Meh, GW2 is good value unless you are a member of a larger gaming community that wants to play together. The Guild System in GW2 is atrocious. Graphics and whatnot are all nice but once you start trying to communicate and organize the glaring defaults in GW2 become apparent (such as the commanders tags).

I gotta agree wholeheartedly with Cloudwalkernz. Instead of giving us some more skins to by with gems give us private chat channels or a redesign of the commander tags or at least the ability to form groups larger than 5 or give guild leaders the ability to see when people last logged on or

I think the majority of negative things being said about SOR this week and last, is about the players who decided not to play for one reason or another. I personally appreciate every SOR player who is still coming out for the fights.

Specifically [choo]. They have a deep roster and they have consistently put a solid force out on the maps over the last few weeks. You guys are also always fun to compete against if BG has a solid force or I am running with my guild.

My sources tell me that Waha and almost all of ATM/FoO walked away from Guild Wars 2 this week. Looks like BG will be the last server standing at the end after all.

Honestly I think the rewards should go to the server that is last in a season rather than 1st. Not many people will tank or quit the game entirely jut to get some mythical chest, especially when fighting the other servers will give you more ‘reward’ than some set box. All the people with mini pet and finisher fetishes can flock to the most populated server and spend the next 7 months not wvw’ing.

They don’t know how to play other classes or use their other abilities in open field, mainly for the lag. Seriously though… they’ve got their PPT. So….

I had fun feeding oPP guys bags at NN late last night, shame they fell back to building two ballistas and a superior arrow cart against PUGs. Perhaps full zerk without group support wasn’t the best idea on my part but it’s just fun making really big numbers and forcing organized groups to peel and focus with a single skills use.

I can see that. I would love to see big numbers but I am built to live in the hate that is the zerg v zerg world of JQ/BG/SoR. Your DPS roamers rarely kill me in their first volley and I can never slay them before they run off or I do.

I think the disconnect here is that the culture of the servers is built around different ideas of combat. Sure there are quite a few small group and roaming guilds on the T1 servers and they love it but most of the T1 players are more interested in the large scale fights, scales of the size and length that hardware might be broken. Maguuma’s culture is not too terribly concerned with that style of fighting, and so we get each group disdainfully dismissing the others players because of this divide in focus.

I really don’t care about the small scale fights, they are just things that happen in WvW to me. It is the massive three server map zerg fights that last hours that really get me going, or the meeting of two 25+ groups in the open field. The small scale stuff used to annoy me, especially the boasting of it (just ask the oPP guys) in the forums, but I am trying to simply live with it because not everyone likes to play the way I do.

Mel! How’s Magguma roamers so far?. I’ll log in a few hrs to finally face some of them. Hopefully the queue isn’t a killer…

They hit hard but are squishier than anything I’ve faced in a long time, same with most Mag hammer trains, a lot of damage output but once you get in the back lines everything is easy. I will admit it is more difficult to get into their backlines than a lot of servers but we’ve been fighting BG Hammer trains for so long that Maguuma’s just aren’t as scary. So, yea I will compare Mag’s Hammer trains to old BG’s (recently BG’s have been a huge disappointment, I think it is due to a lot of new WvW’ers playing now, which isn’t a bad thing).

That forum is like a burning anuss

1. ZDs came to NA to avoid queue in EU
2. We were 15 at best 20 on EU during our prime with 30-40 in queue including 1-2 RL
3. Core WvW players went to slack due to unreal timers on queues
4. No server but BG approached us prior League and invited us in a respectful manner to join their ranks
5. We did not plan to move before the league starts but the Arena’s Net reality adjusted our plans
6. Core ZDs guild which consists of 300 players is on SFR, only WvW department transferred to BG
7. We came to NA BG for a minmum of 8 weeks
8. We play for fun & for server win
9. We never dodge fights
10. Dear IRON, we don’t have to whisper you for fights nor we will since you are the one map jumping from us whole evening, if you want to fight come and fight in game not on the forums.
11. We are thrilled and looking forward to have fun with BULL which is one of greatest enemies we had before

We are glad you’re where you are. Very happy for the opportunity to fight you guys. Fought you a few times so far and it was great. We wiped you. You wiped us. It’s all great fun. Unfortunately you guys end your primetime only a short time into ours and I wish that was different since I’d rather fight you guys than the megablobs of T1.
We always run untagged and try to avoid getting randoms to stick on us. Iron fields around 30 people during prime. Around 40 on a good day. We never back down from a fight and will clash no matter the odds. I assure you, we have never tried to get away from you, nor will we ever do that. We play to fight, but for the good of the server we also have to respond to calls for help on different borderlands when help is asked for.
Also, yesterday we had a very low turnout. There was 26 iron on the commander during primetime and that number was down to 12 iron mid/end prime time. I dunno what was up yesterday, but I was not a happy camper

WM did OT and BG was ticking at 400+ PPT during EU pretty much every day. That’s why IRON transferred when they did. It was pretty justified, too. KISS came out of no where, so there’s not much to say about that, but they aren’t a prescense anymore.

I wouldn’t consider transferring to a time zone with no native pop. justified. Also pretty peculiar for people who claim to play for the fights. Point is, IRON didn’t end up fighting Euros when they transferred (or anyone, for that matter. The new BG strat after IRON transferred was to exploit “Hawaiin time”). The match histories don’t lie. Luckily, HB got rezzed soon after.

IRON didn’t transfer to sor to fight EU. They transferred to SoR because we needed the help the most, especially during that timeslot, because WM was causing BG to tick extremely high during EU. They’ve said it themselves when they transfferred here on the forums. SoR needed help the most, that’s why they joined us. It was both a logical and justified decision. IRON was dying in EU(actually the official EU IRON is dead, the ones that transferred was a fraction of the original IRON IIRC), and they wanted to move to NA. SoR offerred the best option for them.

Actually you’re wrong. The reason that we left desolation was because of two big reasons:
we became fed up with the server and it’s people. It was a very toxic enviroment filled to the brim with drama, insults, backstabbing and generally bad conduct. we pretty much carried the server and got nothing but crap thrown back in our faces. We had a community ts set up for everyone to use. they managed to ruin that too and cause drama over. we had an EB branch of iron that saw one of it’s highest officers steal everything we put in to the guild bank and go off create their own guild while spitting insults of the worst kind to wrex. they still send her whispers etc wishing her all the worst and death by different illnesses, like 12yo kids. we got worn out pulling mad hours week after week because the majority of desolations playerbase is 100% pve’ers who almost never went in to wvw. the list goes on. but all in all, we wanted away from there because of the drama, toxic enviroment and the lack of wvw participation.

reason two was Visuna. Iron wants fights. fighting is what we like to do. ppt is and always will be secondary to us. eu tier1 had gone incredibly stale. Visuna had an entire map blob but refused to come out of their keeps… EVER. they siege capped every tower and keep and had their entire force sit on arrowcarts 24/7. It was so boring we started crying blood. we wanted fights, so we left for NA.

The reasoning for picking SOR over any other NA T1 server was very simple and logical. Who had the shortest queues? Who faced the most enemies? Who had the biggest wvw guilds?

sor faced the most enemies in wvw at any given time
bg had the biggest wvw guilds

so we went to the server where we would have no queues and be able to fight the biggest forces. as simple as that. we transferred to fight, not for ppt. our move was, as should be for any guild, for the good of the guild and it’s members.

Serious question, in an atmosphere that is described as toxic who are the ones who experience this? The guild leaders or the general populace. As a member of SoR’s general populace I have no idea what the mover and shakers guilds are doing nor if everyone gets along. I mean, TS is always cordial and friendly and seems to work well, there also there seems to be no real conflicts, so I guess am asking when a server becomes toxic does the general populace feel it or is it still confined to the to leaders?

Desolation’s wvw map chat was just a never ending scrolling of insults, flaming, name calling, whining and other spam. The general tone on TS was bad. The server meetings on TS was 99% drama and refusal to cooperate with one of the loudest voices refusing to hear anything wrex said because she’s a woman. LA map chat was full of hate and when asking for people to come help in wvw you were told to go have interactions of a sexual nature with yourself. It was just bad… very bad.

Wow, yea that is definitely and obviously toxic. I was just wonder who comes into contact with such behavior (I recently found out from my guilds commanders that commanding in WvW is just inviting a constant assault of insults) and I was wondering where this completely other, darker world existed that I had never experienced before was.

I guess map chat and general behavior in TS or whatever is the best key since commanders shield you from so much.

we would be excited. the problem is that zd’s stop playing only one hour into our primetime so we haven’t been able to fight them much at all. as always we’re stuck with around 30 iron + randoms vs the coin+rk+randoms map zerg. wish they could run those two guilds separate from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, I love the challenge it poses to fight a much bigger force, but having to wait 20 seconds just to switch weapons makes it kinda bad.

Everyone is to scared of IRON to split up.

The question now is can BG keep pushing itself this hard the rest of this week and for the next two? BG has burnt out before from the overtime and all calls.

Don’t get me wrong I love reading the posts of your guild leader Gully, but you drew my ire with one forum brag to many, maybe it was because I was reading the JQ/SoS/Mag thread but I have been getting a bit sick of the roamer elitists posts for a while. Roaming is essentially a selfish act in WvW and bragging about a selfish act when there are loads of people who scout and never post about that yet they help their server more is getting a wee bit ridiculous. It is like winning isn’t enough for roamers but they have to gloat as well.

“I did something to such and such guild, they are all lame”. Take your latest belittlement of FEAR, a guild that I have seen trounce more than their own number of many a server (including BG), you call them lame in a public forum and expect not to be heckled? oPP can’t do what FEAR does, should oPP be belittled because of that? Stop bragging about your own accomplishments so much and brag about the accomplishments of others, you will have a better rep.

You’re wasting your time. You’re basically asking roamers not to be roamers. If they were purely in it for the fights, there’s plenty of 1v1 fighter games out there. If they were in it for small group action, there’s always those shooters.

There’s a reason they’re doing it in an MMORPG, after all. These players probably HATE the fact that you can’t see their username. They wanna show off their skill by fighting alone, but people can’t see…precisely because they’re alone. So they gotta point it out now and then.

And it’s their right and it’s their fun. If a roamer wants to chase me and gank me and celebrate it while I’m trying to get to the objective I wanna scout or get back to my guild, they’ve earned it. If they wanna mock my guild tag as well on the forums to draw attention to that fact, they’ve earned it too…although whatever video they post up with it will probably be kitten poor coz all it’ll show is me running until I die and their sheer awesomeness as a chaser (which is probably why they wouldn’t bother much). =P

Some of us little zerglings are quite aware our builds aren’t particularly useful alone. But I digress…Just…roamers gonna roam. Gotta live with it.

I rarely post and only when people talk trash. Look at the recent posts of our guild. Other than the obvious light hearted trolling posts, they are in response to zerlings/zerg guild scrubs or just crap pvp’ers talking trash.

Bragging would be oPP posting vids of our small man wrecking all these scrubs and their guild groups over and over on the forums.

You are right and to be honest I was reading the posts in the JQ/SoS/Mag thread that the maguuma heroes are making. Your guild may have been the victim of wording and transference, merely the closest target at hand. I apologize for trashing an entire guild in such a way.

I was indeed hoping to spark a conversation about it because it’s rather confusing to me.

You have this 30 man group trying to pin down a group of 3-4 players while running around and trying to cap orbs which they don’t feel like defending.

I know this is something we should really ask our own zergs, why they aren’t putting the pressure on but it’s more fun to hear it from the enemy

Usually my play time is the morning (my time) with the Aussies (tail end of OCX and beginning of SEA) and BG are the ones with the zerg in the bloodlust areas. We often don’t hold any of the bloodlust during that period, it is all you and JQ. When I do play at your time I am generally running in small to small-ish groups and really, it is a tossup who’s zerg frequents the ruins the most.

You know oPP likes to talk big in the forum but I kill them as often as they kill me and I am not really all that great at pvp.

A lot of TC zergs pretty squishy, a lot more so than I remember. I’ve seen more of ours (SoR) break apart with little effort too, and BG hammer trains just don’t have that finality they usually do.

I’m not sure why there is so much hate for JQ. We bust our kitten everyday. Some commanders stay pinned up for 14 to 18 hours. That’s called dedication, not an easy schedule.

I would argue, the benefit of coming into the season as the #1 server gave us the better schedule, which is generally the benefit of being a #1 seed in any Tournament. Usually #2 v #3 is in the cards before one of them meets the #1 seed in any kind of finally, upsets aside.

Edit: Thing is, we don’t know how the season will pan out, and Butter is just being boastful in his feelings that SoR or BG will come out on top.

Are you sure? Gaile Gray said the schedule is a completely random arrangement so as each server gets to compete with all servers at least one time. And it has nothing to do with #1 before the league. Or, you are trying to tell us something we don’t know and Anets is hiding?

The EU #1 Glicko Ranked server got a similar schedule apparently (I don’t actually know because I don’t know the strengths of the EU servers but someone suggested it somewhere).

Try other things, escort yaks, scout (I spent 6 hours in a tower once this week just staring at the digital expanse and praying that BG or JQ would show up and try to take the tower), go find small group fights, the happen all the time.

Today, I got into a fight with a JQ Necro, his/her zerg hit ours and shattered us in the middle of the ruins. I ran like the devil was on my heels and a Necro chased after me, we fought back and forth all the way to the water camp and then back to the center before we parted ways, neither of us having killed the other. It was awesome, almost as awesome as the time 6 of us chased and tried to kill a KnT mesmer from North West camp all the way to Garri water gate, we eventually did slay him/her, but it left me scarred for life when it comes to KnT mesmers.

If JQ wins out the rest of the season then the best SoR can do is tie with them and BG can beat them by 1 point, but then BG would have to beat SoR three weeks in a row. The entire reason for forcing JQ into a third place finish is to ensure that it is possible for someone else to have a chance at a first place finish.

I am not surprised that at lot of 2v1 accusations get thrown around when our servers fight because most offenses are going to end up in 2v1 out of common sense. Say SoR decides to hit a JQ held strong point, then BG will also make a go at it and hope to win the 3 way battle, because they might luck out and most of the JQ defenders may have already committed to fighting off SoR.

Basically all three servers are well versed enough in each other and on equal enough footing it makes sense to put the pressure on the defending server hope to split their forces and then deal with the other servers force, with the hope it will have been hurt more.

Going after the server who is on the offensive and not defending is much trickier since they obviously have a fairly strong mobile force and that force can disengage and move to defend at the cost of leaving the defending server with a mobile force they can suddenly move. Also, once the offensive force disengages to defend they and the defending force they were fighting could move anywhere and do anything, while the two are still fighting the third server knows where they are and can safely predict their actions (seizing or defending the objective in question).

Beware BG has done this to us (SoR) before, you start heckling them one week when they appear weak and the next or the one after they come back and sucker-punch you in the jaw. I dislike BG a lot, mostly for all those weeks in T2 with them, but they always come back harder, faster, and stronger.

No it’s not, stop trolling. Drop bears kill over 300 people annually, they are a bane to australias tourism industry and the majority of the deaths come from foreigners who don’t know there are just some parts in the bush where you just don’t go.

Also, Le Rooster photographed a feared Asura Drop Mesmer in the bush. What a specimen. Beware of his Chaos Storm when he drops down to attack. He will kill not only you but anything else in a two kilometer radius. They especially like to drop down on zerglings for pleasure and bags. The only warning you will ever have is a distant noise that might be said to resemble “My life for hire” before they hit you.

Some of them do actually bite, just stay in their field of vision and try and limit any quick movements. Having a slower moving friend there with you would certainly be a plus.

Huh? What Krash said is pretty much the server’s history. It’s true. I am not sure what you mean Kiltor.

He probably takes issue with referring to SoR as a bandwagon server, as would most if not all serious players on the server. Also, there’s a decent amount of inaccuracies in the post. The real game changer for SoR was back when TW and a couple of other guilds left JQ to escape the queues and moved to SoR. This move is what pushed SoR into the #5 spot, where they ran into BG and superior coverage for 9 weeks. Then free transfers ended and yes, some SBI moved to SoR but not a ton. SF and Rage for example moved to JQ. A couple guilds went to BG and elsewhere, and of course WM to Kaineng. Even still, SoR needed more than just a couple SBI guilds to get where they are today, and they did over time to their credit.

While the WM transfer is what really opened the floodgates, I would argue that LoD quitting the game had the largest impact on SBI, and set everything in motion. SBI was having to push way to hard after that to compete against JQ and SoS, and it was wearing on them big time. When the end of free transfers was announced, SBI was limping and the WM move ignited a rush for the door.

Wagons come and go. Some push a server to the top for awhile, and some never get over the hump. But in the end, no wagon lasts forever, so there’s really no point in calling them out.

So please, what other inaccuracies do you detect?

Don’t get to caught up in details. People of one server may see their history differently than those of another. So mostly Kiltor had issue with some of your version of the history, but it was probably minor and could be explained away at a difference in perspective.

We on SoR didn’t see the SBI guilds as a major server changing factor, but that was probably because we were on the rise and had a system in place but they did come at a time when shortly after we did move into T1, and so SBI people might see that differently. Nothing really to quibble about, merely two different perspectives.

Enjoyed the Full Map Blobs from both JQ and BG double teaming us on hills in JQ, wiping them both in the Lords Room, and then having JQQ use their, lets say… “Abilities” to shoot superior arrow carts into the Lords Room.

They were only hitting the entrance from just on the corner literally anyone could do it and it’s been done so many times I wouldn’t complain.

No, they were not hitting the bottom of the stairs, just the top third or so of the stairs. There was no ‘hacking’ or whatever that I could see, we got rousted out and that is all there is to it.

This week is glorious so far. I don’t care if we win or lose. This is what WvW needs to be every week, three servers slugging it out to the bitter end. I hope it continues.
