Lauren did say in the main thread that they are aware of the OOM issues and are looking into it, but no ETA.

Hello, checking in with everyone. I have a few updates to share. There will be more later but I wanted to hit these first:

Rally to Maguuma – Stuck
We know there’s another issue around the mission and are actively tracking this bug. We have had some reports that the following might fix the problem:

  • Zone out of the Silverwastes and back in (to PVP or to Dry Top, etc).
  • Change your active story step in the Journal and then back again.

OOM crashes

  • Please continue to send your crash reports via the in game crash reporter with details about what you were doing and your system specs.
  • The in game reporter is the best way to report crashes as they go directly to the programming team.

Scout Acan

  • This issue is being tracked.
  • We have some reports that Acan only is broken on some megaserver instances.

Story Mission 14 – Sign Cutting

  • Itzel Poison Lore was removed as a requirement.
  • If you are still stuck please zone out to another map, such as PvP or Lion’s Arch, and then come back.

Thank you for the update. Looking forward to the fix for the OOM issue. I’ve seen a fair share here on 64-bit systems, so it’s not just the 32-bit issue.

Just to be clear, I’m not promising fixes – or even fixes on a timeline, even though a great many of the items I comment on on the forums do get fixed decently quick. I make sure our issues are tracked and escalated to the proper people and then I get my board with nails in it out.

A lot of the things I don’t comment on get fixed too but we would need 3 of me to be able to respond to all posts all the time.

ok now brb finding some wood to knock on to avoid the jinx…

I know you’re not promising fixes, but the simple fact that they are aware that it’s not just 32-bit OS Potatoes and it’s happening to some 64-bit systems and they are looking probably makes a lot of us feel better.

It’s complex code, it’s all linked, and I doubt the teams intention was to suddenly lock a lot of low to mid end machines out of the game.

Thanks, just keep us posted if they got anything incoming or we can try specific things in game on our end to help them test.

Still the OOM issue, but a half hour uptime as opposed to 5-10 minutes this time. It’s an improvement.

Still showing that bug with the auto-loot checked yet greyed out when I don’t have the Mastery. Log attached and sent in.

Still getting OOM issues on the same system that ran the game FINE before the XPAC.

See attached.

Was hoping the day to work on would help. Looks like the ‘fix’ is still, “Buy a new machine, peasant!”

ATTN CRASH DEPUTY — Now LA makes me crash too?

If the expansion makes the core game unplayable, do I get a bloody refund?

This is stupid. I could play ANYWHERE without these constant crashes until the XPAC. FIX THIS!

The answer is not telling me to turn down my settings! They are as low as they go! Put culling back or give us a max draw distance option to cut back on memory use! I am not the only person having this problem, and while the majority of us that are have 32-bit OS, some of these OOM reports in this tread (and on reddit) are 64-bit systems with 8 GB or less RAM.

Report attached, again.

The next crash I get is when I go to Customer Service to demand a refund and my review of the XPAC on Amazon will not be favorable. This is insane that new maps break the rest of the game for me.

With the issues of the auto-loot mastery, I noticed this and wondered if it might be linked to the OOM issue for 32-bit machines.

On the character select screen, no auto-loot shows. However, when in game, even though I do not have the mastery, it shows checked yet grayed out, so I can not uncheck it or interact with it. See attached.

Maybe this is why so many OOM crashes on 32-bit machine that used to be able to run this game? Anyone else with OOM crashes seeing this in options?

Quick reply to attach shot of character select screen where I don’t have this bug showing.

After 14 emails with tech support I was told that the OOM crashes that I was having dealt with me having windows 32bit OS, and that if i wanted to fix it I either had to remove some of the RAM in my computer to allow for the overlap in the amount of RAM between my processor and my video card because the 32bit system could not handle this.

I expressed my concerns that nowhere in the Minimum system requirements did it say anything about the differences between 32 or 64 bit OS. I was told that there was a disclaimer at the bottom of the page that these requirements could change at any time.

Now had I known there was going to be an issue with my system not working on the 32bit OS then I would not have paid the $99 for the upgrade. because silly me i thought that my quad core 2.33 processor and my 4gb of ram and my GT540 video card would be enough to handle this game like it has been over the last 2+ years that the game has been out.

I agree. That is why I posted a review to Amazon warning people with 32-bit systems away from the purchase.

Maybe if we hit their wallet, they will actually optimize the engine.

I went to bed last night hoping I’d wake to a fix for our OOM crashes. Instead, no new fixes, but a LOT more posts about OOM.

I guess the real fix is, “Get a new rig, peasant.”

So, I will not be playing any new content, or much at all, for the next two months or more, and ANet will not be getting any extra money for Gems out of me because now that money has to go to a new computer.

ohhh emmm geee some little bird just told me a hotfix is coming asappppppp

ecks

dee

I’ll give it a try again. But I never had these problems with the old card until today.

And…. another OOM crash, at LOWEST SETTINGS. This time leaving VB, but again, the common threads seem to be VB.

If I could turn off OTHER PLAYERS I would.

Sent in and attached.

Above I see more having same OOM problem, with even better hardware.

Just for dice and giggles I’m going to revert to the original integrated ATI Radeon HD3200 card… and post that error report.

Might want to get all these to the Incident Team. And this IS an incident.

It took longer, but as expected, BOOM goes the Brink!

Report attached.

My first crash not in the Brink.

Got tired of waiting on them to fix this, figured, “Hey, I can do the Mad King’s Labyrinth, it worked fine last year.”

NOPE. NO GAME FOR YOU!!!

So, now, the content I did last year, ON THE EXACT SAME HARDWARE, now crashes. This same OOM plague that is affecting so many of us with Lower to Middle systems. Because of this expansion.

Would have been nice to know that it was not kitten to $100 expansion, it was a $700-800 dollar expansion, including the new rig you have to apparently have to run it.

Might as well uninstall at this point and go play [PROTOTYPE 2] on the ol Xbox… who ever expected THAT to be the stable system?

I got disconnected every 3min aprox
I always play in mid quality, now i tried to play in lowest, but it’s the same
i have an nvidia gtx780ti, an i3 processor, 4gb Ram DDR3

That’s the same problem I have with effectively 2x the hardware. And memory.

This is NOT A MEMORY ISSUE.

It is only happening in Verdant Brink.

It is a problem with the coding of the zone.

And again. Played in WvW for an hour, no problem, try to travel to VB, and boom, crash.

Ok, we are now to the point where this happens almost every 2 minutes in Verdant Brink. The expansion is virtually unplayable for me.

Any word on a fix or a refund? This is kinda bad.

Kylden will you submit your next crash report via the crash reporter and leave a comment such as “Attn Crash Deputy” with a brief description of what you were doing. Please also include your in game name and your email in case they need additional information.

No problem. Now that I’m done with dinner, I can try again.

Per your PM, my settings are already pretty much at ‘Potato’, but I’ll see if I can lower anything else. The only other option I got is using my GeForce GTS250 card, but I swapped that back out because it was crashing with GW2 as well when I installed it about 5 or 6 months back, and that was a “I’m on a 32-bit system” problem unless you guys have fixed that in the meantime…

Told you. About 2 minutes in. Report sent per instructions.

And again after swapping in the larger GeForce GTS250, same kind of crash. In the best performance (lowest) settings.

I, and other here, should not have to go out and get another $750 of hardware to run this game we just paid $50-$100 for. If your testers are running on low end rig and not crashing, then you need to figure out the difference between them and us, FAST.

Golem Rush Feedback Mega-Thread

Dragonbrand and Gates of Madness have by all apperances ganged up on Kaineng, which for some stupid reason ended up against them on this week. Oh sure, we show all as T6 right now (https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/wvwmain) but Kaineng is rank 19 vs a 15 and 16. Rank is purely a result of coverage under current system, so not only are golems overcharged, not only are they free, there are twice the people to duplicate them and send them at us.

This is pure fen fen.

Targeting: Auto, Ground, Self

As for the topic itself, I’d rather see more fine-grained control. Namely an option that would dynamically change skills from ground targeted (when friendly or no target selected) to “at target” when an enemy’s selected.

Dear Six yes, can we have this?

Solution to fix the population imbalance

The problem I see here is I feel your looking at it wrong. If you want a sport, go to sPvP or tPvP. If you want easy fun, go to PvP………………………..If you want a trophy for everyone on your team even if they lose, you do not go to war. WvW is war. It is not a sport, or a fair game. And pouncing on unsuspecting prey or smaller numbered groups, is the name of the game.

No, it’s a game. If it was ‘War’ then when you got killed in said ‘War’ you would not be able to play in it again until server re-set. As it stands, you can’t even play defensive and try to even the odds via attrition (you know, like they did in the siege and castles days).

GG Anet, you killed another server.

I’m with everyone else is this thread.

I’m from SoR
-Week 1: GoM, Darkhaven.
-Week 2: Anvil Rock, Kaineng.
-Week 3: GoM, E-Bay
-Week 4: GoM, Darkhaven.

I want a kittening dev response and I want it right the kitten now!

I don’t care if you don’t like WvW, I don’t care if you don’t care about it. I DO and I paid for the game just like every other person who cares about it. I want a kittening dev response and I want it NOW.

I’m in Kaineng (really, are we even a server anymore… we keep bleeding out WvW guilds. We had [RAGE] leave _during the tournament!) and seeing AR again is kinda disappointing.

Seems like they just copy-pasted what they did for the Chinese version of the game.

I work for one fortune 500 international company contracted out to another fortune 500 company. I have weekly interaction with resources in Shanghai. They too hate this levelling. They had heard about what we had and they wanted that. Instead they got Lineage 2.5 with a Gemstore.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kylden Ar.3724

Kylden Ar.3724

The new trait aquisition sytem is in conflict with everything they wanted to achieve with it: providing new players with a more simple and transparent system, encouraging experimenting, giving players a better feeling of achievement.

Personally, it enourages me to never create new alts. The whole system is a chore and needs to be fully revamped.

It’s not all a chore. I’ve been leveling an alt under the new system while playing with a friend who never knew the old one, and the solutions are pretty apparent. Really, reading thru this again, it boils down to about 3 simple things to solve it;

1) Distribution of trait points – 1 new = 5 old is fine, but when we get them is the problem. Should be 1 point every five levels starting with 15. That gives you 4 trait points by the time you are level 30, and gives something in the space between skill slot at 20 and your elite. Adept unlocks at level 15, Master at 40, Grandmaster at 70.

2) Location of places to quest for major traits – Not hard really, just move them to zones and events that match their levels as above. Find master traits in areas from Level 40 to 70, and Grandmaster traits in 70+ zones.

3) Costs to learn and early options – Simply put, it is STUPID EXPENSIVE to learn traits and you have very few options to play with traits at lower levels. All Adept Traits (I-VI) should unlock for free by default at level 20 (when you’d first have the option to slot one as proposed in one above). Master and Grandmaster should have their costs to learn at a trainer halved (both coin and skill points) and the quests to unlock should be as above in two.

Seems like from the context of these 19 pages that would make the most people happy.

Game Updates: Traits

I’ll just copy my post from Reddit —

Really, I like it pretty well, but a few improvements I could see—

1) One trait point per every 5 levels starting at level 15. Keep it an even spread. Gives you something new between your level 10 skill slot and level 20 skill slot, and something between the level 20 and level 30 elite slot opening. By level 30 you’d have 4 trait points to spend that might have good synergy with skills and your elite by then.

Adept would open at level 15, Master at 40, Grandmaster at 70.

2) Traits should unlock in areas relevant to their levels. Adepts in level 15-40 zones, Master in zones up to 70, GM in 71-80. Some story mode quests should grant a choice of adept traits.

3) If not already (I have no way to test, my slots are full) traits should unlock per account, not character, for those that like multiple races of the same class.

Please remove Megaserver.
We’ve chosen a Server at the beginning because we wanted to play there. We transfer to another Server, if we don’t like the one we’ve chosen. Most of us love their Server and the “family” we found there, but the Megaserverthingy destroys everything.
I want to play with my Drakkar-family, and don’t want to be forced to a map, where 5 different languages are spoken and German speaking peoples are called kittens (kittens=bad guys from 2nd worldwar).
Maybe the system works for NA Servers, where most fellows speak English, but in EU it’s really bad.
My English isn’t good enough to bring up all my disappointment, but I think everything what bothers me was posted earlier in this thread.
Please give us back our Homeworlds!

Friend, I’m American and I agree 100%.

I picked a low pop server because my machine is not the newest (AMD Dual Core Athlon x64), and huge amounts of people on the map force me to turn my graphics down so low that Guild Wars 1 looks better.

I agree with the Megaserver concept, just not it being FORCED. Keep the megaservers, but also keep the world servers, and let the player choose if they want to stay in their normal world maps or the megaserver maps. If overflow is an issue on a map, then that can be automatic megaserver rather than overflow.

The contested waypoints thing is kinda dumb. Instead of showing all waypoints contested that could be, just let you port like before and if it IS contested, then it moves you to the closest one on the map that isn’t (like Orr has always done before).

Achievement Skins (Hall of Monuments and Zenith skins, for example) cost 0 transmutation charges.

Anyone else think LS event skins (Scarlet’s mask, injector backpack, etc) should also cost 0? And one “baseline” starter set for each armor type (light, medium, heavy) and weapon to cost 0 for those that want a consistent look for free until they hit level 80?
