Hm guess we need to swear more so that a moderator comes by. ^^

Aw, that’s a cute little one. I want to cuddle it

Hmm, rise was always my favourite skill since the release of the reaper. Is has often saved my life in a massive zerg or in bossfights. Imho, with that change you can forget to play melee and you are stuck in range again because of the lack of real defense sigh. I was thinking to play gw2 again, after hearing of the release of a new LS, but with that changes, nope, I won’t do this. I’m just going to log-in for the free unlock of the LS. Maybe in a few months after i forget this patch. Qol for necros, how funny, but not for me.
@XTR
Yes, mostly it’s either warrior or guardian, but I’ve had also the pleasure to run with other commanders who have played with an unusual commander professions. So I never trust what I see in wvw.
Hiding ranks wont prevent “driver sniping”. We had called this pin sniping, and a few times I did this. It was funny, but the rank was the last thing you’ve looked for when doing this. Against the zerg you only see a bunch of red names. It’s helpful when you have to decide, but not really necessary. You can still identify the commander, the only thing which helps is to have a back-up commander.
The memories of pin-sniping a commander, who always had have raged on the other players, bring me still an evil smile on my face. The rank system was late introduce in the game, it says nothing about the skill the player have.
This is the build I’m using (basic backline power wellmancer) – http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-30;3o2GJ0C4sJkJ0;9;4A9;1147056;75FZ0U;1udbTudbTNBl51-o09WYod1-60B1G2LZR_6Z-870HV8aNX8a;9;9;9;9;9;4VG-6n
3rd trait line is Reaper (the most common one used).
Skill rotation is like always – Well bomb on enemy when raid leader calls for it and then staff&marks on the enemy zerg and enemy players trying to revive their downed comrades.
Please do share what am I doing wrong here to get less loot bags ?
Well bombs when com calls it is correct and I agree there but are you using the staff outside of putting down marks to prevent revives? The mark of blood is silly low cool down and can pretty much be spammed for tagging, staff 1 pierces and likewise is great for tagging. Both these should be used at all times and are responsible for most loot bags.
Additionally I’m starting to see more and more necros switch from reaper to base necro for a few reasons.
- Reaper shroud is melee and most raids don’t give them melee support.
- You don’t have the long range piercing life blast.
- You can pick up blood magic for more sustain and shorter well cool downs with the power of spite traits.
Now a lot of that depends on your raid comp and the way you fight vs how the others fight but in my opinion base necro shroud was a tagging beast with 4 and 5 and piercing life blast. Add that to spamming mark of blood and staff auto and you should be getting a lot of loot.
The only other thing I can think of is positioning where you might be too far from the action to tag the people at the back before they die when they do get steamrolled. That’s when I would use life transfer to tag them all as they go down while moving.
Yes, reapers rarely get support in raids, mostly they are put all together in one group without any stability support, which is sad and much damage can’t be done. Based on this experience I had to change my build more selfish to survive this lack of zerg support (my latency was about 200 – 300, which is hard enough most of the time). The reaper plays different from the wellmancer.
I have to say, it could be better, but atm for me it’s good enough. The ascended things rotate trough all my alts.
I don’t think that down-stated should activate necro marks, it’s simply unnecessessary and wasted cooldown. You have the death shroud or reaper’s shroud for those unlucky foes to get full bags. With good zerg fights the free slots in your inventary should be filled very easily. My 120 free slots were mostly full after 1 1/2 hours, when I didn’t salvage between the fights (recommends an activ map with enemies and gems for new bagslots).
I’m one off the so-called whiner here, just because I didn’t cheering about these news, I will probable stop playing this game. I’m still against that one timezone is going to be more worth than others. I know how it feels when having no chance against a karmatrain, map blob or however you name it. When having a match against DB (yb, tc, fa, sbi), I stood many times alone against DB-Sea until I gave up and did pve those weeks. But often I wish a Meteor would crashed into their zerg and would killed them instantly.
Maybe anet should introduce a Debuff named ‘Curse of the lonesome defender’ or ‘jinx’ in the Borderlands, when for your server is outnumbered and got raided by overwhelming forces. This curse should give the invaders a harder time for pvd’ing and for scoring. The debuff should increase when there are low or no defender, and decrease when there are more defender arriving with some action outside of the citadel. It should stacks how long the invaders stays in your borderland and how much he hold on your rightful territories, and how many invaders exist. Let me playing a mind game, it’s just a raw idea, I don’t even expects that this will go ever ingame^^ :
1 stack – you are not feeling well (nothing happens here)
10 stacks – something is not right (occasionally pve champs spawn and attack you, no loot)
25 stack- you are running slowlier
50 stacks – more champs are attacking your camps/objects on the same time (when not defended by the invaders, these champs will conquer it back for their rightful owner
75 stacks – fire – all the supplies in the coquered objects are burnt down
100 stacks – earthquake – all walls of the invaders coquered objects are destroyed (if there is a ‘lonesome defender’ he can buy for some gold a supportive attack team with atleast champion to defeat the keeplord.
125 stacks – watch in the air- a meteor will kill all invader of your realm instantly. Guards don’t allow you to enter the borderland for a few minutes after respawn. Curse decrease during this time.
This curse doesn’t effect you when you are the defender of the homeborderland or in ebg. It should only exist in the borderlands.
…
- No PPK or LOOT for siege damage on players. Siege can still do more damage on players than their character, but they will have to forego their LOOT and PPK if they even think about touching that AC. This encourages players to learn their characters and fight with characters instead of siege, and make hard choices and discourages zerg siege humping encouraging fun fights instead.
…
Sorry Lil, I’ve have to shortened the quote, but I fully agree with everything in it. In my my mind penalizing players because they don’t play in the primetime will hurt wvw a much more than anet could imagine. When I started with playing guildwars 2, I was playing in sea, I’ve got on na servers a better lantency than to eu servers. Years later I’ve moved back to europe again, but still playing on na servers because the queues on eu servers were ridiculous high during eu prime. Basically night capping is a bigger eu problem and a lesser na problem, so why do not implemented all the suggestions only for eu servers and do only minor changes for na servers.
I’ve quoted this part, because this should definitely come ingame. +1 from me
I’ve readed the scoring suggestions and I don’t like them, because they are all based of the discriminations for off hours players. If this ideas are coming, I really hope anet gives these players better rewards during the off hours, because they can’t help/contribute to their servers anymore. Tbh, why should they still join wvw with this changes? Anet threaten them not equally, they are less valued costumers.
I was thougt about primezones based on the wvw activity level of the server, but it’s still discrimination for other timezones. Every costumer should be worth in the same way.
DBL was worst to navigate. My comparison between Hills and Airkeep. You find very easy the entrance to hills, yes it’s harder to break through, when the gate is blocked, but you don’t need to find the right path at first, when the keep is attacked by the enemy. When following a commander and missed the go, in the alpine map you can easily find your way back to the commander, not so in the desert borderland with all the canyons and different heights and blocked path, not if you don’t have much swiftness on you. For dbl you need to know the maps by heart to be effective, not so the alpine maps. It’s more user and casual friendly.
my 2 cent
Alpine have outdated look? Many player have or had reduced the graphic quality for battles. Who looks after the graphic, if you should better concentrate on the fights you have? The alpine maps in gw2 were always my favourite maps in gw2, not only in wvw, in pve too, I just leave Timberline Falls here. Somewhere in the forum was a poll about the most liked map in gw2, this pve map was mentioned many times.
Yes, I totally agree. The big fights on jq bl during eu prime yesterday were amazing. I had so much fun, it was so good to see the map again. Now I can go back to my borderland defense duty, even when it’s harder than before, but that’s no surprise. The last months has taken tolls.
I am happy. Thank you, Anet!
Thank you for speeding up the progress of the reward track with the last patch.
I’m very grateful for these changes, with the arah track I finally finished my first legendary item in three years.
No, everyone is surely joking with you.
I can just imagine how popular CS would have been without score.
“Awesome, did you win the round?”
“No one won!”
“But did you get any kills?”
“I dont know, they dont count!”
“Uh… did the enemy get points then?”
“No!”Great fun. Hell I might even play the new Overwatch if no one ever scores.
Do you really compare cs with wvw?
The pvp-scenarios would fit better for the comparison than world vs world. Single map with equal player number. Unfortunately you don’t have equal numbers in wvw. Balancing is the key word, I just repeat what others already said.
There are other possibilities for winning a match, but the game engine or gameplay would be a different one. One, maybe stupid example, referring on old warhammer online: Taking SMC as the final object. The match would take so long until someone has conquered and hold it for an amount of time. Then the match is over and reset, the winning server get the loot. Lets rinse and repeat for a couple of hours, then mix the teams according how often they have won. 1st to 1st, 2nd to 2nd, and 3rd to 3rd place. In the end it would be a different game.
I think, most of you care too much about ppt. And for what? One lousy chest more than the other will receive at the end of the week. C’mon, are you serious? As you have already written, you get better fights and action during primetime than other who are playing in the off-hours. That’s, in my eyes as a longtime wvw’er, more worth, more funny, more challenging than the boring pvd during the off hours or when dominating a timezone.
Please remember when talking to other non-english player, that there are differences between what you/they mean and what is actual written, people however respond to a message in different ways. With writing you can never send your message in the same clear way how you can do this in real-life with your own language.
Short summary to viewer who don’t want to read through the dirty laundry here: Sea blames that they don’t be heard from na, na blames the sea/ocx to do their own things. Lack of communication. Players from usa who don’t listen to other people . It’s a cultural thing from usa, I guess, not a breaking news so far.
Everyone else: here, grab my popcorn and enjoy, I’m out of this.
Being on several servers for now. Seeing that all servers have sometimes a high toxical level. I would blame the drama queens and elitist players. They try to takeover a server, try to transform it after their wishes. They are getting obnoxious when other players resist and don’t want to follow. Spreading their poison and leave the server for the next >victim<. Together with the queer idea from na-players for locked tiers (aka only the No. 1 server is the real winner), it’s no wonder why players are stacking servers.
Actually I was happy on jq not to read all drama stuff, which happened behind the doors. In the wvw chats on jq I’ve seen rarely poisened words against others, and thats what’s important to me. In the end it’s still a game. For myself the pairing of jq and ioj was the best what could happen to me. New server members are needed, but with locked server you don’t get any. After jq is locked, I’ve transfered back to my origin server ioj, so I can play with my old friends again, but still have some actions, even when there aren’t many during my timezone like last years when I left ioj for jq.
I really hope jq will recover with nice and relaxed people, the server deserve this imho. I have just good memories of massive battles during the eu timezone (before yb has replaced tc).
Sincerely
an eu pug

Hmm, queues topic. I’m not sure which topic will survive the topic merge?
It was reset, I’m on Piken Square with my second account. This server isn’t linked to any other server, but I saw queues of 130 in ebg, 30-60 in all borderlands. My only comment in the guild chat was: I guess the changes has worked.
People are coming back and it will settle down during the week. It was good to see the queues again, makes that game mode finally alive again.
And just for poking the outraged people here: Go eotm, it was made for those who have to wait until they can join the regular maps.;)
The lonely dev, who was given the responsibility for the alpine border map, will be in my prayers from now on. I hope he or she won’t do anything stupid. :P
I will play in wvw again, even when the new, old bl is like ebg now. Nowadays when I’ve logged in, I saw the long queue in ebg (60+) during prime, I either decide to play in pve or start another game.
Does anyone remember how often Tarir has failed, shortly after the release of HoT? I’ve had thought that I will never see the heropoint at the end of the chamber. And now it’s on farm status if you get into an organised map, the same with TD. People are learning the mechanic whenever they get in an organised map, sometimes just someone has to explain it, if there are too many event-newbies out there. Then, if players just would listen more and don’t press just 1,1,1 … , more event would be successful and non-chaotic.
I miss it too, it was my lucky charm. When I had some in my inventory, I always got better loot than without, at least one rare or exotic item during the evening. Occasional even an ascended armor or weapon chest. And I was always joking that the spoon was my only exotic item for today. Alternative they could introduce the nice shiny bauble in wvw as a replacement for the siege commander spoon, that’s my favourite junk item at all. Worth 30s each piece.
People will still abuse siege and other gimmicks because its easy to, and I think wvw needs to move towards a path that encourages players to fight each other, not siege and doors.
Amen. Your word the anets ears.
Well, regarding the elementalists meteor shower. As far as I can remember when playing this profession long time ago, a zerker ele is very squishy. Under an attack he won’t cast long enough for the full power, the cd is high. Simple solution, don’t let him to come near to the wall, chill him for example. Usually there is lack of ele’s in zergs.
Anet has changed some skills, that this profession doesn’t make fun in wvw to me like it does before. I’m still mourning about the old meteor shower (10 players, unblockable) and old dragon tooth. But every time I found a new fun making build, they have nerf’d it to the ground shortly after. Thanks to those players who don’t know the advantage of this profession, but cry a lot about it how much damage the ele does.

Yes Aeowia, it was more relaxing. I don’t like maps where my run is stopped to often by a pebble or a sprig on the road. As far I can remember around 1 minute from garri to bay, and less than a minute from sw spawn to bay outer gate. It was the thrill: Will we make it or not? To get on the right time there either to defend or to capture (Sneak attacks). Cheering when we had luck, mumble and seeking for revenge when not. It was these emotions in ts and map chat, which had make fun to me. Now the walls and gates are thicker and and the ways are longer. It isn’t a dynamic game anymore in my view.
Sure, on the one side the alpine where boring to see with the time, but if the alpine map would have been had seasons like autumn (pick a apple at the mill for a shorttime buff) or winter with a frozen bay, there would be no need for another map too soon so far. Every quarter of the year the map would have been a little bit different.
Well, my stupid idea for a compromise with the return of the alpin maps. For wvw the actual dbl isn’t so good, but it would be a perfect map for pve only. So it’s not a waste of work, instead they could fill DBL with tons of events. The players have start on the west side of the map with taking the camps, then the tower, then the shrines and then the keep, start over again on the east side. They can only attack the north keep when they hold both keeps. If they hold all keeps, a worldboss spawns in the oasis. Together with gliding and tons of mobs, this map could be fun to play. The wvw-players have their beloved alpine map back, the pve-crowd get new shinies and are learning the basics of wvw without have to fight other players.

There are many reason why people don’t join or use ts. Sometimes there are technical issues why you can’t join, sometimes you can’t stand out other voices and their chatter after a hard working day or sometimes there are medical problems. Once, I’ve known a commander, who had served for the us-army in iraq, after his commitment, he was deaf, so he didn’t use ts and he was good commander, defensive, but very good. Basically if the group understand wvw and their profession and stay on the commander all the time, then you don’t really need ts most of the time, it’s too simple. Maybe someone could published are Top-5 list with the most spoken commands? I guess bomb, bomb, bomb is on the first place. Do you really think, separate them from their friends is okay, just that someone screams at you: stack, bomb or push?
No need, just promote more your server ts and tell the players you need them there.
Yes, I vote for friday. Personally I would prefer eu reset at 19:00 utc, after dinnertime, but I could live with 18:00utc too.
Once I’ve been in an asura zerg, only one human was there. It has been looked like an kindergarten trip. We were visiting Bay, but the owner didn’t let us in. We only wanted to see the sharks.
My priorities are:
1. big nerf on all sieges (except the trebuchet)
2. return of the alpine borderland
3. Revision of dbl. Flatten it and add more direct ways for better fights, dwindling ways as >safe< shortcuts could stay. Ads more green, but no jungle, reduce pve mobs
4. allow gimmicks again, like transformation potions, fireworks and brooms for example
5. Better Rewards. Please give the wvw players the possibility to get all pve related (like raids, dungeons, legendaries, achievement etc.) items without that they have been stucked in pve for months. That include next to the guild revision an update for armour, weapons, sigils, runes, receipts and many more for hero bagdes. I don’t want to farm smokeclaws to finish Dark Harvest, I would pay 500 or 1000 hero bagdes for it. It’s okay for me if the players have to pay more for newer things, and less for the older ones.
The problems with the meta builds are, that these builds put you in one direction of gameplay. In the zergs I’ve run lately, many commander/lieutenants still haven’t accepted yet, that the reaper specialisation is a melee not a range class anymore (old meta). So they put them all together in one group without any guardian or a profession who gives stability, and then they wonder why either the reapers rage-quit or they lose fights. Seen lately 7 of 10 reapers left the raid within a minute, after a new lieutenant have changed the groups and fights which were won earlier went suddenly into a massacre of your own group. I didn’t stay long too, after the next lieutenant put all reapers into a group again. So, on a personal necromancer pov, not having HoT isn’t a problem.
They could check at Tarir too please, these two npc’s who are amazed from this city “What haven’t I found ….” are repeating their 2 sentences again and again, in such a short time, that’s really annoying. No kidding, I could kill these 2 npc’s. I’m just not allowed to do this * growl *.
I don’t use reddit either, but I’ve heard that other games developer use this kind of communication too. Since the outsourcing of the match-up forum (and other sub-forums), the wvw forum went asleep. All these beggings, complains or promoting ideas in the last years are like talking against a wall. You will get no sign of reaction at all. All you can do is talking to other players, nothing more. They either agree or disagree to your post. It’s a waste of energy and time to write proposals or complains here. New times, I guess. I wouldn’t wonder if future games will do without forums.
It’s okay when players don’t want to join a squad, but then they should not wonder if they get invite spams. If they have already their own group, why not? As long as they communicate I see no problem. With a wvw background I try to join a raid in a meta event and if I’m allowed I invite everyone around me for once at the beginning of the event. If he or she decline then it’s his own decision, I don’t care further. Some newbies don’t know yet how they can join, for them it’s helpful. Not to mention the buffs you get.
In an organized DS I’m almost every time in the bossgroup, and there is where I’m a little bit annoyed from these single players. If they are not in the raid and bossgroup and get downstated by the boss I don’t even try to revive them. And based on what characters I played, I’ve done uncounted revives so far. That’s my simple decision. No need to insult or rant at players.
I agree that players want the easiest loot but I don’t think your prediction on an area controlled system would further imbalance the game. If my server owned less land and I want better rewards then I have a good incentive to capture more don’t I?
If you have enough players around you either in a balanced tier or timezone, then you are right, that could work. But if you are stuck in a matchup, where your timezone or your server in general has not enough player to defend any structures, while your opponents do karma-training in a zerg or on watch against each other, then you won’t see any land. Everytime you try to conquer a camp, they will send a group to kill you, if the server is better organized.
So, the others get their better shiny stuff, but you will be demotivated after a short time and won’t join wvw again or leave the server. It’s a bit unfair don’t you think? I have never played during na-primetime, so I’ve seen these things happened several times in my played timezones. It’s just natural. I believe a server who is already dominating the maps, received more than enough items, these contemplate map rewards should be fair to every player, imho. Just as a small part in the major overhaul.
http://neurope.eu/article/does-luck-exist-or-it-state-mind/
Basically, “luck” is a matter of perspective.
I can fully sign this.
For me, I don’t care about precursors, I got 1 in 3 years and I’m not sad about that, because I hate dungeons and fractals, so it is still on my bank and I will never finish it, unless anet decide to change these requirements, which will never happens. But I was so happy when I’ve received Celestial Dye and Abyss Dye to a time where they were the most expensive colours in the trading post and I’m still very happy when I get a colour, which I don’t have yet. Other don’t care about dyes. When I used to play a lot in wvw, I always wanted the keg of wxp, but never seen that, the 4 or 5 ascended items I got made me happy, especially after you can change the stats. I’m okay with the rest of item quality, as long as I can salvage it.
I have complain about this issue plenty of times. If the rewards in WvW were better, more players will spend time playing that game mode. ANet needs to make it much easier to make gold from playing WvW. I suggest rewarding the players base on how much territory their server holds. A reward chest should be awarded at 10 minute increments. This way it will encourage each sides to capture and hold more territory. Of course the biggest issue facing WvW isn’t reward but population imbalance. They need to fix that first.
Great idea.
No, it isn’t a good idea, if the rewards would be based on how much territory your server owned. This will increase the imbalance of servers even more. Server-stacking on one side, zombie servers on the other side. Remember, the common player is a lazy player, he wants his loot on the easiest way and as fast as possible. Imho, it would be better when the map reward chest depends on the numbers of players actions or numbers of successful events during the 15 minutes period for example.
What wvw also needs is a huge step back from these fun killing siege-usage, no ballistas, no arrow carts anymore, or at least only a limited usage. Let me say so, you want to use the arrow cart? Use your supplies or build your own arrows.
Since I’ve started with this game, wvw have always burnt a gap in my wallet. Food, stones, new armour and weapon sets. Earning enough ingame gold was most of the times not possible, because I’ve donated many of my blueprints to several guilds instead of selling them in the trading post. After changing the guild system I cannot even produce guild sieges anymore with my personal guild. Sure they make some points cheaper, but selling blueprints was the easiest way to earn enough gold.
How much gold you earn in pve depends what you are doing there. VB/AB/DS give a lot of stuff, which you can salvage and sell, by just doing events and grabbing everything you see. In two hours I earn at least 3-5g or could earn even more if I want, you get enough of the T5/T6 crafting mats aswell. Because of this I earned 36g with my crafting from 475 to 500 , because I had all the mats for berserker gear, which I sold after creating. With only wvw it wouldn’t be possible, not even close.
Why I’m writing this? The rewards has to be really better to bring the people in to wvw with all the risk of dying you have there. And of course you will have leechers (remember the Karmatrains) again. Basically wvw is only fun if you have enough and skilled people around you, the numbers depends on your personal gamestyle. Losing because of untrained or lack of players, doesn’t make fun. Maybe anet could add a system where players get a reward when they are fighting enemies aka “[Group]Event: Defeat the invader”. No matter of winning or losing the battle, everyone could get some stuff and gold, if did something for the group(damage or healing). But of course the winner should get better loot (high chance of rare/ lesser chance of exotic loot) and more gold. And these events should be more rewarding that the “taking objects”-event.

Just say RIP 6 in Map chat.
And the fight against Mouth of Modremoth will be exciting again. It was almost failing (95% consumed Ley energy) just because of the sadness about the Death of Shashoo at the half of the fight.
Oh man, how could I forget He Man? Shame on me. He was a great commander, he has saved us many times and gave us hope in times of desperation!
I would really get the old maps backs, but they wouldn’t be the same as before for me, because too many wvw players have left this game. Even a rotation of maps would be okay, so the desert bl could go to the red team, for more defense
.
As I said before, the real problem is the lack of communication from development teams. They say, they are working on it, but you don’t read any progression about it. A tiny hint or spoiler here and there, would give most of us hope. Sure it has to be technically perfect and they should not ignore the concerns from the players and explain their decisions, so we would not have any problems with waiting for it (lol we have already waited long enough).
Actually I shouldn’t link this video, because it isn’t listed and were for the guild-use only, but the guild has been long disbanded and the player who made this video doesn’t play any more. That fight, constant in combat for around 30 minutes, was so amazing, I still love it when I see this. How I miss that guild and the people in it, so here’s a gentle aroooo from me too you guys. Now, I go into a corner and cry a little bit.
- The keep lords are too strong for small groups, meaning they do not die fast enough for a larger group to come in and wipe them.
Ok, IMO the only keep lord that is stupid as hell is the garrison keep lord. Way too much HP. Like, an order of magnitude too much. That needs to get tuned WAY down. For air & fire keeps, I think the power/abilities/complexity of the lord fight and the layout of the various lord room is fine.
The keep lords are really easy if you know the mechanics. Break the shield and they get huge damage. The shields breaks with cc’s. Control effects like knockdown (example: Flesh golem- charge) work better than soft cc like fear. Most of the players don’t use cc’s on keep lords, because they don’t know it yet. You wonder how fast a keep lord can die, after telling this your zerg or group.
After 2 years of playing there should be enough mats and stuff in the bank. So check after some receipts for the mystic weapons, which are needed for the specific collection.
The black lion skins are a longtime investment. Someone who has the skins from the first Halloween event, could now make real profit. Playing pve-events is the best options for a low but steady income, you get so much stuff, your bags are always full. You have a hard choice between salvage these dozen of rare items for ectos or sell them directly. Check for the niche like dyes or pets, sell the thing scribes need.
To avoid spending gold, don’t change the gear on your character, except you have already everything in your bank. In WvW you spend so much gold after each balance patch or for buying sieges or nourishments, and you will never earn much to compensate these costs. So don’t do it. If your guild will pay for it, well then you should not say no
. I’m definitely not a trader, but since I’m playing more pve than wvw I have more gold than before, tendency is rising.
If you really need and want to use an emote, better use /bow or /salute. The /laugh is really overused in wvw and it annoys the people, not only roamers. It show a bad behaviour, like the two other emotes some people are spamming.
What some people don’t know here: Good mesmers are really hard to kill and they are able to keep a bunch of people busy and waste their time. Mesmers are the perfect profession if you want trolling people, that’s why mesmer get no love in wvw, except from your side when giving portals and veils.
For server loyalty you need a bit of everything to stay there. I still like my first server ioj, but I didn’t regret to leave him for having more allies around during my timezone (eu on a na server), but I’m still missing the people there. I could write a big wall of text, but server identity comes to me with the fun and time you are on it. Breaking already existing long grown structures with a whole new system is a too high risk. Maybe a WoW-system with a flexible realmpool of servers is not so a bad idea. Servers could have still their old name but more variety of foes.
All this I find really annoying too, so +1 from me. One thing I really hate is especially in Dragon Stand, when you got a dc right after the boss fight, you just can’t go back to this instance. The map doesn’t let you join in, even if you are in a group or raid, which is always recommended. This happens at least twice to me, that’s why I rarely play on this map now, all the gametime for nothing. I really do understand, that if you did not beat the boss you shouldn’t get any loot or entrance to the hero points/poi/vistas via the group, but if you have defeated him you should be able to join at least a winner’s instance for the rest of the time, maybe with a slayer’s buff or so.
With only faction, aka deleting the servers, I expect that I’m going to react like in warhammer online years ago, when goa had deleted my home server Helmgart. We had a nice community there, but we have always fought outnumbered on the Order. With deleting helmgart, our community decided to transfer to Erengrad. Which was a huge mistake in my eyes, but the majority wanted so.
At first it was exciting not to lose everytime, but within hours and days, it got more and more boring and a lot of people got angry on every new arriving players , because there weren’t any fights anymore. I quit that game after one week on the new server, because a lot of players spewed insults. Well this game doesn’t exist anymore. Some may like this system, but many players have somehow a connection to their servers. For them it wouldn’t be the same.
It’s depending which profession you play, but learning how to dodge is always a good thing. Keybind this ability, where you can reach it fast. Another helpful tipp is to look into the gameplay-option, and check what you need. If you have a range profession like you should test a little bit around the ground-targeting, there are other helpful options aswell. If you are following a commander, you should definitely go into their ts, otherwise you will miss important messages, for example map change or an u-turn. And you should always look around or otherwise you will be surprised by the enemy.
There was a time were the dev’s and other anet-members have written a lot here in the forum, but this has suddenly stopped for unexplained reasons. You feel the lost, and this feeling is already known for many players from the subforums. A nice warning: Don’t try to necroposting threads with anet answers like it happened in the wvw forum, where the communication is an rarely event. These attention beggings will bring you only this warning:

That’s why I suggested changing scoring and loot, rather than placing some hard cap on numbers or whatever. Make even or outnumbered fights, defense and upgrades, the most profitable things in terms of personal loot and server score, and the issues will take care of themselves.
People don’t get in a huge blob and run over undefended objectives because it’s fun. They do it for the loot, karma, ppt, etc., or they do it because it’s all there is to do. Fix the population / coverage issues, and put the loot where the fun is, and things will improve.
Yeah, I know that, but many people say “break blobs” because they are roamers and hate this part of wvw-gameplay. In my eyes, every part of the wvw-community is equal and no one should preferred or punished for just playing one part. A scout should earn his credits like the blobber.
I find the new walls and gates boring and time consuming, during I like the new keeplords, who doesn’t melt anymore. I would find it better to have more “keeplords” on one or different location within keep or tower (depending on the attackers number, both have to die on the same time to split up forces) and therefore less harder walls and gates, which still could get an upgrade with the time.
The population is something which you can’t really influence at all. One thing is the reputation of wvw community. We are known as rude and toxic, sometimes it’s true, most of the time not. We all have names for randomly and inexperienced players, sometimes we shout (in ts, where they aren’t) about them, but if I compare this with what happens on the pve map which event fails, we are better than our reputation. A friendly communication about that is still the key, even with all the frustration we have after the years, so we don’t scare new players.
The other thing is the loot. Personally I never have been played for that, because I always thought that I have no luck with that. Until yesterday I didn’t play long in wvw for a couple of weeks, but I couldn’t complain about the loot I got, which, well, came mostly from the keeplords and rank chests (one exotic, one ascended weapon chest, 32 Proof of heroics), also we were most of the time less than 10 player (na-server). At the same time, my eu server has a queue. For me is was a better loot than I have received in the pve farm events, which I do since weeks.
I had the same thought like phantom. I have an eu and na account, so I see a lot of difference between the two regions. Both could profit from an alliance system together. The strongest server of one region could help the weakest servers in the other region, but for this we need valid numbers and some tests.
Good thoughts, but I like large scale fights aka blobs (I don’t press just 1), breaking these, I would quit the game permanently. For many players 30-40 is a blob, for me it has the perfect size for nice fights, if they don’t hide every time in an object, that’s why I went to T1, where these zergs were balanced most of the time. Because, many times you can’t defeat (or in other words roflstomp) them all, and so there is still the challenge that they could surprise you and deny your lootbag or chest. I would miss this kind of flurry and relief afterwards when you conquer an object. But I know how it feels, when only one of three servers is karmatraining.
