Make the useless Asura elite skill Combat suit a Racing suit, remove the silly weak abilities and give it speedboosts, the ability to jump and spawn 2 or 3 of them for you and your friends.
Watch golem races
About flying mounts:
Why so hesitant? It is basically underwater combat in the air, and as far as I am concerned the underwater combat mechanics work just fine.
Make a level above the Tyria level and disable flying mounts on the Tyria level thus eliminating the problem of people flying up to Vistas or exploiting it in other ways.
Where can you enter this flying realm? From any of the already existing helicopter pods in the world, mostly Orr.
Fortunately at the moment, with this kind of set up, mounts aren’t needed as the waypoints are so tight.
My point is, I want my racing golem suit.
Aoe, immobilize, and with the torch a nice one target hit and aoe burning, with the spirit hammer as a knockdown and if you’d like the sword for additional damage or aoe, of course you will be doing more damage against burning foes.
put a nice something in both weapons and you can add some other nice effects.
works well in PvE, even though I prefer the greatsword, has a nicer skin. In PvP add a signet and you have 3 stoppers, just to make sure.
it’s quite alright from a gameplay point of view I’d say. And regarding the “personality” of a guardian, it kind of works better for me than the idea of a bow…
Gotta say though, it looks weird on taller races than Asura
Didn’t know we had melee-only classes?
If you wanna go into close combat, you can, for about 3-4 dodges which you have in total, inlcuding their recharge time.
And it gets better, you won’t take any other damage at all!
It’s a fairly easy task to survive if you don’t try to stay in close combat without your “invulnerability spells” recharged against a Giant who is 5-20 times as tall as you (depending on Asura or Norn Perspective) .
It’s common sense, I think? I mean, there are lots of other people fighting that Giant too, just take turns in “tanking” him, because that’s kind of what it sounds like you are trying to do.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the fight is very enjoyable from the gameplay perspective. Visually its a different story obviously and I like this kind of eye candy in GW2. Like other events.
I don’t think either that there is much to change in the behaviour of this Giant, he’s one after all.
Anet could add other mechanics though, timed or health based. For instance, the last survivors of this village are preparing to throw ropes at him to pull him down for…10 seconds? during that time the melee classes could hit him without worries.
Similar to some dragon lieutenants…
You are right though, there is barely any context to the fight for people who arrive late and this shows in other parts of the game too unfortunately.
