You say you weren’t insulting me, yet you reply with a “dictionary entry”, as though I don’t know the meaning of the word.

I’ve heard people talking about the bug, so I’m not ignorant of it and your assumption is incorrect.

To put my own mind at ease, I was just now in the jp and I waited at the platform before the presents, and I watched. The only thing I could see that caused the presents to pop early was people jumping early. They were popping early and there was no one coming down the gingerbread path.

No one is required to do the jp. There are other ways of obtaining presents/drinks. Granted, those ways will take longer than the jp and will cost more, but they exist.

Furthermore, acquiring 10k drinks doesn’t have to be done during the one festival. That achievement can still be accomplished once Wintersday has ended.

Wow, ignorance? No, I’m just describing my own experiences in the JP.

I didn’t say your statement was false; I said it wasn’t a fair statement. I said this because it isn’t fair to say those running that path are hurting other players. Let’s say it really does make the presents explode early…so what? You fall, you go back and you run it again. And you lose maybe a minute or so? That’s hardly being hurt, in my opinion.

Gingerbread path: I run it all the time, and I have never had a problem when other people run it. To say that players running it are hurting other players is not a fair statement.

Giants: They don’t bother me. I play around them. I either wait (briefly) for them to get ahead of me, or I run ahead of them. If they’re on the same platform as me, I just wait until they do their jump, or whatever they’re going to do. I like to play my Norn and Charr from time to time, and the comments people make in chat are really mean. I try to be polite by letting smaller characters go ahead of me. I know not everyone does, but some of the things that have been said are uncalled for.

Invisible snowballs/snowflakes/etc: I can’t speak to this, as this has never happened to me.

Question: Do you like TP bundling?

It’s a trend I don’t care for much either. The only time I’ll purchase a bundle is if there are several items in the bundle that I want. I haven’t purchased the bandit sniper bundle because the only thing it contains that I’d like to have is the glider.

Wintersday Jumping Puzzle

I agree that it’s really annoying to have targets popping up on everybody’s heads, and it’s really distracting when you’re jumping and one appears over your own head.

That being said, Shikigami is correct that the target tool is invaluable to proving where the actual bots are located. These cheaters hide in the platforms in the starting area, mostly the snowman lane. In order to even find them you have to: a) spot their name sticking out slightly from the side of the platform, and/or, b) look at the underside of the platform where you will see a faintly glowing red circle. The easiest place to spot them from is the very edge of the gingerbread platform. Click on that circle and their name will appear at the top of your screen. Targeting them allows you to see exactly where they are, and when they teleport into the puzzle.

Being able to target a cheater helps me to verify when they arrive at the end of the puzzle as well, especially now that many of them are porting underneath the chest. In order to put my own mind at ease before I submit a report, I always target them at both the starting and ending of the jp.

Yesterday I noticed the botters have taken to targeting back the people who are targeting them. Maybe they’re hoping it will make us stop or get us reported. I say bring it on, I have nothing to hide.

Well, the easiest way to spot a teleporter would probably to see one at the end chest but with a score of 0. Physically impossible to get to the chest without getting a point unless you cheat.

No that does not work, I have already observed one of them not showing up at the ending chest at all, probably the location/port script was edited so that they not just pop up next to the chest like one video on youtube shows, but also port under the chest were they are not spotted right away, just like they are hiding under the fire to try to avoid being seen.

This exactly. I’ve waited at the end to see if the ones I saw hiding in the snowman platform showed up at the end. Although their bar in the player list went black, they never appeared at the chest. Then their bar would turn red again, indicating they were back at the beginning.

Now my concern is that, since I don’t actually see them appear at the end, will I get in trouble for reporting them? I’ve reported at least half a dozen that I’ve seen hiding in the platform. Is that enough to prove they’re using bots?

Yesterday I was able to get into the JP on the first try every time except once where it kicked me back to Divinity’s Reach. I didn’t notice a single bot at all, and I completed the puzzle 45 times.

Does this mean ArenaNet managed to stop them? Maybe, maybe not.

From what I gather on da internets:
*The botters are annoyed too many people used their program. This is probably the reason why we had so much trouble getting into the jumping puzzle; because there were so many of them.

*Something about “no more sharing the bot due to rapid deflation of sell price for the alc?”

*They’re well aware people are complaining about them on Reddit, the GW2 forums, and in the game.

*They’re annoyed about the fact people noticed them sinking into the ground at the beginning of the puzzle, and one of them wanted to know if there was a different way to set up their program to avoid that. They’re also annoyed people call them out as targets (CTRL+T while targeting them) so we can see them teleport across the map (some players posted videos on YouTube showing this).

*They seem to have decided they got enough wintersday gifts and decided to call it quits (which is probably why I didn’t see any). One bragged about making about 1,000 gold and is closer to a legendary.

*They seem worried about getting their main accounts banned.

Here is the real kicker:
They are hoping ArenaNet isn’t smart enough to track the items/gold their bot accounts passed off to their main accounts, out of fear their mains will get banned.

Edit:
*They mention something of a banwave on January 4 while poking fun at ArenaNet for taking so long to detect them while saying it was probably because they had trouble getting into the JP themselves. They posted a link to a Reddit thread where someone was talking about how much gold the bots could possibly make. There doesn’t seem to be a single post from a dev in that thread, so I have no idea where they get the Jan. 04 date for the banwave (insider information, or just a guess?).

I think it was so easy to get into the jp yesterday because it was New Year’s Eve. Lots of people getting ready for parties, going to parties, etc. The bots are not gone. I saw two of them in the jp earlier tonight and no less than three last night.

Knowing that it annoys them that people call them out as targets just entrenches my determination to do just that! I’m also reporting every one of them I see, for all the good it may do.

Wintersday JP Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Little Leota.5849

I was doing the JP a little while ago and people were arguing in the map chat. Mostly it was about large sized characters doing the JP, but also someone said something about not pre-jumping because it messes it up for others. I’ve seen people doing this, but I don’t see how it messes it up for others. I’ve jumped behind someone who pre-jumped and it didn’t mess anything up for me. Am I missing something?

Also, why are there sometimes targets over people’s heads? It’s very distracting to me.

I’ve searched for the answers to these questions and haven’t been able to find anything, so if this has already been covered, I apologize.

Gaile, thank you for letting us know that these incidents are being reviewed. When it comes to spoilers, I think a month after the initial release is a fair amount of time to expect people to refrain from posting spoilers in local and map chat. I would include the forums as well, as I happened to have had a major point of the movie spoiled for me right here, in a thread that happened to be about Wintersday. It was so appallingly obvious that it was intentional too. Fortunately it was remedied, but I can’t unread what I read.

I agree with what so many others here have said: posting spoilers with the intent to cause harm is what we find so disagreeable. We should not have to avoid local and/or map chat in order to feel comfortable that something we find interesting will not be spoiled for us. Those who want to talk about it have plenty of “private” options where they can discuss it without ruining the surprise for others. It’s common courtesy and common sense.

The Royal Order of Fun Lunatics [ROFL] is recruiting members, new or veteran. We created the guild just 4 months ago, so it’s still quite small and fairly new. My husband and I are the founders, and we’ve been playing Guild Wars since Guild Wars 1. We started out Guild Wars 2 when it was beta, but the way the new systems worked was pretty overwhelming to us. Then we had rl things happen, so we didn’t play for a couple of years. We just started playing again this past April, and we love it now!

Our guild is casual PvE, but a couple of us have gotten our feet wet in PvP and even a tiny bit of WvW. We’re working on getting our guild hall, and we do weekly missions on Sundays at 1:00 PM MST.

I have a few characters that are lower level (under 30), so I’d be happy to level them along with you. I’m not just about the end-game.

We have a website at http://roflguild.shivtr.com/ where you can learn more about us, and apply to join if you’d like.

My husband and I have a new guild we’re trying to build up. We’ve been playing since Guild Wars 1, but we had a similar experience to yours when Guild Wars 2 came along. We felt pretty overwhelmed too! It does get easier to understand as you play, but it’s good to have people who can help you too.

Our guild is the Royal Order of Fun Lunatics [ROFL]. We’re on Henge of Denravi, but until we get into WvW that won’t be an issue. We do mostly PvE, but a couple of us have gotten our feet wet in PvP as well. We’re a casual guild and very small at the moment. We welcome all levels of players, whether new or veteran. We’re currently working on getting a guild hall. Also, we do guild missions on Sundays at 1:00 PM MST.

We have a website you can visit at http://roflguild.shivtr.com/ to learn more about us. An application to join us is on the website as well. You can also mail or whisper me in-game if you have any questions. Little Leota.5849

Best of luck to you in your search for a guild home!

Then you should have bought captains airship pass, problem fixed. I have both and like both, but airship is better on 3 things for me:

Acitity npc
The port locations are in Cities, but near their exit (super easy to immediately exit city), Royal terrace use center travel points.
Npc’s grouped up better
And perhaps black lion npc (royal doesnt have)

Royal terrace has more flavor though putting you in a city. Especially cause there are often Wintersday and other events there.

Royal Terrace does have a black lion npc

We are the Royal Order of Fun Lunatics [ROFL].

We are a small, casual guild located on Henge of Denravi. Our focus is primarily PvE, and a couple of us have played a little bit in PvP. We may add WvW if/when there is interest in doing that.

We want to build a community of friends who are happy to support and encourage each other. We’re an adult guild (18+), and we welcome newcomers and veterans alike. We currently have 4 members, and we’d like to eventually have around 30 to 50 members at most.

As our name says, our guild is about having fun! It’s nice to win, but we believe the fun is in the adventure and the experiences along the way. We don’t attack, embarrass, or hassle people about their gear or stats. We just hope everyone will do the best they can and have a good time.

We don’t have any rep requirement for members below officer level, but we hope those who join us will want to represent as often as possible. All leadership ranks require 100% representation (except for a personal guild bank), and we do require all members to represent the guild during our missions and activities.

We’re based in the U.S. in the Mountain Time Zone, but players from any server or time zone are welcome to apply to join us. On weekdays we’re active at different times throughout the day. Evenings and weekends are more active, and we do weekly Guild Missions on Sundays at 1:00 PM MST (8:00 PM GMT).

We currently have a Guild Vault, Armorer, and Weaponsmith, and we’re doing our best to claim our guild hall. We use TeamSpeak 3 and have our own server.

Some of our goals and vision for the guild’s future include: having fun guild activities – such as lotteries, games, parties and celebrations; building up our guild hall; and eventually, forming groups for raids, fractals, dungeons and world bosses.

If we sound like the sort of guild you’re looking for, and if you’d like to be a part of helping us grow, please visit our website at roflguild.shivtr.com

If you have any questions you can contact the guild leaders, Little Leota.5849 or cyberfew.2054, via in-game mail.

Triple Trouble Is Incredibly Frustrating

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Little Leota.5849

I’ve tried TT a couple of times and was very disappointed. I’ll have to watch for these guilds mentioned, because my experience left a very bad taste in my mouth for this boss. There was one person with a commander tag who was leading people on a wild goose chase and then laughing about it. Other than that, there was no one to give instructions; just people griping about all the “noobs messing everything up”. The whole thing was insanely disorganized, strung out, spread out, and needless to say, failed miserably.

I understand your frustration, OP. My problem though, so far, is not with the bosses but with the irritating, continual talking. Talk to this person, examine this, talk to that person, examine that. Agh! I enjoy storylines, I really do. But the talking parts could be shortened sooo much if they would have just used cuts-scenes. Of course, that would be more expensive to produce, so instead we get ‘talk here, talk there, talk talk everywhere’! For me, the bosses actually break up the monotony! It’s like, ‘finally, something to DO’!

I don’t regret buying it because I wanted to know who these “new” allies are in HoT, and I figured this would give me a good idea, as well as filling in the gaps between the end of GW2 personal story and HoT. But I sure am tired of all the talking! lol

Is there any point discussing the 250 limit on these slots? It’s great to have a dedicated slot for something but when it hits 250, what then? Is 250 a technical limit or an economic one? Could it ever be raised to 999 for example?

Sure you can…by purchasing the storage expansions with gems in the gemstore=/

I have purchased the storage expansion, so I can store up to 500 of each store-able item. It’s still not enough. I love the suggestion to raise it to 999! I would even buy another store expansion to be able to do so!

+1 to all of the suggestions in this thread thus far! We’re drowning in mats!!!

You can purchase that expansion 3 times, for a total of 1000.

Edit: as per a previous post I just verified, you can now expand it to 1500.

Somehow I missed this lol. I’m so happy to know it can be expanded! Thanks for the info!

Had a great time with the Halloween Festival! I always do. I look forward to it every year, three years now. Thank you for doing this festival. I got lots o loot, had fun with all of it. Now time to store my corn, make my recipes, bank all my ingredients and save them up for next year like I always do. Ready to start out the next one next year with stashed supplies Oh, I liked it so much I went ahead and bought HoT. I was on the fence about it, but I was having so much fun I just wanted to go on to the next level. One adventure led to another. Twas a Happy Halloween!!

Laurie, I really enjoyed your post! It made me think of how, at harvest time when all the work is done, we store up our supplies, cook delicious foods, and enjoy the warmth of hearth and home during winter’s chill while looking forward to the coming year.

I loved the Halloween event too! It seemed like it went by so quickly, and I’m already excited for next year. Now, though, I have a jungle to explore and a guild to work on, and Wintersday to look forward too!

This is the first year I’ve experienced the Halloween Festival, although I’ve had GW2 since beta, and I’m having a blast! I love the look and sounds of Lion’s Arch, and the activities are so much fun! I don’t mind not getting the mastery points, as there will be time for those later. Just had the best time in the Labyrinth! I was part of a zerg with a great commander (wish I would have noted his or her name), and there was even an ArenaNet employee with us (again, I was so immersed in playing I failed to note his or her name), but I just want to say to the commander and to ArenaNet, it was awesome!

Yep, for me, mastery points will still be there to achieve when Halloween is over.

Right, everyone gets a glider when they do the mastery. The pre-purchase skin is just a fancier looking one with green energy trails.

Oh okay. for some reason I’d been under the impression we wouldn’t be able to glide without the skin. I’m still just so glad to know it’s truly a “skin” and not something needed in order to glide. I’m doing my happy dance!

I had the same concern, having also consumed my glider skin right after I pre-ordered. I am SO happy to let you know that I was playing tonight and as soon as I got the glider mastery filled (the first bar!), I was able to glide! At first I didn’t even know what it was. I saw this whitish thing when my character jumped and thought it was an enemy of some sort. Then it did it again and I sort of…glided!!! I immediately found a few places to try jumping from, and out came these lovely whitish gliding wings! So, even if you consumed your glider skin before the beta, you’re okay!
