Making the gate thick enough could be a cheap solution. The artists might have it difficult to make it look good – I don’t know.
Couple that with any player caught inside the gate (or wall for that matter) due repairing is relocated to friendly side of the gate.
Whats the radius of catapult hit anyway? Is there any larger area of effect?
Currently the team which starts to gain grounds has it easier and easier to conquer the rest. This is due orb/world bonuses and that winning team’s nodes accumulate supplies and upgrades.
Another contributing factor is the underdog teams get discouraged to defend against superior numbers. The underdogs easily fragment and resort to hit and run tactics losing all major nodes and whatever upgrades there were. This makes buying any upgrades unattractive.
Let’s make defending nodes the easier the fewer your team has them.
The difficulty could be achieved by helping the underdog team’s defences:
The advantages would be gradually lost as the underdog team regains ground.
RoS and FoW servers have fallen victim of the free transfers. Each week players transfer to the 3rd lowest server to experience satisfaction of massive overpower against these two servers. That has lead to people no longer playing on RoS and FoW and WvW guilds transferring out for more balanced match ups.
