So why is WvW so boring, what am I missing?

I’ve been entering WvW and I never see anything going on. I see a battle on the map, spend 10 minutes running there and its gone. No one in sight. There is another one, run for 10min, nada.

None of the waypoins work because they are contested. So I run to one. No one around.

What gives…

I’ve never really been much of a pvper but being bored stiff with Wow’s expac, and now LOTRO’s expac I thought I’d give this game a try.. the PVE is boring the hell out of me so where is the PVP?

I’ve spent 2 nights during peak checking out WvW and its been a yawnfest.

WPvP is hit and miss just like any game, First you want to make sure you on a server that is highly activive in WPvP but even then one one side is getting crushed they will stop showing up at times.

I don’t think its quite as simple as you make it out to be. For example, you have some dyes that are “metallic” others that are “natural leather” and yet more that are in the “vibrant” category.

I think the game’s rendering engine renders things differently based on the kind of material it is supposed to be rendering, and that in turn changes the way it renders a particular colour as well.

In other words, the same yellow is going to be brighter on a shiny surface compared to a dull surface.

While you have a point, this doesn’t explain why one color can look like various shades on different pieces of armor from the same set.

Also, some colors just blatantly don’t look like the colors that they’re previewed to be, which can be a huge pain in the butt when you’re shopping for them on the TP. The Midnight Red that I recently got for my necromancer looked reddish black on her last set of gear as it’s supposed to, but on her new set it’s a lot brighter than the preview would indicate.

It also doesn’t explain why the developers thought it was a good idea to grant a “gradient” effect to some armor, making the colors you come up with a total crapshoot.

There are more textures then just the one that applies the color. those textures effect different colors in different ways.

It is a pain when only piece of your Armour clearly comes out a different color then everything else you are wearing using the same color dye though.

I guess it is a mistake in matching the dye to the color the Armour gets

Why does this game seem so horribly unbalanced?

Sooo..by this logic I should get glory for farming Orr right?

Badges are exclusive to WvW yet they get PvE loot off players.

Point?

It wouldn’t matter at all if people got a measely bit of extra money or loot from Spvp, as long as the loot gained has to do with the PvE level of the character used so people can instantly start farming on a fresh lvl 80 out of no where.

Or it could be based off glory level as well, So you have to be level 80 glory to buy items of level 80

I give up even trying with you anymore.. Spvp and the rest of the game are completely DIFFERENT. All the top armor skins you can get from PVE are in Spvp, but Spvp has no stats (which makes them USELESS anywhere else in the game) No you should not be able to take your pve skins to pvp because you’re suppose to work for them. You do PVE for PVE rewards (WvW links in with PVE as it’s PvX, not PVE or PVP) you so Spvp for the Spvp rewards, yes new better looking skins ARE reward. A reward isn’t just something that’s more powerful… It is harder to get some of the armor skins in PVE then it is in SPVP which would completely remove them as a reward for pve because you wouldn’t have to spend hours doing dungeons because there is no other way to get that gears skin

Because you have to give a reason why it makes the game better.

Not let me get more powerful in the play style I like best, When ever other play style can will simple make me stop playing the game sooner.

How does keep them separate Improve the game in anyway??

You did work for them you got them from other style, SPvP is about kick the crap out of your enemies and standing over there dead bodies.

Why is it the only one??? It should be like this for EVERYTHING then.

You only where dogoun gear in dogouns
You only where Wpvp gear in Wpvp
You only where PvE gear in PvE.

If you switch styles you can’t wear any gear not from that style. Sounds pretty crap doesn’t it??? Thats because it is. and for some reason it only affects one aspect of the game

Yes rewards don’t just have to be about power,

But if Grind sPvP and come you your play style, You are way more powerful them me,
If you grind your style and come to my style we are the same.

And you can’t get the feathered crafting gear in PvP so there are not all there

No any other style can’t take their gear everywhere else.. I can’t take my pve gear to spvp can i? Spvp items have no stats this means they can’t be taken anywhere else, well they could but they’d just make you even weaker. As i’ve already stated. Spvp is completely different part of the game, it’s not linked with the rest of the game. WvW and PVE are linked together still.

Glory gets you new skins for Spvp..

Can you take your Instance gear to PVE, WPvP, YES
Can you take your PvE gear to WPvP, Instance YES
Can you take your WPvP gear to Instance or PVE YES.

In ALL 3 of these cases you are stronger in any aspect because of it. They only style that doesn’t get to do this is Spvp.

And yes you should be able to bring your skins from other modes into SPvP. One of my favorite skins is a PvE one and I hate that I don’t get to where it in SPvP because it’s not available there

SPvP should give loot usable anywhere.

That’s because Spvp and the rest of the game are completely different… In pve all lvl 80 exotics have max stats, only difference is you can choose which 3 stats you want so like Spvp gear isn’t really a massive deal. Yes you are rewarded in spvp, you get new skins. If you ran around in the starting armor in Spvp for the rest of your GW2 life i’m pretty sure you’d moan about that.

So basically.. what you’re saying is, you want to get the best gear in PVE without ever having to do PVE.. well sorry but that’s never going to happen, just like you can’t get Spvp items without ever doing Spvp. You can’t here in GW2 and i’ve never known any other MMO to let you do this either. As i’ve already said it costs 15-20g which really isn’t alot for full exotic gear now surely you can manage that?

This is like saying i don’t want to farm 1 million karma or however much it is for the legendary weapon that i want so instead can i use gold as it’s easier to farm, heck i can even spend real money on it if i want to. Or like saying, i find the exp dungeons too hard on this game and i can’t do them, so can i just do story mode instead and get the tokens still, let’s even go a step further and say let me get CM gear by runing AC just because i prefer AC but the stats on CM are better

Never said that,

Said we should get rewards useable anywhere if thats PvP gear that is fine. I’m still going to be stronger in any part of the game because of it, Even if it’s not the best for PvE or dogouns just like any other play style can farm there stuff and take it somewhere else.

It’s not the best but it better then nothing.

Right now we get nothing to help us once we leave EVERYONE else does.

Both gold and karma can get you legendary.

You use gold at the MF you use karam at the vendor

Glory……..Well that gets you nothing.

Some people like ORR let them farm Orr
Some people like Dungeons let them farm Dungeons
Some people like WPvP let them farm Wpvp.
Some people like to buy there gear with real life money let them buy there gear

Some people like Spvp and for some reason we get totally shafted. Why is this play style the expection

Some people like to Spvp let them farm Spvp for rewards for Spvp. how are you getting shafted? If you invest hundreds of hours into Spvp then obviously you enjoy it and therefore get rewards for playing the style you want..

They are no rewards for Spvp, The stats are all the same.

If I grind anything else. I Increase my power ever where in the game accept Spvp but we are always on equal footing so that doesn’t matter gear wise because everyone uses the same stats.

If I grind SPvP. I increase my power no where

That is a pretty big difference

For Spvp to be good gear shouldn’t count for nothing which is why our rewards can’t make us more powerful there. But like every other play style it should help with other things but it does not.

SPvP should give loot usable anywhere.

If farming Orr and running explorable dungeons take no skill then why don’t you do that instead of trying to convince the devs to change the game?

If you do only PvP you don’t get to look good in PvE, as simple as that. If you didn’t explore any dungeons, you didn’t level your crafting, you never ran events, and you never ran reknown hearts, then I’m sorry but you don’t deserve to look good in PvE.

WvW is another thing though. I think you should be able to export your gear from either sPvP or PvE, however Arenanet needs to consider that PvE players won’t always have level 80 items so that could be problematic for balance.

Because it’s boring, I’m saying they should let you play the style you LIKE.

Sooo..by this logic I should get glory for farming Orr right?

Sure, Glory is worthless. What does it do for you???

Glory will actually hurt you because the match making system will match you with other players who have tons and tons of glory instead of new players who are new to Spvp

That is the difference, When you come to SPvP you simple pick the gear you want and play.

I like to do world pvp sometimes, but you need gear to do that. In order to get that gear you have to grind hundreds of hours of of WPvP or PvE to be effective. Which I would like to do in Spvp.

i am sorry, but all i read is “700 hours played” then see pointless complaints.

if you stuck with this game for 700 hours, which is the equivilent of 17.5 work weeks at 40 hours a week… the game is obviously pretty good.

not trying to be a troll, but seriously, you need some variation in your life. its no wonder you are not happy right now.

Its funny, you and others in this thread comment that since the OP has stuck with the game for so long then it must be good or the OP just likes punishment. I can remember people posting their comments saying they had under 400 hours played and people complained saying they didnt have enough time in game to make any comments.

Basically what you are saying is that no matter how many hours you play you cant comment. Well for one I welcome OPs comments, even though they are more of complaints, but he has played the game more then long enough to have developed these opinions.

Whether I agree with them or not, the game needs them. GW2 is not perfect, most of what OP has said has been said many, many times before. Maybe it is time Anet looks at these comments and starts making changes to fixing them.

MMO games are farming, grinding the same things daily. If you do 100 hours of SPvP you do 100 hours of pvp because you like it not because you’re bored of farming orr. You should not get rewarded in PVE because you play PVP they are two completly differnet aspects of the game and if they did it so you could get rewarded from spvp in pve, then they’d also have to reward pvp rewards from pve. If you want pve rewards and don’t want to farm orr then find other ways of farming, maybe they wont be as effective, but atleast they’d be abit more fun.

You can still.

A) farm Orr which takes no skill at all
or
b) just fork over cash to buy gems which is even easier.

If these are acceptable ways to get gear how is Spvp not. Who cares where you farm.

It doesn’t even have to be PvE gear, You don’t get gear in SPvP you can take outside. If it’s PvP gear that is even better cause i just want it to do WvW anyways

There gear is basically the same anyways except some stats are moved around to toughness which you can fix buy spending you points and gems differently to reorganize your stat distributions

They made the decision to have them be completely separate games. It’s the way it is.

What I wonder is if there’s legendary skins for spvp that you get the usual way (from getting rank chests and using pvp salvage on the items inside). Or perhaps you can only get the ingredients from paid/rank tournaments.

That fine it doesn’t means it’s not a mistake and something that they can’t fix. In MMOs people like to earn new gear they can use anywhere.

They is no reason not to allow saying one of the most popular ways is grinding Orr. Right now I earn loot buy spamming 2 AoE spells with my eng all day long. If this gives end game rewards. there is no reason not to open it up.

Espcially saying Spvp WAS guild wars 1

I don’t want better loot or anything like that. But if I spend 100 hours in hour. I should be able to get around the same spending 100 hours is Spvp. Players tend to go to the path that is easiet to get loot, Right now it’s Orr and they are getting bored.

They should make a system where you can earn loot for the rest of the game from sPvP.

Lets face if you want some of the legendaries you going to have to do ALOT of grinding. sPvP is my favorite play style but it seems what we earn in sPvP we can’t take to wPvP or PvE.

Grinding out Tunnel/Pik in Orr is getting old, I would much rather be grinding sPvP matches.

I wouldn’t say awful, they’re just not the stats you’re looking for.
However, fear not! Don’t worry about a few percent points of MF. Instead, eat MF food, and enjoy your run up to level 80. Then build an Magic Find set that you will enjoy. o_o)-b

Well for mesmer it hard.

I would say screw and just go power build, But all our AoEs are condition based and we can’t tag large group of enemies as power build. We need to use the staff.

Then with condition build we can’t get stats for it and get no magic find.

I know it’s not a huge deal, But have magic find at least for both types of damage would be a improvement IMO.

Carrion works great if you do straight-up conditions and don’t rely on crit-based procs.

However, if a majority of your conditions activate based on your critical attacks, then Rabid and Rampager are suitable alternatives. Rabid can at least give you some survivability with the added Toughness (at the cost of Power), while Rampager is more glass cannon-ish.

Currently, Rabid gear cannot be crafted. It must be purchased from dungeon vendors, karma vendors, or found as a drop.

Based on some moderate experience with condition builds, the only time I would get bent out of shape about it is when I have to destroy siege and destructible objects, since conditions do not affect them right now. Other than that, I wouldn’t mind condition builds, as long you do more than one condition to the enemy. Personally, I find playing condition builds to be fun and interesting.

I know there is some good condition gear but why can’t you get it before end game. It’s there in final sets but there is no weaker versions of it that are easy to get.

I doubt people would be happy, If they start swapping out stats for condition damage on their power gear.

It the same for people who play condition

For example.
You can craft a +Power + Precision + Magic Find set but there is nothing for condition

Anything with condition always comes with a stat I don’t want if I’m trying to go full condition damage like + power.

I feel like I have to play a Power build because all the gear with condition is terrible until high end exotic.

It seems they put alot of though in the what items power builds need and total forgot the game has condition builds as well.

Huh, Why don’t you just find a good Event Chain and keep following it around if you want to grind.

Many many Chains, The NPC will go in event to event to event and you can just keep following them and grinding the events.

Just because the event ends doesn’t mean it’s over. If there are NPC going somewhere. 8 or of 10 times they are going to trigger the next event..

Lots of them spawn pretty fast so you might have to kill mobs for 5 mins before they pop again.
