Damage modifiers (unless specified) don’t affect illusions, but at the same time your own DPS is far more reliable than your illusions so it’s probably worth getting a couple damage modifiers in there.
Yes, when I say slaying, night, perception or bloodlust sigils, they’re more dungeon focused.
For open world, something like a bog standard force/accuracy would probably be fine, there’s even a skill that gives you swiftness on kill which can help you get around.
When it comes to WvW, it depends what you want to do there – a phantasm build will transfer quite badly to zerging, but is fine in roaming. It’s generally best to build separately for WvW and PvE even if it means spendng a couple seconds reraiting and equipping another set of gear.
I see, I see, sounds reasonable. =o
I think Force would be a better option, i’ve already got plenty of Critical Chance with these builds as well.
By the last post, i’m guessing you believe the Inspiration path is the way to go? I’ve tried it the most out of the three, I’ve not actually tried going down the illusion path as of yet, and the PU path was goooood fun, aside from being stuck to Torch.
You don’t generally want to shatter in dungeons/fractals since it’ll hit your DPS pretty hard.
I looked at the inspiration build and I’d swap out the domination trait for empowered illusions, swap deceptive evasion for phantasmal fury and swap medic’s feedback for glamour mastery.
Fire sigils are bad so use either force, slaying, night, perception or bloodlust. Off-hand energy is fine if you find you need the extra dodge (once you become familiar with an encounter you probably won’t), but otherwse just use a battle sigil or some other sort of damage modifier (e.g. on my warrior’s axe/mace I’ll have sigil of force mainhand and then sigil of justice off-hand in CM … but I’m an efficiency fanatic).
Scholar runes over traveler runes as well, unless you do more open world so as opposed to dungeons.
I wasn’t sure as to use Force runes cause it said they didn’t affect Illusions so I left them off, also, is this a fractal focused build? To be honest I should’a been specific, it’s more of a uh… 1. PvE 2. WvW 3. Fractal, type deal. =o
After being told multiple times that a shatter specced mesmer has a much higher skill cap, I decided to fiddle around and attempt to make one for myself. I doubt they’re any good, but it’s a start.
I’d like a Shatter build that had a higher skill cap that’ll mainly be used in PvE, Fractals, and WvW. I’m unsure whether Traveler runes or Scholar runes with the spec’s for the additional movement speed or the additional damage (After all, idea of being a mesmer is to not get hit), but the weapon sets have to include Sword and Offhands Pistol and Focus, Scepter could be included as well for the clone generation if it’s a good idea as well. I enjoy being hard to hit, annoying to the other player, and things being fast. I don’t like faceroll builds where you sit there and slap 1 for half an hour standing still either, so any help would be appreciated. I know I come back here a lot asking for build help and I appreciate all the help I get, thank you! =D

So, in closing, What would be a lovely build for Shatters with some Phantasmal Benefits, Good DPS and CC. =o
25 in illusions give you faster recharging phantasms, so it’s quite nice for phantasm builds as well.
I personally use a pistol focus condition build with rabid set. one volley from both phantasm is ~16 stacks of bleed, if you throw in a glamor at the same time you get some confuse stacks on as well, then shatter for more confuse. Fairly effective against mob packs, especially one with a veteran in it that you can lock on.
0/20/30/20/0 with a sceptor (debilitating dissipation, interupt stuff) or 0/20/0/20/30 with a sword (iPersona, shatter stuff)
Edit: Oh. I also use perplexity runes, so the pistol 5 and focus 4 are used to stack confusion as well.
Ooh, that seems interesting. =o
@Xyonon: Honest curiosity never annoys me bro.
Both Shatter builds and Phantasm builds make use of both shatters AND phantasms, but designate one as their primary damage source and the other becomes secondary. A shatter build can blow Mind Wrack and Cry of Frustration in a single burst; then summon Phantasms in that 10 second recharge period. The Phantasms may not be traited or much priority, but still adds heavy damage. iSwordsman hitting for 3-5k damage is gonna be valuable in a shatter build, especially since it can attack twice inbetween Mind Wracks.
It works the same for Phantasm builds, though to a lesser degree. If your phantasms are dead and on CD, why not Mind Wrack shatter for extra damage in the mean time? In many cases if you’re in danger of dying, it’d be dumb not to use Distortion to save your life, even at the cost of a Phantasm (assuming the Phantasm wouldn’t kill the mob in time for you to rezz).
10 seconds instead of 15 makes a noticeable difference when you’re trying to shatter as rapidly as possible, but the cooldowns are even more important for Diversion/Distortio. Shaving 10-15 seconds off a skill is a pretty hefty boost.
@Liebnir: Shatter builds tend to be a bit more difficult (and more fun IMO.. but I’m a fan of builds where you can constantly see yourself improving and know that not everyone can play it the way you are. /conceitedDance ). What’s your priority for the build? Damage, enemy control, support? Focus and Pistol both come with some nice CC. Slap a sword on there and you’ve got CC and Damage, and I’d still say go for 0/20/0/20/30
.. Wait a sec, looking at my last post, that setup would be fine for a fully shatter-focused build. o_O Not intended but .. works. Either way, Phantasms will be contributing to damage, and you usually wanna keep iWarden up as much as you can for its projectile shutdown no matter what the build.
Well I want something I can get better with so a shatter spec would be an interesting change for once, I use to run one with GS/Sword+Focus but when I worked out GS from my builds I sort of trailed off.
(edited by LiebnirGWAccount.5698)
I wasnt assuming a pure phantasm build. The spec I suggested would make use of both shatters AND phantasms.
Hallo! No worries about the last thread, it’s all good, and i’m looking for a build either way, either full shatter or full phantasms. I rarely do both, I like to focus on one of the two! ^^
The +3% damage per Illusion has the problematic point, that it does only count for your own damage and not for your Illusions. Bad description yes … Illusions deal damage based on your own main stats and weapon damage as far as i know. For example – Precision will increase their crit chance, but a sigill that increases your crit chance won’t increase theirs.
That’s why I like to give my Illusion full power with +32.25% damage (1.15*1.15).
I see, I knew that Compoundin’ only affected me but the thought seemed pretty good, get myself 3 phantasms and then go in to Melee. =o
Lookin’ about Shatter Builds too, still no luck. Any thoughts on utilizing Pistol #5 for Interrupts?
10/30/0/30/0
- So you have +15% dmg on phantasms,
- Fury for phantasms,
- 20% CDR and buff for sword,
- aswell pistol
- aswell focus and reflection,
- another reflection buff
- and again +15% phantasm dmg
- and mooore reflection :P
might work
It’s a phantasm build though.
Ooh, seems interesting, very close to what I use now minus the illusion bits for the +3% damage each illusion!
Well if you are looking for a wvwvw roaming/duel spec that uses pistol and focus, I have one in my signature
PvE I’m clueless I’m affraid :p
I’ll take a looksy! Thanks you though.
Hey guys, me..A-Again.
This time i’m looking for a build that focuses in on Pistol with a Focus at the second Offhand, this would be a PvE Heavy build with some WvW play from time to time.
I could do Sword/Pistol + Focus, not sure if Scepter would be a worthy addition unless it’s a shatter spec.
I’m not really sure what’d be the best build for this, with Scepter, i’d say a shatter, without, a phantasm. My current phantasm build is 10/30/0/20/10, but i’m not so sure about this, I love Mesmer and it’s the only class I play, and i’m looking for something that has a higher skill cap, something that I can get a lot better at in the long run as opposed to a face-rolly build, thanks for any help in advance!
Boopity boop bop!
There you go! ^^
Sweet merciful spaghetti monster thank you! – Kisses all over – <3
I’ve been having a look and asking ingame for quite a while now, I used the search function to no avail either.
Does Quip’s confetti affect out #5 skill (Magic Bullet)
Simple as that, and if so, can I have a screenshot or video of it if it’s possible because I can’t find one ANYWHERE!
You know, I read the word “fun” so many times that I figured if I chanted the OP infront of a mirror three times in the dark a Candy-Fairy would pop up and smother me with delicious treats. (It didn’t work)
To the point though.. Your request is a little vague, it looks like you want to make a PU build… without PU? Since you have focus, I’d suggest Traiting it, and adding a reflect theme to your build (as well as a combo field). If you go that route, throw the 20 points into Inspiration for Medic’s Feedback and Warden’s Feedback.
Since your clones are already exploding conditions on death, why not add Crippling Dissipation (Chaos V) for … more conditions? Though it’s a bit RNG, the potential to proc Weakness is a big help. The extra vuln may not hurt either.
It’s a bit hard to direct ya when .. well.. you could really do a lot with a free 20-30 points and each choice would have an impact on the build direction. Do you have any ideas of what other traits yer interested in?
Sorry to be so uh…Odd, I don’t really even know what I want either at this point!
I’m trying to make, to some degree, a power build revolving around the weapon set Scepter/Pistol + Sword/Focus.
It was ORIGINALLY a PU build but without the torch it’s nullified it a bit so I was wondering how I could better spend those points. I could split the 30 into 10 for Chaos and 20 for Inspiration giving my Phantasms a boost and helping support wise, as well as boost my Focus skill #4.
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-N;4VPV11y6RW-71;9;49T9J-4;01894;007;24NG0L;9o-FvsFD2hVYod1-60B1G2LZR42H0BV2qo
Or instead of Inspiration, I could put 20 into Illusions for 20% quicker Phantasms (Not sure if this stacks with other weapon proficiency skills)
I’m not sure that a Condition would would be too efficient for me as I do more PvE than WvW/PvP at this point.
The trait that i’ve been eyeing up is the Empowering Mantra’s (4% more damage per readied mantra) due to the upcoming mantra changes.
EDIT; In response to the “fun” issue, I have fun with my weapon set, thats what makes it fun! It’s more so i’m looking to be a bit more efficient with it, sorry if i’m a bit confusing.
Hey guys, me again, i’m sure you hate me by now!
This is another weird build working around Prismatic understanding, this time i’m attempting a Scepter/Pistol + Sword/Focus build. Now, hear me out, this build isn’t built to be some amazingly good build that’ll rip enemies to shreds in seconds, it’s meant to be fun! Effective, but fun.
The first build works with 10/30/30, for Prismatic understanding, but since I no longer use torch, I believe it could be better used elsewhere;
The variation of this build I uh…I’ve no idea. What I need to figure out is; If we take 20/30 points out of Chaos and put them uh…Elsewhere. Work out what runes and possibly a change in sigils, i’m really not sure. I usually go with whats flashy and fun (Fire sigils).
Anyway, thats uh..It for now, I’m up for a good few hours so if you want to talk and such that’d be good fun! Stay safe and have fun!
Would love to join in, thank you!
http://intothemists.com/guides/643-prismatic_clone_factory_20
Is very similar to your build and is my main tpvp build. Conditions are definitely the way to go with this. For sigils, I highly suggest Sigil of Energy for more clone spamming goodness.
Thanks for the cool build but i’d really prefer not to swap out my weapons, 1. I like them. 2. I made legendaries from other builds and I feel mean not using them…X’D
Ok, going to assume you mean torch instead.
It’s actually an interesting build. A bit odd, but I sort of like it. Your damage is going to hurt a bit since you only have 1 good phantasm and it will die VERY easily, but the combination of the clone death traits is interesting. You could definitely tie someone up very well with them.
I would put the sword with the scepter and the torch with the sword, just personal preference, I like to have the 2 blocks on that one weapon set.
I would avoid summoning the iMage at all costs unless you desperately need it for the condition removal.
I would drop null field in favor of Mantra of Resolve. With PU, you’ll have plenty of chances to charge it, and it’ll provide far more effective removal than null field.
This wouldn’t work as a condition build at all really. I’d recommend putting energy sigils in place of fire though, and replacing those runes of the pack with something a bit more useful.
Thats my idea, it’s a slow death, but it works in combination with the PU! The idea is to constantly get clones going to the point that you’re able to Perma Cripple someone. My usual damage chain goes to start off in Scepter/Focus and use my Warden, i’d then swap to Sword/Torch and use my Illusionary Leap to immobilize them and teleport to use Sword #2, once thats done I can dodge back to make another clone and invis using Torch #4, get out of range and use Scepter #1/#3 for clone spammage and confusion.
You appear to have sword/sword+scepter/sword as your weapons. I’m thinking that’s a mistake?
Ah big sorry! I’m Sword/Torch and Scepter/Focus. I use this combination so i’ve got skills to block on each one (Sword #2 and Scepter #2)
Hey guys, and i’m back with my creepy build uh…Thing.
I’ve been running a PU build since the “Build Diversity” patch due to the changes to some of the traits I used to run and this is what it has become thus far. It works well (In my opinion) as a clone spamming power build (EG; Spamming clones to recycle and activate conditions whilst snapping at the enemy through other means) but i’m not sure if there is something I could do in order to nip a bit more DPS into it.
My main wonder is whether or not this would be better DPS wise as a condition build or remain as a power build with changes to the Runes and Sigils.
I like the build in itself, some good survivability thanks to PU, and the weapon set is my favourite, i’m just wondering if i’m being naive with some aspects of it and going “Nawh, thats alright, it’s my baby I wouldn’t change it for the world” Any advice/constructive criticism would be loved, i’ll probably reply in a few hours as it’s 3:15am in England, and I need my nap! Stay safe and have fun! Thank you again!
Just a comment on the sigils: you have good power stat (>3k attack) and high crit chance, use sigil of air or even better sigil of fire for quick burst of dmg. Sigil of earth is supposed to work with condition spec build only.
Actually I might give some comments on the weapon choice as well.
Scepter is a bit out of place for this build, staff is a much better choice since you can stack tons of conditions on enemies then let iWarlock hit like a truck.I would highly suggest to go with Sword + Torch / Staff.
Here’s the link to my modification: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=VN;4VPV11y63V-71;9;4JJT;048-39-49B;45NW4;2t_MTt_MTo-FvNJP7;2V1-60B1G2LZR42oVJV2kX
Whole idea of this build was to be a bit odd. Scepter is a weapon I enjoy so thats why I use it, but thanks for the sigil input!
Tryin’ again. Give us your thoughts!
- Crycrycry – No one able to help? </3
Remind me of the bard epic in EQ. It’s a nice improvement.
It’s a GREAT improvement!
It’s a lot better than what we had, I wouldn’t complain, and having it on Asura, i’ve had loads of people ask me compared to normal what it was.
I like it – I’m not a big fan of flashy footfalls or auras – there are plenty of legendaries that do that. This I think brought it up to standard while still keeping it understated.
I’m not gonna complain at all, they could have easily gone “Meh, it’s alright” and left it without any justice.
This really needs to be a playable instrument as well.
“Check out my legendary lute.”
“Wow, play something for me.”
“Uh, it’s only for looking.”
If only…
Its nice, but… they pretty much just fixed what was broken and made it a bit shinier and more noticeable. I was expecting more.
Admitedly yes, but it’s better than nothing at all!
Tnx Anet… really thanks The Minstrel Rules 4 life
Minstrelsy!
That’s it?
Step in the right direction I suppose.
I thought it was brill!
Arenanet…You did good…You did good. ;~; <3
((Thumbs up!))
Interesting spec. Usually I play those 2 condition damage not power so I will have to see how that goes when I test it. For the first one, you have both on death traits without DE which could hurt a little bit. I can sort of understand the on death trait of chaos since it has apply vuln or weakness. For the second spec, the on death traits make much more sense since you can spam those clones and have perma cripple on someone
. I do have to say you are running no condi removal which is very risky and I would swap feedback for at least null field or something. As for sigils, you could swap accuracy for force or bloodlust/perception for one of the weapons. Runes are honestly personal preference so I wont go into it. If you are having trouble with condis though I would recommend lyssa, as that reset is really helpful. Finally, where is your main source of damage coming from? Focus usually does not do a lot of damage but more utility.
My condition removal comes in the form of the IV Torch Skill from the Domination Line, I was using the 20 points in the Inspiration for the Reflection as a form of control (Durin’ boss fights, having 3 x Focus Phantasm could be useful in blocking projectiles) but my original build was 20/20/30/0/0. I recently swapped out Greatsword for Scepter/Focus due to the faceroll nature of the GS in many cases, I wanted something different that’d be fun, and fun it definately is!
I was thinkin’ about movin’ into this;
I’m not too sure about runes/sigils still. Would a sigil of Strength instead of the Earth, but it’s…AUGH! It’s so confusing! XD
Anyone? No one at all?
Hope you feel better soon sweet-stuff, we’ll be here if you need a chat or a cuddle whenever you’re ready.
Is it just me or does the ornery/pieces that make up the minstrel inside look a lot faster as well?
Hey guys, back again;
I’m currently using this build which the lovely Chaos Archangel helped me with; http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=VN;4VPV11y63V-71;9;4J-TJ-48;247B07;24oG0S;1t_MTt_MTo-FvcFDYG0;0V1-60B1G2LZR4230C-2cm
I’m just wondering, are there any Runes/Sigils that’d better fit it in terms of adding a little damage or would it be wise to move 20 points from Inspiration into Dueling for Additional Crit/Crit Damage?
Here’s what it’d look like with the Dueling taking priority;
I’ve been using Scepter in this build, and honestly? I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone cooks it up to be, a little slower yes, but it’s not the be all and end all. =o
Same ol’ story. DX
Its supposed to have “More noticeable effects”.
I do believe its a way to say not much is going to happen to it…
But how can they say that they are happy with the way every legendary looks and leave the minstrel as is?
We’ll see at the release of this update i guess!
I’d be quite happy with a bit more noticeable effects…IF THEY DIDN’T GLITCH SO OFTEN AND NOT ACTIVATTEEE!? – Crycrycry -
I was a little busy so I was unable to watch the stream, was there any note of an update for The Minstrel? =o
I think you should do what chaos inadvertently inspired me to do tonight: join spvp with a zerker amulet and a scepter with no off-hand and signet of illusions. No one will actually believe you’re just going to stand absolutely still and spam scepter attacks and when they figure it out and publicly declare you as ‘bad’ you can have a great laugh as you continue along as the mad berscepker.
Thats quite a good plan, I wish the CD on Focus #4 was near instant, just pull em everywhere for 10 minutes.
The funny thing is since the announcement, the Minstrel Precursor has pretty much skyrocketed.
Oh, and if you’re still there, what runes do you think’d work best. I’m wingin’ on Pack runes!
(Back on my phone again as I run around @ work)
The “on-clone-death” traits really are pretty fun, and it works out that nearly all of the effects are control effects not reliant on condition damage (AoE cripple, weakness, vuln)
The sword cooldown trait will make sword more fun, but Phantasmal Fury will beef up your damage. Totally your choice there.
Id say take Bountiful Interruption over iMembrane(reduced damage per clone) only because that focus pull can net you huge rewards in big fights and the added mimight tacks will also boost your reflection damage.
Looks pretty enjoyable though, lemme know how it turns out if ya decide to use it
It’s pretty much the same gear (Infact, it is) aside from 20 points being swapped into other places, i’ll keep you posted, add us ingame if you like sometime, i’ll be having a go in the near future!
(Prepping for SAB)
How about a reflect/PU build?
Zerk gear (or whichever ya want) Sword – Focus / Scepter-Torch or vice-versa.
20/0/30/20/0 - torch trait / PU, Bountiful Interrupt, Debilitating Dissipation / Medic’s Feedback (or glamour cooldowns), Warden’s Feedback
Utilities: Feedback – Decoy or Veil andd… whatever is fun for ya. I’d say Inspiration signet to share all that protection you’ll be getting.
Your role would be to shut down ranged attacks with your reflects, support allies with protection, and stutter in and out of stealth while you sweep around the battlefield doing damage. Reflect damage is based off personal stats, which is why I recommend Zerkers (or Knight’s if zerk is too squishy) to maximize damage.
Looks great! I’m totally comfortable in using Zerker gear, i’ve played Mesmer exclusively since about November and ranked up about 2000 hours with it, all throughout using Zerkers. I was fiddling in the mists application and this is what I got to so far;
EDIT; Heres your build you cooked up in the mists for future reference!
(edited by LiebnirGWAccount.5698)
So, what other idea’s we got?
Make a build that doesnt use any of the weapon traits (just build what you feel like)
Carry all those weapon combos and swap between them, finding a fun compromise.
Adapt the build to make use of the weapon traits you wish you to have so thakittens even more powerful.Problem solved.
I would go with sword/torch scepter/focus in WvW if I’m forced. Unfortunetly I cannot stop going back to the hunter-killer Greatsword. Scepter is totally worthless for killing stuff and sword wont help when your iLeap warp you 10m in the opposite direction of where you wanted to go.
Uhh…Thanks?…I think. ;~;
Since “Build Diversity” kicked in, I left my Sword/Focus + GS mesmer and swapped into a build I took my time fiddling with;
Now i’m looking for something that’ll build around the 30 chaos, yet have a bit more flare to it. Greatsword is a good weapon, and strong too, but i’m finding it a little “Eh” to use nowadays. Anyone out there got any builds that could possibly make PVE/WvW a funner experience again? I’m not asking for an entirely face-roll build. I wan’t something fun and new;
Some of the weapons sets i’m considering; (Order of Preference)
Sword/Torch + Scepter/Focus OR Sword/Focus + Scepter/Torch
Sword/Sword + Scepter/Torch
Sword/Torch + Scepter/Pistol
Sword/Torch + Staff (Trying to get over the stakitten slowness is a little un-nerving at the moment, though I bet it’d make a good weapon)
I don’t mind if i’m a little weaker than other builds, the main point here is that I want something enjoyable, long lasting. If i’m good enough I should be able to make the build work and be just as good as another build, if not better, right?
I’ll try to reply to any questions you have if you’re able to help me, thank you!

Can I use Ingame Music for Youtube Videos
in Account & Technical Support

If you are asking about using Guild Wars 2 music in videos about Guild Wars 2, and if all other use conforms to our Content Terms of Use (linked above), then you should be fine. Please note that if any element of the use breaches our User Agreement, Rules of Conduct, Naming Policy, or Content Terms of Use, then said use is prohibited.
I’d basically be using it as background music for my updates about Living Story and such, I use a template whenever I use music that I either have rights or permission to use;

Also note that Anet has the rights to ask that the use of their content is ceased. Of course, most companies have a clause like this to protect themselves, and YouTube would have to comply.
“You agree that ArenaNet has the right to require removal of our content at any time, for any reason”
It’s good that you’re giving credit where credit is due. More people should be just as considerate when using copyrighted content.
Aha, it’s alright, it’s not my content so it’s always best to leave credit, it took people a lot of time, effort, and love to make that music, least I can do is show them where to get it!
