I just got the “Mini Chromatic Ooze” pet and found a weird graphical glitch. The lower LOD model/animation display some weird spikes, as if some vertices are totally off through some bad calculation, while at higher LOD, when zoomed further in, it looks fine.

I am not sure if ooze-mobs display the same glitch, maybe I just did not notice so far, but for the mini pet it is fairly obvious; even at maximum LOD setting, when I zoom out as far as possible, the “spikes” are visible, at medium or low LOD setting I get them even further in (screenshots take at medium setting).

Update: Found a wild ooze, it had the same bug.

Human female with a great sword. I swear she’s squeaking with nearly every attack, and it definitely doesn’t sound natural. I can’t tell if it’s a bug affecting pitch or using a different voice set or what.

And this. At one point I had a Sylvari Ranger to ~lvl20, when I finally decided to reroll as a different race, the endless pain sounds had become unbearable. I also scrapped my plans for a human female warrior a few minutes after getting my first greatsword, the out of place squeaking sounds or just unacceptible.

Mind explaining how you made the last jump into the face?

Every time I Try I hit a invisible wall and fall into the goo.

Frankly, I have no idea. Did not even know there was a problem. One attempt I ende up at what seemed the end of the path, already wondered what I did wrong, then saw the tower turn around (or the rubble rotating around... yay relativity) so that I could see the window, and thought heck, better than standing here, jumped towards it. Them came a loading screen, I already cursed myself for having botched that one attempt where I finally got that high up... then found myself in the room inside.

Whatever happens is going to be on livestreams instantly and then on YouTube about five minutes later. At least this way, everyone has a chance to experience it in the game, without having it spoiled by the rapid availability of video on the Internet.

While I certainly agree with the prediction, I disagree with the conclusion. It is still by far better to have the event spoiled on youtube (as if you are forced to look it up there beforehand) and then also seen live on your server, than not being able to see it live at all and thus being required to watch it on youtube afterwards.

Don’t worry about candy corn, you’ll get tons of it if you try, I have 3 250 stacks just from doing the 100 doors achievenment.

Wait, what 100 doors achievement? I have yet to have the doors where I trick-or-treated count for anything. Only spawned mobs counted for “Halloween Huntin’”.

@Skeletor: I also tried that, it had no effect whatsoever, whereas it does not matter whether I am wearing the witch costume or not – using another player’s cauldron gives me a random transformation.

First as a disclaimer, I love the event, I love the witch costume, it is both fun and really evil in Costume Brawl. The best part, however, is of course the cauldron.

Here comes the weird thing: It appears when I drink from my own Cauldron, I always become a “witch hylek”, i.e. a green hylek with a witch’ kitten while I see other people being transformed in all sorts of animals, or even a blue ooze (coolest transform ever imo).

It appears intentional, but makes me a bit sad, for I wanted to use the cauldron to turn into random creatures for fun all year round, that’s why I bought the costume in the first place.

Might it be possible to make the transformation from your own cauldrons use the same set of randoms creatures that everyone else gets, and just add the witch hylek in addition as a chance for the witch who made the cauldron?

Pro-Tip for ArenaNet: Stop traps from invoking equipment damage. It is extremely annoying, not just in CoE but also some of the jumping puzzles.

October monthly achievement error. [Merged]

What I find annoying is that I intentionally try to complete daily, weekly, monthly etc quests, achievements etc. as early as possible in that period, in case something comes up later holding me off. For example, what if some serious real life reasons (let’s say long hours at work) keep me from playing during the holiday event, yet I was able to complete the regular monthly survivar on one night at the start of the month already – still get the shaft.

This may sound farfetched, but I had the same thing happen to me in another MMO, where I missed most of a major ingame event due to real life reasons, and if I had been able to complete all major stuff in the first few days, I would not have missed anything. Sigh.

Why Magic Find is a Poor Mechanism

Alternative idea: both in dungeons and dynamic events, average out the magic find across all players present, and let that average value affect everyone. This way people can’t selfishly stack up on magic find for their personal loot over stats that help make the group become stronger in total.

Great work, ArenaNet! It appears the patch today fixed the clipping I posted a few days ago almost completely.

The first screenshot shows what still occurs shortly when sheathing the weapon; drawing it goes off flawlessly.
The second screenshot shows what still happens when casting Fireball, other spells do not appear to cause clipping any more.

Other than that, I see no signs of said pants clipping with the built-in skirt any more.

Getting a specific endless tonic

After opening about 20 Black Lion Chests and (not surprisingly) getting no endless tonic, I would love to have a way of getting those without invoking the RNG.

- Sell them directly on the Gem Store. I am certainly not the only one who would pay real money for that. I am not going to buy dozens of keys in hope that one might drop (and then it might be one I don’t even want), but I would definitely buy an endless ooze tonic, for example, if it were sold directly.
- Additionally or alternatively, let us to combine a large number (let’s say 100) of a specific normal tonic into an endless version of it (no RNG!).

See also my signature. Ideally waypoints should just be free. But I suppose ArenaNet is not going to change that, ever, as it appears to be an integral part of their gold sink policy (sigh), I want at least equal crutches around that for everyone.

Fort Trinity Portals - Unfair

So it appears you can go from Fort Trinity to any of the faction HQs, but once you leave the portal room, you cannot go back unless it is your own faction’s HQ. Which means that each order has a distinctively different place where to get in order to teleport inexpensively to Fort Trinity, and thus to Orr.

- Order of Whispers: Just leave Lion’s Arch to the south, swim a few meters and there you are.
- Vigil: Leave Lion’s Arch to the north, hike a considerable bit to the keep, use the portal.
- Durmand Priory: Hike through two zones, of of them prohibitively limited in the possible paths (i.e. follow a snaking route that is not even safe from mobs).

Given the prohibitive waypoint costs at high levels, having access to a free portal to the entrance of Orr is a big advantage, which only one order gets, another order gets a portal a few minutes away from Lion’s Arch, and the third order need not even bother going to their portal because it is placed so badly.

I hereby request that upon gaining access to the Fort Trinity portals, all players should be able to access all the factions’ portals for the sake of fairness. Alternatively, a portal from Lion’s Arch directly to Fort Trinity would also suffice, of course.

Well I find it a bit annoying, since I actively completed it on day 1 after the monthly reset. If they really replace it with something event-related I have to whatever it requires me to do, which could be anything from trivial to ultra-annoying. -_-

Character: asura, female, elementalist

The item ‘Vital Country Pants’ shows heavy clipping with itself, more precisely between the short skirt and the pants underneath. On my character its design is transmuted on level 78 green pants (see first screenshot). The clipping occurs during many animations, including weapon draw and sheathe (included as an example in the screenshots) and most spellcasting.

The weird thing is, I did not notice this until today. I have been wearing these pants since very early, probably before level 20, and always kept the design through transmutation. When I saw the clipping, I immediately wondered whether this is some new bug, because I suppose I would have noticed earlier, but I am not 100% sure whether it is actually new or whether I was just too dumb to see it before. Now it cannot be unseen and is nagging at my eyes constantly.

Edit: I just double-checked my “animation” video setting, as it claims to affect cloth animation. It is set to “high”, as it has always been, and I even set it to low and back to high to see whether that would do anything, but it did not change anything in regards to the clipping bug.

Yepp, I see it as their specific style, and like it quite a lot. I would be rather annoyed if they suddenly changed it to make it more human-like.

While the premise of this mission was great (hop into a golem battlesuit, ambush an Inquest caravan), the execution was severaly lacking:

- The Hazmat Suit is incredibly weak. The damage it does is pathetic, the global cooldowns give it an incredibly slow combat pacing, completely opposite to the rest of the game, and weaken it further. (The same applies to the asura battlesuit elite skill, by the way)

- The enemies are quick and nimble. More often than not, they jump away or around you so that your attacks miss completely, making the fight even more frustrating.

- The fight felt like I was a stupid, slow, and far too weak bossmob while the NPCs behaved like players, attacking, dodging and generally out-maneuvering me. This situation would have been fine if the Hazmat Suit were actually powerful and durable (I am talking about one-hit kills against the Inquest guys), but the way this fight is set up, I was really wondering whether the point of the mission was for the NPCs to have all the fun, not me.

- To alleviate this situation, I had to run away twice so that the mobs resettet, and had to completely sacrifice Zojja one time in order to get away. I would have rather exited the battlesuit and fought normally, but the mission did not allow this.

- In the end I was wondering why Zojja even brought the suits? The ambush would have been far easier without them. The Rule of Cool does not work if the implementation severely weakens you.

But the most frustrating part of the entire thing: why don’t other NPCs behave like the Inquest mobs in this? Jumping away, evading attacks, rolling around you to strike you in the back. The mission demonstrated some missed potential, both inside the mission and in the rest of the game.

I support this thread. As my first alt, I originally wanted to create a female human warrior. I deleted that character shortly after the intro when I got my first greatsword and heard the very noises demonstrated in the sound clip of the OP. These sounds are unacceptable, and I would even suggest that the bad sounds (as marked in the clip) just be removed entirely.

P.S.: While I also support a separate volume slider for the combat voices, I still want the offending sounds removed, because I have no problem with the sounds of other races, even like some very much (female asura, for example, sound just adorable), and don’t want to be forced to turn combat voices off just to be able to stand playing a female human warrior.
