My idea:
lets have
1 Eternal
2 Alpine
1 Desert Borderland
I really like this idea. DBL top center, EBG bottom center, Alpine to each side.
Fix up the DBL and that is the map that the ‘loser’ of the prior week gets, as defense is a little easier there with small groups than on the old Alpine maps. Make DBL a little smaller, cut down the ‘fall to your death’ spots a bit (except on Air keep, as that is part of the strategic point), and have the waypoints work for the server that owns a keep, period. Maybe have tunnels between the far points and the oasis that only work if you ‘own’ both ends?

Since it’s already kind of an odd map, why not enable gliding? Suddenly getting knocked off the hammer isn’t as horrible, and you could glide from mid to A or C.
Additionally, Skyhammer damage could be reduced, and you could add a platform under the holes at A and C so you’re still punished for falling through (lost time), but you can ran back up to the point from there.
Yes! I suggested that years ago. A basement. Then falling is not always instant death.

1. Make WvW Rewards more appealing to the whole player base.
2. I love the new Desert Borderlands a lot more than the Alpine as they are more complex but I do think travel times between objectives are just a tad higher than they should be, a ‘small fix’ for this would be nice. And please fill up with something the huge gap left in the center of the map now that Oasis Event is gone.
Agreed, from same server.
I know the higher tier, more populated servers love the old borderlands (and I understand that) but at the lower end the new borderlands actually make for some fun guerrilla warfare.
They just need to be 20 to 30% smaller.

Hi all,
This is a great thread. It’s constructive. We’re all reading it and referring to it in team discussions.
As we said in the AMA, our top internal priorities have been population balance and rewards. From this thread, your top five priorities are, in order:
1. Stability & skill balance
2. Fix or revert DBL
3. Rewards
4. Population balance
5. ScoringYes, we will take the feedback and make stability, general skill balance, and fixing/reverting DBL our top priorities. We’re not currently working on scoring and that has to be a longer-term project.
Karl is working specifically on WvW-focused skill balance. He’s looking for the wins for WvW that don’t screw the rest of the game.
We’re investigating whether to fix or revert DBL. They’re both a lot of work. These next couple days will be your last chance to give feedback before we make a decision, so speak now or forever hold your peace.
I want to reiterate that everything we work on either ships in April or starts beta-testing on Live servers in April. We’re locking down dev work for the April release soon — next up is localization, QA, integration and regression testing — but we’ll extend the deadline for WvW skill balance.
There is one thing that doesn’t need to get wrapped up into the April release: Friday night resets. That doesn’t require a Live build. We’ll do it.
Mo
I would like to see both Alpine Borderlands, AND Desert. But Desert, if you will keep the vertically, needs to be smaller horizontal. As you’ve removed the Oasis event, may we suggest just removing the oasis, and kinda push the rest together toward the middle. Leave some empty land in the middle for good dueling/open fights, but just making the map 20-30% shorter east/west and north/south would make a difference.
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
YES PLEASE!!! Maybe I’ll see enough people for Havoc Teams again, and also, not have to decide between movie and card games night with the family or helping my server!
Hail Kaineng!

Reduced memory usage in the 32-bit client and the Mac client.
At least for me the game is working much better anywhere. Over 5 hours of play before a crash, and I’m pretty sure that happened because of a Windows Update pop up coming in to play.
Was the specifically the Memory Fragmentation issue, or they figure out a new way to make a smaller memory footprint?

Copying over from other thread, this helped with the 32-bit OOM crashes;
For all 32bit OS there’s probably a solution:
- run Command Prompt as administrator
- run this command: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
- restart your computer and play GW2I was able to play HOT content without any crash after this. And I don’t have to use the lowest graphic settings.
I will try this tonight and let you know. Sad if a player can offer more support than ANet.
UPDATE
Tried for 15 mins before dinner. Worked, no crashes, did a lot of map changes to test.
After dinner, played again. 2 hours in WvW, Verdant Brink, and Auric Basin. No crashes. Finally got my first full map participation reward since HoT launched.
Thing to note is that this setting lets GW2 take most of the RAM, except the bare minimum Windows will reserve for itself and required services. So attempting to ALT+ TAB will probably crash GW2 or freeze the whole system while Windows scrambles to re-allocate memory. So, it works, but if you use the wiki and voice chat, you might want to do those on phone or tablet.
So, yeah, sadly the best fix so far came from another player and not ANet.

Imo they should ignore working on anything else until they fix the crashing problem for EVERYONE. 32bit, 64bit, and mac client. This is absurd.
Agreed. 32-bit users may only be about 9% of the players, but now hitting maybe 10% of the x64. I can’t think of any business that would treat almost 20% of thier customers this way.

Maybe if we buy more Gems they will listen…. Oh, wait, I’ve bought lots in the past already and the game crashes too quick to use the TP anyway.

Could we please have an acknowledgement, Anet? This is kitten serious for a lot of us. It would be nice to know you are aware and are working on it.

STOP crying all the time , sooner or later they will fix it. If you want no problems at all , start paying montly fee so they can have more programmers to minimize or fix bugs a lot faster , AND THATS THE TRUTH LIKE IT OR NOT ! ! !
What kind of person wrote this?
We paid for a working expension. Never in the history of the universe was there a more expensive expension. And for some people it’s unplayable because of the constant crashes. And now you want us to pay more every month, for them to give us what we paid for? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAUninstalled the game on mac, it was to frustrating
Indeed. We have every right to get what we paid for.
I have gotten 3 copper fed and 2 silver fed salvage tools. I have 8 permanent harvesting tools, 3 extra bank tabs, Faren’s rapier, and I pre-purchased HoT. I have paid my way in this game and to imply that ANet deserves MORE of my money to fix thier product when this is the business model they chose is offensive.
Kindly consider that next time you open your mouth and imply we deserve to pay for inferior product.

Yeah i couldn’t take it anymore, i uninstalled the game, and bought Fallout 4 on Amazon.
I didn’t uninstall but I am not playing till next year when I build a new tower and they fix this.
Also never buying gems again after the stable bait and switch on pre purchase that was BWE.

Same here. Core was stable and it seemed like HoT was getting better, now this. Every 5 minutes or less.

They’ll sort them out when enough of us can’t play that their Gemstore sales drop. Or we stop buying skins and demand performance.

Yep, same here.
Game is crashing several times an hour and is normally bringing my entire system down with it. :/
Nope, the fix is “We got your money already, get a 64-bit system for our 64-bit client.”
I downloaded that client from the Dulfy link (before this latest patch).
Made no discernible difference.
(I’m 64 bit, running on Windows 10)
That can’t be possible. The Glorious PC Master Race has told us that a 64-bit system and OS will take us to the Promised Land of GW2 in 60 FPS at all times!
Clearly you lie. /s

I used to be ale to play GW2 fin without any problems, maybe the rare crash here and there is there was alot of people on screen such as wvw… But otherwise its been pretty flawless. HoT launch, I experienced crashes on the Maguuma maps that happen anywere from 10 mins to an hour of playing. The core game continiued to work well enough, except a few crashes from time to time through the day. Now since this patch today, its like the core game has now come with the same kinds of crashes I’ve been getting in the HoT areas.
In pvp i’ve been letting the team down with constant crashes. Missing rewards in fractals by crashing on boss fights. Its furstrating. I love GW, have played it since launch and now feel I’m being given the middle finger because I’m unable to use this x64 thing people talk about. I’m a mother of 2, I can’t afford to upgrade my computer. Yes, its old, I’m still stuck on vista. But due to how Gw has played for the last 3 years, I would expect it to continiue working.
I really hope this gets fixed soon.
Don’t bet on it. It’s a problem core to the engine and memory fragmentation. The x64 is not a fix, it’s just letting their memory hog of a program have more memory to hog.
So basically, either put up with the constant crashing every 5-10 mins.. Or uninstal and leave the game until I can get a much better computer? Yay :’(
Pretty much. They have taken a very much ‘not talk about it’ approach to it in the last week or so, even though they knew about this since launch 3 years ago, and it started again with HoT release.
It’s depressing. Been with them a long time, thru GW1 and this. Now… I am getting to where I just don’t care anymore.
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
So, not even going to acknowledge this today are they?
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.

Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
Why anyone would even try PvP on their patch days when a quick check of the forums confirms the crashes are back….
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
before this patch i couldn’t play the new maps without crashes, but the core game was fine and running, no crashes whatsoever but now, with the new patch, they just enabled “upgraded HoT mode” for all of us.. wich means MORE crashes and in EVERY mode or map, being the new ones or just the core game…
i guess this is how they plan to “deal” with us who have the misfortune to crash and don’t have a 64bit OS: by just IGNORING us and making everything even worse, so we’ll just stop playing on our own and the problems will magically disappear! just look at what support says: if u got a 32b, they tell you to get a 64b, and if you have a 64b,
they tell you to try the 64b client… and if you have a 32b and can’t/don’t want to upgrade? for them you’re just trash… and we’re being treated as such, mocked and ignored. and i bet that they’ll soon just say “32b OS are not supported anymore!” and that will just be the end.
I would rather they just be bloody well honest and SAY THAT.
It worked fine in BWE. No problems. Then all the issues since launch. No fixes. Very few comments on it. The only place they admitted the memory fragmentation issue was buried in a thread here and one buried on reddit. No front page sticky of, ’We’re working on it."
I am really starting to feel like they are saying “we got your money already, we don’t care.” to their (admittedly small) 32-bit user population, and their Mac populations, and that is terrible business. I will never pre-purchase from them again, and they will never see another dollar for Gems.
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
Great. The new patch made it worse. Now I’m crashing in core, PvP, and WvW Borderlands.
If they don’t want my Gems anymore, they could just tell me they are not going to fix this and I could move on to Star Wars or something that fixes these.

Also, might be something weird with PPT in WvW. Kaineng is steamrolling our opponents this week, and last. By way too much even for our holdings. And why is green getting red’s EotM supply drops?
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
Ok, but even then it doesn’t explain the scores in the image.
I know Devona’s Rest is trying, cause they are constantly in my Borderlands taking my camps and towers and making us kick them out. I could see the scores being higher across the board, but not this far apart (as of last night).
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
I too have seen this (Kaineng), it’s very annoying.
I wonder if red is getting our green drop…
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
I have seen thos as well as seeing red’s supply drops in our green citadel.
Will update with screenshot when I get home.
Leader of TACO mini-roamer guild, Kaineng.
