Forum Section: Guilds - Give Categories

The Guild section of the forum is a frustrating place to be on the forum. The spamming/ posting of every single guild recruiter and individuals creating a topic there, under one category as been a ridiculous situation for a long time. I would like to suggest that more forum categories be made for the Guild section of the forum to ease the flow of incoming posts, so every ones topics do not get buried on to page 4 and 5 after just a few hours of posting.

Some ways of going about doing this is…

GUILDS
- Guilds > Whether you’re seeking a guild or recruiting for one, you can do it right here.
- NA Guild Recruitment > Guilds recruiting on North America region, you can do it right here.
- EU Guild Recruitment > Guilds recruiting on European region, you can do it right here.
- NA Player Looking for Guild > Seeking a guild, you can do it right here for North America region.
- EU Player Looking for Guild > Seeking a guild, you can do it right here, for European region.

Can leave the original Guild forum category for generic stuff.

I think with guesting coming soon, this would benefit everyone on the forums and in game as the player base will be officially locked down on the two data centers.

If you are tired of the Guild forums category section the way it is, please let Anet know I am not alone in this. If you have suggestions on ways to make the Guild section of the forum better place to navigate, also let Anet know, here. The more ideas the better it can potentially get.

All I want it is a better way for everyone to be noticed, so we the players, can find a guild to call home.

Being apart of this community as brought me many friends, if it wasn’t for the people who I talk to, help me, and overall just find ways to have fun, in a game that can get very tedious and repetitive if you don’t switch up things you are doing.

I have been with this community for 5 years and this guild for 6 months (beta weekends) within Guild Wars 2 . Even though I am the guild leader, I choose to be so. For the very fact that this community as been a positive presence in my life.

We are always changing and evolving to improve things, but the core principles which as kept the community strong for so many years remains.

My time spent and how I have fun in World vs World is not tied to what tier our world is on, so I don’t really care about the score. Killing yaks, sentry’s, taking camps, towers and defending those positions as long as possible is how I have a good time. When online I try my best to communicate in chat and ping points where I see the enemy and if more bodies are needed to repel the invaders.
My guild and the people I support in game, try to help the best we can. We do not always succeed in taking a tower or castle, but we have fun doing it.

Yeah god forbid, a strong server, who wants to remain strong makes an effort to do so. Communication and co-operation is what isle of Janthir does best. Random people from our server making an effort by posting in the World vs World section of the forums to get peoples attention, is a good example of our community, who have loyalty and people that care within.

Isle of Janthir is one of the few servers who have remained in the top 10 since beta, that right there shows our communities strength.

Assured Mutual Destruction – Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (AMD-ICBM)

We welcome anyone into our ranks who share the love of playing and talking about video games. We believe in fair play, equal opportunity and helping each other achieve our goals. A community of gamers, friends and family is what we continuously strive to be, maintained with care since 2007.

Guild Wars 2

We have been a guild within the game since the first beta weekend event, April 2012. Our community is strong and dedicated to the server world we play on. We have been on Isle of Janthir since April and have no plans to go anywhere; we are not a guild that server hops and leaves its members in the dust.

Our humble community is simply looking for some new friends to play with. Keeping things fun and active is what we want to maintain within the game. Opening up the recruitment doors for the first time, since September is one way of doing this. Our guild members are helpful and teach each other about the game; by having conversations, we can learn from what others have experienced. We have members with a wide range of progression throughout the game, ranging from those just starting out to others with multiple level 80 characters and world completion.

Here’s the bullet points of what we do, have to offer, requirements and contact information.

Servers
US Worlds – Isle of Janthir

Daily Game Play Style
PvE: Achievements Daily/ Monthly, Crafting/ Gathering/ Salvaging, Bosses & Dragons, Dungeons, Jumping Puzzles, Map Completion (Renown Hearts – Waypoints – Points of Interest – Skill challenges – Vistas), Meta Events, Personal Storyline

PvP: Achievements Daily/ Montlhy, World vs World

Weekly/ Monthly Guild Events
PvE: Dungeons, Exploring/ Map Completion, Farming, Guild Missions, Jumping Puzzles, Meta Events, Personal Storyline, Power Leveling (Karma), Scavenger Hunt

Elite Area: Fractals of the Mists

PvP: Structured Player vs Player (sPvP) , Tournaments, World vs World

What [ICBM] Have & Offer
1. Leadership with more than 5 years experience running a guild in Guild Wars and since beta within Guild Wars 2.

2. 40 plus active guild members with 60 total, average 10-20 online concurrently, with 90% choosing to represent at all times.

3. Guild website with a private forum & news section updated daily.

4. Community VoIP Servers (voice chat), Team Speak 3.

5. North American based community, who welcome people from all over the world, as play times vary.

6. Daily guild events that cover all aspects of PvE during the week. A advanced calendar system on the website to easily keep track of these events. Able to comment, subscribe and has multiple different viewing options.

7. A Guild bank, with a system in place for convenient deposit and withdraws. With discount perks given to members, why pay the Black Lion tax, when you can earn interest back with ICBM.

8. Group of people who are willing to play, teach, learn and just have fun.

9. A community infrastructure that allows you to be a part of something more than just a game. We have a system in place that allows people to contribute to the community and be recognized for said contributions.

What We Are Looking For?
If one of the following apply to you, then you may just fit right in.

1. Want to be part of a community not just a guild drone. We will never force you to farm or join in on anything you don’t want to.

2. Are actively working towards achieving your in game-goals but would sometimes like support from a friend or party.

3. Are willing to not only learn, but teach and help others when you can.

4. Log in monthly, weekly or everyday, does not matter as long as you enjoy playing the game.

What Are The Requirements?
1. Guild Rules
Follow the guild rules/ member’s conduct.

2. Website: Must Make an Account First.
To join a guild as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), you must first join the community of Assured Mutual Destruction (AMD) by having an account by means of the website “ amd-icbm.com”.

3. Voice Chat
To participate in certain Community Events and Elite Areas you will need to sometimes use Team Speak (voice chat). You do not need to talk but the willingness to listen to others will help the entire group complete the intended goal.

Since your on a budget of under $200 by your posts of cards, here are cards for under 200 dollars that perform better that the 6870’s, 2540 benchmark rating,

1. Radeon HD 7850, BM: 3,695 , $169.99, Rated #3 for best value.

GeForce GTX 560, BM: 3,052, $179.99, Rated #10 for best value.
GeForce GTX 650 Ti, BM: 2,727, $139.99, Rated #11 for best value.
GeForce GTX 460, BM: 2,692, $139.99, Rated #12 for best value.
Radeon HD 7770, BM: 2,583, $119.79, Rated #6 for best value.

Source of Info:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/
http://www.newegg.com/Video-Cards-Video-Devices/Category/ID-38

Thinking about picking up a Radeon HD 7850 myself now after looking at the data for you. At that price and performance level it’s a nice boost to a PC with minimal investment.
I use a Radeon HD 6950 $249.99 which has a Benchmark of 3,142.

Can talk about this and that all we want, but until the code is fixed up to deal with performance issues, doesn’t matter what we have in our systems.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FPS-and-Performance-based-issues-1

A $500 and a $5,000 PC runs Guild Wars 2 about the same. Yes the PC with more power will get you some more Frames Per Second (FPS) when idle, but when the actions starts it’s all the same issues.

Have to love peoples lack of understanding of economics. The more people in the market, the less everything costs.
If you think things cost to much gold now? Then segregating the market share to server base would cause everything to sky rocket, as there would be less of a chance for those rare items to drop for a server population. Items of a certain rarity would be up for sale for a short time before they would be sold at criminal prices, only the extreme rich like gold sellers and botters would snatch them up and then re-sell them for even higher.

Competition in the market is what drives prices down. Monopolies is what drives prices up.
Which is happening now to “top-tier items”, just because a person bought a item for 200g then puts it back up on the market for 400g, does not mean they will ever sell that item. Most likely because of the global market people will under cut that price to sell theirs quicker. Eventually over time driving the price back down to normal.

If Competition didn’t exist you think Orichalcum Ore would be at 1 silver to buy and declining? No it would be much higher, the prices keep going down because of the global market that is set up.

Sure I could try and buy 100,000 of something and re-sell it, but the system is set up so the window of opportunity is to small, to gain the gold back.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Leohan.1096

The main difference in this Ascended Armor and GW1?s Ascension is that the character does not do a quest to gain access to an the elite areas of the game. Or go infuse there favorite set of armor to with stand a Mursaat attack. No these are pieces of armor that must be grinded out to be able to have access to the elite area.
Your Exotic Armor at certain point in this new elite dungeon will become useless and you will hit a wall until you “HAVE” / “NEED” to wear the Ascended Armor.

Get ready for the “LFG must have Ascended Armor”, this is GW1?s must have this rank or this skill to just to join a group all over again.

To me, thought the 7 year beta test that was Guild Wars 1, had Anet learn its lessons on what works and what does not. People not being able to join Domain of Anguish because they did not have certain things needed to get it done, was frustrating.
Anyone remember not being able to play the game because you did not have Ursan Blessing top ranks, when that skill was super overpowered.

Not to mention how this going to effect other parts of the game, Am I going to get one shotted in World vs World because I did not update my Exotic Armor in the last 9 months? Adding in another set of armor fine, another tier, fine. However the greater stat bonus for these new armors must stop here and go no further or the pile dirt created will become a mountain for new comers or people who took a break from the game years from now.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Leohan.1096

Hello everybody.

We have merged two parallel threads that were discussing the ascended gear. Please, feel free to keep on posting your constructive feedback and impressions here.

Thanks.

I will say this, people who want the armor treadmill to be better because of the numbers on a spreadsheet, already have many MMO’s to choose from. So those type of players spoke up on the forums and wanted the gear grind, left the game because of lack of better stats to feel better about themselves.

Arena Net, let those people go, do not try and get them back.
Why?
You are going to corner the market on the people who enjoy the lack of said power creep. Guild Wars 1 is a skill based game and Guild Wars 2 is a skill based game.
Sure people need a carrot keep playing. However that carrot should not be forced down the users throat.

If those people who can’t figure things out for themselves. If they can’t set the carrot on a stick and string by themselves to reach the many goals or end game already set forth. It is not the games fault.

I have played Guild Wars for 6 years now, on a every other day basis, from week to week, with no extended absences from the community. One of the many reasons mostly the GW community and my guild. But, another was never having to keep running up the hill or chase some stat bonus. I played the game because I wanted to.

I have quit every other MMO, I have ever played because the mountain to chase that gear becomes to high, to steep and I am no longer playing the content I want to, just a one dungeon raid over and over again to stay on top the peak.
Never playing all the old content ever again or enjoying other areas of the game.

This why I am against stats being better on regular basis. I would like to be able to continue to play the skill based game because I “want” to, not because I “need” to.

That is my feedback.

The servers are tagged for people who speak the same languages to be able to have a server to talk to each other and understand one another. If you can not stand your [FR] server or [DE] not being Tier 1. Then join a server that is.

Locking everyone onto a server by time zone is ridiculous, so I am on Eastern and my friends on Central, now I can no longer play with some one a few kilometers away? This is an MMO on the world wide web. The world is becoming a global community more and more everyday.
Now some people want to turn this game into a offline co-op game where only people that are next door to each other can play World vs World against each other?

Do you have any idea how quickly the game would die if of this sort of thing was implemented.
Guild Wars as always been a game where I can play with anyone I want at any time I want.

Just because some people can not handle that others may not sleep at the same time they do, they want lock outs and IP blocking? Yeah no thanks, I would like to be able to play with my french friends half way across the world for another 7 years within Guild Wars.

Guild Wars 2 Lacks Longevity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Leohan.1096

Leohan.1096

….Continued from above…

Heart Quests… they are traditional quests, now you do not have to run back and forth anymore, like some sort of track runner or mail man. You want grind and end game, but Heart quests are to long and grindy? Hmm there seems to be a theme here. You wanting grind and then complaining about about grind.

Dynamic Events, leave the kitten area. It is your fault for repeating the same content over and over again. Why are you blaming the game for doing the same escort farmer quest 7 times in a row.

There are raids, it’s called a Dungeons.

You do not like the open concept of Guild Wars 2 to do or go anywhere you want? But you hate linear game play as well. Hmmm, again what do you want?
Where do you go, what do you do? Do your personal story, it leads you to almost every area of the map.

Heart quests do reward you, check your in game mail.

No variety in armor? Have you played the game? Seriously try to do something other than heart quests and dynamic events.

Again this video shows you have barely played this game. Showing your toon skills and having no utility skills unlocked shows this.

To expect a game to to have World of Warcrafts content in 2 months after release is not realistic.

The game does not give you a goal or a carrot to follow to keep you playing? Have you tried to complete any achievement?

42:00 he says the motivation for all his problems. Contradicts himself again saying there is end game, the dungeons ,but you will grind for armor, just for the looks. So it’s not relevant, because the armor is not for more powerful armor in stats. The overwhelming talking over yourself at this point catching yourself as you stumble over your own sentences is what listening to this whole video is like.

WANTING TO HELP IMPROVE AND APPRECIATE THE EFFORT

Yes I watched your whole video and I want you to improve. The concept and counter opinions are there and valid. Just writing everything down and putting them in structured essay form would make this type of video so much better. People are shutting down the video half way through and not earring your positive points because of the rambling that takes place.

This whole video just contradicts it’s self minutes later after a point about something else was made. I suggest you write a script and get your points down on paper. Organize your thoughts better. Which will allow your side, your opinion to come out better for others to understand where you are coming from.

Guild Wars 2 Lacks Longevity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Leohan.1096

Leohan.1096

Guild Wars 1. It was a PvP end game. The PvE in 2005-2006 was to teach you how to play the game, then once you hit level 20 and learned the how to play, you were supposed to start PvPing.
Again Guild Wars 1 was a PvP focused game.

Not having advantage over other people if you didn’t buy Factions or Nightfall? Really did you use the the skills at all? Nightfall Heroes (NPC’s) ruled PvE for many years, even replacing real people. Taking Heroes was usually better and faster to do PvE with.

Eye of the North was steamed from wanting to give players something while they waited for Guild Wars 2. The new game was planned to be made before, while Utopia (Cancelled stand alone game) was being made, which turned into Eye of the North.

Less players? No new players? Guild Wars 1 had new players coming in everyday. Saw this in recruiting for my guild on a day to day bases. New people wanting to learn and know the basics of the game from 2007-2012.

Guild Wars 2 was not mentioned for a few years because why show something that is not finished. So many developers make the mistake of talking to early about their games. Only talking about what you have done/ completed is the correct way to release information.

Why do you think Anet as such a fan base that fellow’s them, maybe because they treat their community with some respect. Anet is not unique in this aspect, but there are not many companies out there that have this community feel around it.

Why do you think, a game needs a subscription fee? Guild Wars 1 was a viable game for 7 years with out one. Subscriptions don’t work anymore. They never really did in the first place. Why do all other MMO’s have backed tracked to have no subs. Star Wars after just a few months of being hardcore subs, went free to play.

You contradict your self, you say you want raiding end game, but can never do it and only can do it over the summer because you do not have the time. If you can’t raid or do not have the time, but you want the exact same mechanic, and content you have no time to play?

What is so wrong with multiple story archs/paths, so when you roll a new toon you don’t have to go through the exact same cut scenes? Really? You have a problem with having the stories branching out and being different for each character you make?

Guild Wars 1 was never about being more powerful, Guild Wars 2 is not about being more powerful. Gear in both games are not important. Ummm games are pointless. What makes a game worth something is the communities you build and the friends you make.

Also you could have had 10 or 50 people out past enemy lines. There is more then just the center path to get out of the home base, you can also go left or right.

Combat Rezzing Needs to Change

in WvW

Leohan.1096

I see, while in combat, only one person can rez a dead body at a time, but out of combat the current system is still in place (more people, faster rez).
That could keep things fair, for while in combat, if all rez meters were slow. But if out of combat 5 people could rez the guy for a faster time, to be able to keep up with the group.

To me this is a good idea. Now that we talked over a few things.

Oh an limiting the number of people to rez one guy is NOT impossible, I have seen the message come up a few times saying “To many people are resurrecting this person”, something along those lines, so it is possible to limit this.

Extra random thought…
People leaving GW2 because of downed state? They must really hate Borderlands (game), as this is where the system comes from.

Why on earth would you fight 50 people with just 5-10 in an open field? Yes, defending a tower with low numbers, will have problems keeping the foe zerg at bay and killing them, that is why you use the chat. Communicate with your allies and call for help.

Yes, people can rez each other, that is why you and your allies have to make sure that you are the ones pushing forward and not letting your foes get to the downed bodies.
See some one trying to rez another? Use a knockdown/back skill.

Being able to rez each other in the middle of battle works fine, it brings another element to game play that makes you aware of the battle field and surroundings. It is not broken it does not ruin my fun. It makes me think and keeps me aware of what is going on around me instead of just spamming all my skills at once. I may save a knockdown skill because I know someone will try to rez the guy in front of me.

edit… and if they are in a down state? Run up to them and press the F key, pro tip ;-)

World vs World is meant to be the PVE server with PvP turned on via/ like Traditional MMO’s have. It’s supposed to have all the PvE things in it, but with an added twist of having to watch your back. Just like the old school MMO’s.
It also has “Alliance Battles” (GW1) of capturing points on a map.

People camping and preventing you from doing the puzzle? Use the chat. Let your allies know of this. I have done this several times and get a small group to take out those invaders in the puzzles, most of the time they run for it when they see a group coming.
Communicate with your team mates, use the chat. If you can’t kill the invaders, go to another map.
You should only really be doing the borderlands puzzle on your home servers map anyways, as that is deep in your territory and easier to keep more green dots then red in it.

You need to do the all the puzzles for Map Completion? In a weeks time the map locations will change to get the others ones. Everything doesn’t have to be at once.

Your on a server with PvP turned on, if things not going your way. Take a breath, log off for the day and come back tomorrow and try again. Life and gaming is a lot more fun when your not stressing out, trying to do the same thing over and over again.

I enjoy World vs World a lot, maybe because I am a server with players 24/7. I’ll tell myself only for a few hours, then 12 hours later happens. The push and pull. Communicating back and forth with allies and scouting enemy positions.
Tower defense is the most fun I have, trying to hold back the hordes while calling out for support, watching the ally zerg/mob come up like a wave and destroy the invaders.

World vs World is a lot of fun, I know some servers are having problems with some stuff. But for me, yes the way WvW is, I enjoy it.

(Maybe orbs should change to karma bonus, instead of health)

Allow players to replenish supplies

Original Poster (OP), is talking about allies will take supplies from the camp for their own and leave the tower/keep/garrison , while walking by it. Resulting in a tower never having the supplies to finish upgrading.
Most of the time this is just a person not knowing any better to only take supplies from the camps, unless under siege and something needs a repair.
If this starts happening, I will message in chat, to please not take supplies from tower/keep with low supplies and take from camps while you are there.

Yeah sure, there could be spies who waste supplies on purpose. But most of the time just have to communicate in chat to people. Everyone is not a month old war veteran.
Yes sometimes people don’t know what a chat window is, but can’t control everything.

You have some talent in those hands. Hope you don’t enter the Halloween Diorama contest, I would like a chance to win..lol ;-)

I like how you did the chaotic edging on the border, conforms with the logo really well.
