basically whats happening is when someone logs out of WvW to the character screen they still show to be in WvW according to guild/friends list. So it is entirely possible that the game is thinking they are still in the WvW map.
best thing about devourers imo is that they can keep poison on the target. -33% heal is pretty nice.

Has Anet ever spoken about this?

I can’t AOE them because I only have two real AOEs that are any good and I don’t like using the longbow either,there is literally no counter for thieves as a warrior and the game lag isn’t helping either.
And people say warriors are OP.
I main a ranger and have several other 80 chars. the ranger and warrior are the only two i WvW. around 13k kills about 35% or so are probably from the warrior.
I find that the warrior has good counters to thieves as long as you aren’t a GC zerker build.
once i got rid of the GC build things got much better. i went with more of a balance build that leans towards the tank side. running mostly knights gear with zerk trinkets. i am now running axe/shield and rifle. that gives me 1 stun on each weapon swap, and i have another stun loaded in the skill slots bull rush or stomp. it did suck losing the mobility of the Great sword. makes it hard to get away from a zerg, but O well.
i don’t think i could play a warrior without a shield now. the trait that gives might when you block is pretty nice. the rifle is good against thieves cause we have a knock back and two abilities on it that will track the thief as long as you start the cast before he stealths (volley and kill shot) both do good damage. even with this more balance build i get 10k kill shots on low armor guys.
now when i run with my ranger there are 2 things i wish they would change about stealth.
1. coming out of stealth should give revealed debuff no matter what, not just if you damage from stealth.
2. remove being able to stealth from C&D on my pet. my pet is suppose to be there to help me not the enemy and the pet can’t try to dodge it.
just not sure how much these would hurt the thief.
not really sure. i think it is suppose to be 166 per team. However i have heard stories of people having Ques times. then when they get in they have the outman buff. so there might be a bug in the system.
note: these are just things i have heard. i have never seen any evidence of it occurring.
And like I said I truly do feel sorry for those people. The players that ditched out I have no sympathy for. You all did it to yourselves and I hope it was worth it because it messed up the other servers as well.
I found it crazy to see servers that I knew were very full recruiting saying oh it’s maybe a 5 min queue, that may have been the case before you attracted 1000s of players. I can only imagine what it will be like now.
There is no way they can add a map just for 3 servers because everyone thought they wanted to be there. They would have to add the map to all the servers and honestly some of the servers do not have the players for 3 maps and adding another would not be in the best interest for everyone.
I see your point. if there was an overflow map for people to just have fun, then there would be no incentive to move to a medium pop server.
So i guess i have to agree with you they will have to make a choice, wait in Que(price of being on a T1 server) or move to a lower tier.
Or.. maybe people should have considered queues before the mass exodus to 3 or 4 servers. Sorry if it was your original server but that is way it goes.
well to be fair some people were on lower pop servers enjoying themselves with no Que times then had a mas influx of players causing Q times.
WvWvW reward system must incorparate a DAOC type reward system.
All 5 man groups get a 25% increase in WvWvW points. (aka realm points)
A rank 1 rated toon is worth 100 points. If the player is killed by 10 people who damaged him, they will recieve the points reative to the % of damage done.
Example: I solo and rank 1 person. I get 100 points
5 people kill the rank 1 person. I did 55% of the damage. I get 55 points
20 peopel kill the rank 1 person. I did 4% of the damage. I get 4 points5 man partys get a 25% bonus only if under 10 people damage the target.
As you rank up your value is higher. Example: rank 5.5 = 155 points.

i see were you are going with this but a simple who did the most damage gets more credit will not work imo. That just screws the support guys. Support do not get enough of their just dues as it is.
if 2 groups come head on at each other say 20 each. team X has all dps builds and team Y has some support and bunker builds mixed in to push, I will put my money on team Y every time.
i don’t want a system that will cause all the support guys re spec or leave. I like those guys giving me those stacks of might,stability, regen and more.
don’t think they can really do this as now those tiers would have a high PPT between them which would inflate scores a mess with the ranking system.
Now maybe they could put in a overflow map of some kind that has no PPT value, just be there for people to have fun while they are in Que for the real maps
I would be up for a Thursday night armistice for peeps that want map completion, our matchup should be pretty much set by now methinks.

as Pvp said have it show name of person that ordered upgrade. then take Gabs idea, if it was a troll upgrade take a vote to turn on friendly fire towards said troll

from what i read i belive this is correct. sounds like the culling will still be in effect but they are adding basic models with low detail that will render faster during heavy loads.

the way i see it is that they have said many times that they are working on getting rid of free transfers. this means people have had more than enough time to find a server they like.
so if some people got stuck on a server they don’t like because they could not find one in a few months time, or because they were busy server hopping to winning servers, then that isn’t anyones fault but there own. we have had plenty warning that paid transfers were in the works. IMO none of these people would have the right to mad at anyone but themselves.
but now days people would rather blame the game company than to think “hey you know what they told me paid transfers were coming, maybe i should have listened a found a server i like”
it doesn’t matter what a class is called . ranger, archer, woodsman, scout, beast master , hell you can call it a lumberjack for all i care. But in the world of GW2 the only thing that matters is how anet defines them.
You do realize if they did that, people would have been furious with having choice being taken away and quit? Allowing people to choose, by informing them, they ensure that there’s no fallout. Sure, it’s created a mess in WvW, but there is a significantly higher pve population that would have been completely outraged if this had been silently implemented.
They’ve had how many months to decide on their server?
If something is free there is an expectation for it to continue to be free, unless otherwise announced. To do it without telling people would result in outrage. And that would translate into cancelled accounts. Which in turn would eat into gem store revenue.
well they have said from day one that they plan on getting rid of free transfers. so there was no expectation for it to remain free.

if i remember correctly the lynx is in the 40 to 50 zone just south of hoelbrak.
just exit the south end of hoelbrak then start heading south west and should run into one pretty quick. there is a snow owl in that area also, over on the east side.

In a duel you should be able to beat a thief fairly easily, as you can pick your skills accordingly. Thief is all about burst, absorb it and you should win. Depends on your build, but I’d slot unguent, protect me, traited sos, qz, entangle. Wolf and drakehound. He did call you out OP, you pretty much have to fight him now.

well the way i see it is if a player only goes into EB to do the jumping puzzle then why shouldn’t he just give the siege to a commander or maybe a friend that does WvW? if those guys were not out there fighting and makeing sure you have your keep, then you would not have a EB JP to go to.
ressing someone on the other side of a door might be a cheap tactic and one i would not condone. However until they stop the ability to spike from the other side and also stop AoE from hitting the other side of the door i would not call it cheating. as it is now it is bad design of how the door works.

The impacts of paid servers will be a long-term feel as opposed to immediately felt. Current players will finally settle into a “home” and newer players will begin to fill the rest. As long as the game continues to draw players everyone should feel the benefits over time.
yep. i belive it will balance back out eventually. not everyone is looking for the same things and have different priorities. Que times will play a factor in this. for all we know there might be a few guilds on the top tier servers waiting as long as they can (to see how things are going) then transfer to a server with lower pop and good fights so they don’t have to set in a que to play with their friends.

The current badge system is terrible and should not be the base for anything until it’s been completely reworked.
It rewards glass cannons and mindless damage spam over team oriented builds and tactical and objective based gameplay. That’s just ridiculous design in a highly objective based game mode.
What you are suggesting is that they should reward Badges of Honor for doing PvE. Badges on player kills is the only reliable way of making sure that Badges are awarded for actual PvP.
I think what he is saying is that support builds should get a little more recognition. for example i have so many gear sets that i change often depending what i feel like doing.
So when i am in my GC gear/build and mainly focusing on doing as much damage as i can then the support guardian shout warrior or what ever is next to me giving me much better dps and survivability should get some credit for the damage i am doing, as they are helping me do it. I would have to agree with him if this is the case.

How are badges useless? They buy PVT gear which is highly sought after.

other than trinkets PVT gear can be bought with karma. i have 2 chars with over 600k karma still.
however i thought they mentioned new skins from WvW. i will have to look again to be sure.

i see. thanks. one last question. Can I put a sigil of perception on the axe and a sigil of bloodlust on the torch. will I be stacking 2 things at the same time? That means after killing 25 foes, i will have 25 stack of precision and power?
as funky said only one will apply.
however if you use 2 of the same then you will get 2 stacks per kill. this will allow you to get to 25 stacks quicker.
it is a good idea to have another set of weapons in you bags with other sigils in them. then you can switch to those after you get your 25 stacks.

i would agree. however i watched it a few times and it does not look like the lord was purposefully glitched. it did look like he bugged out for a few sec trying to figure out who to attack. this looked more like bad AI dealing with stealth. We really can’t ask a thief to not use a core mechanic because it MIGHT cause a short glitch can we?
well as much as i dislike thieves (except the ones on my server of course) i watched the video a few times and i saw nothing that i would consider an exploit. the tower lord did seem to freeze up for a few seconds. however that looked more like he was confused as to hit at the moment as his enemies kept going invis on him. i think we all have been there when fighting these pesky buggers

Larger worlds? PvDoor sounds really intense.
it would only be PvD if one team is dumb and kept their entire team in one big zerg(like it basically is now).
with larger maps it would force the zergs to break up into smaller squads of like 20. you would have def and off squads for different locations of the map. these squads would need to communicate and work together. we would end up with more 20 on 20 man fights instead of the 80 on 80. hell this would probably help a little with the culling as there would be fewer zerg fights.
as it is now everyone just balls up into a giant zerg cause if anything does come under attack it only takes half a min to get there and defend.
i agree with this. if the maps were larger then you could punish that 100 man zerg that was in the east by taking their undefended points in the west. this would cause them to have to break up into smaller 20 to 25 man groups.
I just hope we will be able to get those ascended items via doing wvwvw related things.
i agree. it sucks that the only way to get an ascended back is to be forced to run a dungeon over and over and hope the crafting item you need drops.
Does SoR not show up during the day, or is their lead just so huge that they don’t care? I was looking forward to attacking their stuff on EB but SBI took away that option.
i think it has more to do with the fact that 1st place is already theirs and they do not wish to go to T1(yet). so many of them are tanking the mach from here on out.
I found that happening in T2 as well, it’s very sad as it takes the fun out of playing. I recently moved to Yaks, a T4 server and discovered the “Joy of WvW” again. heh
I totally agree with Tripp, I mean really the only other option is to move servers like I did, and it shouldn’t have to be like that.
a few friends and I have been contemplating moving to YB ourselves. we are really tiered of running into a 50 plus zerg every time you round a corner. kind of figure if we move to a lower pop tier it would be easier to get into some small scale skirmishes. we will probably wait a bit after paid transfers and see how things settle out.
Well just a post to say thanks to A-Net for the pay transfers and splitting up guilds as a result. Next time think about adding stuff
paid transfers are not to blame. the peoples attitude of win at any cost even above having fun is to blame here.
I guess they could have just put in paid without telling anyone. however then you would probably be the first one here yelling at them for not giving a warning.
It`s an exploit, stop trying to defend it. Between things like this, the 1button kill macros, culling and many other “bug” abuses its no wonder most people started hating thieves.
It is not an exploit…the same result can be achieved by hitting the door.
not 100% sure but i don’t think this would work on a door. i think what gives the revealed debuff is doing damage from stealth not the use of an ability. so hitting the door would cause a little damage and give the revealed debuff.
- Every server in the game has PvPers who are as skilled as any on another server. There’s something to be said about individual skill and team co-ordination, but size of the PvP base will always be the limiting factor on skill. TC beat the likes of YB and FA to move up the ladder not because Coasters are more skilled, but because we had more numbers over a 24 hour period. That’s just the way things go. I’m happy for SoS, JQ, BG, SoR that they have far better numbers and coverage than TC.
one thing i would like to add here is that out of all the servers we have faced, YB had some of the better PvPers. they just had poor coverage. this is just my opinion based on the time frames i play in.
for those saying to give it to a ranger i would have to disagree. my main is a ranger and it just doesn’t seem to fit the ranger. the ranger needs a little help but to give them something that doesn’t fit their theme(just for the sake of buffing them) would be wrong IMO.
I could however see the engi getting some type of transportation devise. portable asura gate.
