" do not add anything of real value":
Styles are everything. People either go pvp/wvw or farm for a certain style. Because cape is a new kind of style in gw2, it does have some value.
“Variety of races”:
Yes gw2 do have a lot of races, but doesn’t other games have it too ? They all managed to make capes, so it should be able for arenanet to do it also! Nothing is impossible!
“variety of armours”: Same reason as above ! And a possible solution is to make the top part of the cape to your lower back static with low animation. Then make the lower part a bit “flowy”.
And like I already said, there is really a high amount of clipping already !
And as for where anet should spent their time on:
Do you like the outfits they spent their time on ? Most of these outfits didn’t sold well at all, except for a few(wedding).
They have a set amount of members doing a certain kind of work, and the part that makes new styles is what I am refering to. Give capes a chance !
If you don’t want it, then fine, I don’t want all kind of outfits either, because I like to style my own set of gear. But it doesn’t hurt to have one, does it ?
Yes, but it have been 3 years already ! They create all kind of backpieces in the meantime, starting with fracs until now with the wings. But none are capes ! And I think they refused to do it once, because of some asura logic(I think), that a cape might be in the way while fighting. I mean, aren’t all backpieces kind of in the way when fighting ?
Please Anet!
I know you guys are against it because of the clipping issue, but there are so many things, especially backpacks, that are already clipping in this game! Why can you make wings and not capes ? Why are you so against this when people loved it so much in gw1 ?
I have been waiting since pre-launch, believing that you will create a cape one day !
Look at WoW, they have so many capes, but none of them have any issue at all!
Please Anet! Heroes need capes to looks likes heroes !
I even went ahead and created a cape with my just-learned-how-to-do-it-skills in the attachments. And I believe capes aren’t as hard as wings to make !
Please consider it Arenanet ! You will sell a lot in the gemshop, I promise !

My opinion: Still easy, but not too easy anymore
My opinion:
Skill 1: Arrow is too slow for a 1200 range attack
Skill 2: Can’t move while using this, seriously ?
Skill 3: Too low dmg, not good for pve
Skill 4: Can only shoot forward, ,maybe just me want to shot it backwards too
Skill 5: Hard to tell, good in pvp if they stay sooo long in the aoe, bad if not. For pve this has kinda weak dmg, but locks non champ enemies, which is nice. Think the lock should be applied earlier, it takes too much time
Virtues:
- Leap have too short range, also can’t get out of immobilize
- Effects should be applied at the beginning like someone said
- Virtue of justice and dat throw.. weak and waste of time
- Virtue of courage is good
It has been bothering me for a while that we cannot save a build in a slot like in gw1.
In gw1 you can create a build and save it as a txt data on your computer and name the build to remember to what that build is for.
I think it would be nice to have a similar one in gw2 too, so we can create one for:
- Dungeons, or specific encounters
- Different Fractals
- Open World, Guild stuff
I think 5 Slots should be enough for everything.
To even futher that idea, I think that we should be able to equip multiple sets of equipment too, which can be changed OUTSIDE the battle. I have like 4 sets of equipment for different purpose, and it is kind of annoying to look for the correct one. At the same time, it consumes a lot of slots in my bag. I have multiple sets of weapons too.
I hope anet will consider this in the future, maybe in the expansion.

hmm a quick brain storm
Deco:
- a BIIIIIG plush animal
- minis
- few of my unlocked weapons in a display case
- jump pads just for fun
- labyrinth with disabled map
- my own statue mwuhahah
I vote for harpy, we need a flying race
Just one suggestion from me:
Make them visible when they are near you, similar to WoW.
It can be:
1. visible in a 180° where you are facing(with a max range ofc.)
2. visible in a smaller radius around your character
That way, you still have a chance to catch him before he takes the initiative. At the same time, it doesn’t break the thief, because they still have high mobility to take the initiative first. And you also get the chance to catch him in case he is running away to reset the fight over and over again.
Only in the shadow refuge the thief is completely invisible while standing inside.
Just my 2 cent.
I tested sinister condi guard for a while. You get power + precision + condi dmg from sinister armor, which is nice, especially if you can make use of condi dmg AND physical dmg. But the problem is, the medium physical dmg(around 2-3k) + high cond(up to 10k burnticks, average around 4-5k) still doesn’t top zerkers dmg. With zerker, every physical attack does top dmg, which makes most of guards skills. The latest meta, which uses mace, can hit up to 8k with the final strike in auto atk in cof. Playing condi requires permanent 10k ticks to top that, which is not possible.
New proposals:
Skill 4: Shield dash/Finisher:
Variant 1:
By using 4, you charge forward. When you arrive in front of the enemy, your character uses a blast finisher(by jumping up and bash the enemy), which also does more dmg than leap of faith(because skill 4>3), stuns for 1 sec, and put protection(at least 5 seconds) on your allies. The finisher can be activated before arriving by pressing 4 again.
Variant 2:
You charge forward, and if you arrive in front of your enemy, you stick to him(and continue follow him if he moves away) and do 4 times damage with your shield(not by swinging the shield, but by using the force of your charge).
The first hit will provide a blast finisher, and allies around you will receive protection(5s).
The damage is a little bit higher than variant 1, because it doesn’t stun.
The skill icon also looks more like a shield charge anyways.
Skill 5: Your character no longer needs to channel it, but creates a dome that have the same max duration on the place you have used it.
[Skill 4 is inspired by Vindictus: Fiona’s shield dash]
(edited by Kirnale.5914)
Wrong build. I play burning guardian and it is op as hell in pve. Burning can do up to 7-8k dmg. Add physical dmg to it and see them die lol. And somehow shouts aren’t that good anymore.
Am I the only one that thinks of water 7 in one piece ? XD
Sinister is not bad for guardian. Tried it for CoF and 5-7k dots is quite nice and fun. And the physical damage isn’t half bad. Around 1-3k phyical dmg + 4-7k dots. Zerker may still be better but sinister is more fun
in my opinion:
Shield 4: Taunts the enemy for 10 sec, gain protection and regeneration for 5 sec
Shield 5: Applies protection for all allies standing inside the dome (5sec)
Yes, give the guardian an tank skill. That way, we could create possible tanky build(instead of zerkers only) and add some strategies along with it
Anet needs to set conditions on this.
Example:
1. Players can be vote kicked when he is afk for 5mins
2. Players can be vote kicked anytime when they are offline
3. Active players can only be kicked before they cleared 50% of the dungeon
The reason I never go to bigger dungeons like arah
I like the new one. The old lion’s arch looks a bit messy. Also, the new one has a lot more stunning places. Heck, even places that never interestest me now looks amazing
noo exclusive items should be exclusive !
I like them, especially on my ranger
Well, I think of it as a bonus, since I pre-ordered it while everyone was raging. But thanks for raging, nice addition to my account. Ofc. thanks anet
Guild Halls have been always something that I wanted. Sadly, the ones created in the past weren’t good enough. Gw2 came with a few nice idea that I always wanted to see.
In addition to the existing ideas, which has been implemented, there are plenty of ways to make guild halls an even better place to be. That ofc., might be expensive to develop, but these are just ideas.
There is a chance that I might mention things that have been officially comfirmed.
Few things that comes in mind:
- Alliances(up to max 2) with other guild. Both guilds will receive guild rewards when playing together. You can invite them to visit your guild hall and have an extra chat tab [Alliance: Guild name 1]
This also leads you to have a new building. Players from other guild will be teleported to that place and marked as visitor.
- Guild dungeons, it could be a tower with 100s of levels with save points, starting from the lowest difficulty or just simple a long dungeon
- More guild missions: Defeat a mighty boss that could drop unique skins(He scales with the number of players)
- Housing. Since guild halls are instanced, it is possible to create and expand a whole city, as well as decorate them.
For Example: You start out with 20 camp, by using guild upgrades, you could raise it to, let’s say, 400 camps at max. These camps can be upgraded to houses by players that are currently in it. Also give it some bonuses: Going offline while in your bed: Getting buffs like increased karma and gold, depending on how long you have been sleeping. etc. etc.
- Mission board with daily tasks for guild members, for both solo and group tasks, which rewards players with the new guild currency and a few coins
- Upgrades: Movement speed increased while in guild hall, except the arena section
- Mini games: Such as a shooting gallery that save the record of the best shooter.
(1min time: x target hit) with small rewards or a “mario” cart like mini game with the new charr cars
- “Influence” or guild currency you get for all guilds that you have joined(I don’t think crosschat will fix the problem)
- Guild Shop: Guild Outfits
- Guild farm: You can place seeds, water them and see them bloom the next day. You can also keep animals and train them for a race.
That’s it from me. Some idea might sound crazy, but yeah
Do you have anything that can be placed with the current guild hall ?
(edited by Kirnale.5914)
Seriously, how many of you are actually looking at your opponent’s aegis effects during a fight in either 1vs1 or bigger scales ?
And when you are attacking an opponent from behind you won’t see the aegis most of the time. Why ? Aegis is only visible when you draw out your weapon(s).
If you truly care about what cond/boon they have, you would look at the cond/boon bar to see all of them, not just aegis.
So I don’t understand why people would call this a battle mechanics, since the only visible one is aegis. I played guardian longer than most people here(since beta weekend(s)) that why I can say that the visual effect really doesn’t matter in a fight.
I agree to keep the initial aegis effect on activation though.
You have it backwards. You have to perfectly position the camera to have Aegis “ruin” the screenshot; there are many more angles where you can’t even see it then ones where it will play any role.
Show me a way to make a screenshot with my grinning shield:
- without seeing aegis at all
- showing the “grinning” of my shield, the front side
You see, it’s impossible as long as aegis is on. And yes, people buy shields to look at it, not to avoid it.
Also, it’s almost makes 50% of the angle where you can see aegis with a shield on. With focus, you can see it 100% from everywhere.
Optional is the name of the game here. People should be able to turn stuff off if they want to. They can do whatever they want with their game. However, requesting that something be removed whether everyone else likes it or not is ridiculous.
I may agree with you on this one. There are many ways to do it, but having the option to choose is always the best.
(edited by Kirnale.5914)
I don’t know too much about programming, but I think it shouldn’t be that hard to remove something from a game ? It’s not like it is game breaking by changing a few things, especially something that has been bugging the guardian community for as long as gw2 exists. There was one time I requested the flute to be fixed by inserting a “pause” button instead of “unequipping” the instrument, anet reacted to that pretty fast and included it in the following patch.
I mean, for others, this might not be a big deal, but for people like me who tends to design my character, even if the choice is bad, it is indeed a big deal.
It’s like having a fly in your room, you don’t care for it at first, but if it’s still there after hours, it will surely become very annoying.
all skin, max slots in bank+inv+char, buy all unique stuff, buy all permanent stuff, get all finisher, all minis
Finally some attention to this matter! I also have a ghastly grinning shield, but it just look soooo disgusting with aegis around. Have been waiting for a long time for them to fix this, but they still haven’t done anything!
They should just:
- change the animation to something different or turn it off completely
- like others suggested: toggle-able aegis
- make aegis only visible by entering a battle
- turn the animation off in PvE
- turn the animation off when wearing a shield
Few options to choose from, hope anet will finally consider this case!

0-45€ more is too much for an expansion, less is good for me
I play with 20 FPS and got through easily. In matters of FPS, it would be harder when I am below 5 FPS, but still possible as long as I don’t go for the diving goggles (My laptop have 7 fps, pc 20~). If I am having trouble with FPS, then I would have more trouble in combat rather than jumping. But you DO need a good internet in both.
@Raenzjar.4210, this JP IS solo friendly. Everyone I know got through it ALONE in just a couple of minutes. The only point people struggled is the part where the diving goggles is. And I never saw a mesmer portal being used other than the diving goggles part. Also I read you can dodge, so the Sun aspect should be no problem(Since dodging must be done fast on timing so you don’t have much time to think/react/moving you fingers). The Jumping(Wind) aspect should also be no problem, it is a)next to where ur supposed to use it and b) easy to use. Just press 1 1 1 1 1 SPAM it. Should be possible if u can play gw2’s combat. So the only one is the lightning. You take it(Also next to it) and use where you take it. No need to position at all, since you are already in position. You only need to move ur mouse to the spot and press the button. This can be done even before you take the lightning aspect.
@Zin.1673 You are so right.
I thought the same when I wanted to buy silk for damask. I was like: "Oo was it always this fast ?? " then i asked my guild and also some on map chat and they also stated that it was super fast. Dunno if this will stay or not, but I hope so, because it’s incredible ;D
did anet think this through ?
1.) Farming tickets(Slow)
2.) Using the tickets consumes a lot of time(Slow)
3.) Buying tickets with festival token(Reward= -gold)
So let’s sum this up:
Recipe = -2*yourtime – yourgold -yournerves
Example: ME
Farmed about 300 tickets, bought some tickets, used the tickets, opened the bags.
Reward: Reduce my gold, waste my time, makes me wanna puke at the RNG.
This is as hard as getting a precursor, and I am NOT joking.
Whoever the composer was, he is one hell of a genius. Every tone hit where it should, it’s emotional, epic, sad and beautiful. Everything fit’s into the new, rebuilding LA. Don’t ever fire those who created this. This is what I imaged a gw2 music to be. Big compliment from my side, and yeah “Battle On The Breachmaker” was also a great end-boss music.

Being able to dodge all the time is almost the same as invulnerability. And I don’t care if they are “stronger” by using stealth, as thief are suppose to be one. But you can’t make something like perma dodge, every class would be happy to trade their boons for perma dodge. If they are not OP, then tell me, how can you kill things that are not hitable ? (Besides, the thief won against 2 of us, since we can’t hit him)
I came from the guard appartment and I also never complained about any classes, but yesterday I fought a thief with this build and I just couldn’t hit him. Everything I do, he evades. For 5 mins fight I hit him only twice with my ranged weapon. I didn’t want to say this, but it’s clearly OP. Image you as thief fighting other classes who can dodge all the time. You would say the same thing. I have played many games so I can tell what’s op or not. Also, he dodged through the whole WvW main zerk, the commander even tried to kill him because he suggest that the thief is an spy.
i agree, they should have made the female version more like the male version. There is so much detail in the male version, but female looks sooo plain. It feels like there were two different designer.
I’ve got this problem too pls fix it quickly!
Happens to me too since that patch. I’ve played since beta and I know this skill wasn’t interrupted by monsters, or me accidentally use other skills or dodge etc. . It occurs completely random and as said above, more frequently in bigger zerks. Clearly needs a fix, cause it interrupt my burst. :/
How about this ? Remove the last skill “Return”, replace it with “Pause.” And to unequip the flute: Switch Weapon button. I think my idea is perfect.
I seconded you. Change it back pls !!
Now the flute is even worst than the Marriner’s horn.
I also think this makes the flute bad. At first I thought it was just a sound bug, but I found it in the patch notes, and I was surprised that they came up which such a bad idea. They should make an extra button to stop ANY notes, and leave the weapon switch button on and make the stop button on the “Return” skill. Return just isn’t needed, because you already have the weapon switch for it.
