There are a few ways to grab gold:
- World bosses
- Dungeons
- Dungeon selling(solo)
- Flipping
- Vinewrath
- SW chest farm
- Guess the prices; Buy when it’s cheap and sell it later when it spikes. gw2spidy can help a bit
- Harvest stuff and sell(for example platinum and wood in sparkfly fen) if you run out of better options
- craft and sell
- Daily pvp reward for reward track, Daily WvW

He is fine. Because he never uses what you mentioned anyways. “It is balance, because I ignore them.”… is what I took from his post. Simply skipping stuff and denying that it need some rebalance.

Seriously, if he likes them so much, he should show me a build with signet of mercy and spirit weapons for any game mode. Ofc it should be just as strong as the current meta build. It is balanced for him after all, since he doesn’t want us to suggest any changes to guardian.

On a side note: Games usually balance skills, trait/build and everything based on PVP if they have one and focus on it. Because competition against each other requires most balance. Anet is same, they have real tourneys, a huge endgame wvw community. PvE just need to pick something. You can survive cof1 without utility at all, but you cannot survive pvp without them.

The problem is that skills are universal. They are not just for pve. Thus, making it hard to discuss on only pve, or in this case, dungeons.
But even in PvE, it’s still too situational.

What I want to see for every skill in PvE, that it is situational like wall of reflection.
It is the perfect example. You could use it in every dungeon, but also not use it if enemy’s aren’t using projectiles.

The skill I mentioned are too rare used. You explained them to me, and it makes sense on how you use it. BUT it is too limited. They hardly have their uses, over shouts, outside that area.

I still stick to my main point: […] diversity for the class

Kirnale.5914

The problem is not if guard is good or bad for the meta. It’s the diversity for the class. Most guards are limited to shouts to stay in the meta. Utility should be situational, yes. But never so limited that it is next to useless. That’s why people suggest it needs a rework.

People want to use other skills than shouts. Spirit weapons for tpvp sounds nice if they only doesn’t die so fast. Hallowed ground is never used in pvp situations, because it requires you to stand in the aoe. The high CD makes it even worse.

An utility skill should provide some uses in every game mode. And they should be all on the same level of balance. It’s not, hey lets make some strong main utility skills for each class and some super rare used skill for a super rare situation. It’s just wrong.

And yes, each class have this philosophy.

These skills need some buff. You can’t say they are on par with the shouts in term of the amount of situation they are used. That thing is a fact. Doesn’t change whatever other classes have or not have. It still need a rework. Undeniable, really.

It is NOT some rediculous buff as you take it. It is a needed buff to become less situational.

Thanks for explaining.

But as for spirit weapon sword, isn’t it better to slot power signet for it’s passiv for more dps ?

About the Merciful Intervention, I think I never used it there, because I just run with invulnerable and often arrive faster than my party members.

So you use merciful intervention in high level fractals ? Over shouts and reflect ? I didn’t play high level fracs, but I don’t see how you use this one.
Signet of Mercy… don’t tell me you use this. In all game modes pve, wvw and tpvp it’s useless.
Spirit weapons, the only useful one is the shield. For everything else, there is better options. For condi clear you have shouts traited or virtue.
Hallowed Ground… over Stand your ground ? Never gonna happen. Not in pvp, wvw or pve.

Please explain the exact the uses of these skills.

Weapons:
Sword:
- Skill 2: Feels like it doesn’t connect well with skill 3. Needs to be a bit faster
- Skill 3: No root, moving with the same speed as whirling wrath
Hammer:
- Skill 1: Last hit speed increase
- Skill 2: No jump animation, feels clunky. Rather an animation that takes the same amount of time while moving normally.
- Skill 5: Movement speed 10% while using this. So even if you are 90% slower, it doesn’t cancel the skill when you want to move a bit.
GS:
- Skill 3: Jump animation is still awful, feels a bit clunky
Mace:
- Skill 1: Last hit need a bit more speed
Scepter:
- Skill 1: Increase orb velocity to the same as bow as dragonhunter

Utility:
- Merciful Intervention: Either make it have less CD or make it so that it doesn’t need a friendly target to teleport
- Hallowed Ground: CD needs to be less, around 60s, 80s is too high
- Retreat: CD should be little bit less
- All signets: Have the passiv ability even after using the signet. As things stands now, signets are almost never used(active), because the passiv effect is better.
- Signet of Mercy: Need a huge CD reduce, to 60s or even less. Not only does it provide the useless healing power passiv, but the revival takes a huge amount of time to cast. In most cases, your friends will die during that cast time. Or you will get CCed hard.
- All Spirit weapons: Increase in life, make them immun to CC(not sure about this one)

Guardian in general:
- More basic health. About the same as Engineer, Ranger, Mesmer. Guardian is a frontliner in wvw, but the needs to grab a lot of survival equipment to withstand the whole aoes and dmg during a zerk fight. Not sure about tpvp, maybe seperate them if needed. I feel this is also needed for raids later, because anet claims that one cannot dodge everything.

in Guardian

From PvE perspective:
Guards>Rev
Cause guards can multitask, rev not.
I tested rev in the beta, and I almost never switch to buffing “mode”, because our meta is still dmg dmg dmg so shiro mode was up all the time. There is enough other class to provide might and fury, so I didn’t bother switching, it was more a waste of time.
Protection and reg are not always needed.
All I did was, activate dat quickness, and press 1111111111 till everything drops lol.
Damage was high though, but it is more constant high dmg than burst damage with guards.

Or all movement skills like Leap of faith, rush, swoop etc. have no autotarget. While autotarget is nice, especially in wvw, using a movement skill right into the zerg might not be the best thing. I like autotarget on ranger, but they need to remove movement skills from it.

I still think stealth itself as buff is a too powerful tool.

The issue thiefes have is anything other than stealth. Nerfing stealth is ok as long as you give them something in return. The stealth is balanced by taking thief as primary target, but they forgot that mesmers can use them too. Thus, becoming a strong buff for ranged fighters. Trying to defeat a condi mesmer with that many teleports and stealth is next to impossible.

As things stands now, thiefs have only stealth and movement skills as defense. A way to fix it is to give them something like else like endure pain, more life, and more reliable out-of-stealth skills and in return put reveal to all classes. This class is too depended on stealth. A class, no matter what his specialization is, shouldn’t be relying only on one buff. That is the real problem here.

Arenanet can’t fix stealth, because thief will lose their everything. But if they don’t fix it, then it will be abused by mesmers.

That is why I think the class thief needs a complete rework. Making them less reliance on stealth will definitely fix the issue. After that, stealth can be fixed.

1. You know, in order to apply the debuff revealed, you need a target. Means you cannot reveal him once he is gone.
2. I am not talking about thief, I am talking about stealth in general. You should learn to read.
3. Ever thought that a mesmer can fullheal while stealth ? Also you can reset combats to heal urself
4. Calling me ignorant while you completely ignored my post. Nice !
5. Try to play ranger and you know you can’t reveal him when he is gone.

Guys, this is not about how to fight a mesmer or a thief.
This is about how to counter stealth itself.

You say it’s a l2p issue, then tell me how you can remove his stealth pls ? Once stealth is active, there is no way to counter it. All you can do is sit and wait for him to come and guess when he is coming or guess his path. Balance is there, when the positiv aspects = negativ aspects. Stealth is almost about 100% positiv.

Stealth:
+ You are 100% invisible, even if you are standing right in front of your enemy
+ Your movement speed is the same as being visible = High mobility
+ Your stealth cannot be removed once activted
+ You can heal and cleanse while in stealth
+ You can reset combats
+ You can wait until some CDs are ready
+ You can always have the first strike, which is a huge advantage
+ You can dodge while in stealth
+ You can use movement skills, as well as teleports
+ Some classes have a long stealth uptime
+ You can revive and be revived while being invisible
- Few classes have “Revealed” debuff
- Channel skills follows you for a short amount of time

Total: Positive:11, Negativ: 2

Compare it to WoW: (Which I wanted to avoid, but still needed since they are balanced there)
+ You can be healed and cleansed while in stealth
+ You can reset combats depending on your CD on stealth(vanish)
+ You can wait until some CDs are ready
+ You can always have the first strike, if you are careful
+ You can use teleports
+ Stealth is infinite long
- Few classes have Revealed skills(Hunter, or aoe in general)
- Your stealth is removed when hit
- You are not 100% invisible
- Your movement speed is limited
- Your stealth can be removed when hit
- Stealth is removed when conditions/dots are doing damage and you don’t have a shield

Total: Positiv: 6 , Negativ: 6

Ofc I am not asking to take the stealth from WoW to gw2. This is all about how two different games handle their balances.

Gw2 gives stealth all the freedom possible.

If you think it is an l2p issue, then bring some facts to the table and tell me ways to counter stealth. I am waiting. The only thing I’ve read, whenever such a thread is created, is that players claims it is an l2p issue which is clearly not. It is the same as burning, the damage is over the top, but you can at least cleanse it(as counter).

Kirnale.5914

1. Aoe’s are not reliable enough against stealth. Not everyone can perma spam aoe skills. Mesmer and thief’s can stay in stealth a really really long time.
2. Traps are also not good, they can simply dodge into it. Also, they are still invisible even if they receive damage from it.
3. Howl is too slow
4. Channel skills will follow them, but that’s it. They can still dodge while in stealth, or outrun you. Also, don’t expect to kill them with this. They can also heal while in stealth.

The only way to truly counter them is “Revealed”. This debuff should be available to any class.

Traps:
Don’t make it throwable, that would make the name trap totally pointless.
Instead, there are some ways around it:
- Once activated, it does continous damage, not only once
- Make the effect stronger: Higher damage, shorter CD, better support

Or replace them with movement skills, because guardians are lacking these skills. Teleportation might be good, but it always needs a target. So if you want to get away from a zerk, you can’t, because you need a target in front of you.
It will also makes more sense, since Dragon hunters are supposed to be mobile characters, how else can they dodge a “dragon’s” charge ?

- Ele have the best heal(water combo also counts)
- Ele have a really high mobility
- Ele have an insane might stack combo
- Ele have already insane burning, on the same level as an engineer
- Ele have the highest dmg as zerker
- Ele have the best combo field available
- They have access to various support stuff, like ice bow, reflection, etc.
- Good amount of condi removal

The reason you see more warrior is, they are easier to play. But weaker than ele in general. True speedrunners use more eles than warriors.

Also, calling the most op class in all areas(wvw, pvp, pve) weaker than a warrior tells us what kind of player you are. Try harder next time.

2. The ability to recruit mercenary to help out
3. Form a player-based raid grp
4. Get some siege running(similar to wvw, with supple camps etc.)
5. Asking other races to help out(For example: Who should we sent logan to ask for help? Choice: asura, norn etc…., → Logan is back in 30 mins…..)
6. Once all preperations are done, all players on the map have a choice to collect more recruits(Tier 2) or start the assault. Similar to dungeons where you can choose a path.
7. Rewards should be good enough.
8. No night invasions.
9. Maybe set the time for twice a day.

About the limitations of free players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kirnale.5914

Kirnale.5914

First of all I would like to say the the Free-to-play that anet offers is to test out the game. They make every game aspect available, so ftp players have all the gameplay gw2 offers.

1. trading post is different than WvW, PvP and exploring, an army of newbies could destroy the economics, especially if there are botters under them.

2. “Pay to win”: Please don’t use this if you don’t know the meaning behind it. I already mentioned in a different thread that, if you don’t own the game(core+xpac), it is not pay to win. Pay to win is that a single player can beat an army alone with no skill, autoatk. He pays to win the game. Gw2 will never be like that. Trading post has absolutely nothing to do with pay to win.

3. How are they limited ? A ftp account can still get all skins currently available to get. They just have to get it on their own.

4. Map chat: Image a bunch of ftp lvl 80 accounts to be hacked. You will see a lot of map chat spam for gold sell. It is very annoying to have these around. Also, to receive help, strategies and other stuff, whisper is more than enough.

5. “soccer/basketball/football where no one ever passes them the ball”: You know, they still can use local chats. So if you go to dungeon, you can chat normally with ur mates.

6. " Buying HoT should be a line the player decides to cross when they feel theyre ready for it. They shouldnt have to buy it just to unlock all of the base game.":
Just buy the core only. Or buy HoT to get both at once. Also, a free to play player has access to all gameplays, so it is more than enough to make them ready for new content.

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Kirnale.5914

Kirnale.5914

It’s true, and it’s known since launch.

Usually, I never DC in any game, but gw2 is different.
Normally, if you DC because of your internet, you get kicked out completely to desktop. But gw2 has it’s own problems and kicks random people out. If that happens you land in character screen with a message, not in desktop.
It happens often when:
- there are a lot of players near you
- the map is full
- a lot of players using skills, killing mobs etc.

Otherwise it almost never DC me, I could stand in LA a whole day and nothing happens. But once you go to teq or tri wurm, you feel a bit of lag, even though your internet is superb and have a good ping(mine is around 10 ping). When the lags gets stronger, you know DC is coming to get you.

2. LFG says: p1 : If you get kicked here then it’s their fault for not mentioning what they expect from others. The only exception would be, you won’t listen what others tell you. Then it’s your fault again. Or go afk/DC forever.

Also, as newbie, you have the responsibility to tell veteran players that this is your first time. Or that you didn’t do it for a long time and forgotten all about the tactics.
People will feel that you are a bad player if you don’t make it clear, and it might lead to some kicking.

What I hate most are people who kick because of AP. They see 1k ap, then instant kick, without seeing how good the player actually is, or if they have exp or not.

Is HoT pay to win?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Kirnale.5914

Kirnale.5914

For me personally, when you buy a game, you are at 100% of the product.
100% of the game means vanilla + all expansions. Anything that goes over the 100% bar, like buying OP weapons, stats, and other unfair stuff from gemshop which can be only bought by using real money is pay to win.

The best example is a browsergame called wartune. A single pay to win player can kill whole guilds alone, without the need of skill, even the autoatk will suffice.

Pay to win means, you don’t need SKILL to win. You pay-to-win matches, tourneys etc.
without troubles, like it already says in the naming sense.

In gw2, no matter how much you pay, be it for expansion, gemshop etc., it won’t make you win over better players. More skilled players will always outplay you, even if you throw 1k € at them. That’s why it is NOT pay to win, no matter how you turn it around.

And about vertical progression, I think that having a vertical progression is more pay to win than not having one. Or do you think that a level 70 player can beat a level 100 player ? I’d rather fight against someone who has more variation in builds, than someone who is 30 levels above me.

In your sense of logic, it is NOT pay to win if your level 100 and the other players are level 70. But it is a pay to win if all are level 70 and one side having more variation in build ? So your 100% product is: All on the same level. Expansion = 120% = Pay to win ?

Excuse me if there are some misunderstanding, but I don’t really get it.

while parallel activating Virtue of Justice, “Save yourselves” and Shield of Wrath.
- Aegis is still one of our strengths, which can be used to block fatal attacks or support a group member if he has trouble to survive
- Wall of reflection
- Quickness+Fury to whole group every 30s(untraited)
- much better sync between the traits/skills
- more anti conditions
etc etc.

Kirnale.5914

Hey guys!

I want to suggest a map for future map expand updates after seeing the day/night cycle in the beta.

Anyone remember the starcraft 2 mission with the day/night mission ?
It was the most fun to play map and I wish it would be similar to that.

When it’s daytime you have to attack their base and when it’s nighttime you have to defend your base. Once all bases have been destroyed, a boss will appear. The more base there are, the more merciless their attacks during nighttime. A fallen base will expand the enemy’s number of bases. After defeating the boss, there will be a resting time until they are back, similar to Silverwaste. When that happens, people can go out and discover stuff that cannot be discovered before.
After finishing it once, the difficult level will go up by one, with max level 5, raising the loot and reward for the completion. By doing so, non-organized players will be able to do it, and organized players will have a great challenge to play with. Failure will result in a loss of map level and people can’t go for a discovery trip, like if they would have won.

And also, in the new map, when night is reached, shouldn’t it be… a lot darker ? At least I feel that it have to be darker. Just my 2 cents.
