That would be too passive. Even today you see keeps claimed by guilds which hardly take any other part in WvW.

I’d rather have guild members rewarded for taking part in defensive activities near their claimed keep. Like buying upgrades, repairing, killing enemies, attacking enemy siege, escorting dolyaks in, scouting…

Idea for WvW Balancing Finisher move

I enjoy the gameplay around finishers. When the fight is bigger than 1v1 the choices become non-trivial. Pulling off a finisher in ZvZ or in keep siege is true art.

For example as mesmer I can swap to Staff, start a finisher, use Phase Retreat to teleport out of range of downed interrupts and then Blink back in just when the finisher completes. If the downed enemy is being revived too fast, I may have to Blink in early and also use Diversion to interrupt the revivers. But then I have used 2 valuable cooldowns to secure the finisher. The rest of the enemies know exactly where I am meaning I will need more cooldowns very soon.

You proposal is more valid for sPvP where the fights are tiny and simple. But even in sPvP if you get downed you are a burden to your team. No matter if you can delay the finisher for that extra few seconds.

There are many bugs in the Golem Rush event. One of the bugs allows players sometimes to carry too many supplies after building a golem.

I have 54 now.

As we all know the supplies a player has at reset is carrier over to the next matchup.

Will the player carried supplies set to a correct amount at the next reset?

If they really wanted to promote wvw to pve players then they should have done it like they have 3 times in the past, the wvw tournament. Not some broken buggy event that paints a bad picture of real wvw, while also kittening off most of the real wvw players into not playing for the week.

Even putting the wvw buff up for a week every 4 weeks would work for quick promotions, just like the spvp buff that goes up for tournaments.

The easiest way would be changing WvW loot tables to offer better reward/effort ratio than dungeons or Silverwastes. As soon as the PvEers pull out their Excel sheets and realize where the loot it, nobody plays dungeons anymore. Nobody.

Ideas for other WvW "special events?"

Cool special events for the other game areas – they should get their share too. All “Golem Rush” gold standard quality.

  • Dungeons – remove all loot except a gray shirt saying “I went to <dungeon name> and all I got was this loysy T-shirt”
  • Outdoor PvE areas – reduce movement speed by 90%
  • Cities – move all NPCs 20 yards up in the air
  • sPvP – players cannot damage enemy players
  • EotM – NPCs are unkillable
  • RP – all players appear as their generic WvW model

Just kidding. Any one of the above would actually destroy the corresponding game area. Spelling this out if the developers fail to see it.

Please. No more special events in WvW.

On low population server is it always nice to see new faces in WvW. Jump in and have fun.

You will discover the WvW dynamics are very different than in high tiers. Individuals and community events have great impact on the score.

Just few things:

  • Limit your participation to 15 members and at prime time only.
  • Make it clear from the start that your guild will be leaving in 1 month.
  • Do not recruit members from the server.
  • Show no disrespect to the guilds or the community on the server.

I would like to see an option for preventing camera angle/position change when going to/from downed state or when using siege in WvW. Same option could also prevent the minimap zook-lock when entering lord rooms or Stonemist upper levels.

The option could be on by default as I bet everyone hates the current behaviour.

When clicking Sell Instantly button on Trading Post’s Sell tab, an error text flashes:
Quantity cannot be set to less than 1
Then the lime green Success dialog opens saying:
Your item has been listed for sale.

The Quantity was set to value greater than 1 and there were plenty of buy orders available. So I would have expected the items to be sold instantly when I clicked Sell Instantly button.

Is this a bug or yet another TP feature that I just don’t understand?

Forget braggers. I want to know how it effected the results of close matches at the end of the week.

Guild wars 2 Score has as good statistics as the current API can offer. With some effort you should be able to derive approximation of the PPK’s effect.

Are you talking about the bragging culture that got match up threads removed from the official forums?

It was some individuals with attitude that got the matchups forums deleted. Their arguments were very subjective and lacking evidence. This spiralled into too heated discussions and mud slinging.

With performance data there would be grounds for more objective discussion.

In all those3 scenarios players got outplayed by other players. Not outplayed by poor game mechanics. All good.

:/ thats like saying if anet multplied damage several hundred times so that 1 hit would kill an opponent meaning the game boiled down to whoever landed the first hit it would be fine because they were being outplayed within those mechanics.

As it is now tag for point the game has boiled down to whoever can hit most targets. 1 single hit gains a point. Which is terribly cheap.

There are servers that have upto 25% of their total score from tagging enemies now.

Oh nah if you mean tagging for points not for loot then don’t worry, a dev stated that even if a blob of 50 tag one guy the server only gains one point in accordance of it being one death.

The scenario where tag-for-point becomes bad:

50 blue invaders fight 50 green invaders. 1 red invader spams AoE on top of the fight. Green zerg prevails and kills all blue invaders. Green server gets 50 points which is fine. But red server also gets 50 points!!!

I like to see the points a world grates with ppk vs ppt. Though over all i think ppt needs to get a bit of a nerf and ppk needs to cover about 50% of the points per week.

The high tier matchups already have almost 50% non-PPT score. Low tier matchups only reach 25%.

PPK was introduced on the 16th of December. Browse back to previous weeks’ records and follow how Gunnar’s Hold’s non-PPT score has evolved. They seem to be getting a lot of points for kills.

I don’t see how #1 would fix that issue—in fact, I think that Change would make it even worst. Now server 3 can wait on the sidelines while server 1 and 2 engages, wait until one side gets low or singled, then immediately push in to take the killing blow, and not only get the ppk point, but also deprive the server that actually deserved the point of it.

I think, in light of the ppk change, bloodlust needs a complete reworking, not just a rebalancing.

Consider a zerg fight where 50 green zerglings spam #1 on a poor red warrior. If a blue ranger tries to steal the point from green server, he only has 1:50 change of delivering a killing blow. In grand scale of things the server which deserves it gets the point.

A dev already stated that you don’t get a point per tag on an enemy, its awarded per death of the enemy so only one point is awarded per death. This among other issues were explained to have already been taken care of.

I remember seeing some answers from Dev somewhere on these forums, but since the search function is broken I cannot find it anymore.

As I recall it, he explained that if red and green invaders together manage to kill blue invader, both red and green server gets a point. Which is tag for a point, not killing blow for a point.

I still don’t trust the special cases being taken care of until players can confirm it. And one has to test these after every patch due lack of source control and regression testing.

The PPK experiment has been well received.

However it needs more development before it should be added to the game.

1. Point for killing blow only

Now your server gets a point if you just tag an enemy. This leads to siege/ranged AoE spam on top of fights between the enemy zergs.

If the point was given for killing blow only, then the only the server which deserves it gets rewarded.

2. Handle special cases

Maybe these are already handled, but I somehow doubt it.

If the enemy dies but not by a killing blow, the server which had the player tagged should gain a point. Or both servers if that is the case.

  • Point for NPC/fall deaths
  • Point for ALT-F4/disconnect
  • Point for unsuccessful Vengeance skill

3. Triple Bloodlust points

Delivering a killing blow is too easy compared to stomping. Especially in larger fights. This needs balancing.

Increasing the bloodlust points would encourage skillful play instead of mindless #1 spam.

4. Display non-PPT points

Make the points for player kills, Bloodlust stomps, sentry kills, dolyak escorts and dolyak kills visible.

At minimum in the WvW details window. For example:

  • Dolyaks escorted 1212
  • Dolyaks killed 372
  • Sentry points captured 281
  • Bloodlust points gained 236
  • Enemies defeated 183
  • Total non-PPT points 2284

Display the points earned in the combat log. With an option of suppress these messages. BTW please make the timestamps in combat log have precision of one tenth of a second. A lot can happen within a minute while player is in combat.

For example:
12:34:56.7 – You have earned 3 server points for killing a dolyak.

A nice addition would be floating combat text for each server point earned. With option to turn it off. Perhaps also flash the WvW icon on top of the screen.

5. Collect data at player/guild level

Collect data when a player and the guild he/she represents gains points for the server.

  • Display the data in-game in hero window and guild window.
  • Make the data available on the Leaderboards and make it easy to access named player’s/guild’s points for each match-up.
  • Provide API for external web sites.

So AoE spammers should hover near enemy spawn exists and try to tag every player moving out. Don’t bother killing, just tag and hide away. Points well deserved.

It would be great if matchups would auto-balance themselves. Thats the essence of 3-way fights. It just been watered down by the ranking system and karma trains going for the least defended nearby keep regardless which opponent holds it.

We already have Bloodlust and it is largely ignored. There is another thread discussing about that.

The point is delivering killing blows is too easy compared to stomping.

The PPK should be adjusted to match the difficulty. Ratio 1:100 for siege on gate, 1:25 for open field ZvZ, 1:5 for smallscale and down to 1:1 for duels.

This is speculation on my part: however if it does stack with bloodlust nothing will change, if not then the buff will probably be changed accordingly.
Killing blow, stomp, or hopefully last hit (deals with vengeance and cliff diving)
I’m not super familiar with mesmer it is a rez isn’kitten In which case they didn’t die, so you get no points.

The mesmer Illusion of Life raises players from downed state for 15 seconds and then puts them back to downed state. It probably won’t affect on PPK.

The guild history page could list the influence gained by WvW effort on daily or weekly basis.

One downside is that holding a structure would be very profitable to the guild which captured it and no profit to any guild defending it later on.

The bloodlust is ignored because the points gained are not shown anywhere.

About 30% of matchup points come from dolyaks, sentries and stomps. These sources deserve more visibility.

Suggestion

The guild(s) which captured bloodlust or sentries/camp/tower/keep are rewarded by influence for every point gained for the server.

For example:
If a guild captures bloodlust, and then there are 100 stomps before the buff is lost, give the guild 100 influence.

If 20 players representing 20 different guilds capture Stonemist, and the castle is held for 10 point tallys and 15 dolyaks reach it, give each guild (10*35+15*3)/20 influence.

List the guilds which contributed to the server’s points on:

  • GW2 Leaderboards
  • Guild/WvW API for external sites
  • In-game monument in the Citadel showing the last matchup’s top 5 guilds

Theres no way to visualise the general ranks of players in your wvw zerg making the ranking system not too useful especially once all rank ability’s are maxed out.

Why do you think it will be usefull to know the rank ?

Rank is completely useless, you can’t tell if player is good or experienced just by knowing his rank, you can make 10+ ranks a day just by playing in Eotm and still be a noob.

I could easly make a nomad armor and trait full defense to run with the zerg in Eotm without using 1 skill and still farm ranks.

Average WvW rank is not mandatory information. If you have a team of low average rank, you want to steer away from enemy guild zergs. Experienced commanders already know what to expect from the people around them.

Aye, the roamers have lower WvW rank than the zerglings. But then again the zerglings have exactly the kind of experience you need in a zerg: pay attention to commands, build only the siege that the commander drops, always carry supplies, stay close to the commander if you are tanky, stay out of red circles if you are squishy…

You do have a point about the EotM gained ranks. EotM should not reward WXP.

  • Button to create event circle on the ground. Visible only to friendly players. Say 600 radius, duration 10 seconds, 1 minute cooldown.

ANet made a huge effort ensuring that even in the biggest fights the name tags are always visible.

If you want to play hide&seek, team up with a thief. Stealth hides your name tag.

personal i dont give a kitten about oponent name about his rank about wte…if anet likes to have names on then why not give to the players the selection to disable that

i dont like when my screen get a r red sea of names…and idk were actual that helps?

The name tags are easier to transmit and render than full or even simplified character models. It was all about addressing a performance issue.

Before the improvement you would not see the enemies in big fights until very late into the fight. You might have been killed before seeing the first enemy. Now you will at least see the names tags.

I do agree the name tags are too long. There has been suggestions to shorten them:

  • Display rank as an icon
  • Display server name as abbreviation

At one time the name tags also included title, but fortunately that was soon removed. Now you only see the titles of your party members and your target.

My proposal:
- a new type of loot container. Only items in this container can be bulk-sold instantly.

I’m going to call it the “Swag Bag”.

The Swag Bag sounds complicated.

There are a lot more useless items than just armor and weapons. For me the ratio of useful vs useless items must be like 1:10000.

Would the Swag Bag bulk sell guard against selling under vendor prices?
(Is it even possible to place a buy order on TP under vendor price?)

Would the Swag Bag have bulk use for Essence of Luck, Liquid World experience and Liquid Karma item stacks?
(Why are these items anyway?)

Would the Swag Bag allow bulk salvage operations?

I’m imagining dozens upon dozens of “Sell all button sold my exotic / precursor / legendary / grandmother” posts on the forums and tickets to support. Doesn’t sound like a good idea.

One of the shortcomings of the new TP UI is that it only displays very few items at a time. There is a lot of scrolling up and down.

There is a risk of selling wrong items when you do a multi-select and have to scroll the selected items off the view.

Or worse: if you do multi-select blindly (click item and then shift-click another item down the list). Especially since the new TP UI is not automatically sorting items in any order.

Some measures against wrong selection would be welcome.

Yes please!

I think the user story goes something like this:

As a player
I want to sell instantly all useless items in my backpack at the Trading Post
so that I free up backpack space on field and get more gold than selling those items at vendor.

The old TP UI required 2 click per item stack to sell instantly. It was no fun to do that. But it was necessary to keep playing my favorite game mode: WvW.

The new TP UI came out untested. And players complained. Rightfully so. It took a lot more effort to sell items: 5 clicks per item stack and ankward navigation between inventory and the sell dialog.

We have seen several bug fixes to the new TP UI. Now the clicks are down to 3 per item stack. The bad navigation is still in place.

And it is not fun. The bright green “you have successfully sold an item” just does not cut it for me. I don’t get exited for selling a crafting component or a low level item for few copper profit.

The OPs suggestion for multi-selecting items and then selling the all instantly would reduce the work significantly. It would still not be fun, of course.

We could go further. The root problem is the loot tables and the gold consumption in WvW. How about fix those and I would never have to visit the TP UI again?

Serious solution…make people with outnumbered buff on them drop nothing and give no WvW experience. Why reward the problem? When you make it not worth it people will find the balance themselves.

That’s a great suggestion for improving the outnumbered buff.

  • Simple
  • Reduces spawn camping/zergs hunting roamers
  • Does not distort the matchup score
  • Does not cause power issues
  • Does not make elitistic guilds trying to drive people off the map just to get the buff

A problem: You can no longer see the Outnumbered buff on your enemies. You would not be able to tell if your target yields loot or WXP.

How about bufs along the line of (some not all of):

  • you tick every 5min (instead of 15)
  • your objectives count double at any tick
  • invulnerable bufs at bosses turned by you is 10min not 5.
  • invulnerability bufs have no effect on you as outmanned attacker
  • you do double damage on NPCs
  • you do double damage on doors & walls
  • you can carry twice as many supplies
  • your dollies run twice as fast
  • your doors and walls have double life
  • your (some/all) siege do double damage
  • stomps by you score double
  • stomps against you do not score
  • every kill you do score
  • dolly kills you do score twice
  • sentries you conquer score twice

Fights aren’t affected by that, but a well organized outmanned force may even win the score race against a dumb blob. The blob should be warned that he produced outmanned buf on opponent XYZ. Guerrilla war face becomes an option.

Outnumbered buff should not affect the score in anyway. That would only distort the matchup outcome and thus the ranking of the servers.

New seige skill behaviour intended?

  • Before: when you activated a siege skill, the skill would fire even if you left the siege immediately.
  • Now: when you activate a seige skill, the skill will be cancelled if you leave the siege before skill fires.

This is most noticeable on skills which have a long cast time, like Mortar #5. Returning to a mortar which had skill #5 cancelled, will have skills 1 through 4 disabled.

This change does have merits, like preventing a single player operating 2 catapults.

There was no mention in the release notes about this.

Is this change intended or a bug?

I’m at 20,956, I used to like the previous title when it was Ultimate Interceptor, but Yakslapper? no thanks, wouldn’t use it even if I had it.

You’ve played the game for 2 years and killed 20000 Dolyaks. To reach 1 million at this rate would take 98 years more.

Keep slapping ’em. Your opinion on the title may change by the year 2112.

Why default sell to highest buyer?

This is very welcome improvement over the sell UI.

I often want to sell (instantly) dozens of stacks of items. Now that Sell Instantly is the default, can can do it with just 4 clicks / item stack instead of 5. This may not seem a lot but managing items is the part of the game I loathe.

BTW the old TP sell UI required 2 clicks / item stack. So I’d rather have all the sell UI changes rolled back.

Still waiting ANet to fix WvW loot tables or gold revenue so that I would not have to micro-manage thousands of items. Or at least a Sell Instantly All Items I Do Not Want button in backpack like vendor windows have a Sell Junk button.

How to sell many items?

During my typical play session in WvW accumulates hundreds of items I don’t want.

For top gold some items are best sold at the Trading Post. In fact selling items on TP is a necessity to continue playing WvW – upgrades, consumables, siege weapons cost gold.

So every few hours I have 50 item stacks in my backpack I want to sell (instantly) on Trading Post.

How do sell those with the new TP interface fast and easy?

The old interface required clicking each item and sell button for total of 100 clicks. Which was too much work and too little fun.

Idea: Friendly units block attacks

Just turn on friendly fire.

Come on, everyone knows it’d be awesome.

And incredibly hilarous.

Also turn on collision detection for increased hilarity.

Friendly fire and movement blocking unit collisions are hilarious for the first 10 minutes, sure. On longer run nobody would have fun.

That’s why I only suggested blocking of attacks. And only by friendly units to prevent some unhealthy escort tactics.
