Quite frankly I am frustrated with their lack of or vague communication and overly long periods between patches; “when it’s ready” philosophy doesn’t quite work when the game is already released. PvP has become bland and boring, and there are still tons of unfixed bugs.

Peace. ArenaNet needs to get their kitten together.

You’re posting on their forums. You are obligated to follow their rules, or they can act as they see fit. Its not an “almighty overlord” thing, it’s a this is there property and your agreed to the rules kind of thing. Get over yourself.

Maybe if they would do their jobs like most other companies and atleast hire some moderators to respond to the NUMEROUS questions and concerns people have we wouldn’t have to resort to posts like this. But GG on sucking anets dick I’m sure they’ll give you some brownie points!

tbh I can’t stand either of these mechanics and I don’t think they really belong in a competitive pvp scene like anet claims they want this game to be. Then again people will argue that you have to change your strategies to work with these things. I still hold my view that these are some of the worst mechanics of any pvp map I have ever played. Lord giving you way to many points all you have to do is LOLzerg rush it at 350 and the game is yours, while treb can be dodged it still does way too much damage. I can live with the treb because it can be utilized to give a team that can’t win a team fight the advantage, but lord has to go.

Not trying to knock on you here because I love seeing other dagger necros, I believe it to be one of the strongest builds…but I mean half of the people in this video are just trying to run away from you, not very hard to kill people that don’t really fight back. On another note gj thou dagger ftw!

ANET earned great respect and many fans with GW1 pvp. It was huge, very well made, with some brilliant groundbreaking ideas.

Why they had to tear it all down and start from scratch, i do not know. However it’s not developers fault, probably not even the fault of the game designer that is in charge of pvp. The fault lies with the person even higher up the food chain, someone that decided that GW2 will revolve around pve and completely subdued pvp to that idea.

GW2 pvp will probably never be what it was in GW1, not unless ANET changes their policy about how much time and money they want to invest into it, and even in that case, IF they SOMEHOW manage to fix this thoughtless … thing … called pvp it will take them like a year at the least.

Too bad ANET failed at one of the lessons that we all learn really early on in our lives – never fix what ain’t broken… GW1 wasn’t broken, it was a masterpiece.

… And they had it all …

P.S. Oh and I don’t have a problem with GW2 being a different game. I was totally ready to accept a Guild Wars game that was different than GW1. Different – Yes, 10 seps back in pvp evolution that evolved to a very high level with GW1 – No.

I agree with you here that it was probably someone higher up that decided to make this a pve game. Even if that is so why did they hype this game as the next big pvp esport? That is mainly what caused all this frustration players that came here for pvp are experiencing.

Sorry to hear you guys are done for now had some great games against you seether, but I can’t say that I blame you. I’m still trying to play daily but sadly D3 has becoming more rewarding and also the fact I can’t put together a solid 5 man for the life of me :/

yes there is only 2 ideas to fix this game.

the best being if ANET decides to move away from 8 teams need to q and just match 1 team vs 1 team like SWTOR does and put them on a random map. (they can even take the SWTOR 3 game modes to make some ppl happy).

either way no matter what they are deciding to do they need to do something fast otherwise it will only be me and kalifa in the mist talking to each other now asking for a 1v1 playlist because everyone is gone.

lol right, either way is fine with me just please ANET actually respond to something here and let the players know what you are doing/planning to do. Stop keeping the players in the dark. We are after all the only reason you all have jobs.

I like whoever suggested just matching two teams up to play a best of three.

I also like this idea. Either that, or just replace 3-round tourneys with a single map match between two teams.

I really don’t know why tourneys are the core mode of play to begin with. Requiring 8 teams to do anything just seems wasteful to me and, IMO, might be one of the reasons they’re having trouble implementing a matchmaking system – since matching 40 players together can be problematic compared to matching 10 players together, especially once you get to higher ratings.

I’d really rather have single map matches w/ two teams as the basic, every day game mode while leaving 8-team tourneys as a monthly or seasonal thing.

Yeah, this is probably one of the easiest fixes. As many others have stated the tourney system is just not working imo. Even when I win 2 out of the 3 matches I still feel like I have lost overall. My sense of accomplishment is just not the same as it is when I win the 3rd round. I strongly support either making it a 1 round game, or 3 rounds versus the same team. I feel this would bring more people into the tpvp scene.

lets be honest here, the maps in this game for these matches are just awful..Boring and bland..

As much crap as SWTOR gets, Huttball is still probably the best PvP Map i’ve played in an MMO, followed by a couple of the Warhammer Online ones….(TSW El dorado map was also really well designed, just never popped)

Till they make the SPvP maps interesting and add a reason to actually do SPvP (Also another thing that keeps this game down..Warhammer Online,TSW,SWTOR all gave you something for doing it..hell even WoW did.. same with Rift… There really isn’t any reason for me to ever bother with SPvP in this game) no one will actually waste time with the game.

Elder Scrolls Online has already saw the writing on the wall, and are just going to flat out not have instance pvp in their game.

Yeah huttball was really fun and new. Anet needs to do some thinking outside the box.

I agree with you on the fact that more game types are necessary. While I do enjoy conquest playing one map type over and over gets old fast. I can’t stand the fact anet hides behind the stance of not being able to balance the game when other map types are implemented. Every other pvp mmo I have played has offered 3+ game modes at launch usually more. These games weren’t any less balanced then what we see in gw2 today.

Yeah I think you have said it pretty well plague. I can remember when I started this game how discouraging pvp was. It was incredibly confusing and hard to get the hang of. I was honestly about to quit, but I kept playing and got better and I now I can’t get enough of the pvp. This game is certainly not newbie friendly and that does push many players away.

Let me start off by saying I really do love this game. I really enjoy the pvp even with all the current bugs and imbalances. It’s a sad day for me when i see the player base becoming less and less by the day. Paid’s haven’t popped in about 4 days now, and most serious pvpers have been reduced to pug stomping in frees if they didn’t already quit. My question is how far will this go before we can get an anet response? There have been many great ideas purposed here on the forums over the last few weeks that seem to have gone ignored. Poor communication with the players is one of the main reasons why we see such a huge reduction in player base. I’m going to ride this game out because I truly do love it, I just hope there are others out there that feel the same.

While you may see this as a significant reduction in damage I have to disagree. You must take into consideration that to reach 2.1k toughness I have to reduce my own damage output by 50% or more. I just don’t believe that the reduction is significant enough.

Then again this is just my take on it. I only made this post because myself and the people I play with all feel like toughness suddenly became less important in pvp. It just feels like an unnecessary stat to me atm.

As you can see there is a damage reduction with toughness. It seems to be around 3k looking at backstab alone. The thief was still able to kill me in just about the same amount of time. The question is, is it worth it to nerf you damage output so greatly for such a slight reduction in damage.

Yeah that’s the general conclusion testing it with 2.1k toughness it takes a theif about 1 extra second to kill me then running with 1k. Better off just giving yourself more damage and less toughness.

He is a necro; necros scale poorly with toughness, specially if they have low sources of healing. The impact of toughness on a high HP necro with poor healing is significantly lower than on a low health prof with powerfull healing. They are called guardians, by the way.

I was testing this with a guardian also, he feels the same as I do.

Didn’t take screenshots on the damage done after death we were doing it during que downtime. I will do some more and post findings. I personally switched from 1.6k to 1k toughness on my necro and I noticed that I don’t die any faster. It’s my personal opinion that currently vitality > toughness.

We were doing some thief burst damage testing on 1k, 1.6k, and 2.2k toughness. The mitigation from having higher toughness seemed minuscule to say the least. But hey maybe it’s just me.

Anyone else feel like they stealth nerfed toughness? The people I’ve been talking with seem to agree that it’s just not as effective as it used to be say pre-patch. Was just curious on everyone’s thoughts.

Another thing that bothers me about the new rez timers is the importance or winning the inital fight. The team that loses the fight is left with 1 defender on home point if he didn’t die already leading to a quick 3 cap while everyone is waiting to rez. It makes comebacks near impossible.

I have to agree with you here. Not only is it a slap in the face to the pvp community that anet can only spare 2 devs for pvp, but then they think changes like this are for the better? Anet is going down the same path EA took with sw:tor, and all that leads to is a dead game no one gives a kitten about.
