How ’bout an item that combines all these basic transmutation stones into transmutation crystals. You can even make it so 5 transmutation stones make 1 transmutation crystal. These things are clogging my bank account, and it feels wrong throwing them away.

Eh I don’t think so. Look what happened to Destiny’s Edge after Snaff died, and Snaff’s death was not the result of anything to do with his own ego. If you look at what Snaff DID it shows that Asura are very generous considering how far they’re technology surpasses every other races.

Snaff single handedly brought Kralkatoric to the ground, and commanded the Dragons basic bodily functions like breathing, and flapping wings to stop. Kralkatoric’s minions overwhelmed them, and killed Snaff in extreme desperation hugely in part due to Logan, but not entirely Logan’s fault. Logan lost big time losing Snaff, and his older brother, but the guy simply can’t be in two places at once.

The extinction of Bookahs

in Asura

Posted by: Lord Erik.6903

Lord Erik.6903

The real answer, is most likely down to making homogeneous dialogue.

The term bookah DOES occasionally arise between asura NPC/human NPC interactions, but when it’s Asura NPC/player character, due to the possibility of the player also being an asura they have to use more generalised terms.

This goes even further when you realise that all the playable races have the EXACT same dialogue in the story beyond their personal story; which is why the Charr player character suddenly starts acting like a wimp, the Asura player character loses their flowery egomaniacal speech, the Norn player’s balls shrivvel and drop off etc

Speaking of which I was in Hoelbrak on my human thief, and right outside the cave to the Sons of Svanirs den there was a Norn complimenting me on how well I did in the great hunt, and that apparently he won a whole bunch of money by betting on me.

I was just doing research into what the ingredients are for this, and came upon a thread about giving this recipe out isn’t fair, because of etc, etc.

Anyway on to the main point. I really enjoy the exclusive aspect of this game like this recipe. In face I wish there where more like it. I per-ordered the collectors edition before launch. I spent $150 dollars for it. The mistfire wolf was the coolest thing to me, and it felt exclusive like a show of fandom. Then Anet opened it up so the deluxe edition could give it to you at least I believe it was the Mistfire Wolf, but it could have been the mini Rytlock, anyway they botched it all up in my opinion, but this is the first I’ve ever mentioned it. How do you think I felt about that? Factions had the Kuunavang Dragon mini, Nightfall had the mini Varish. I got the standard GW Factions and then went, and bought the Factions collectors edition to add it to my existing account just for the Ritualist, and Assassin dance. That means I don’t have 2 GW factions accounts it means I spent $100 for a special dance, and happy to do so.

The next thing I’ve been thinking about is the weapons tickets, and minis from gem store chest. When you’ve been playing this game as long as I have you start to run out of room for this stuff. I can have only 1 set of weapons on at a time, and same for armor, and I’m running out of weapons with different stats to reskin. There’s going to be plenty of opportunity’s in the future for a chance at something exclusive.

There are things I wish I had gotten like the great sword chainsaw skin, but I’ve got plenty of good looking gear.

The only thing I personally wish Anet would do is next Holloween,
and Wintersday they add an infant mode like in Super Adventure Box to the Mad Kings Clock Tower, and Winter Wonderland. They can keep the Mad Kings Slippers I just want the achievement. I can still hear it now…Tick Tock…The mouse ran up the clock…Time swallowed it whole…Tail and all.

Yes, bad players in this game are so overwhelmingly numerous and catered for, that good players are having a bad time, just because they are good.

You don’t seem to play this game much. You prolly don’t know what it’s like to carry a team do you? Or have to be the first to run in EVERY time, because your team wants a meat shield; not so they can dps, but to see how long they can last.

ive got no issue with elitism, whats wrong with having pride if youre good at something but if its 2 out of 14 matches you win then you are either extremely unlucky or its something your doing, why dont you put together a team?

You want to talk about luck in a game with these RNG’s?

I’m really thinking of quitting this game. I’m so tired of all the bugs, the cheeseheads exploiting them, and inexperience people who look like they just started playing video games, because they’ve become popular.

I’m also tired of being the best person on a losing team in pvp. Specifically in a tourny match. To finish a match to find out the opponent had average players, and I had to run around with a bunch of lvl 1’s is infuriating. I’d like to be able to pug with decent ppl rather than people who just joined the game, and think it would be fun to play in hard mode, and loss there minds, and wander aimlessly when they get ganked and curb-stomped.

It’s not just once in a while ether. Out of at least 15 tourny matchs today I won at least 2 of them. First thing people say is its my skills. Sorry that’s not the case. When I down 2 rangers with a rifle with the crackshot trait, and they have a buddy come help rez, and the mes next to me runs away there’s something wrong. Or if I’m bunkering a cap point, and I’ve got at least 3 of the enemy team on my guard, we don’t have any other cap points, or even have swords on them then that tells me my teammates are playing with the enemy out in the middle of nowhere. Are people watching porn while they play this game? They don’t seem to be paying attention.

To be a seasoned player is hard in this game. Being a rookie is fine, but I’m absolutely burned out on teaching, and my patience is all but spent, and that there are so many of them.

I find myself becoming very viscous, and unsportsmanlike with this. To be doing the right thing, but losing because of team mates, and being taunted by the opponent. It is a major blow to my pride. I have the Champion of the Gods title, and ppl may not think it, but that makes me a huge target for ppl who want to test themselves.

In GW1 I calculated my total time and it’s well over a solid year of my life playing GW. GW2 is no different. I’ve played at least 8 hours a day every day sense 3 days before launch. I still get a thrill out of this game, but people really hinder that.

I can’t even think to say anymore. I’m just not having fun anymore.

Something I’ve been thinking just like most people probably do; Can Humans and Norn have offspring?

i imagine they could. After all in GW1 i remember doing a quest where my warrior was going to merry a Norn girl, but that didn’t go well because I killed a wurm without her. I’m not sure if that quest was available for female characters, or what there quest was like or if they even had one like it.

Anyway they both virtually look the same, and I imagine it would spark some prejudice with terms like “halfbreeds”. It seems like Lions Arch though would be the place you’d see it considering it’s a melting pot of race.

I also wonder if they did have offspring would they be sterile? Like a mule mating with a horse to have a donkey, or a tiger and a lion having a Liger.

If they could have offspring we could call them Normans. : )

^ Because 100 Blades has been proven many times over to be the strongest DPS we have?
Every build and weapon setup will work in PvE, its that easy, the only difference is the Greatsword wielders will be dishing out a lot more damage than you are. Sword has a nice leap but staying on top of your target and keeping them locked down is rarely an issue here. From the sounds of it you’re not in Berserker’s gear either so your damage must be very sub-par, and considering damage is our only job, you’re not making a very good warrior there…. Err… No offence.

I never said I don’t use zerker, but it’s a hybrid, and im saying ppl don’t think about how when they put 20 points in arms and they’re primary is a GS that it’s gonna do much. Perception comes with Arms but it also has condition dmg which is laughable with a GS.

Ur better off getting your crit chance else where, and inveting at least 10 of those points in tactics for leg specialist, and the other 10 in discipline. Blade Trail is the most under used GS skill, and ppl don’t think to improve it to immobilize someone for over a second depending on ur condition duration, plus after immobilized they’re crippled. I’ve tried my GS build out and it does rule. but the condition dmg with a sword is insane, and often not taken into account with direct dmg.

I’m aware that you can cut the CD on GS through arms, but with how short the CD is on GS skills ppl must be morons to think 20% reduced time is gonna take anything worth while away. The might is really the best part of that trait. Watching a warrior use 100b in pvp is fun for me because i love to shield bash or pommel strike them when they’re dumb enough not to have any stability, or disable they’re opponent. They must think ppl are stupid if they’re gonna sit there and take it.

I also would prefer to be a good warrior without using a GS. There’s no challenge with a GS.

The Immobolize is applied only in the beginning of the cast and at no time anywhere else. I don’t stack the bleeds at all because it’s actually LESS DPS than just auto attacking for higher damage and stacking bleeds.

I can definitely see that. It all depends on what your stats are and when GS is your primary there isn’t any practical point to have anything in condition dmg.

Lord Erik.6903

You won’t match a guard, but you can do somethings to help you out.

First off you need to put 30 in tactics.
From there you should look at ether choosing from banners, or shouts.
if you choose banners then trait out with cutting the CD on them & increasing they’re radius, and having them apply regeneration.
When using banners don’t use them all at once. It’s best to use your offensive banners at the start, and when your team is getting weary use your defensive banners.

If you choose shouts you need to cut the CD on shouts, have shouts heal, and lastly you would do very well to use superior soldier runes to remove conditions with each shout. Do not use “Fear Me!”, use “shake it off!”, “On My Mark!”, and "For Great Justice. A lot of ppl don’t like shout heal warriors, but that’s because ppl don’t use them very well.

You should also invest in the defense trait for one because you get survivability, but two so you can heal more when rezing or shouting.

You should also get cleric, passion, etc trinkets so you heal more. I would use Shaman for reasons I’ll soon explain.

Next your primary weapon is going to be ether a rifle or a bow, with secondary ideally being a mace and shield for survivability and CC. If you use a rifle you need to have your adept trait set to leg specialist, because you can help support your group a lot more if your target can’t get to you in the first place. If you choose a bow then that’s why you want to use shaman trickets, because of the healing, toughness, and most importantly for use with a bow condition DMG. Bow has a lot of burning which in it’s self is the highest DoT condition in the game, but it doesn’t tick down as fast as bleeding, or poison.

Lastly I would suggest you do not melee unless you are attacked in melee range.

That’s pretty much the best you can do give or take a couple of micro-manageable things.

In the video you didn’t look like you where stacking the bleeds that come with flurry, and it looked as though immobilize didn’t last as long as it does on my warrior. I don’t remember exactly at this moment, but I think immobilize is reapplied after a brief period of time, but more than likely it’s ’cause I usually run with a lot in strength which increases condition duration which really comes in handy for every condition really.

PvE I prefer sword/shield & longbow or rifle. GS is fun, but I don’t see how most warriors it seems only use GS. I’d prolly use it more if I weren’t aiming for slayer achievements.

PvP I like sword/shield, mace/shield, mace/mace, rifle, bow. Don’t use axe, hammer, or GS much, but I’m having fun with my current sword/shield w/ bow setup atm. I have put a build together for future use with a GS where I won’t be immobilized, and I can get hundred blades off. It’s not a typical build, and I don’t see why so many warriors don’t think past berserker.

WvW I use sword/shield & rifle atm or bow if im defending a tower. It’s the same as my PvE build. With my gear it doesn’t matter. I do lvl 28 fracs daily and wvw is like killing rabbits. I have been playing sense first open beta though.

Elder Dragons unspoken agreement.

in Lore

Posted by: Lord Erik.6903

Lord Erik.6903

I suspect that the Elder Dragons don’t face each other because they’re not ready to. They’ve been spending hundreds of years building up their forces.

The deep sea dragon has been pushing karka out for a while, it’s not just something new because of Zhaitan’s death – it’s just that the karka had somewhere to go now that Zhaitan died.

Also, we know for a fact that the Elder Dragons are hostile. We’ve been explicitly told that their minions fight each other, so all six Elder Dragons working for some “supreme Elder Dragon” doesn’t fit. Which is, imo, a good thing because quite frankly, the concept of always having to face a larger threat is a terrible one.

Also, you’re misunderstanding something about the difference of GW1 and GW2’s end boss fights. In GW1, you’re right – it was “you” (as part of a small group of heroes) who killed Khilbron, Shiro, Abaddon, and the Great Destroyer (though I’d say your reaction was a bit far fetched, since threat wise Shiro and Khilbron were on par, as were Abaddon and the Great Destroyer (well, believed to be at the very least). In GW2, however, you’re wrong. It’s not “you” who killed Zhaitan, nor is it “you and four others.” It’s “the entire united forces of Tyria known as the Pact, aided by Destiny’s Edge and led by you.”

When you face the Ancient Karka and Molten Alliance, it’s not the Pact who killed Zhaitan fighting them. It’s a group of adventurers/commander of the Pact working with local forces.

I do not see how the Elder Dragons would be building up they’re forces to fight each other only to go dormant after all of the worlds magic has been consumed only to wait for it to replenish itself. This is not the first time the Elder Dragons have risen. The last time was roughly around the same time the Giganticus Lupicus went extinct. None of the Elder Dragons where destroyed by each other by the fact they still exist today. Unless of course Elder Dragons where killed that we do not know about which of course there is no evidence of, and doesn’t seem likely given each Elder Dragon has a territory roughly the same as all of the others.

That may be the reason Elder Dragons minions fight each other is because they’re minions wander into another Elder Dragons territory. I was reading lore about the Norn and Char in GW1 which mentioned they left each other more or less alone unless they wondered into the others territory which is roughly the same idea of Elder Dragons minions not wondering into places where they are not suppose to go, because they are trespassing. Also minions fighting each other on small scale battles isn’t anything new. It’s been shown that the minions of the same Elder Dragon will fight each other if the link between them, and they’re leader ie the Elder Dragon Champion is severed. Evidence of this comes from Edge of Destiny when Destiny’s Edge killed Jormag’s champion, Zhaitans champion Morgus Lethe, and Primordius’s champion the Destroyer of Life. Also it has been shown that the Elder Dragons care nothing for they’re minions as evidence of Kralkatorrik wiping out scores of his own minions, and killing Glint his former champion.

I have also never seen Elder Dragon minions fight each other, or heard of it. I would like to see a reference to this please, so I can correct myself, or see if there are extenuating circumstances.

Elder Dragons unspoken agreement.

in Lore

Posted by: Lord Erik.6903

Lord Erik.6903

I’ve been thinking about the Elder Dragons lust for magic, and how they devour anything, and everything thing; however with seemingly one enormous exception: they do not fight each other. In a habitat from what I know is there is always with no exceptions that come to MY mind one super predator.

The Elder Dragons are without a doubt super predators if not “divine predators”, because of they’re deity like, or even rather deity surpassing powers. So what keeps them from fighting each other when each has the largest cache of magic in Tyria? It seems to me more than likely, because if they did there would be nothing left. Similar to nuclear annihilation. Despite the endless, and agonizingly maddening thirst they have for power is, they also without a doubt have the willpower, and intelligence to not fight each other.

Even after Zhaitan’s defeat they did not rush to fill the vacuum of power, because to do so would risk war between the dragons. One thing does seem in a way to offset this, which is shortly after Zhaitan’s fall the dragon in the Unending Ocean stirred driving the Karka inland, which is probably the closest dragon to Orr unless the dragon is speculatively farther away in the unending ocean than it may appear in which case the Unending Ocean Dragons rise may just be coincidental.

The Elder Dragon of the Unending Ocean after all had it’s territory as well as zhaitan did before Zhaitan’s fall which probably has roughly the same distance as every other Elder Dragon has to each other.

One thing that has come to mind which is a bit farfetched I will admit, but something I fantasize about is that like each Elder Dragon has it’s own champion, minions, and extensions of themselves, maybe the Elder Dragons themselves are an extension of a Supreme Elder Dragon.

Nothings written in stone yet, but I like the idea of a Supreme Elder Dragon living in The Mists with Elder Dragon Generals on different worlds throughout The Mists siphoning magic to a Supreme Dragon like Lord. My imagination takes it farther by having the six gods involved fighting this Dragon God in the Mists which is why we haven’t seen hide nor hair of them.

It’s already widely know that the Mists are not just one thing. They are everything including the space between spaces. They are The Borderlands, Eternal Battleground, Fissure of Woe, Underworld, Realm of Torment, The Hall of Heros, etc.

I’ve always wondered what the six gods really look like aside from Kormir. I’ve seen they’re avatars in GW1, but that seems to pretty much be just a messenger other than Kormir who I can see making personal visits to her personal champions. Anyway it would be cool to meet them, and fight along side them. Let Malchor be at peace not being the only one to carry the burden of what the gods really are like.

I found myself in GW1 thinking “Shiro won’t be a big deal I beat the Lich.” “Abbadon? Why not I’ve already saved two continents.” “Great Destroyer? Pfff I’ve beaten a god.”
The same thing is happening now “I killed Zhaitan therefore the Ancient Karka, and Molten Alliance should kill themselves in my presence!”

I’m just saying it would raise the bar even higher.

It would also be an extremely large step towards feeling like a real hero, and that you are the hope. Something that would truly find you a place in The Hall of Heros.

I can see the Pale Tree being a minion of the Jungle Dragon, and breaking from it’s will like Glint did, but the Pale Tree has helped to stopped Zhaitan which does not coincide with the Elder Dragons fighting each other. I’m just aiming for at least 50% crit chance with my traits having about 10 points in my precision trait which is +100 precision, and armor (not including trinkets) focused on other stats. In a nutshell I’m trying to reach 50% crit chance through trinkets alone, and trinkets that don’t have condition dmg, or MF.

I’ve been doing crab toss for a good few hours, and I’ve noticed some problems. First off my skills lag really bad, and when I’m about to hit another player they rubber-band away. Second is the veteran Karkas. Several times I’ve been wiped 3 times in a row by all veterans. There should be some 3 second invulnerability after a wipe so it doesn’t feel like I’m being picked on. It also seems like the Karkas should be more inclined to go after the one carrying the crab. One last thought, and this is for the players is if you’ve gotten crabtacular before it would be nice if you’d let others get it. I’m assuming to get it you need to be the one holding the crab at the end of the match.

Speculation of the Evolution of Sylvari

Okay I may rush this, because I have GW2 going in the back, and I really wanna play just like every other moment in time, but some questions are really eating at me.

I’ve been thinking of the possibility’s of the biology of the Sylvari. For one they are born from a hive mind of sorts of collective knowledge that is expanding every moment. From what I have gathered once they are born they are not completely cut off from the dream ether. The best example I can give is Killeen from the Ghosts of Ascalon book mentioning she can still tap in to The Dream through a sort of meditation. Also from Caithe calling to The Mother Tree in Edge of Destiny for help hundreds of miles from The Grove.

With that said every Sylvari aside seemingly from The Nightmare Court (who I can easily see profiting from it’s information for the sake of espionage) is bound to each other, and it’s vast resources.

It gets me thinking that with that much information compiling every moment the Sylvari will become a very wise race very quickly despite the fact that they are only 25 years old at this point in the game. Not only that, but if they are like most other trees they’re natural lifespan may be hundreds of years old which is a very potent combination of information coupled with experience making them wiser still. Many of these characteristics are very similar to how Elven races are portrayed as old and wise in many fantasy series.

Other thoughts I have are reproduction. We know that they all come from The Mother Tree, and the best we can tell none can seemingly reproduce (Yet!), but when you think about it if they can live hundreds of years then 25 wouldn’t even make them teenagers which is too young to reproduce. When a tree produces fruit it’s intent is for that fruit to travel as far away as possible whether by wind, or animals eating and wandering miles away where they do they’re business we all know they do. In fact that’s why fruit (in a lot of peoples opinions) is so good, because it’s meant to attract something to eat it and carry the seeds elsewhere. Truth be told a Sylvari may reach a gestation period if they live long enough, maybe if they become wise enough, maybe The Mother Tree has to give a blessing of sorts to allow them to become Mother or Father Trees themselves.

I can also see a pair of Sylvari one male, and one female germinating each other oddly enough my imagination leads me to think through they’re hair which seems to me where pollen would grow kinda like natural oils grow in our own hair, but also like it does in flowers where things like bees, butterfly’s, and humming birds can get at nectar. I can easily see two sylvari intimately rubbing they’re heads together kinda like an escamo kiss.

We also know that Sylvari don’t bite the dust after they finish they’re Wyld Hunt which is seemingly to many of them what they where made for just take Trahearne for example after you kill Zhaitan.

I can also picture a Sylvari rooting itself to the ground, and metamorphosing into a tree to become like The Mother Tree. It comes to mind though that this would happen to a Sylvari if they ascended kinda like in GW1. A lot of this seems to come to mind because I see some similarity between GW, and a Scifi series called Stargate. Mainly because of ascention, and Asura gates, but that’s another story.

Anyway guys those are just some thoughts that come to mind, but I gotta cut it short ‘cause I just got DCed in game, and I wanna play GW2. I’ll see you all on the other side!

P.S. it’s odd that the forum spellchecker doesn’t recognize names like Sylvari, Asura, or Ascalon.
