This won’t hurt [Much]
Ring of Fire
I don’t think the Baruch Bay nightcappers would be happy if they were forced to choose: EotM only or transfer to international servers.
If this item allows dungeon/raid groups not to include the mandatory portal guy, all the better for the mesmer profession.

Not sure if this is a thief bug, culling, or intended, either way it’s pretty ridiculous.
Wow, that is ridiculous. Downed by an enemy that was invisible the entire time. So broken.
That is working as intended. There is another thread discussing about that thief build.

Bug Fix:
- Fixed an issue in which the nameplates of players would move erratically when character models were culled.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-June-14-2016/6212427
Hurray!
The basic problem is that there is an item (flax fiber) needed for a basic WvW component (tactics & improvements), without WvW offering an adequate source to gain that item.
This.
WvW has to be self-sustained. Otherwise Flax Fibers are nothing but a gold transfer from WvW to PvE.
Wait, do people actually care about how many points the server gets for their kills? I thought it was all about loot bags.
Give players a reason to care about the score and then they’ll think about PPK, but for now the difference between 2 nothings and 3 nothings is still nothing.Sad but true.
It is a real pity warscore breakdown is nowhere to be found. Server rankings, leaderboards for players and guilds, and on-screen floating texts when you gain/lose points are also missing. Still after 4 years into the game!
With those in place WvW players could have a chance to understand how the matchup evolves and what their contribution is.
Leaderboards for players and guilds? How would that work exactly? How would you measure player contribution? Is that scout that just saved SM worth less than the spam merchant press 1 for loot in the middle of the blob?
For starters the leaderboards could be a counter for warscore gained by finishers during the matchup. Thats enough to get players interested.
Scout contribution is too diverse to compute.
I would like to see PPK changed to points-per-finisher. That would force a choice between a safe kill vs a risky stomp with points on top.
I would also like to see Borderlands Bloodlust increased to upto 3 points. Currently the Bloodlust is largely ignored on enemy borderlands.
I don’t get it. Why do you care? Does it matter if you’re killed by a stomp or by regular damage?
I use whatever seems to be the fastest way to finish my opponent. If I’m up against a bunker, I’m likely to stomp him. If I’ve downed a thief or a necro, I’m likely to use regular damage, since it’s fast and they can cancel your stomp with fear or teleportation. Why should it matter?
It is about risk and reward. Spamming AoE skills from range should give less reward than jumping into the thick of things, dodging red circles, popping defensive cooldowns, casting a 3.5 seconds finisher and still returning back to your commander safely.

Maybe or they could just show actual character names like a regular PvP game.
Generic anonymous names :
- Do not prevent salt whispers (we can see names in sPvP, the Esport mode of all things)
- Do not prevent players from being focused or otherwise hunted
- Stifle community building (enemy players are fellow gamers too)
There has to be a way to distinguish the 2 enemy servers. Character name alone would not do that.
Putting together server name, guild tag and character name would lead to some terribly long nameplates.
And stop making friends with the enemies. Red is dead.
According to your mini-map your blue commander is not on front of you but close to the Klovan gate. Other friendly players seem to be visible just where they are supposed to be.
I bet your commander is disconnecting or lagging badly there.
We already had few cases where defenders were told not to defend a keep/tower because the odds were too stacked against us. I just hope this does not become commonplace. That there is still a place for those few heroes trying to delay the enemies in lord room so that our cavalry gets to the fight.
……
so “Points per Finisher”?
Why? Other than to highlight the fact you run a class that can “Stealth Stomp”
QFT
Stealth does not give you 100% success on finishers. Try it sometimes.
Casting a 3.5 second finisher in ZvZ with or without Stealth is risky business. Even with my tanky build I can’t stand still in red circles that long.
In small scale fights I can best secure a finisher by Stability combined with an interrupt.
Stealth is good if I also need to avoid single target damage during the finisher. But then I’m really burning through cooldowns.
WvW rank is a joke due EotM. The badge would have no value if it was based on WvW rank.
The enemy name plate only needs server + guild. For example instead of Ring of Fire Mithril Assaulter [Much], my name could only show up as RoF [Much].
this is pretty bad because commanders and such will need to know the rank of a player so they can call them out. exp.
“their comm is a diamond assualter”
I cannot really agree with that argument.
There was another discussion of commander sniping on these forums. The forum search is still broken so I cannot find and link it, sorry. WvW rank is only one of many ways to identify the commander.
If you are in the same squad or party you could simply put a target on the enemy commander. With privileges you can also put a markers on it.
However if you are not in squad you are indeed limited to calling out the rank or appearance of the enemy. Both of which are not very reliable.

- Increased points per player kill (PPK) in WvW from 1 point to 2 points per kill.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-June-14-2016/first#post6202513
Now there are 2 points per kill. Your team also can get 1 point per stomp from the Borderlands Bloodlust.
How many ZvZ fights will opt for stomping over “put damage on the downed”? How many AC huggers will jump down from the wall to finish off their target? Yeah, not a single one.
Thanks to the Quickness not affecting stomps and the HoT power creep even the roamers choose to spam 1 on the downed.

Excellent change! Thank you.
Neither is mastery, nor legendary skins, nor AP. Not even WvW rank.
Especially not the WvW rank because of EotM. It’s like gaining sPvP rank points by attacking golems in the Heart of the Mists.
The value of supply camp is in the dolyak deliveries. PPT pales in comparison.
Search engine found a tool which allows you to save combat log to a file: gw2specs. I haven’t tried it myself; it seemed too much effort for the effect to use.
The combat log is pretty useless in its current form. You can try to eyeball it for big numbers for bragging or to see who attacked you recently or whether your trebuchet shot actually hit the wall. The log does not allow your to recreate the fight for a proper analysis.
Saving the log to a file as it is today doesn’t help you. The log needs many improvements:
I’m sure someone has suggested this before but the search is still broken on these forums.
I have no preference for a new usable weapon type or even if there is a need for one.
If there is a new trait line, let it be loaded with traits to make mesmer viable melee damage dealer in large scale WvW combat.
A damage dealer without AI controlled easily killed illusions:
Specter
Obsidian Sanctum offered too good competition for the disappointing guild halls arenas.
The condi and power are already balanced but not the way you are assuming.
Consider this: 10000 damage in a single burst is lot more valuable than 10000 damage over long period of time.
Making conditions crit would remove one of the differences between the two making the game less varied.
You could argue that condition damage is underpowered in large fights in WvW. Allowing conditions to crit would not solve that. Condition damage is weak due the multi-target cleanses.
Claim the objective when you capture it. Your guild has 10 seconds to claim it before anyone else has the chance. Once claimed the objective stays that way until you allow the enemies capture it or until you intentionally give up your claim.
NPC guild tags – Claimed objectives already display guild banners. The NPCs are not your guild members.
Maybe not your guild, but we value those NPCs as part of our guild. They even help us on guild missions. Try talking to them, maybe you’ll like them.
But I am a mesmer; I already have enough imaginary friends.
As for driver targetting by rank, X T D already pointed out there are plenty of other ways to spot the driver.
I’d prefer short name plates revealing minimal information only. The main reason is to reduce display clutter.
I would not mind if the rank name was removed from name plates. High rank is nothing to be proud of thanks to EotM k-trains. Low rank just invites for free kills. And know-it-alls get vocal on your right to operate siege if you are low rank.
There are also other details that have no place in name plates in WvW:
In order to avoid exploiting there should be a week long time delay.
Commanders could replay any last matchup’s moment from birds eye view and fine tune their tactics. Or talk more fact based crap on the WvW community forums. :P
The GW2 server already records tons of metrics. I doubt even those are not detailed enough to recreate any moment in the history of the game. This feature would require a lot of development.
Would players really be interested to see old matchups? I for one couldn’t care less, I just enjoy playing.
The amount of loot spam is doubled. There is lot more micro management in form of opening reward boxes that contain PvE boxes that contain crap items that end up being processed the usual way. 30 minutes of agony using the Trading Post UI with jolly red “You have placed too many sell orders too quickly” messages.
Any hope of fixing the loot tables to contain meaningful items only and lacking those just plain gold?
Aww, the dictatorship of the many…
None of these choices really appeal to me.
Adjust scoring to be relative to current activity and population (Large)
Lot of work over something that has high of chance going horribly wrong, benefits being controversial… just steer away from this option.Change WvW Tick timer to 5 Minutes (Small)
This only fixes the tiny issue where capturing an objective just before tick grants few extra points. I assume the objective PPT would be lowered to match the timer, so that for example towers yield 3 and 1/3 points per tick – messy.Provide features that increase a team’s ability to recover from large point disparities (Medium)
This could dilute the currently very active weekend period after the reset.Implement scoring for objective capture (Small)
No. This has been thoroughly tested in EotM and the results are clear: no defending, avoid fights, blob up and k-train.Modify objective scoring to be relative to upgrade level (Medium)
Since most of the passive points are from dolyaks, only changing the objective PPT amounts to very little effect. If on the other hand the PPT from T3 objectives is set very high, for example PPT^Tier:
- non-upgrade objectives would be ignored
- servers would stack up forces on T3 objectives only
- waypointing monoblob between maps to flash capture T3 objectives would become preferred strategy
Rebalance scoring for actions that are not included in Points-Per-Tick (Small)
This probably means increasing points from player kills, sentry kills and dolyak kills. Increasing PPK by large amount can lead to situation where players avoid any fighting when the odds do not greatly favor them. When objectives are no longer the main source of points, why would any commander choose to go near siege fire?No preference
Could this be reworded as Do not implement any of the above?Edit: My vote went to the 5-min timer as it seems to do the least harm.
This is a real problem. You have had to make loads of assumptions here, some of which we know are wrong. For example, ANet have already said in another post that ppk is included in option 1. Not your fault, as we are all in the dark.
I really think that, if this poll is to be any use, it needs to be removed, reworded and reposted!
Yes, it was not easy to connect the voting items to items discussed in that other thread.
Tyler elaborated on 2 items:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Let-s-Talk-Scoring/page/11#post6152807
Adjust scoring to be relative to current activity and population (Large)
This actually means Skirmishes – 2 hour time slices that grant Victory Points.
This is not so bad in itself. It will prevent empty maps ticking points for the nightcappers to some extent. The nightcapping team will still hold majority of objectives which are not reset so they are likely to win the following Skirmishes, too. I’m not all that sure this is worth the (Large) effort and more complex points system.
However ANet also intends to reward both the winner and the second server for each Skirmish. This means the blue server will focus on red instead of trying to win which ruins the 3-way battle. This is no different from current system where you take points where you most easily get them instead of fighting off your closest competition.
Rebalance scoring for actions that are not included in Points-Per-Tick (Small)
This means increasing PPK to 3, or even to 5, and increasing sentry kill and dolyak kill and delivery rewards.
Anet intends to implement 5 minute immunity which opens possibility to exploit the system.
5 PPK is not that terrible, but there is also plans to reduce objective PPT. This can lead to situation where commanders avoid fighting anywhere near enemy towers; defenders run away from keep as soon as gates fall to avoid dying at a desperate lord fight.

Whenever you use a teleport skill there is a chance you get stuck, permanently unable to move nor dodge. You can still jump in place. Some others have reported that downed state/immobilize/building siege/knockback could also trigger this bug. It doesn’t happen very often though.
Workarounds to free yourself once you get stuck:
This bug has been in the game since the beginning. It’s been reported several times by many players. I guess the devs have thrown in the towel on this one.
Yes it is still effective. With the buffs to stealth, etc. mesmers can still hide and are hard to kill.
What buffs to stealth? I’ve been on and off recently so I don’t know everything.
- Prismatic Understanding: Fixed a bug that prevented this trait from functioning while downed. Reduced the stealth duration increase from 100% to 50%.
Now mesmers can let guards take them into downed state and use Deception for total of 3 seconds of stealth. For some reason the lastest balance patch didn’t fix this issue. :P
Condi clears are not intuitive in that they clear 2 stacks of vuln and your 1 stack of poison rather than those 8 stacks of torment and those 12 stacks of confusion. On top of this application happens far more often than you have clears.
Conditions are cleared in specific order: the last applied condition gets cleared first.
Condi players take advantage of this and try to apply cover conditions on top of the more important ones.
The best defense against condi players is the same as against the power players: don’t eat their bomb. Cleanses or healing are not supposed to negate all those attacks you failed to avoid.
Hide players’ health bars and let them know only after the forced revive they’ve been ghosts for the last 5 mins. :P
[Idea] : Track PPK separately from PPT
I think it would be cool to have multiple scoring mechanics tracked separately, so that players with different goals can feel like they are contributing to whatever system they want.
PPT (or points per capture/defense/dolyak/whatever it ends up being) would be the world score.
PPK would be tracked separately per player and per guild, and not added to the world score.
At the end of the match, there would be a winning world, but there might be guilds and players in the 2nd and 3rd place worlds that did better in PPK.
I, too, want to see a proper breakdown of the Warscore and leaderboards for players and guilds. The current WvW is panel is pretty much waste of screen estate.
But this is display only thing with no direct effect on the winner of the matchup. There might be indirect effects when players/guilds focus on the leaderboards.
UI
- Many of these new systems and changes will also necessitate updates to the UI, to display all this new information.
This point probably includes some of those. Somehow UI seems to be the most neglected part of development and only comes as an afterthought.
- Warscore is used to determine the winner of a Skirmish
- Skirmishes award varying amounts of Victory Points based on placement
I assume that “based on placement” refers refers to server’s Glicko ratings.
I’m glad to hear there is only 1 winner of each Skirmish. Every server will fight for the win instead of double teaming on the weakest server to secure the easiest PPT. I would expect the 2 top servers to go after each other instead.
OTOH the increase in PPK will probably steer the top servers to pick on the smallest team for safe points.
Or will there be Victory Points for servers not winning the Skirmish? Then we’d be in no better place than today.
It’s based on your standing in skirmish points.
For example, first place gets 3 points, second place gets 1 point, third place gets none.
Or 6-3-1, 5-2-0, 4-2-1 or how ever else they ultimately decide to split it.That sounds bad. Then the second server will focus on the weakest the moment they realize they won’t win a Skirmish. This kind of scoring system ruins the 3-way battle.
Well, if the second place doesn’t receive any points, what incentive is there for the weakest to stay in at all? It’s not like they will be able to knock out both servers, who have more points than them.
Red and blue will double team on the green server. Red server just needs to steal some warscore from the blue server in the process – which is possible since green and blue focus on each other. This will auto-balance matchups.

The titles were removed from nameplates to reduce visual clutter in WvW. I could not the patch notes, but that’s how I remember it.
You can only see your party members’ titles. You cannot see your own title when holding Alt key down.
Unfortunately the October 23, 2015 patch introduced sPvP nameplate badges which now pollute WvW nameplates, too. So the visual clutter is back.
I don’t like the idea that dolyaks do any more than they already do. Especially capturing objectives on their own.
People overlooking the importance of supply camps just haven’t done or care for the math.
Losing a supply camp on your home borderland is a big cut in PPT. Camp itself is only 5, but the dolyaks now standing the camp deny you another 30 points.
The Alpine borderland is about the same size as the Desert borderland.
The Alpine towers are closer to center and there are large areas wasted in the south and in the northern corners of the map. Also the citadel takes up lot of space in the Alpine map.
Very annoying and long lived bug indeed. It has been in the game from the very beginning.
Teleport skills in general seem to trigger this bug. You teleport and then notice you are unable to move.
There are few tricks you can use to free yourself (1st being the least effective):
If GW2 allowed macros I’d add an emote to every teleport skill.
Does this ever occur in sPvP? If not, could the same fix be applied to WvW maps?
“If names be not correct, language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If language be not in accordance with the truth of things, affairs cannot be carried on to success."
“When affairs cannot be carried on to success, proprieties and music do not flourish. When proprieties and music do not flourish, punishments will not be properly awarded. When punishments are not properly awarded, the people do not know how to move hand or foot."
- Confucius
In general this is the least exciting change for WvW in this patch.
The Mist War button is overlapping the Zoom In button in the mini map. Good that is doesn’t take up much screen estate unless I hover mouse over it.
Flashing tooltips and large popup in middle for the screen every 15 mins… why not just quietly put the crap into inventory? This loot is not interesting.
1.How do you feel overall about reward tracks?
2.What are your thoughts on the rate at which you gain participation?
3.How do you feel about the rate you earn reward track points?
4.Overall, what are your impressions about the types of reward tracks we have?
5.Are there any other reward tracks you would really like to see?
Rather change reflected projectiles to reveal the original attacker instead.
Did they also fix the bug with golems scaling with player stats/objective auras?
I liked how things were in Alpine borderland: you could use towers to attack nearby keep.
Even if you couldn’t place a trebuchet inside a tower it would be nice if the tower provided support for defending/attacking a side of a keep. For example mortar reaching keep’s gate or proxy catapult locations. For example cannon cover for long range siege attacking keep. Or if the towers provided resupplies closer than supply camps.
The northern DBL towers block supply routes from NW and NE camps to the earth keep today. That’s a lot of points when you hold the towers.
The new WvW Provisioner sells consumables for badges. I thought this is brilliant; no more feeding them PvE farmers by buying stuff at Trading Post. Unfortunately the consumables at WvW Provisioner are only level 70.
Why not level 80 that WvW players would actually use?
Making them 80 would have been over the top. 70 is a nice balance since you still want to reward people that take the time to craft the items themselves but you can also allow a WvWer to get a pretty good item without ever crafting.
I don’t see how level 80 food is over the top. WvW vendors sell superior siege and exotic gear of level 80, too. Even ascended trinkets.
I don’t craft. I don’t like it and I wouldn’t be getting the materials for it from WvW either.
To play WvW I would have to stop playing WvW and go farm PvE every now and then? No thanks.
Crafting is nothing but a gold transfer from WvW players to PvE players.
I would appreciate crafting more if it had some function in WvW. Like providing boosts, weapons, siege, upgrades for your entire team in WvW. While having the team war efforts to unlock materials for the crafting.
Again crafting food for profit is not a thing. You waste your time if you craft food for profit and you should be thankful that some people are wasting their time to craft food for you.
The profit for crafting the typical food is usually around 2s each and you cannot craft many at the same time without crashing the price.Example: https://www.gw2bltc.com/en/item/12481-Bowl-of-Lemongrass-Poultry-Soup
As you can see there is only 2k of these sold per day in total. A grand total of 40g profit per day spread across the whole playerbase lol
So the crafters do not even have a valid argument against WvW players buying consumables with BoHs/PoHs. Thanks for clearing that up.

The very basic design theme of a Desert makes them uninviting. Life flocks to and flourishes in the blue and green zones of a planet. If Anet wants WvW to flourish, it needs to use themes that support it.
I don’t see anyone in the Oasis these days. :P
