap looks a lot better to me for a non traited Trap build.

But if traited: (Direct quote from the wiki. inb4 wiki lol. The information is correct though.)

Spike Trap has a hidden effect in which it immobilizes foes hit by the initial trigger for 1 second without any condition duration modifiers. This only occurs if the Trapper’s Expertise trait is active.

I know what it is, but Precise Strikes is bugged atm. It doesn’t guarantee a critical hit with Remorseless.

Also that 23k maul build is a one trick pony. It’s even described as not being a fun build, just a build to maximise the damage from 1 attack. It might get a bit more viable for non-gimmick use if Precise Strikes gets fixed, but as it stands now; (and I repeat…) I will not be using this.

Ranger Changes on July 23, 2013

in Ranger

JorneMormel.9850

Okay my first impressions of this update;.. (From a WvW perspective.)

Entangle; tooltip fix. lol, this wouldn’t be called an update if no tooltips were updated!

Rapid Fire; the channel duration still hinders this skill more than vunerability adds in its’ favor. Edit Keep in mind the Quickening Zephyr change, Rangers no longer have easy access to quickness so there is no easy way to work around it.

Hunter’s Shot; interesting change. Seeing this in use has its’ niches. But there’s a lot of requirements to meet before you finally get stealthed (and the random obstruction bug is still around.)

Point Blank Shot; combined with the stealth from Hunter’s Shot it’ll be interesting to use as a finisher (letting the enemy die from fall damage to prevent the downed state.) Otherwise I can not get my head around why this was changed, 900 range is a lot and if it works with the Eagle Eye trait it seems a bit much.

Maul; this change makes the Greatsword a better group weapon, but much worse for roaming and solo play.

Crippling Throw; this was a much needed fix.

Whirling Defense; interesting mechanic. I have yet to see this in use.

Call of the Wild; this was a much needed feature for the profession. Interesting choice to put it on the Warhorn.

Remorseless; opening strikes is a weird mechanic, using trait slots to make it work is rather poor design in my opinion. I will not be using this.

One major selling point that got me hooked was that there wasn’t supposed to be any gear progression other than aesthethics after getting exotics. Adding the trinkets already felt like selling out. The day ascended armor is introduced will be the day I quit. Because I see where this is going and I do not like it.

Well you should’ve quit a LONG time ago because when they first introduced ascended they said there would be full set of ascended gear by the end of the year.

Keep in mind, the only reasons Ascended was implemented was because Anet kittened up with exotics and how quickly everyone got them and then sat around crying they were done. Not to mention they felt exotics —--> legendary was too big of a leap in terms of grind so Ascended is supposed to fill that and prepare you I guess (iDK).

Not to mention, they’ve already said they won’t be adding better armor (the second a tier above ascended is added I’m gone), and through infusions and Fractals they can keep the gear treadmill players happy via get better infusions!

The reason I haven’t quit yet is because I still find the game somewhat enjoyable at times. As for ascended gear, I’ve been boycotting it since its’ release. To be fair; I ran around in a set of blue armor when the released it (not because I didn’t have exotics, it’s because I wanted to know if skill>gear…) and still did well 1 vs. 1(up to 3)
It’s also the reason I have a Ranger as my main, with the bad AI in this game I find myself required to be more aware of the situation than most other professions. To me; it has kept me going and kept pushing me to improve my own gameplay. When the gap of skill<gear becomes to great, I quit. I see this happening if ANet keeps up the gear threadmill, and I will not stick around to see it.

AG coming to this match quite boosted after some hard matches vs Millers that tightened server up and perhaps rubbed us off with some brute force “tactics”.

Want to mention out a brilliant move on ROf part on EB this morning as we attacked bravost, he pulled the Grub boss to our siege totally decimating our attack, we were loling and completely impressed, our commander was like “ye, think we lost this one! time to go”.

I have very much enjoyed this matchup, and I hope you guys did too. (Well except for VcY, as playing a game is not supposed to be fun!) I hope we will meet again soon!

Very nice to see 3 servers with very different and distinct tactics clash and have such an even matchup. GG!

Wow… we’re in worse state @ PWNY than I had anticipated.

I mean I’d heard of a department of finances… but a department of financial problems? This must surely be a crisis for us all!

Anyway making all these golem build sites stimulates our economy by creating work for us all. To the builders, who with all their supply forge our mascottes of war. To the enemy, who will in turn stimulate the economy by purchasing new upgrades for their recently wrecked objectives. But more importantly; to me. It gives me all the opportunity I could wish for to loot dead bodies for a living!

I’m in the same situation as you, by the looks of it.
Ranger main, only lvl 80, 100% world completion and commander tag with no desire to reroll (which I did, got a mesmer up to lvl 55 before I got bored out of my mind.)
As it stands now I log in once a day to charge myself a quartz crystal… And that’s it. I don’t even bother with the daily archievements anymore because I don’t like archievement hunting and already have all the laurels I need.

So I’m taking a break this summer holiday. It couldn’t have come at a better time and I’m really enjoying myself with other activities than gaming. But the desire to again play a role I enjoy so much in this game remains.

Who knows? Maybe they’ll mess up a future balance patch (again) and make Rangers amazingly overpowered for a month or two.

Who am I kidding? If anything I expect more nerfs only due to my current lack of faith in the team responsible for releasing the balance updates.

I just can’t get my head around the lack of well executed balance updates in games like this. Even the sPvP’ers made a wishlist on which balance was #1…

I agree with the OP but we also need some suggestions about how they could make better use of the buttons – like Seetoo’s suggestion above.

I recently made a thread on the subject on GW2guru, in which I put a lot of time and effort. For the sake of not repeating myself (and typing out the whole thing) I’ll just link the original thread here. I’m quite curious to see everyone’s opinion on this, but honestly doubt much will be changed about the pet mechanic anytime soon. One can always hope, though.

I love this profession

in Ranger

JorneMormel.9850

Well I don’t think I can answer this question at all, as it all depends on your playstyle. If you’re playing a trap Ranger, for instance, the Engineer’s grenade kit might have a similar feel.
The only way to really find out if Ranger really is the best profession for you is to try out the alternatives (as you were doing before.) If you keep coming back to the same profession; there’s no doubt about it.

Edit: the best advice I could give you is to play in whatever way you enjoy. It’s a game, and thus, meant for entertainment. Don’t force yourself to try everything if you’re content with the way you were playing before. If you later decide you want to switch around your playstyle, go nuts!

Sword Auto-Attack-Root working as intended?

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

Well until the question has actually been answered I suppose. Let me remind you;

Did the developers confirm if it’s working as intended?

Until they do the question will remain because it’s uncertain if it should be adressed or not. And since so many people question if it actually is working as intended, it is obvious that a lot of people are discontent with the weapon in its’ current state.

Sword Auto-Attack-Root working as intended?

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

The part I see is on the first try, you actually just finished the attack animation. (And damage pops up…) after which you dodge. The second time you swap your weapon to cancel the auto-attack.

Mind you weapon swapping is not always available or something you should want when you need to dodge a big hit.

As for the last part; any Ranger should know how to micro-manage their pet by now.

Also this:

I can think of much better ways to get carpel tunnel than smashing my one key because Anet doesn’t want to fix the sword.

The best way to make sure you’re able to dodge when needed is to disable the auto-attack.

Although I must confess, using the auto-attack manually while actively target switching can be amazing, but this takes much practise. It’s interesting to use for that reason, but I can’t see myself bothered to stick to the sword exclusively because I’d mess up my hand. And I need that hand to play bass so I can inspire my server to kick kitten (or mute my microphone in TS.)

Working as intended? I don’t know.
But it’s possible to “work around” the weapon’s limitations. Which is possibly why a lot of people complain they don’t want the weapon ‘fixed’. ‘Fraid it’d dumb the weapon down or something.

I for one care more about my health than about a higher skill ceiling for the Ranger.

Future patches, any hope for us?

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

Except for the PvP builds which over the years only changed a few skills to adjust to the powercreep that came with expansions. Anyway, the place Rangers truly shined in GW1 was PvP. Everything else was basically done better by other professions, or just a gimmick build. For instance; UW trapping? 55 Monks did it better and in most cases faster. Even when they were later replaced by a team of 1 Monk and 1 Necromancer, the speed made up for the fact you wouldn’t run it solo anymore. Don’t even bring up their PvP alternatives like Bunny Thumpers or Touch Rangers…

Anyway back on topic; by looking at the past patches and seeing how there’s really a lack of direction with the buffs/nerfs being thrown all around, I personally lost faith the class is going anywhere I’d want it to be (atleast on a short term.) So I’m leveling a Mesmer.
I’m going to get my Ranger full Celestial armor just to make sure I don’t have to change gear around again when the next patch hits (and thereafter…) But I’m not enjoying it as much as I did before, so unless ANet somehow miraculously restores my faith in the Ranger profession, I’m sticking to my alts.

The whole “a pet name database is too much work” argument is just a proof of laziness and lacking commitment. If they really think that way about it, then why have a character name database? Why not simply have everyone log in as Juvenile Ranger? Heck, that would be even less work.

It would also solve a lot of issues concerning ‘character name taken’…

Back to being serious; I don’t care if the name of the pets reset, the thing that bothers me is the Juvennile prefix on all pets.

If I remember correctly Mag had a non-recruitment thread just before free transfers ended. Only it was actually meant to keep people away.

Well to be fair, making a post like this to actually get more transfers to our server is something entirely different than actually meaning to keep (free) transfers away.

It’s not some kinda…
This is reverse psychology @ its’ very finest.

Also just about every thread on this forums promotes their server as the best new home server for just about anyone. That doesn’t appeal to me, and doesn’t seem credible at all.

By giving a statement like don’t join the Ring of Fire, at least we’re original if anything. Can’t say I’m misleading anyone by giving wrong information.

JorneMormel.9850

Hello everyone,
I made this thread to inform you all that the Ring of Fire server is currently not looking for more members or guilds to join. We have no queues at all in World versus World and we wish to keep it that way.

If you wish to join a bandwagon server, there are plenty of threads all around. Just stay out of the Ring of Fire. It takes character to join a server as awesome as the Ring of Fire, and the experience of playing World versus World with our national anthem in the background is matched by no other. What national anthem, you ask? Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire, of course!

As for our community, we recently lost two guilds that were active in the World versus World and trolling formats, one of which hosted our previous community TeamSpeak server. Since we’re such a friendly bunch of people that try to help each other out in situations as this, we re-established a community TeamSpeak server in no more than an hour after the shutdown of the previous one. That’s all the more reason why you’re not welcome in the Ring of Fire; if you would be in a community that looks out for each other, you wouldn’t be looking to change your home server.

We hope to see you all in the World… versus World. And hope you give us a challenge to look forward to.

Ranger sword skill 1!

in Ranger

Posted by: JorneMormel.9850

JorneMormel.9850

If sword is to complicated for you to figure out, Please don’t ask for it to be dumbed down, Go play a different class, or use a different weapon.

Sword in this game is perfect..

Having to explain why Sword 2 has a backwards leap (which is amazing) or why having a leap on our auto attack is amazing gets old after a while.

Yep I agree. I do not want sword changed.

To those people that worry about not being able to dodge when using a sword. Duel someone good while you use sword/Dagger. Then switch up and use a GS. Everyone says the GS is a defensive weapon…correct? So since you can dodge with it…and it is a “defensive” weapon. That combination would make you tougher to hit than using sword …right ? I think you will find that you get hit a lot less using S/D. Even when you don’t turn off auto attack. So you will get hit less and do more damage …what ? In addition you are hitting them with poisons/bleeds and cripples…..which makes their heals less effective and allows you to kite easier.

I absolutely hate fighting a Ranger with S/D. Very hard to track them down because the Ranger decides the ebb and flow of the fight. Every single time I duel someone with S/D I get the same comment ….stop jumping around so kitten much so I can hit you.

Nah, kitten the dodging. If you are a very good player that can reap the benefits of Sword and also get dodges with auto attack off …and can pull off the superior movements (escape and close gaps) then kudos to you. I don’t have the skill to keep auto attack off and control the weapon. It still is a terrific weapon with auto attack on.

Not only don’t change it I worry they might nerf it.

Correct me if I’m wrong but is it just the fear of the weapon being nerfed if any changes are made, that keeps you from supporting any change on the sword skill 1?
I wouldn’t mind at all if the animation stayed the same but could actually be cancelled out by dodging. That’s not dumbing down the weapon; that’s increasing potential, and would in my opinion make the weapon more accessible to less experienced players.

That said, fear is never a good reason not to adress issues.
(Although in the Ranger’s case I understand that getting beaten and bruised over and over again by the nerf stick isn’t a good way to promote healthy conversation about skill changes.)
