I’d like to see a future collection with a hunting theme. An example target would be the Champion Ram in Timberline Falls. Another candidate would be Veteran Giant Boar in QD. I’m sure there are others on various maps that could also fit.

The collection could also track progress somewhere within the personal instance by having a wall that displays the corresponding horns, heads, and so forth from the player’s account progress.

All these posts supporting mobs, but nobody thinks for a moment about environmental critters getting one-shot when they’re trying to roam.

I’ll always remember you, innocent bystander bunny, whatever your name was.

If those death animations weren’t so darned amazing, I would leave the ambients alone..but, man, those frozen bunny animations kill me every time I see them! And nothing makes me giggle more than sneaking a Big Ol’ Bomb under the but of a deer or yak!

Melandru, hear our pleas!

As evidenced by the cruel tortures described above, as well as the earlier postings by Snowbunny and the Frogs and Ravens in Queensdale, your meekest children are being brutally slaughtered for the amusement of these wicked creatures. We carry no loot, offer no experience to our killers, and do nothing to provoke their attacks. Yet day after day, we are subjected to their relentless onslaught. Why cruel masters of Tyria must we suffer this way?

Dear Snowbunny,

Although we here in the Godslost Swamp near Deathrooth Shack have never witnessed a death by such a tremendous blow, we have suffered from countless deaths at the hands of many crazed killers. In fact, on certain days, there seems to be a relentless steady stream of these bloodthirsty poachers killing all of our colonies and flocks within moments after they hatch. What have we ever done to earn their wrath? We have heard whispers of something called a “daily” and the number thirty also to be somehow significant to these cruel hunters, but we have no understanding of its meaning.

Proposal Overview
Limit text modification of Guild Stash, Treasure Trove and Deep Cave to selected guild members.

Goal of Proposal
Prevent general guild members from treating the Guild Storage as a target for graffiti or obscene messages.

Proposal Functionality
Text modification of the Guild Storage would be tied to one of the current guild member permission settings.

Associated Risks
This only has a positive effect (no risk) by helping to prevent obscene messages from being entered and potentially viewed by other guild members.

As an alternate approach, text modifications to the guild stash could be tracked just like deposits and removals are tracked now. Then guilds could discipline members that deface the Guild Stash. However, this method still leaves open the possibility for the abuse to occur.

Based on the wiki information, the following collections are supposed to exist:

- Hero of the People (tracks loot bags)
- Brewmaster (tracks ales and beers)

I’ve opened champ bags including Gilded Strongboxes and Deluxe Gear boxes which should count toward the Hero of the People, but that collection has does not show up yet.

I also purchased and consumed the 3 ale types available in Smokestead, and also bought the Monk’s Beer Stein in Queensdale, but the Brewmaster collection does now show up yet either.

Is there something else I need to do to begin these collections?

keyfarming

Key farming would have gone away if keys actually dropped while playing the game the way it was supposed to be played.

Black Lion Keys do drop in game from random mobs, but the probability is so tiny that it’s almost non-existent. I’ve been playing regularly since early launch, and I’ve gotten about 4 keys from random mobs over that span. Outside of precursors, they seem to have one of the lowest drop rates of any item.

If ANet would increase the BLK drop rate to a reasonable level (for example, maybe half the rate that black lion chests drop), it would probably help quash a lot of the angst over key farming getting nerfed.

World vs. World Fall Tournament 2014

in WvW

Kalendraf.9521

Seems like there is an issue with the proposed reward structure:

- Tickets are rewarded after the end of each week’s match
- 1st gets 200, 2nd gets 150, 3rd gets 100
- You have 1 week to use your tickets before the next week’s reset or they are forfeited
- Mistforged Weapon costs 300 tickets.

At this point, I don’t see how a player can ever have more than 200 tickets in their inventory. It looks like they want people to buy the Hero weapon (100 tickets) and then possibly upgrade (200 tickets). However, in that case, why do they still show the 300 ticket option for the Mistforged weapon?

NPCs becoming inactive during assassin battle

in Living World

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

I’m not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior, but since it is related to the new living world content, I’m posting it here.

During the fight against the assassin, the NPCs (Rox, Braham, Taimi, Jory, Kas) started out fighting things on the ground. However, once I started attacking the assassin, they all stopped making any attacks or actions and just stood idle for the remainder of the battle. While I was able to eventually win, having the NPCs go into idle mode, making them become spectators for the main part of the battle, completely breaks the immersion.

If this is intended behavior, perhaps there should be some kind of plausible explanation added for their inactivity during this fight, such a getting magically immobilized by an enemy skill, etc.

Crown Pavilion protracted end state issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

In the new version of the Crown Pavilion, there’s a potential for a protracted end battle against one of the bosses. I encountered this situation last night where it took over 90 minutes to do a blitz. Our map didn’t have a lot of players (at first) and was unable to split to tackle bosses. We made solid progress on each of the first 5 bosses, averaging about 5 to 6 minutes per kill. However, the last boss then took over an hour. That boss was Boom Boom.

By the time this final boss was reached, there was a steady in-rush of new players joining the map who greatly scaled up the fight. Despite focusing on the healing turrets, we simply could not kill them fast enough to prevent Boom Boom from recovering nearly all of their health each time. Some players attempted to leave the battle to scale it down, but the steady in-rush of new players joining the map kept scaling it up even further. By now, players who see a single boss icon on a map have been well-trained by Anet to head there and help. So you can’t blame players arriving on the map for doing exactly what ANet has trained them to do.

Some people were claiming this was great, and anti-zerg and the way it should be. However, that narrow viewpoint misses some key issues here. For example, new players joining a map should not be punished so harshly for the current state of an event. Instead, a new player joining a map should be rewarded for trying to help. However, in this case, attempts to do that by joining the fight actually lead to the reverse situation since more players arriving will scale up the enemies even worse. There isn’t a good “go sit out this fight” mechanism in GW2 to encourage players to stay away, at least not one that directly earns rewards. Meanwhile, trying to switch to another instance of the map to avoid a bad end-state may not be obvious, or even possible.

Each end state (such as the case of Boom Boom being the last boss just as a flood of new players arrive and scale up the fight hopelessly) needs a viable completion mechanic. With the current setup, this case ends up similar to forcing a chess match to go on despite neither side having enough pieces to achieve mate. A couple of solutions for this would be:
- When there is only 1 boss left, start a timer. If the timer runs out before the final boss is killed, the event ends with minimum rewards.
- Once bronze level is guaranteed, eliminate scaling for the final boss.

This way, the event would have a built-in completion mechanic to avoid such meaningless protracted battles.

Old LS items (besides blade shards)

Re: You never read anything from ANet about anything other than blade shards.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-March-18-2014/first#content

“Rumors tell of a merchant interested in items from major events in Tyria’s recent history, including Blade Shards. Players are encouraged to hold on to these items if they are interested in trading with her when she appears.”

Bold added for emphasis.

Thanks for this post. This was the info I was thinking of. If they just meant shards and shards alone, a more succinct way to phrase this would have been as follows:

“Rumors tell of a merchant interested in Blade Shards.”

However, with the added phrases, it implies that the merchant would also take other items. One of the key words here is “events” which implies that the items in question would span multiple events, and thus this could encompass multiple types of items. On the other hand, shards were available at multiple events, so that does fit this criteria. However, the “including” part implies that shards are just one of multiple types of items. This part of the wording is not satisfied by the current merchant.

As others have said, if all we can expect is greens from leftover items, there isn’t much point trying to hang onto these items any longer.

Champ-trains wai?

Kalendraf.9521

I have yet to see a champ train outside of Queensdale or Frostgorge.

I suspect that champ train behavior is not intended, but rather it is an outgrowth of the game’s currently unbalanced loot system. Many players will gravitate towards behaviors that produce the most rewards in the least time, or least effort. Champ trains are currently one of the best options for this. If they would update the rewards in other areas of the game, there would be much less incentive for players to run champ trains.

Kalendraf.9521

You speak about 5 tasks. I am talking about maxing all of them (both PvE and PvP) each day for the sole purpose of additional AP. And yes, if you have bad day with rolls in PvP matches, it can easily take 8 hours to complete everything.

This is a different issue. Players don’t have to obtain more than 5 tasks per day for the daily achievement, and anything beyond that appears to be unnecessary grind. If that is the issue they are trying to address, then there may be a better solution that can satisfy everyone.

Rather than having a hard cap for these APs, they could limit the amount of AP earned to 5 AP per day from dailies, and 40 AP per month from monthlies. This would still give people a way to get more APs from these, but it would not reward the grinding behavior that seems to be the issue you are describing.

This looks like a very bad and unnecessary change. I don’t understand the rationale behind this cap on dailies and monthlies. How is it good for the game to remove some of the incentives for playing regularly? I really hope ANet reconsiders this move.

BTW, it’s not clear from this article since it only discussed the AP portion of the rewards, but could this change also imply that other rewards (mystic coins, laurels) from dailies/monthlies may get similarly capped?

Lovestruck weapons: questionable symbolism

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

Let me try to explain this from a different perspective…

If a gunmaker IRL were to produce a fully functional firearm with a big red heart on the barrel, and then began advertising it a couple of weeks before Valentine’s Day, what kind of message would that send? Would that product simply be viewed as cute and inoffensive? Would people be lining up to buy them because they looked cool, or possibly to give as gifts to their loved ones? Perhaps I’m in the minority for thinking this way, but I suspect the gunmaker would instead be publicly reprimanded for marketing such a product.

I realize that GW2 is just a game, and that the weapons in the game aren’t real, nor is the killing. However, it is the reality as seen from our characters point of view. Would they condone the Black Lion Company marketing such items?

The decision to add these Lovestruck weapons to the game seems ill-conceived to me. IMHO, a better design for these would have been something incorporating a rose motif, such as modified versions of the Verdant weapons. At least that might have made more sense from a lore perspective, and it would have avoided the heart symbol all-together.

Lovestruck weapons: questionable symbolism

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

The recent patch has added Lovestruck weapon skins to the game. Each of them has a prominent heart symbol. I can understand the desire to add seasonal or holiday-themed skins to the game. However, in this case, the specific symbolism and their placement seems very awkward. The red heart is typically a symbol for love. Placing this symbol on a weapon could thus be interpreted as “I love to kill” or “I kill those I love”. Yet I doubt ANet intended to support either viewpoint.

Cupid may be depicted using a bow, and a heart symbol on his weapon may be appropriate, but his arrows aren’t lethal. Thus, unless the lovestruck weapons are similarly non-lethal, that example doesn’t really apply here.

Things like the Harpy Love effect seem more in the spirit of how the heart symbol can be used appropriately within the game. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other symbols that would seem to be better choices for weapons.

Feature Build Balance Preview

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

The impact of Healing Power on most healing skills seems rather weak. I see very few builds that use Healing Power, which suggests it likely needs an overhaul. The suggested change to the warrior’s Healing Signet highlights this issue. With no points in Healing Power, the current version of Healing Signet is a good skill. But adding points into Healing Power doesn’t really seem to improve it very much. Meanwhile, the active ability of this skill is relatively weak, and it mostly seems to be used as a last ditch burst heal.

It seems like the fundamental problem is that Healing Power should have a bigger impact on various healing skills, especially their active abilities. In the case of Healing Signet, if Healing Power could significantly increase its active heal benefit, players with points in Healing Power would probably be more inclined to use its active benefit more often.

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

in CDI

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

On the topic of armor and weapon skins as a form of horizontal progress, the ability to modify skins of equipment needs to be improved. While the transmutation stones & crystals are a novel method to allow players to combine different stats with different skins, the method is often clunky and it often leads to undesirable or unnecessary item destruction.

There are a couple approaches that seem better for this. One example would be craftable or purchaseable skins that can then be directly applied to any gear. The behavior of these would be similar to how the Hall of Monuments skins or the Radiant/Zenith skins from achievement chests behave. Since the skins would not have any inherent stats, the cost to craft or purchase basic versions could be significantly cheaper than crafting regular armor pieces of the same type. Meanwhile, special skins would function much like those HoM/Radiant/Zenith skins and not have any comparable in-game armors or weapons – they would only exist as skins that can be applied to gear.

Another method would be to add a new slot to all gear specifically for the appearance, and then allow players to select options from something like the PvP locker.

Either of these methods would then allow transmutation crystals to be completely phased out of the game, and any left over in the game could possibly be traded into NPCs for some kind of alternate reward.

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

in CDI

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

To me, character progression can usually be measured in 4 primary ways:
1) Character is stronger (by inherent stats)
2) Character has access to better gear
3) Character is able to access higher level content
4) Character can obtain a distinguished appearance or title

With respect to GW2, these seem to be met (or not met) in the following ways:
1) Reaching level 80 is relatively easy and fast. At this level, all characters are essentially equal. Thus, once a character reaches level 80, there isn’t much or any advancement left. This could change if the level cap was raised or some other form of advancement were added.

In WvW ranks, provide a different form of character advancement. Could something similar to this be added in PvE? For example, what if the slayer titles were modified to provide small damage/defense bonuses at progressively higher levels against those types of foes? This might help give players another reason to frequent different maps to engage specific foes, and give them something else to work toward.

2) Ascended & Legendary gear provides the best overall stats. However, they are not that much different (~5%) than very cheap & easily obtained exotics. As a result, the the incentive for obtaining these does not appear to be that high from a raw stats point of view. These are even less attractive when the costs to obtain them are so extreme. Many players seem to give up on ever obtaining a legendary, and many seem to be forgoing ascended weapons and armor due to the prohibitive costs.

Grinding gold, farming materials, or gambling away items into the mystic forge all seem counter-productive to having fun. There should be a better and more enjoyable way for players to work toward obtaining these items.

3) After mapping the world, the primary area limits seem to be Fractal levels. Although even lower (fractal) level players can still enter higher levels, success will be gated by agony resistance which in turn will be somewhat limited by fractal rewards.

I don’t play fractals often, but I think this kind of progression is ok. However, I would really like to see more new areas added to the world, possibly ones that require previous achievements to reach. For example, what about a new dungeon mode that could become available after defeating each dungeon path a certain number of times. It could use the entire dungeon map and be more like an explorable area, possibly filled with random mobs and interesting loot.

4) The game features many titles, some of which can be difficult to earn. However, there are only a few equipment items that evoke much awe from players. Legendary weapons are about the only unique items the game has in this regard. Not only are they hard to obtain, but they have special effects that clearly distinguish them. What seems to be lacking is a distinguished set of armors that really exude a feeling of pride and accomplishment for players. Although this is somewhat subjective, the new ascended armors don’t really provide this at all. Nor do the ascended weapons for many.

In the case of legendary weapons, there are only a few types in the game (only one choice for most weapons), and it seems too hard for many players to obtain them. In the case of armors, there do not seem to be any compelling options in the game right now. Thus, it seems like the game is missing the mark on its distinguished items – they are either too limited, too hard to obtain, or they just don’t exist.

11 days more to craft a light armor

in Crafting

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

An easy way to fix this would be to remove the time gate on the leather/metal/cloth and replace it with a 4-5 day CD on the vision and lesser vision crystal.

Part of the reason ANet put the time gated crafting materials in place was to allow crafters to be able to create and sell some forms of ascended materials at a profit. (Which seems to be working amazingly well!) This still allows players to craft the final armors and weapons nearly instantly, provided they are willing to buy any extra ascended materials they need from the trading post.

Shifting the time gate to an account-bound item would not help to make any of the sellable items profitable, and it would just limit the number of final items you can make to 1 per day. This isn’t the intention of the time gate.

Scale Armour

It would help to know which scale armor (sorry, I’m American) you’re looking for. Is it this version?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scale_armor

This is the tier 2 crafted style. If the levels are too high, then you can do as Zach suggested and use Transmutation Stones to convert them to armor you can wear. If you need any of those, you can complete mapping of a city which will reward you with 3 such stones. Map 2 full cities to get 6 if you need to do all 6 armor pieces. Since it sounds like you’re lower level than 80, you should not need any Transmutation Crystals which are used for level 80 gear.

If it’s a different scale armor type, you can try searching the wiki for it. Otherwise, please provide us with a screenshot of what you’re looking for and we can try to help.

Post patch discussion

in Warrior

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

My current warrior build is power-oriented and it uses Axe/Mace (or Warhorn) plus Longbow. Despite a lot of people claiming that LB is for condition builds, I was having very good success with longbow in my power-oriented setup. My build had the ability to build adrenaline fast and it could spam F1 with full adrenaline about as fast it could recharge. In fact, in the recent weeks, I was having so much success with it, that I’d found I was using bow as much or sometimes even more than my melee weapons.

However, after the patch, I immediately noticed a significant drop off in the damage output from Combustive Shot. It’s still useful to setup fire fields, but as an attack skill it no longer seems to be worthy of getting spammed the moment adrenaline is maxed like it used to be. In addition, it doesn’t seem to be charging quite as fast now, which may be due to the slower pulses not triggering my Furious trait as often, or it may be due to some other nerf that I overlooked.

Despite this, longbow still seems to be the best ranged option for warriors. However, it’s burst skill isn’t nearly as useful as it was. At this point, I’ll probably have to give up on making a build that tries to spam Combustive Shot. It was fun while it lasted.

Longbow speed increase?

I used the longbow quite a bit before this patch, and I didn’t notice any attack speed changes with the longbow yesterday when I tried it. Both #4 and #5 are 1/4 second activations, so they were already fast attack skills.

HoD – [CV] Charter Vanguard

will you use Rifle now ?

in Warrior

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

No.

Moving Crack Shot to adept tier doesn’t alter alter my reasons for bringing other weapons instead. If I need a ranged weapon, then longbow is a superior option for several reasons:

- 4 AoE skills (attacks #2, #3, #4, F1 – all of these are very helpful for tagging too)
- Blindness (attack #4)
- Immobilize (attack #5)
- Fire field (F1 – yes, it was nerfed, but it still works fine for AoE might stacking)
- Blast finisher (attack #3, and the obvious combo with the fire field for group AoE might stacking, and in many other situations where allies setup fields)
- Faster adrenaline building (via #1 which fires 2 projectiles, and the AoE attacks)

The main advantages I can get from rifle are a bit longer range plus some conditions (bleeding and vulnerability) both of which are almost always capped out in group battles, so there isn’t much point. Thus, if I need a ranged weapon, it really boils down to whether I really want that extra bit longer range (from rifles) at the cost of losing access to all those benefits listed above for longbow. Going with longbow is the obvious choice for me.

They broke something with Longbow this patch

in Ranger

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

It could be an unintended change, but this change certainly isn’t over-powered either, so I can see why it may be fully intended. I’d like to see this get kept. Ranger has other ways to gain fury (Call of the Wild, Rampage As One, Furious Screech with red moa pet, etc), and each of those provide some additional benefits beyond just fury on the ranger. Thus, this fury gain on longbow attacks is not clearly better than existing options for gaining fury. Hence, I can see why this might be an intended buff, and simply one that ANet forgot to list in the patch notes.

Rifle Buffs?

in Warrior

Posted by: Kalendraf.9521

Kalendraf.9521

Dunno that buffs are necessary yet. Let’s see what people do with the more accessible rifle trait first. Could turn out it was OP all along, just completely underused (coughunsuspectingfoecough)

The rifle trait (reduced cooldowns, piercing) doesn’t do enough address the fundamental issues with the weapon. Compared to the LB, rifle only offers a relatively minor advantage in terms of range, raw weapon damage, and access to a knockback. However, most of the rifle attacks are slower. In addition, by equipping a rifle instead of a longbow, the wielder gives up access to these:
– 4 AoE skills (#2, #3, #4, F1)
– A blast finisher (#3)
– An AoE fire field (F1) and these self-combos:
—- AoE Might stacking via F1 + #3
—- Burning projectiles via F1 + auto attack
– A 3 second Immobilize (#5)

Also, between the Longbow AoE attacks and it’s #1 auto attack (2 hits per attack), it tends to gain adrenaline much faster than the rifle, allowing for more and faster uses of the burst skill.

In order to balance this, the the rifle could do one of the following:
- Attack much, much faster than the longbow (balances lack of AoE with fast single target attacks)
- Do much higher damage per shot than the longbow (balances lack of AoE with high damage single target attacks)
- Include it’s own set of AoE attacks, such as via a trait that adds explosive ammunition (overcomes lack of AoE by adding its own)

Until one of those occurs, or the longbow gets seriously nerfed, the longbow offers several significant advantages over the rifle, making longbow the obvious choice.

Longbow, a decent weapon for WvW?

in Warrior

Most of folks I see using the LB all run some sort of condi build. Is it not as effective using a P/P/T set and normal DPS build?

I run a DPS-oriented build in WvW with longbow, and it works pretty well for my build. The thing to realize with the longbow is that it’s somewhat of a hybrid weapon. While it has some attacks that include conditions, the raw damage from some of its attacks are pretty strong too.

More importantly, the LB seems to be the only viable range AoE option for the warrior. In many WvW situations, having something that can hit multiple targets at range is invaluable, which makes the LB so useful there. If they ever provide an update like giving the rifle some AoE shots (via change to the skills or traits), then that might make the rifle an option to consider instead.

This is something else we did during green arrow. We ALMOST got HoD’s citadel.
http://www.twitch.tv/komvendetta/c/3245227

On Gate of Madness, we take our name seriously.

Maybe if you’d added a couple of trebs, you might have been able to knock it down!

By the timestamp, it looks like that was happening just around the time I started my WvW session, but I started in the SF BL and didn’t move to HoD until later when I caught the fights at Bay.

From the vid, it sounds like your green arrow events are a riot, especially if you can get those kind of numbers. I’ll keep an eye out for you guys in a couple weeks and maybe we can have more crazy fun somewhere in WvW.

Not sure where SF was last night. Between the few hours I spent in the BLs last night, I barely saw any from that server.

On the other hand, GoM brought some significant numbers to each map. They gave us a good fight at Bay in the HoD BL. It was upgraded when they took it, but only a few of us had time to reach the inner keep before it fell. Nice work on the north gate – that may have been the fastest I’ve ever seen a reinforced gate fall! Later, when we pressed to take it back, you held out for a very long time in the throne room, and it ended up being one of the crazier battles I’ve seen. There were several times in a row where I was downed and a GoM player tried to use a finishing move on me, but I got a lucky rally in the nick of time, and I was able to keep going. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, eh?

I’m looking forward to our match-up against GoM again in week 6.

I’m disappointed with the change to the warrior long bow Combustive Shot (CS), but I can understand the reasoning for wanting to rebalance it somewhat. It’s a good skill, but part of the reason it shines is because many of the other warrior ranged attack options have their own sets of problems.

CS is one of the few (only?) AoE DPS skills that the warrior has access to. In WvW, it’s very useful in siege situations, both on offense and defense. One reason for this is because it’s one of the few skills (along with longbow skill #3) that can get around the problematic line-of-sight issues at walls. If I can clearly see my target, why should my ranged attack be blocked by the wall? That really doesn’t make sense. Slightly weakening the CS damage might be ok so long as some of the problems and limitations with other ranged attacks for the warrior are also addressed simultaneously. For example, fixing the various line-of-sight problems that affect longbow attacks #1, #2, #4 and #5 and all the rifle attacks would help. Also, a slight damage buff to one or more of these other ranged attack skills would also be worth considering.

I have encountered the same problem. Using /age, on my main character it says “You have played this character for 804 hours 44 minutes over the past 12 months.” My mailbox is empty. I have not received my birthday gift.

BTW, I created 5 characters during the first day, and none of them have received their gifts.

So will there be an actual limit on, say, how much karma can be stored in this wallet?

I have never held over 999,999 karma on a single character so not sure if the current backpack physically has enough digits to exceed that number. But if the wallet cannot hold more than 999,999 karma I might see some of the karma on alts go to waste if it is all automatically siphened to the wallet on 6th August.

I’ve had over 3.4 million karma on one of my characters, so I know the limit goes at least that high. I suspect it goes up to at least 10 million, 100 million or possibly even higher.

AoE Loot option has no effect

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Kalendraf.9521

The recent update to allow AoE Looting does not seem to be working for me. Under options, I have both the AoE Looting and Auto Looting enabled. When I press F to loot, I still have to click through each loot pile individually. Other players in my guild have indicated that they only have to click once to get all the loot within range. Also, I need to be nearly on top of the corpse to loot, while my guild mates haves indicated they don’t need to be that close.

I’ve experimented in a variety of cases with multiple lootable corpses at different distances (on top of each other, slightly farther apart, even further apart, etc). I observe no difference in behavior based on this distance.

I’m unsure why the AoE loot function is not working for me. I’ve tried enabling and disabling it multiple times, and even restarted the client afterwards, but there is no noticeable change. I see no difference whether the AoE Loot is enabled or disabled. Thus, it seems like the AoE Loot is not working correctly for my client, and it may be bugged.

Is it possible there is some other setting I might be using that is interfering with its behavior?

The new armor and weapon skins

Leaving out the words “and gold” was extremely misleading. At best, it’s an incomplete/inaccurate statement due to the omission. At worst, it’s false advertising.

That would be the case if they had say that they costed ONLY karka shell. They didn’t however, and anyone that actually thought it would be trade-able for shells only were quite naive.

Be careful tossing around accusations of naivety.

The “only” is implicit in the specific wording they used. The phrase “exchange A for B” implies that one only needs to give item B to receive item A.

imho they should remove this 2 gold from those merchants and leave 70 shells alone, and allow ppl to forge those items.. it would boost karka shell price and make your time in Southsun worthwile… now i dont see ANY point of stayin in Southsun..

Based on the wording in the Southsun guide, I was under the impression that the new items would only cost karka shells:

“If all four camps are held by the players, a special merchant will appear on Pearl Islet to exchange armor for karka shells.”

Leaving out the words “and gold” was extremely misleading. At best, it’s an incomplete/inaccurate statement due to the omission. At worst, it’s false advertising.

Shout out to all the SF on EB, Monday night. It was a blast besieging your castle and then defending AP from the counter attack, then besieging the castle again, then defending…

It was one heck of a fight.

I agree. Those back’n’forth attacks there were some of the most fun I’ve ever had in WvW. Fending off waves of SF from multiple sides at AP with multiple walls down was epic. I suspect it felt equally satisfying for them to keep repelling our assaults at the castle.

I wish they would change the text on the error message that occurs when their servers go down. As it is now, the error message casts possible blame on the user’s connection or firewall settings. This could lead an unsuspecting user to try to make changes to their computer or router that are not warranted.

I agree that the ele is underwhelming, but there are 7 other classes to play, and as you say several of them have viable builds and play styles. I once had my heart set on playing an ele in GW2, but I found I didn’t like it. I moved on to another class (warrior) and I’ve been having a blast. I don’t understand why you think the other classes are really boring – they aren’t. In fact, right now I think ele is the least fun class compared to the others.
