You can just customize for your 3 skill to be on your 2 button, problem solved…
This is account wide and messes you up if you change weapons (ie hit ~ to swap) or play more than one class.
Anyway, I’m not trying to say you’re wrong for what you’re doing. I was just saying what seems to trigger DR codes and what I do to avoid them. I’m not a dev so I have NO clue for 100% certain and if you wanna wait on a dev, I can’t say you’re wrong in doing that.
I just don’t think they’ll ever explain the mechanics. :/
Ya… I get that it might make bots less effective, but it goes against everything I thought I knew about the game. Aren’t we suppose to want to do low level zones when we hit 80? Aren’t the low level zones suppose to still be a challenge at 80? Well, they aren’t. I can solo the 1-15 zone bosses.
I can’t help but think that part of the problem is that the game was severely nerfed from BWE2 to BWE3/live. In BEW1/2 you could be 2 shot by trash mobs if you didn’t evade. I can wade through groups of mobs in live and never worry about being downed much less defeated.
And then bots… oh those dirty bad names. Maybe bots would be less effective if they couldn’t farm naked? If they had to react to ground effects? If they couldn’t take on groups of NPCs/mobs? If they were detected and removed?
Strill, it’s doing the same event back to back. Did you do those five events in a chain or did you just sit at the camp waiting for the next spawn? If you break up events with other events, it delays DR.
I’m assuming this because I’ve tested it, though not enough to say for 100% sure. If I do the Orr defend the camp events in the last one and just do those ones without anything in between and just wait for the respawn of that single event without moving from the event area, Karma amounts start dropping after the 3rd iteration.
The same event back to back!? Why would anyone ever do that? That’s so horribly slow! And no, I’m referring to the maggot chain and the Penitent/Shelter’s Gate events.
I like to run the starter zone events. I’m not trying to farm anything, I just enjoy doing them. They tend to fire off faster than some other zone events.
I ran with my spouse today and she had “obstructed” spam when I didn’t. She was an Asura War, I was a Human Guardian.
Oh! THOSE!
Ya, I can actually explain that potentially. There were a lot of people doing them with you, correct? The reason might be that you end up accidentally ‘speed running’ them just because of the sheer mass of players hitting the mobs in the camp. Thus you’re doing them faster than ANet expects them to be doable, thus triggering the code.
Because after a certain mass of players, no amount of scaling saves those poor mobs, especially if they aren’t wave events that are on timers. They have the potential to hit DR if people are doing them all in a chained row.
I hope you’re wrong because I like to run my full exotic level 80 in starter zones and can wipe out an entire group of level X mobs in under 3 seconds.
I played GW2 for the public beta events and never would’ve dreamed of being able to wipe out groups of mobs in BWE1 or 2… it’s not my fault that mobs die in 2-3 hits and my melee counts for AoE.
The game is truly great. I love the detail put into the zones. Can’t wait to see what ANet adds to GW2 over the next couple years. I’m lovin it.
You have to admit that it has become confusing. Instead of just playing the game without care for mechanics, I have to consider whether or not I’m being penalized for enjoying doing whatever I’m doing.
I hope that DR is a TEMPORARY bandaid for a larger problem that is still being worked on.
Activation times finally revealed in tooltips, why were they hidden in the first place?

You can tell that this thread is not a joke because it did not start out with, “Knock Knock.”
I’m still waiting for you to provide proof to backup your claims.
If you’re getting destroyed at 80 by 80 mobs then why not go redo some lower level zones? GW2 needs zones that are more difficult (especially for us who enjoyed BWE1 & 2 and cried for BWE3)… the starter zones are painfully easy, why not go do those, again?
I ALWAYS hold my 2h Sword rather than 2H Hammer because it is significantly larger.
I’m going to try to field this, let me know how I do…
“Thief had some skills reduced in power to make the game more enjoyable for everyone.”
Were Guardian symbols really owning that much face? I’m trying to think of when I abused or fell victim to Guardian symbols in PvP… and am drawing a blank.

I don’t even have 2 level 80s or a single legendary weapon. Maybe your goals aren’t properly aligned with the game’s mechanics?
Gosh, yes. The hordes of nude and semi-nude ranger-bots infesting the human starting areas on presumably every server weren’t getting sufficient loot drops.
Glad we made them more profitable.
I’ve only seen bots in the game a grand total of three times. I’m not worried about it. I’d much rather have the extra loot and not be “punished” for sticking around Orr for a while.
I welcome you to join us on Kaineng, land of the BORG, where litereally more than half the players in many zones are BOTS.
Don’t get me wrong, coming from Dragonbrand, I know that populated servers are NOT filled with BOTS, but the, um… lesser populated servers… are drowning in BOTS. I spend the first 2-5 minutes of entering a new area reporting BOTS.
I’ve been experiencing longer than acceptable loading times for weeks. I blame the 14.5GB Gw2.dat file. What a terrible way to store data!
I’ve been so upset about not being able to defragment the GW2.DAT file that I’ve gone through my cabinet, dated all of my canned foods, and reorganized them by name (alphabetic) and expiration date.
No, but my spouse’s much older and slower computer experiences longer load times than my newer, faster computer.
I too pooh pooh on the GS change for the same reasons. I spent all night hitting the wrong button. Fortunately I was in a starter area and didn’t realize how badly nerfed it was.
The way I keep retaliation up is use the 2h hammer and use the #2 skill in my/other light fields. =O Sorry 2H hammer lovers!!?!
Coming from someone who now plays on Kaineng, a few dozen bots in any location would be a large reduction.
Thank you for posting this. I thought I was going crazy. I kept hitting the wrong button to activate skills and thought I needed to cut back on Captain.
It would be cool if guilds could claim PvE towns in the same way that they can claim PvP forts and there were some kind of mini-game associated with this control that lead to GvG.
There are several other games that do conquest well, like Lineage 2 (another NCSoft franchise), so I won’t talk about how it could be done since it has already been done well. I would just like to say that I agree that some kind of GvG would be nice and throw out the idea that PvE towns could be made conquerable with minimal disruption to players that do not want to participate (no more inconvenience than a NPC invasion and likely on a much longer timer).
WvW is fun and all but seems to lack impact since victory is fleeting… this is where I think that a new kind of PvP ( GvG ) could benefit the game even if it needs to be done on its own, separate maps.
