I’ll still be PvPing even after I hit rank 80, I never expected to hit rank 80 ever in the lifetime of GW2 since I only play like 2 hours a day, so whats the difference now? If your only incentive for playing PvP was the ridiculous rank grind, then perhaps you should play a game like Aion

This and a lot of posts are just different angles to attack the injustice of autoleveling r55+ to r80.

I have empathy with the outrage and simply put as you get a small rank increase for losing every match you play, an unemployed monkey trained to join up a character will eventually reach r80.

Hard Fact : rank = time. Bad players more time and good players less time. Therefore if you have more time, say you dont earn a living or at school you will have a higher rank than the best pvper who can only play 1 hour a week.

So by all means get upset at the amount of time those players have:

Pessimistic view : Given away to their competitors
Optimistic View : Gifted to their fellow players.

Its depressing I know but it really is a measure of how much time you can play in the current system. I would let it go and save yourself some high blood pressure.

EDIT: reading around the initial point of would you take a r70 over an r40 is the pvp equivalent of the pve filter of 5K AP only groups. Its gambling but limited your losses. In my experience the people who advertise such groups/restrictions are poor players that need better players to help them through.

those who want their skills displayed wait for the ladder like i told my friends, this current pvp format is un rewarding and doesnt show skills rather than time spent grinding. thats why i focus my whole time in pvp getting all the 200 wins needed for every champion titles, also that i can get the AP.

some of the skilled players i know like supcutie not even rank 70, and all the rank 70 players in this game pale in comparison to him. base on this stupid argument that only stupid rank farmers deserve to be rank 80 lol. in gw1 i only reach rank 10 (tiger) because of the long grind to reach top rank and its not fun to grind. all my friends move on, better games came out. at the end how many rank 15 are there? maybe 5-10? after how many years? 4? when all players have moved on this elite players didnt get recognized by the community coz the community is gone. incase of gw2, when the ladder implemented you will have the recognition you want w/o worrying bout rank finihser the only way ou can show of now players will see it your play style and armor you wear.

When you first saw GW2 rank system you really thought that it will take more than 2 years for people to get max rank?
Few months ago everyone with above average rank was called skyhammer farmer now it suddenly means that player is skilled and deserves special reward?
You farmed your rank knowing that you get no rewards for it and that its just number on your PVP panel, guess what? Nothing will change after patch.

1.5 years of casual play is pretty logical to get max rank even if you are korean grinding mmo fan.
All “top” players have quitted already like 5 times now? Does that make first page of leaderboards empty? No.
When really skilled players quit the game i feel abit sad, but when people who just play alot quit? Nope not even slight change in emotions.

you might think this is funny, but im sure someone who havent even set foot in pvp can kill any of you. I seen WvW player better than any rank 70+ i know. just because they dont grind so much rank points a day doesnt mean your better than them, it just mean you spend more time in pvp than any game modes.

The difference with sPvP and WvW is the gear. People in WvW get carried a-lot by stat differences. You can put two good players, but if one has full ascended and some legendary vs someone with green armor and rare weapons, obviously the person with the full ascended will have an advantage including the food bonuses you get. Put them in a balanced setting, and that changes. Nokitten on WvW players, I agree some of them are really good, but majority of them aren’t too great. I do PvE alot as well and probably one of the few people who have invested time into both as Rank 71, 2 legendaries, map completion atleast nearly 4 times, and over 8k tourney games played. I just hate being screwed over along with the rest of the others, but nothing much we can do. Like I said in the other posts, I don’t mind them making it easier to get to 80, I just don’t like how people who bought the game 2 months ago can reach 80 too. Who knows we might get rewarded differently, we’ll just have to see.

i know you marvin played the game like it suppose to be, rank71+ legandaries map completion, i have friends that are rank 70+ like super mang jose who i know since gw1 , avoa, or ostrich from isle of janthir who i see in the mist a lot. some players mistaken me for saying im better than them which im not. this is just a game if they claim to be better than others so be it, its your only oppinion but dont expect others to agree with you.

ok guys how many rank 70+ do we have now in pvp? ill guestimate around 20 and that maybe exagerating by a lot. thats a minority even in a really small pvp community we have. your saying that when 15k players who play pvp, harcore or casual who likes the changes have to listen what the 20 rank70+ players want? gtfo

Let me try to put this in perspective for you. I’ve played this game, /age’d, for 5,000 hours. Minus afk and PvE/WvW time I’d guess that’s about 4,000 hours. Four thousand kittening hours in PvP. That’s almost six months IN GAME. I’d guess that I could have every class leveled to 80 with at least 10 legendarys in the amount of time I’ve played this game’s pvp.

If you want your free dragon emote then so be it, I sure as kitten can’t change it, nor do I even care. I find it shameful though that there will be no carrot on the end of the stick for those that do (or did) actually care. I feel even worse for those that spent even a second grinding rank after rank 55.

Just have a little respect for those like myself who are getting screwed. No retroactive rewards, no extra title for hitting rank 70 before it was free, no rewards after hitting rank 80. I have legit never even SEEN one of those new reward chests and I never will. I honestly don’t give a flying kitten that my time spent playing PvP won’t be rewarded at the end of the day. Phoenix was cool for the exclusivity, sure, and it was great for kittening too.

i dont really care if they make r55+ dragons or not… i enjoy all the game modes. i played 2.6k hours of both pve and pvp combined, did 5 map completion and 4 legendaries, full ascended gear. im not rank 55 i wont be a dragon and sure as hell i like shark finihser better than phoenix. but like i said your a minority of minorities in pvp community. maybe who knows you guys who are r70+ will get precursor in your bag of goodies when you reach r80.

I trasmuted my ascended gear with the look of cultural norn pieces gear i mean lets be honest the ascended armors look like pile of rubish, anyways do i have to split it back to unlock the ascended armor skin? also i have emperor title is that mean i get to unlock all the cultual armor in the game even though i dont posses them anymore?

pistol whip is a joke nub thief used those and i laugh when they cant kill me, i play support ele. although decap engi is really annoying if you have good roamer u can kill him before he can decap home against good bunker with stability.

i should also want to suggest if havent already to have your rating or MMR whatever u want to call it be tied to your class or profession your playing, to have a better example why is this good. i always play bunker build, but everyone knows its the most boring class but also one that carries the match since this is a conquest type pvp. one of my friend message me recently and said what happen to your leaderboard rating? i said why? he said you used to be in top 50 what happen? to which i replied i started not to care about winning and just play class i enjoy, started to play diff. builds.

TLDR: have MMR tied to each prof/class we play and there should also be unrated matches!

wow i agree with the OP, leaderboard in soloQ should really be removed, so those who want leaderboard status LOL will stick to tpvp this in return will removed all the toxic tpvp players from playing soloQ who trashtalk newbies who makes them giveup on pvp hence our crappy community numbers.

hotjoin like he said should be removed! also skyhammer enough have been said bout that map. but i do like the idea of ladder system like in Starcraft2. i think this suggestions are good for saving this failed system in pvp.

i consider myself casual pver , casual pvper but harcore gw2 player lol. did map completion 5 times going on 6 have 4 legendaries 8 lvl 80 etc… sucks to see that pvp is getting the short stick but i think the game is made to be enjoyed both sides not just pve or pvp but i do understand that others lean to playing one than other. just wish Anet consentrate on one aspect of the game them move on to another like we going to do this pve LS for a month then all resource switch to pvp for a month and so on. this way you are updating both aspect of the game and making the game even stronger and better in a lot of ways. all u do seems like is to increase rank gain in pvp and give pve items along with crappy pvp chest. but yeah although now i just login to do dailys or monthlys i still love gw2, but playing other games atm like DCUO or sins of the solar empire
