when they use hammer walk up to them… hammer damage is low at close range, is slow and can be blinded.
if they use the shield block… guess what, use unblockable skills. it basically screams “please hit me with mirror blade, phoenix or toolbelt pull”.
there is counterplay to everything revenant has, counterplay to surge is strafe, stability or a stunbreak/teleport.
This.
Also I still don’t get it, why it is apparently so hard to double-dodge UA… If this is too hard, then just pop some skills, which grant protection or grant you immunity to damage from all sources for the time being.
As of now, yes. Oh, and don’t forget to run to 1 or 2 allies for a huge damage reduction. You know, that’s how UA works.
All PvP-Maps have more walls than I care to count. So you shouldn’t have a problem finding one.
I’m fully aware of how fragile thiefs are, as I play one myself. And 3 seconds until you’re dead aren’t exaggerated. Just 1v1 a burst burn guard and you know what I mean.
For the love of god, let UA be what it is in its current state besides the wall cancel bug. We have way too many “UA too stronk!!! Nerf pls!!!11” threads. This skill isn’t even hard to counter with this major bug it currently has. Just dodge to a wall and hug it and you’re fine. Seriously, this isn’t rocket science.
I was looking at the title and guessing it was a QQ thread. Apparently, I guessed right.
Unless I’m mistaken, but I do believe dodging skills like Unrelenting Assault works wonders.
It should be level 55 like Death Knights with its own story instance from the past, where parts is from the Mists and how you make it out from there.
While I approve of this idea, they would have less than 4 weeks for implementing this. For starters, in which area should they start? Should they design one starter area just for revenants? That would take some time. And how do you explain their life before becoming a revenant? Also, they need all the voice actors for every race and gender.
So, I pretty much think that’s not going to happen.
Where do elementalists start ?
Where everyone else starts based on the selection of your race?

- Herald – I like a walking buff machine
Also the rev’s going to be my main. - Reaper – This elite spec is the reason, why I’m interested again in my necro.
- Scrapper – The drones and the high CC uptime are cool, but I like the hammer in particular. Can’t wait to try it out.
- Druid – Although I still can’t understand, why we need a nearly full heal elite spec, it looks very interesting.
- Chronomancer – It seems nice, but even the core class is too complicated for me.
- Daredevil – Good on the paper, but the clunky mechanics diminish the fun.
- Berserker – Meh. We have burn guards. We don’t need more burn classes.
- Dragonhunter – The new virtue mechanics are cool, but the rest? Meh.
- Tempest – To be frank, I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit.
Probably, but it wouldn’t surprise me, if you have to pay some gold to unlock it, like some runes and sigils.
Since the spear counts as melee weapon as well as a ranged weapon with two auto attacks, we likely won’t get another underwater weapon.
Roy made a point why the condi transferring had to be removed: It simply didn’t go along with support builds which got high amounts of condi cleansing, because it’s far more annoying to get stripped of your main damage source (aside from the immensly high torment stacking) than getting killed in the first place.
A far better solution would be if they actually nerf burn dmg to the rate where it still hurts but not so much to be downed within seconds.

Legendary Demon Stance
In this stance we had a bit of a bigger change happen. Demon Stance was in an awkward place because it was mechanically cool when you looked at it in a vacuum, but when you were put around other players there was this point of tension which was created. When using demon stance you wanted to manage your conditions and try to keep certain amounts on yourself to empower your skills.Though, allies directly impacted this play style. While you were around allies, especially players running support, it created tension and frustration between the two players. You wouldn’t want to be near these other players that removed conditions from you as it weakened your skills. This isn’t a tension or frustration that we wanted to create between allies so I moved this stance away from focusing on scaling effectiveness based on your personal conditions. As such, the self-conditions didn’t make sense anymore as you had less reason to utilize these so they were removed. Similar to Forceful Displacement, the displace was removed on unyielding anguish and the skill was re-designed a bit.
- Empowering Misery: Removed the self-applied weakness. Increased the base heal by 40% and decreased the heal per condition by 40%.
- Pain Absorption. Removed the self-applied blind.
- Banish Enchantment: Removed the self-applied vulnerability. This skill now applies 3 stacks of confusion for 6 seconds instead of being dependent on the conditions you have on you.
- Unyielding Anguish: This skill has been re-worked. This skill will now leap to the target location creating a dark field which chills for 1 second and torments for 4 seconds per pulse. The field lasts for 4 seconds and pulses every 1 second. Added a 10 second recharge.
- Embrace the Darkness: Removed the self-applied torment. This skill no longer copies conditions to nearby foes. This skill will increase stats by 10% while active and pulse 6 seconds of torment every 1 second to nearby foes.
TBH, you swung the nerfhammer a bit too hard at poor little Mallyx. While I agree mostly with all the other changes, such as Staff 4 not rooting you anymore, the changes on Mallyx are a bit too harsh for my taste.
The displacement on Unyielding Anguish was pretty OP and a bit broken, that’s what I agree with. But making it a field, which can be avoided pretty easily by dodging it, isn’t what I want to spend 35 energy for.
Pain Absorption got indirectly nerfed through the remove of pulsing conditions to enemies with Embrace the Darkness. Seriously, unless you’re running around with more than 20k health and spamming all the other demon stance skills to get your 6 secs of resistance to survive the self-inflicted condi burst, who wants to suck up the conditions your teammates receive?
Banish Enchantment is fine as it is. No critism here. Although I want 1, maybe 2 more confusion stacks to punish the enemy more for having so many boons. (I’m looking at you, my fellow guards and elementalists :P)
Empowering Misery didn’t get nerfed at all as some people think. While the heal per condition is 40% less now, the base heal is 40% more, which results in a base heal of 4648 HP (3320 before that) + 588 HP (980 before that) per condition. So, 12k heals are still possible.
Embrace the Darkness, the elite skill that made condi revenant so much fun, now nerfed to oblivion. Taking away the condition copy, a 10% stat boost and 1 pulsing stack of torment don’t justify the hefty upkeep of 8 energy per second. This skill made the revenant unique in handling conditions and it makes me so sad that it got changed like this. Q.Q
Well, to make it clear: Ventari, Mallyx, Jalis and Shiro aren’t weak, they just fit another playstyle.
Ventari is focused on healing and staying alive without exception.
Jalis is focused on being tanky, especially with the swirling hammers and Rite of the Great Dwarf. This might come in handy for WvW Zerg Frontliners.
Mallyx is focused on condition applying and denying by giving lots of resistance to yourself while “sharing” them with the enemy when you are using the elite skill. Also the legend has a powerful boon strip.
Shiro is for high mobility and has a very good Basilisk Venom-like skill. This legend is almost perfect for PvP.
Glint however is a legend, where all playstyles benefit from it. The perma protection on the elite facet is pretty cool for WvW zerging and the Facet of Strength as well as the Facet of Darkness are good for might and fury stacking on a non-meta-zerker dungeon group.

Tried it out and looks awesome. It won’t be out in time for the next beta weekend, but know that it’ll be coming.
/bump
I’m kinda curious if this is still in development ‘cause it’d be a cool feature to have. If it isn’t, I won’t mind ’cause I know you guys have lots of balancing work for the revenant to do, especially after BWE2, and you are doing a great job at that.
roy stated somewhere else that next BWE there are coming many tweaks to the skills, a missing hand glow on ventari and the dodge animation ;-)
2-3 weeks from now i guess!
Hmm, maybe I should check the forum a bit more after all ’cause I missed that obviously. Thx for the info.

Roy, I’m not sure how much of a team you have with making the Revenant, but please be sure to pass on this post of thanks to them if you do. I’ve edited the first post to include them. With you being the face of the Revenant development, sometimes it’s easy for us to forget your team members.

I had trouble with the Herald GM trait Soothing Bastion in PvP. When it pops up at 25% health, you’re pretty much dead, because you are rooted for the time being and the break bar is broken way too fast. This is also feedback for Crytal Hibernation, because the break bar needs some balance and should last way longer. Currently this skill is a way to kill yourself quickly in a team fight. The heal is nice, though.

95% of the time I’d see swift termination as the best choice.
If that is so why do thieves run improvisation now instead of executioner?
Since when and in which mode? In PvE and dungeons is executioner the obivous better choice.
I’ll swap to rev, because I have no fun with other classes in PvP
Human Female, because of the skins and Charr Male, because of Rytlock
Either Thief or Ranger, though I’d prefer Thief to be revealed first.
I’ll add one more question to that list, does legend swap still trigger weapon’s sigils?
It’s like with the ele’s attunement swaps or the engi’s kit swaps, so yes, I think legend swapping triggers weapon sigils.
WoW is more P2W than GW2 is
Uhhm, no. WoW is a pay2play MMO, not pay2win. There’s a difference between P2P and P2W.
Oh, and I don’t think GW2 is P2W except for one thing, and that’s the Watchwork Mining Pick.
Finish reading the sentence first
WoW is more P2W than GW2 is, because you technically can’t win if you can’t play after failing to pay for your subscription.
Ok, I get what you mean, but not being able to play means neither winning nor losing.
When you pay a monthly subscription for WoW, either through your bank account or through those gamecards or through those WoW Tokens, you are on the same level as others who do that and you don’t have advantages. P2W does not define not being able to play the game.
I could just sit here and explain the joke to you, but not worth the effort. Instead have a disapproving Tommy Lee Jones.
Oh… now I get it… I feel so dumb…
Sry for not seeing it through.

Well, it’s highly unlikely, that we get 10 or 25 man raids, because that’s what the world bosses are for. I hope it’s something like the scenarios in WoW but better.
Whenever I play ranger, I use LB 4 only, when I’m low-health, heal on CD, and the enemy is coming straight at me and wants to eat my face, or in SW Vinewrath, when the enfeeblers want to eat the siege carriers. Else I go into YOLO-mode and switch to GS or S/A.
Sounding awesome to me and yeah I love the beta Revenant Armour too
might be making 2 sets 1 set for fractals and the agony infusions and another for WvW infusions
and I know why you mean I maimed Mesmer since release and I’m getting a little tired of it now I love it but it’s time I kill it off for my Revenant to take over
I don’t even play since release and I regret that. I missed so much of the LS1.
But in the time I played, I loved playing my thief (and even today I do) but since the announcement of HoT and the revenant as new profession, I’ve fallen in love with it. And no matter how weak he will be (and I’m pretty sure he won’t be weak at all) he’s gonna be my new main.
Leeroy Jenkins (sry I had to bring that up
)
Backstory: I leave this blank, because I’m not that creative.
But I’m pretty creative in picking a name for my character.
Race: I’m not sure yet. Either boring old Human or a Charr because of Rytlock.
Weapons: For PvE Sword/Sword + Hammer with Shiro and Jalis or Glint as legends. As for PvP it depends what is more viable in terms of destroying the enemy.
Either Condi Mace/Axe + Staff with Mallyx and Ventari as legends or DPS Sword/Sword + Staff with Shiro and Ventari as legends.
Favourite Legends: Shiro Tagachi and Mallyx the Unyielding
Look: I seriously hope to get that armor from the beta, because it looks totally awesome.
Main or Alt: Probably main, I played my thief for so long, it starts to get boring. But I’m curious about what the thief gets as specialization.
My Top 10:
1 Tybalt
2 Sieran
3 Rytlock
4 Forgal
5 Taimi
6 Marjory
7 Canach
8 Zojja
9 Kasmeer
10 Braham and/or Rox
I think they will, since there are only 4 specializations left to be revealed. And with the release of HoT coming closer every day, they won’t have much of a choice.
What I do hope is that they will make a beta event, so we can test those specializations.
We have Dragonhunter, Chronomancer, Reaper and Tempest. We are still missing Revenant, Warrior, Thief, Druid and Engineer.
Oh… you’re right.
Never mind, I just hope there will be a beta event for testing them.
