Transmutation stones no longer work?

I’ve been back several weeks now and am still learning changes to the game. Today’s surprise was my level 50-something thief could not transmute a skin she has unlocked to a better hat that dropped. The skin came from the hat she was already wearing.

I get the process to accept doing it, but want’s a transmutation “charge” as payment. Charges, as I read them, replaced whatever the transmutation items the 80’s needed, which in most cases meant obtained from the gem store.

But “stones” were for lowbies, who could transmute cost free using the frequently dropped transmutation stones.

So, are lowbie tranmutations no longer free, or is there a tradein for the stones somewhere, or some other free method I’ve missed finding?

What is the name of the ring that you are unable to salvage/sell?

It is most likely a Karma item, which can only be thrown into the Mystic Forge when you are done with it.

It is a Powerful Ring, 20 Power, 28 Precision, with a Carnelian Nugget in the upgrade slot.
The descriptor in the lower left corner (4 lines) reads Rare, Ring, Required Level:47, Soulbound. There is no value on the 5th line.

It was replaced by a Strong Ring, 32 Power, 23 Precision, nothing so far in the upgrade slot. It’s descriptor reads Rare, Ring, Required Level:53, Soulbound, and a value of 2s12c

The other hand ring is a Penetrating Ring, slightly different stats as the Strong, level 48, soulbound, with a value of 1s80c.

All three share the same graphic: a plain gold ring.

When I read the ring list on the wiki, the ring is not listed.

I cannot certify where she got it other than to say if was a drop. I do not buy anything for the Nth character when I am leveling it, with either karma or gold. They subsist on drops, and each drop is compared with what they are wearing, and if better, it goes on. I merchant or salvage the displaced item. I run the Maw with her religiously, because of the automatic rare, after first running it with an 80 to harvest the bonus at level 80. Thus she eventually has a rare in every slot, some a few levels behind her and probably not the perfect stat package. However, they are plenty good enough for Veterans and below on harvesting duty. She picks fights with veterans and adds just to make sure I half way understand how to play that class. If she falls far behind in gear level, I have all 8 crafters as high as they can go, and could stop and craft something for her, but so far I’ve not. Mid level harvesting just isn’t that tough a duty.

It is certainly not a karma purchase. I have the usual zillion excess karma that everyone has that’s played the game a while, but the only karma expenditures I’ve done in my lifetime in the game are the underwater breathers (7 at 1445 each) from the guy out in Cursed Shore, before some started showing up in the game, and 300 obsidian shards (3 visits) from the karma merchant in the Temple of Bathlthazar to craft ascendeds.

Thanks for the ideas. I know it’s not a big deal, but it’s a curosity, so kinda interesting.

It depends on the ring’s origin. Karma bought items, for instance, cannot be sold or salvaged. I think this also applies to a number of the level-up rewards we now get. Since you’re leveling, likely you got it on one of your dings. Those give pretty sweet gear for the level now, but the tradeoff is you don’t get to profit from it other than by however more efficient it makes you at killing and looting.

Actually, it was a drop from the Maw, and I replaced it with a similar drop several days later, after I’d leveled 5 levels.

I’m actually not in a hurry to level this one, as it’s the 8th, with one of each class. So I run the Maw to gear her up with the rare drops, selling the misfits. Otherwise I confine her to gathering mid level wood and ore as needed for ascended mats. She’s regularly sold her displaced gear, or salvaged it, and this is the first time she can’t.

There are so many new bugs being injected into the game (stackable items that suddenly won’t stack, etc) I tend to think it must be just another bug. However, I find that many “bugs” are simply not understanding how things work and thought to ask. This one certainly is puzzling.

Raising my 8th toon, replaced a level 47 rare ring with another one of a higher level. I knew I could not sell the soulbound one on the Black Lion, so expected to salvage it. No joy. No salvage kit up through Masters will touch it. Tried to sell it on the merchant, but no joy. Would not even show up on the sell list. In fact, unlike the other two soulbound rare rings the toon has, this one won’t even show a merchant value when I mouseover it.

What am I missing?

I’m not sure this is something new. I have a personal Guild; I do the exact same things every day, and sometimes I show 5 log-ins, and sometimes (rarely) none. Anything in-between comes up fairly regularly. /shrug

I’m not sure it’s new, but it’s new in my history as shown in guild history. I would not have noticed, either, but I’m helping another set up a personal guild, and they were having trouble getting login experience to show, so I looked at mine. Yikes….me neither.
But my guld history changed rather abruptly recently, e ven though I didn’t change my nightly routine, so thought to ask.

Thanks for all the comments, but I think we’re back to the OP title: What constitutes a login for influence purposes?

Probably bugged. I had one stretch of time where my personal guild was showing influence for events done, but none for chars logging in.

It may not be instantaneous too. Possibly the char has to be logged on for X amount of time. The game may only take a census periodically and if you log on and off between the census time, it won’t count. My theory of it, anyway.

I’d go with the census, except my play time is around 4 hours starting about an hour before reset. That would be prime time on the east coast, and if a census skipped most of that time period, it’s poorly designed.

I run a short dozen WBs, the daily, and gathering runs for ascended mats (ore, wood, empyerals in chest) and the chars are parked semi permanently at locations to do the above. SometimesI zerg Silverwastes or WvW in lieu of a hour’s worth of WB’s. All get in game somewhere between and after WB fights for their various duties.

Besides, a census time gate would be a deliberate bug, since it violates the notion ANET is inferring when they say you get points for login.

OTOH, it sure looks like one.

Check to make sure all your characters are representing——I once found them changed to not representing , I know I didn’t change them.

Yes, I did that a few days ago, before posting here. All have the option to stand down, and all can edit the daily message. That’s the test I did, and believe it represents that they are in and representing.

I also made sure they not only logged in, but did a “football action” like doing an event, or at least gathering a wood or ore run, not merely logging in. Still, I never get credit for more than 4 per day, despite there being 8 of them.

For purposes of calculating guild influence earned by players logging in, what constitutes a login?

I have a 1 person guild (down from half a dozen at launch) with 8 characters on my account, 7 of which are level 80. Almost all log in daily, and all are certified to be in the guild and representing it.

Influence is supposed to be earned by up to 5 characters from an account, so a total of 50 daily (max). As far back as I can see in the history panel, I’ve gotten 50. Events give influence, and I generally wind up averaging around 120 daily, but the logins are shown separately.

Since the now infamous March 16 patch, I’ve gotten credit for less than 5 every day but one. Once I noticed it, I made sure all 8 were logged in and did some event too. I get event influence, but never reach 50 login influence any day of the last week. I’ve gotten 40 or even 30 earned per day.

This bug might go unnoticed in larger guilds where they might not know if they are being underreported by 20%-40%, vs low attendance but it’s easy to see in mine.

Is there something I don’t understand about logins, or something that was deliberately changed in the patch, or is it just bugged?

Orr maps have 5 ori ore and 4 ancient log nodes. SSC and FGS both have two of each which SSC does have that rich one by the champ.

Yes, TY. Back when I was gearing all the toons to exotic I ran those zones regularly on the toons with run speed enhanced. After I got the exotic weapons/armor/jewelry, the oric and ancient runs slowed down a lot, since there was no pressing need for them in ascended, and the runs for open world chests (empyreal fragments) began. I’d only do FG for oric and ancient, and then right after the Jormag fight, as I have a toon there. If the run proved relatively quick, I’d log other toons in to run it just to keep around a stack of each in the bank.

Left for 10 months, came back, and no joy on the post Jormag runs, and a new draw on oric and ancient: Sinister gear for a couple of them, and crafted backpacks. Ergo the OP.

Bank inventory stacking items

Let me get this straight.

I want to put some items in my inventory into an extant stack in my bank. To do so, I have to first remove the stack from my bank, put it into my inventory and either log out to character select and back in on the same char, stack them in inventory then put into bank.

OR… after moveing everything to my inventory in two stacks, I can zone to another map, zone back to the map with the bank, run back to the bank, then put the stacks into the bank.

I would never have thought to implement it that new way in the patch, since it worked fine before the patch. I think I’d just have gone with the way it was already working, and spent the energy fixing other bugs, or adding new content. To each their own, I guess.

I was looking for a thread to add to, rather than starting a new “no longer stacks” thread of my own. Yours is the first I came to, so here it is.

The Scrolls of Knowledge dropped after the mid March patch do not stack with the pre patch Scrolls. Not in the bank, not in a character’s bags. I now have a stack of 174 of the old kind, and 10 of the new kind.

Ditto for Mystic Forge Stones. One dropped in today’s daily for me, and starts a new stack. I have 133 of the prepatch kind, and 1 of the new kind. They read identically until the last line. The new one says account bound. The older one says account bound on acquire. I see no difference, and do not understand why either of these two simple items should not stack.

If you gather from the maps often enough you should eventually get a feel for where all the nodes are. The subset of node locations per map instance is random but the full set of possible locations haven’t changed since release.

I’d had quite a bit of gathering experience before leaving (7 chars fully exotic, 7 or 8 ascended 2H’s or coats) so I knew where they all were some time back, as well as the T2-T5 runs in lower zones. That was then and this is now, and I wasn’t finding them with any reliability at all in FG.

So got help from here, picked out what I needed to update my understanding of what’s going on, and passed back that some times of day we can still run several chars to the same nodes, albeit only 2 nodes of each type now. I had 1+ stacks of each in the bank, so was just learning what ANET had changed.

The game has gone from barely beating the time limit with 8 players on the Frozen Maw, to killing it within 15 seconds of it becoming vulnerable. I don’t mind having more help around, but I wish they’d actually scale things better.

Armor enhancement with sinister stats?

I can confirm that in the middle of the afternoon eastern time, and at a time no where remotely near Jormag’s spawning, I got 2 each of each type on 7 chars by just logging in one after the other and running to them. Waiting until the zone spawned on new IP’s , but prior to reset, resulted in finding the nodes in different locations, but shown as harvested.

Thanks. Basically you both are saying they work the same as ever, I just wind up “guesting” on another server, hence different node location. Multiple times per day comes from somebody’s character hitting different servers, once each.

I’m still not sure why I only find one or two nodes per run. I look visually at the screen as well as the mini map in the corner. I’ve done the runs literally hundreds of times in the past and never been limited to finding only one node. Missing one now and then I write off to inattention.

I’m beginning to suspect some sort of lag in updating the nodes themselves into the scene. The scene is completely rendered, not blinking, but I’ve found I see things pop into the mini map behind me. When I turn and look, there it is, clearly, and in a place I could not possibly have missed as I ran by. Delayed pop, seems like. Maybe I’m running too fast, as I’m usually training, but nothing else but the nodes is popping into the scene as it’s been rendered well before I get to it.

I have recently returned. I understand there are megaservers, with nodes at different places. I think I understand they can be harvested more than once a day.

Previously, I’d find 3 log and 3 ore nodes on the north portion of the map. I’d harvest with several characters at the end of the evening, and quit. I accept I’ll have to hunt afresh on each character I log.

Occasionally in the past I’d run the route and not find all 6 nodes. However, now I find 1 or 2 total commonly. So, with that, I have the following questions.

1. are there still 3 nodes of each type, or some other number?
2. are they located at in new areas on the map, not previously utilized for nodes?
3. what is the approximate respawn time now?
4. if a 2nd character manages to log into the same IP, would the nodes be where they were 5 minutes earlier?

Zones in Orr also dropped oric and ancient, usually with 5 nodes each. Do these nodes work the same way as the new Frostgorge?

Thanks. I posted a watcher in zone just off the final Temple. Came back in the evening and the temple was clear. Picked up 200 obsidian shards, enough for now.

I’m familiar with the game but have been away a while, and am looking to understand the changes. I found GW2stuff timers gone, which were a major boon to small servers.

I’m still adapting to the changes and learning where the Dulfy timers start and the meta event typical durations in today’s environment.

ANET counts the number of times you do the same event in a row? That’s to prohibit what hard to imagine exploit?

I have several characters, and tend to park some where a WB fight is short duration, and the run in from the zone in WP is long. That way if I am coming in hot from another fight, I shorten the lost time by avoiding the run in. The Dredge meets that criteria. However, I do others like that (i.e. Fire Shaman) without the same failure but on different toons.

Your explanation doesn’t cover the cases of the last week. 4 kills the same night, the last one resulting in the event and bonus chests. He never left the campsite between. I have multiple examples of that with the Eng/Dredge combo.

I know it’s something other than failure to compete in the fight the required time or energy, and it’s not D/C since I get the champ chest. Perhaps, since there’s no merchant nearby, I don’t even bring him out for days until bag overflow forces it, and perhaps it’s duration of the camp, not number of runs. I’ll pull him out nightly and clear his bags and see if that clears it up.

I’ve probably killed the Dredge over a hundred times since I started running WB’s on a nightly basist. I’ve parked my engineer at the Dredge site and have had occasional problems in recent months , getting worse about the time the holiday patch came in, and now it’s really bad.

I get into the fight early, fight continously, get the champion chest but NOT the event chest or the daily bonus chest, even though I’m well past the WB reset. I decided to troubleshoot it one week, and killed it 4 times one night, all after reset, got 4 champion chests and finally on the last kill got the event chest and bonus. That fight was the worst in terms of time of participation as I was coming off another fight and got there late, not really expecting even the champ chest.

He’s full exotic with a couple of pieces of ascended jewelry, so not undergeared. He’s rifle equipped, and 20/20/30/0/0 specced. When troubleshooting I made sure not to short cut any aspect of the fight and have damage numbers boiling off him. No joy. It’s almost if I’ve already killed it since reset. Thinking the reset might be 24 actual hours, I returned the next evening and got the kill the first try, well before the 24 hours, but about 15 mins after the nightly WB reset. For the rest of the week got the event chest with one kill, until last night when again it took 4 tries, all of which were quality efforts. I can’t guess a cause of this.

Any ideas?

Whats happend to the map

Maps take for ever to load.
Ever since the last update.
Is it just me or do any1 else have the same problem?

Not 100% of the time, but frequently, the map is slow to load, then is grossly pixelated, finally loading totally after a several second delay.

I thought the map was clientside with only the volatile stuff sent from the client, but whatever it is, it’s caused by something ANET did in the last few patches, either the regular one of the several emergency ones.

Not to be confused with the bugged event of Sept 21-25th, which got fixed, the FE is bugged again. Same bug as before…the FE is spawned during the golem cleanup event, and then dissappears when the fight should start, reverting to the dead time broadcast.

Marketing will announce, then you’ll find programming had no intent of it working that way. What then follows is they will retro the announcement to say "if it didn’t harvest oricalcum or before the change, it can’t be made to do so after.

Yes. I almost wrote a duplicate of your post a few days back.

I get those symptoms always for the Frozen Maw, and sometimes from a couple of other bosses. I’ve been disconnected repeatedly during those conditions, and lost credit for the fight more than once. I also see lots of comments in chat that would indicate we are not alone.

Something serious changed when the Teq update went live that exacerbated symptoms that were always there occasionally, to become predictably common.

4 day weekend at Arenanet? FE is now borked for 4 days, including all of Monday and Tuesday.

The Golem Mark II has also been borked on Devona’s rest for 22 hours now.

Thanks for the report, this is a tricky one. We will continue looking into it. If you ever have more information on this bug like for example reproducible steps, go ahead and post them here!

The game ignores keys when it gets into a heavy load situation. This affects many things, and I believe it to be the root cause here.

Or actually, the root cause is not the keys being ignored, but the front end design of your system that takes inputs from users off the internet.

Hey folks,

Just a bit of clarification here – Items that were soulbound prior to the change are still soulbound.

I hope this clears things up.

Since armor becomes soulbound upon wearing it, 99.99% of the population is screwed. Can you imagine someone obtaining MF armor and NOT wearing it sometime during their game history?

So ANET’s announcement should have read: " If you have never used your MF armor, it will revert to account bound. Most of you, however, will have to just eat it, since it’s likely soulbound. Sorry we couldn’t think of any way to make this change without pain to most of the population. The more you spent on the MF armor set, the more your pain.

Also notice, using even the poorest MF armor set got you well above 100MF. With this new, exciting change, you are reduced to 20.

Where is the explanation as to why this change had to be made?

Ditto here. Lost lots of what I did over the weekend. Had 3 tiers of champions done, got zeroed. Got veterans as a new choice, of course with none done. The list of choices also got shortened.

My monthly had rolled over correctly on Sept 1, and I was advancing well since it was a weekend/holiday.

Did Sept 1 come later in Seattle? or did they deliberately drop champions since they were easy to complete with the zergfest?

You don’t seriously expect a game with no monthly fee to have the same level of support as a game making over $180 million a month now do you? when you charge a monthly fee and over charge your players, you can afford to hire telephone support 24/7.
As to the time, if you had submitted a support ticket in the first place you would probably already have an answer. It is the weekend, outside normal business hours so the live chat would not have done you any good even if it was still available.

I expected it only because they said they had it.

Michael, I hope this clarifies the situation.
Each GW2 game serial code is associated with its own account. Each account has its own email address associated with it. You cannot link multiple GW2 serial codes to a single account/login. Everything is separate.

You owned one serial code/copy of the game. Let’s call that “Copy1”

  • Copy1 has an email address associated with it.
  • Copy1 also has its own forum account and forum username associated with it.
  • Copy1 also has its own support account that is linked to the email address.
  • Copy1’s support account login credentials should be created with a different password than the game login credentials for security reasons.

At this point you have an error. Copy 1 cannot be supported with a support account that uses it’s email address. You will not be able to create a support account without a 2nd email address, a rather bizarre situation. One can create different usernames, different passwords, etc, but still will get an error message if you use the account email. Since I have only one public facing email account, I chose to see if there was a live contact method, which would expedite the process.

This was my first foray into a 2nd GW2 account, and then my first need of support. It unearthed the requirement to create 2 email addresses, one to support Copy 1, then one to register Copy 2. There is also the implicit requirment to create still a 3rd email account should Copy 2 need suppost. I’m deciding at the moment what to do on that matter.

I understand completely how to create more email addresses, redirect email addresses, etc. but also know the perils of dragging an evergrowing list of emails behind me, all of which need some sort of servicing regularly.

Michael — I want to thank you for pointing out those very old threads that refer to “Live Help.” That system hasn’t been available in a very long time, for we found that the wait times and the slowness of issue resolution made the entire concept less than effective. (In fact, I noticed your comments about the very same thing, so I imagine you’ve had negative experiences with other companies and their telephone or chat help.)

Au contraire. I’ve had several accounts on both those 8 year running MMO’s, and while 45 minute wait times are normal, another half an hour and it’s fixed.

I’m already 12 hours into this problem, and it’s not even started being resolved. It would be trivial via phone. You offer a link for me to consult if the problem runs more than 3 days after I finally get it submitted. A day to get the problem into the hopper and 3 days to resolve it does not compare favorably to the other guy’s 45 minute wait on the phone, no matter how sarcastically we whine about it.

Submitting a ticket really is faster and the outcomes are more accurate. I’ve edited the post in which there was mention of “Live Help” so that there is no confusion about the matter.

As I understand it, to submit a ticket I must register a support account, and since it rejects my current (and only) email address as being used by another account (to wit, my game account) I seem to need to get another email address just for the support ticket? Is this true? It makes so little sense I think I must be doing something wrong.

Please advise

You can not link two GW2 accounts, as far as I know, so that is where the difficulties started. You can only link a GW2 account to a GW1 account. You can contact support by email at this address: support@guildwars2.com

If one can’t do it, the software should not allow anything to happen, and I’d figure it out from there.

The directions imply you can link an account to a GW1 account, OR, you can upgrade an existing account.

What it did was to get rid of my old display name and replace it with a new one, all for the price of a new game.

Frankly, I like the old name, and certainly wouldn’t pay the cost of a new account to change it.

Fortunately I did not lose my characters, just my money.

As it’s been posted numerous times, there is no contact number for support. But there is an email address you can email them if you can’t access the support sight. I would try that. The forums aren’t monitored for support requests, only when a request was made, and there is an issue with that. They can’t create your ticket for you.

I understand there is no contact number. I merely opined I’d like to do it , since all the games Arenanet wishes GW2 to be like do have such numbers.

However, quoting the Support Forum Laison, Gaile Gray, in a stickied post on this forum:

“Submit a ticket using the “Ask a Question” tab on this page: http://support.guildwars2.com/ Please read the Announcements at the top of the front page, and remember to use the search engine before you post or enter Live Help.”

The implication is that there is live chat, probably online, and that prompted my question.

I purchased and attempted to register a 2nd account. I chose the option to link it to my first account, but only succeeded in getting a new display name for my 1st account. (the Muchael.9403 is about 1 hour old, you are seeing my first use of it, but my original game account and all my previous posts under that display name have been insta-converted to the new display name.

My current cast of 5 heros seems to be safe, under my old userid and password but new display name.

However, I have now 2 Serial Codes, but only one account I can play I would like to get that fixed. I can readily prove who I am in real life and prove that I bought them to the support people if I only could contact them.

I go to the support and try to put in a ticket, but it requires a support ID and password. My current id and password that get me into the game andinto the forums won’t work, so I dutifully try to create a new one. It won’t give me a new one because if finds another account has my email. Of course it does. I only have one email and my game account has is, as does my forum account. So, can’t login to support because can’t create an ID. I’m not going to make a fake email address just to contact support.

Any ideas on how to get support help?

What I’d really like is to call some support number, wait the requisite 45 mins for someone to answer, deal with them for half an hour, and have this all fixed. Or the equivalent with online chat.

I see occasional indications that there is a Live Support, but find no way to reach it. Help on this would be appreciated too.

At the moment I’ve spent my money and am stalled out, not being able to even send in a suport request other than this forum.

The Jubilee dailies are in the daily category. They have the Jubilee achievement icon.

This appears to be the right answer. I just took a balloon ride, one I’d already taken, so didn’t increment anything but the daily requirement.

My total for Queen’s Jubilee advanced +1

Thanks for the info. It was useful to finish the event, although I haven’t the slightest understanding of why I would want a minature.

Max number of clones/phantasms?

Okay, the above answers correspond to what I see except for the server lag effects.

One test I did in several of the boss fights was to get 3 pistol phantoms up, then switch to greatsword and get the berserker up. I’ve seen all 4, then one of the pistols will evaporate.

Since the pistol one won’t disappear until the server tells it to, and the servers struggle with the boss fights, the dissipate command just got delayed a bit, so 4 were there for a few seconds.

Does the mix matter? i.e. 3 clones + 3 phantasms, but not 4 of either?

I’m fairly sure I’ve seen more than 3. This is hard to test as it needs something like a world boss to last long enough for them not to die when it does. Those fights are lagfests, so hard to count accurately.

I understand 3 get shattered, and it doesn’t matter if they are clones or phantasms. 3 is the max that contribute to shattering damage but if not shattered, how many can coexist?

Anyone know for sure the max number at one time?

What was last POI added to game?

I finished ’Been there, Done That" a few months ago, got the reward(s), etc. When I went to the map, it always showed 100% complete. Now I show 99%, and show a POI as missing. What was the last POI added to the game? It must have been since I completed the maps.

Also, it is NOT the one added in Ascalon, as that one was an issue for me the first time through, and I have it. Something has been added since.

Zones can reset due to unexpected glitch or circumstances. It’s like a portion of the server had crashed.

If it’s a zone crash that’s causing the reset, then it happens 2-3 times per week. I haven’t seen it during busy times (near the 24 hour rollover), when you might expect it, but often see it in the a.m. as if something happened/didn’t happen overnight that hung it up. That’s why I’m searching for something related to a time when the server is poorly populated. OTOH, this server isn’t heavily populated even at rush hour.

As I mentioned above, there certainly are enough bugs in the game that crash resetting the meta event is possible, for sure.

Anyway, if that’s the answer, one can’t go do an event and fix it. Like when the irritating but chronic new builds drop into the game during prime time on the east coast, we just have to wait until the new interal timer puts out a tick on the API that the timer websites can pick up on to rerail.

I don’t believe the individual zones reset either, but don’t know for sure. If they do, then that’s a valid guess, but not my leading one.

I’ll verify FE being blocked by some event in some other room or that robot event in the nearly village when I can get to it. At the moment I’d guess there is a similar event somewhere near Shatterer that’s the cause.

Blazeridge Steppes zone in your server may had crashed and reset. That may explain why the Shatterer timer are way off on GW2 timer websites.

Or the zone instance may have shutdown when all players left it until the first player enters, bringing up the new zone instance. I’m not entirely sure if this mechanic is true though.

Zone reset is a plausible idea.

The counterargument would be that I have observed the Shatterer overrunning it’s timer by more than it’s 3 hour dead time, (one observation was 7 hours late) which would suggest that it’s not due to zone reset. I.e. the zone would come back up and 3 hours later it would be back on track vis a vis the API output. Accepting the zone reset argument would also imply that for some reason Blazeridge Steppes has a regular zone reset problem, while the other zones do not, something I think is unlikely.

I’m still hoping someone who knows the events in the zone better than I will chime in with “oh, yeah, if you don’t clear the rock dogs out of the cave for Matilda then the Shatterer event won’t spawn” or somesuch.

I work at home, have several computers in operation, and one has GW2 up just to check what’s on. Shatterer just unhung (noon) and is in prep after being hung up since around 8 a.m. FE was also hung up at 8, cleared sometime midmorning, got done, and is currently hung again for over an hour. I’ve not had time to check on your suggestion above that some other undone room event is the cause.

I will add that FE hangs up more times per week than does Shatterer, but because both were hung up this morning when I logged in, I wrote the OP around them.

Fire Elemental gets blocked by the random things that pop up in the various chambers; the oakheart in the poison chamber for example. I don’t know whether to count them as pres or not. And then after that there’s the chaotic material event but I’d consider that a true pre since Rooba is ready to go as soon as its done. I’m not aware of any others though.

I can’t speak to the Shatterer, because in my experience he is by far the most punctual event out there. The pre for him (escort and collection) starts exactly when the timer says it will. Only question is how long collection takes; if too many people try to do it, the required number of parts scales way up but the number of available parts doesn’t, so you have a ton of people waiting for ghosts and parts to respawn. I’ve never been aware of any blocking events.

I agree that the chaotic material is the opening event of the FE chain. The stuff in the rooms being the blocker is what I was looking for. I’ll check them the next time I see the event off schedule per the API markers.

I wrote the OP because both were a few hours off schedule at that moment. The FE subsequently came unhung, the chaotic event was offered, and the chain proceeded normally. The Shatterer is still hung with the normal pre event (collection) not being offered.

As I said, these circumstances happen a few times a week, probably due to declining populations not working the blocking events in the normal process of leveling up, and we who visit the bosses in the process of gathering globs don’t know what the hangup is.

I understand the true pre events and their various timelines. Currently on Devona’s rest, the 3 hour dead time for the Shatterer has passed, and the normally 5 minute window for the Shatterer has been open for 2 hours and 30 minutes, and NO pre event has been offered. Something is hanging it up, which is the point of my OP. Within a few hours it will unhang and the normal pre will be offered, and when done, he will spawn.

Ideas on what is hanging it up?

For example, in the case of the Great Jungle Wurm, an escort quest of Gamarien kicks off the sequence leading to the appearance of the Wurm. But if the camp where Gamarien resides is under assault or is being held by the Nightmare Court, he will not offer the quest, and the sequence is blocked. An event must be done to keep the camp free or to free it. This situation can’t rightly be called a prequel event, as defending the camp or freeing it won’t necessarily result in Gamarien offering the quest unless the timers were already disposed to do so.

With that in mind, I’ve noticed that both the Fire Elemental and the Shatter meta events tend to overrun their normal open windows by several hours. This will happen several times a week. Does anyone know of an event that must be done to unblock those meta event sequences from starting? They eventually unlock on their own and proceed, after a random but long delay. If more of us knew the blocking event, we’d do it and kick the Boss event sequence off.

Ideas?

Error message keeps prompting

This problem happened occasionally yesterday, and chronically today. Logging in, changing to a different character, or opening the Black Lion window cause it to happen every time. Merely waiting 5-6 minutes will also cause it. US Server/Continental US user.

Elsewhere I note the API server is down, and has been for a while.
