You can buy Living Story updates that you have missed with the in game currency “Gems”. You can also buy gems with real life money. Or you can buy gems with Gold that you have earned while playing the game, depending on your financial situation I suppose.

There is an additional skill and some more goodies (rewards? nothing OP though) for the digital deluxe edition but here as well, you will be able to upgrade this with gems.

Issues with graphical stutters

Michael Walker.8150

hey

Is it like you are having 30 fps and then for no obvious reason it drops to around 8 or so?

check this first, see which graphic card is being used when in game
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4152

your mac has 2 graphic cards, one is the amd radeon and the other one is an intel graphic processor on the motherboard(?) and it switches between them depending on how demanding a program is to save power and keep the mac cooler.
so for some reason it switches to the weaker intel graphic while in game.

here are two programs that might solve your problem.

the first one lets you lock the graphic card is being used, so it can’t switch
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4347989?tstart=0
http://www.heise.de/download/gfxcardstatus-1174053.html (no idea why it links a german site, its trustworthy though, otherwise google for “gfxCardStatus 2.3”

now simply set the graphic card to the radeon card

you can use this program to set the fans to a higher speed if you like too better control the heat (not really necessary i think)

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23049/smcfancontrol

hope this helps

//edit
a SMC reset might be necessary, there are instructions on the apple support page

Hi Mark!

I get your intentions but drawing attention to threads with a dev post on issues that were to be addressed is not bad per se or should be punished as long as it contributes to the issue still at hand.

This is easily done if players would instead of “+1” compile all changes made, which ones are still to be resolved and then post a comprehensive analysis or feedback.
Since those issues have been noticed by devs it can be valuable for them also to get a more up to date feedback instead of having to rely on year(s) old information.

Nobody stops you from deleting posts that don’t contribute anything and even allowing users to necro threads every other month means you can still delete all subsequent posts.

It is your job as a moderator to be able to communicate rules as well as it is your job and privilege to decide if feedback is valuable and when a thread has truly ran its course.
Locking all necro threads might have been necessary at that time but it’s not a viable strategy for longer terms.
Choosing the harder road of keeping up with deleting posts could contribute more to a good forum environment than the benefit you get from not having to delete any more posts (You know this is not true anyway).

Even though what some users might say, this forum is more mature and friendly than others. There seem to be a an effort to create a friendly environment in the forums while giving enough freedom to users to express themselves.

*Talk about it again with the moderator team and if you can’t come up with a feasible solution to these issues, do the thread locking. *

have a good one

Running in bootcamp?

hey padreviejo,

I don’t know what components you are going to use for your upgrade but running bootcamp on mac works great usually.
Just switched back from the Mac Beta (it’s advertised as a beta but it is the windows GW2 in a wine wrapper) to Windows/bootcamp and it’s like day and night.
It’s really about you buying windows which is up to 2-6 times of what GW2 costs.

Since you have real graphics cards in there, it sure is worth thinking about it anyway.

Just to be sure, what specs does/will the powermac have? Maybe somebody heard of that specific configuration and problems with it.

Are you talking about the new one?

A Short Introduction

Michael Walker.8150

Hey Lacey,

Thank you for letting us know what your job is here. I think a lot of people were hoping for somebody to advocate a native mac client. It’s always good seeing more anet personal working with the mac community. I appreciate you beeing here.

Not hiring a dedicated mac specialists and taking from your regular work hours shows how little Anet thinks of mac players and makes their nice words taste quite sour.

That client’s developement has been neither denied nor confirmed sadly and after those years and the continued lack of support for a native client, it is safe to assume that this sorry excuse for a client will stay for a while.

The forums really only needed a quick clean up, ever other 3 months or so. can be done by any mod posting a quick question asking what needs cleaning up, worked last time.

The concerns have always been about all the problems the wrapper is causing.

As it stands, mac players cannot enjoy the same graphical fidelity as other people. they suffer frame drops with a lot of people around and even though it has worked for me for a while, the black lion trading post is often inaccessible for mac users.
Also sometimes it doesn’t start or restarts the computer upon exiting the game.

So again, please consider to get some kind of message stating the developement of a native mac client.

If you do not develop one at the moment, let us know and we will use windows meanwhile. I don’t understand the ratio behind ignoring any plea, comment, question or suggestion regarding a mac native client.

I know that where arenanet is situated the legal environment is more than toxic but there should be a way to notify players about the current state of said client without breaking any kind of NDA.

My favor to ask of you is to tell somebody that the mac client in its current state might hurt the reputation of arenanet more than it would be inconvenient for mac users to install windows and play it on a native client.

Mac users have been using windows for a long time if you played other games than Blizzard games.

I really don’t like working with windows but only using it for games always worked out. It would be better to have native mac games though of which there are still too few.

Thank you for your work Lacey, sorry about the less than perfect format of this post, I’m tired of writing the same quaggan manure every time

Windows 7? 8? xp? ME? 2000?

Michael Walker.8150

First of all, thank you again for your help!

I went with Windows 8 after all, the tiles made no sense though so I’m back to classic mode :P

It feels great again to actually see what GW2 looks like, won’t be going back to the Mac Alpha anytime soon, except of maybe checking tp if I become active again.

I’m getting the same fps with everything set to maximum basically, reduce it a little and I’m having a really smooth experience.

Player count is on low though.

If I don’t limit frames to 30, the game goes nuts, jumping 10fps incraments from 30 to 20 to 10 and back to 30 (not back to 20 first).
With a 30fps limiter it says its 22 fps constantly but it feels smoother than that, no idea what is going on. Feels more like 35-40fps like flamingfoxx is getting…

I have 16gb ram as mentioned, what are the settings that make most use of this?

The drivers that have been downloaded by bootcamp, are they up to date? should I download different ones?

There is a combat/UI mod to remove the black border and other elements, I forgot the name though, somebody knows what I’m talking about?

Really nice graphics this game has, sadly the wrapper works so bad for a lot of configurations.

thx again and maybe you guys now one or the other answer to my questions

Michael Walker.8150

Hey Calpurnia, can you elaborate a bit on what light video editing is for you? And how big a file size do you get in photoshop?

I create and print 80×32 on a regular basis, thats between 60-200ish megapixel 16 bit tiff, the new mac pro should handle anything single frame pretty well since I do this on a macbook pro

So if you don’t plan on shooting some kind of video raw format in 4k or the likes, you can probably go with the cheaper option.

however, since money isn’t and issue, just go with the faster option, I mean seriously, it’s your disposable income so it’s up to you to decide. The more expensive option will be faster but knowing apple it wont be as much faster as it is more expensive

Hi John!

Cool idea, would love to hear some of your experiences when creating the BLTP

-Can you explain how you started designing the BLTP when approached by Anet?
-How big was/is your team, how many variants and iterations did you come up with and how different were they?
-Did you have to change some aspects that make perfect sense economically but didn’t fit lore?
-If there have been others, what were the alternative names for the BLTP?
-How many hours approximately did you spend working with sound engineers & audio artists?
-How much gold do you have in game?
-Have you ever contributed something to the lore behind the economy or helped?
-Who had the idea for the mystic forge conduit? Love mine and it worked well (?) as a material sink. Can you give that person a cookie?

[Suggestion] Event notification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Michael Walker.8150

Michael Walker.8150

Do you think that showing all of these events makes the map feel cluttered? Would it make finding the information you care about more difficult?

That would have to be tested and adjusted.

There are two possibilities I think, one would be allowing to select individual (world)events to follow and display on the map, similar to selecting dailies to watch.

The other would be an additional tab on the top together with functions like the BLT, PvP or WvW.
Basically a “what is going on in tyria”. Current events running, up coming events and perhaps a brief summary of what else is going on in Tyria, where the Living Story is atm or festivals that are running/cycling.

nice idea! dual wielding shields wouldn’t make much sense but there is potential to add new skills to existing weapons, simply by swapping “sword/main – shield/off” to “sword/off – shield/main” .
you wouldn’t have to change the animation for storing the shield.

basically different stances:

sword/warhorn is offensive
warhorn/sword is support

just an example though.

maybe not. most maps have a level span of 10-15 (queensdale has 17), depending on how you level, the lower levels fly by really quick.

these areas are only_really_interesting if you are lower level, therefore up scaling makes the map viable for more levels than a 20 level range

However, they could explore some toxin-related interesting down scaling mechanics. A lot of people are still zerker so mobs just get one shot, feels nice and op

stop calling me "boss"!

in Living World

Posted by: Michael Walker.8150

Michael Walker.8150

Boss seems appropriate.

not to me it didn’t, at no stage during any of the living story did I feel like I was the ‘Boss’ of the group. It felt like they were calling the shots and I was tagging along for the ride.

Yes, you aren’t leading the group, doesn’t mean you aren’t being seen as the “boss”. You might just rely on Taimi’s judgement when it comes to deciphering scarlets work and perhaps ask your mesmer for a portal or your necro for a bone bridge.

Also you constantly choose how to progress and with whom, the fact that all those ways lead to Mordy shouldn’t mean that you lack influence.

And it’s still an mmo and lots of story mechanics are also based on how possible those choices are to be followed up in the first place.

I prefer these little choices to the illusion of choice during LS1, there I really felt like a lowly mercenary not knowing what was going on, only following the idiotic orders of our leaders running into our demise basically.

So yeah, they take care of all the puzzles and we can focus on being boss.

And I mean….we enter the machine and we tell the NPCs to go see the pale tree etc

the PC will most likely never have the same influence than a single player PC.

Besides, I call some friends/people boss, really depends on the context and can also be a “you friend, with the best judgement at the moment, please lead on right now”

I’m not their employer, I’d never hire them in the first place but I sure am the most bestest of all the characters in the LS2

//edit

semi negative: I also think they called you boss in this release due to the feedback they got about the nobody-PC we seemed to be playing. Same with K&M annoying lovey dovey cow manure, finally they seem to realize the gravity of their situation after that many deaths.

I don’t think this developement was necessary from the start but it’s nice to see they move away from the comedic/sad expressions of K&M’s relationship. Or at least don’t have it the exclusive content of their dialogue.

We never left the Pact. Anyone can claim we left to do our own thing, but there isn’t a single scene in the story that actually demonstrates this. It’s like leaving a gap between Chapter 8 and Chapter 10 and giving a brief synopsis of what was supposed to happen. That’s not storytelling, that’s telling that there should have been a story.

Yes, we never left, she didn’t say we left but “went off to do stuff”, which sounds a little non heroic but that’s pretty much what we did.

I agree with the rest, lot’s of information has been left out or was badly placed (outside of the game). Great read!
Not to mention the overall quality of the story or how it ended up in game.
Since LS1 is not yet in the journal they still have time to add and flesh out a lot of the story, which they hopefully will.
They reverted their way of story telling back to the personal story style minus the puppet shows. With this format there is plenty of opportunity to add one or the other green star (or orange or blue…) to flesh out missed stories. Add a toggle on/off, sweet.

Good to have people like you to remember stories we missed btw, interesting reads always, since I missed some of the temporary content.

Yup, would give a segway into introducing Primo. Fire needs oxygen to thrive and what would give the most oxygen besides a giant jungle dragon representing the sheer insane capability of overgrowth. Burning, Primo grows larger while Mordre withers away and runs off to hibernate.

Well Primordius and his fire-minions would probably beat Mordremoth and his plants fairly easily.

Nah it’s more like mordy would evolve or grow whatever is necessary to defeat whatever dragon it’s fighting.
Plants are probably the most diverse when it comes to both offensive and defensive abilities/mutations: shells, seeds, fire resistant acid coated fast growing bamboo style murder plants, just to name a few.
and you can’t protect against gases either, not against all at least.

all the other dragons sound like a resource battle, mordy might just be the most cunning. Like, as an antagonist for a detective.

Where is the new content?

Michael Walker.8150

I don’t see it as a waste. This is unexplored territory for most MMOs. Anet is doing stuff no one else was doing. Not to the degree they were doing it certainly.

Since it’s never been tested, how is testing it a waste?

Because the resulting content was horrible and only got a little bit better towards the end, that’s why. they should (could?) have tested such mechanics before or during the game goes live, latter with an already produced and more conservative content running parallel perhaps.
They had nothing though, no clear idea where the story went and no clear idea how to implement these ideas, considering the intention of releasing episodic they should have paid way way way more attention to actually making sure that a coherency will emerge through both story and transitions between episodes.

And worst of all no back up plan whatsoever.

Just a lot of ideas in their concept phase at best, maybe as a mind map somewhere…
I expected them to already have somewhat polished content at the start of gw2, because anything else surely would lead to chaos, at least that was my thought based on any experience I have ever made in virtually any area of expertise; without proper preparation you are likely to run into a wall.

The thing is, they advertised GW2 with the idea of “regular, high quality content worth an expansion” and did also mention that this was possible without a subscription, which I naively believed in.

*I’m glad they found a better composition now and learned. *neglecting the fact that it used up most of their resources, they should have tested it in a smaller scope with beta testers. Just because of common sense and reasons mainly.

It just kittenes me off that developer nowadays release beta products and then have (paying) customers test it, it’s not the correct way to test in my opinion. For some design ideas there is no choice but to test it live, some things should have stopped in the concept phase…

However the content is free and at least the_quantity_of GW2 content at the start justified the price they asked for (50-ish $?), just.

I mean seriously, who’s idea was the temporary content? “Let’s make tv series like content” “great, let’s make it so you can’t rewatch older episodes!” “grea…wait what?”

Things like this don’t have to be tested. Or the Atlas, or Lore outside of the game…
The time they spent on this was simply wasted as the conclusions from their little test would have been available elsewhere.

Again, looks like we are in for better content now and if they rework the LS1 content within the story journal, it might reach the quality they were shooting for but missed so hard.
I’m quite happy with the current content. And all in all it was my mistake of having played parts of LS1 in the first place, would have sent a stronger message to the devs.

Some people, including me, just wanted to see GW2 actually revolutionize the genre in some ways which is still pending.

tl:dr have a great monday

biggest problem of living story 1 was being temporary content, so you can’t see 90% of the content that was added last year. gotta wait for the story journal to update and allow to replay living story 1.
Seems like a lot of resources were wasted on experimenting how to do the living story so the LS1 releases are a bit inconsistent in the amount of content delivered and less coherent when it comes to story and quality.
there should be more content coming tomorrow?

I always thought this was strange though, in a world of instant teleportation, the relaying of information should happen much faster, especially since the teleportation fee is very little, even less for lvl 1 NPCs :P

A: Ingame the Asura gates are free for players to use, while in the actual lore there is a cost for using the gate (and it gets bigger if you are shipping cargo or groups through)
B: Likely the waypoints can be a bit expensive, probably cheaper but still expensive for an out of pocket cost, which is how I took the magic.

The way it was described it sounded as if the magic involved took the coins from your coinpurse and teleported them to the safe room in Rata sum. Not from your bank or stash, but from your pocket. I could be wrong, but that’s how I took it. Either way, we know almost everybody prefers to simply hike caravans across the distances instead of waypointing, and I’d bet it relates to the money aspect.

Yes.
I’m just saying, when you see some strange vines attacking your means of travel, maybe consider having one person fast travel to a capital.

Well reports about the Vines spreading from Maguuma is probably sill fresh information. Not to mention most of the NPCs don’t move out side of their current placed map due to their jobs requiring them to stay in that area.

However, once Chapter 2 hits then we will finally start seeing the Pact invovlement and information about the Vines spread more.

I always thought this was strange though, in a world of instant teleportation, the relaying of information should happen much faster, especially since the teleportation fee is very little, even less for lvl 1 NPCs :P

Another thing is that we have no idea if mordy is spreading the vines towards the west as well. Going after the current spread we can assume that this is mordy’s radius of influence, neglecting the fact that it is only spreading along WPs, might not be possible without the help of asura technology in the west…

We have lots of conversations here about the many places we could take the story, and ultimately, it comes down to what we think would be the most fun. We can only make so much content, so we have to carefully choose which content we make.

Hi Angel,
Who is “we”? I got curious the last few days how the interaction between game designers, narrative designer (can you explain what this mean at Arenanet? or have you already somewhere? the search function on these forums is useless), writers and visual/audio artists work for the Living Story Season 2, what have you learned or changed from Living Story 1?

I got a rather incoherent feeling from the first seasons’ storyline and its implementation. the overall feeling of the second season, at least the start, seems way more polished now.

Hi, Michael,
I am just one small member on a very large team that creates the Living World content. Our team changes in size, but there are just a little over twenty people on it at any given time. This includes artists, designers, QA people, project managers, audio engineers, composers, leadership, programmers, and writers. The Living World is very much a team effort. We have a series of meetings as we’re developing each release that start big picture and gradually hone in on exactly what we want to do. We all have our areas of expertise that we bring to the table, but everyone is invited to give opinions and ideas.

My responsibility as narrative designer for the team is to keep the lore in check, to ensure the dialogue for the iconic characters is in voice, and to guide us through the overarching storyline, so that each release keeps us moving toward our final story goals.

We’ve made a lot of changes for Season 2. We’re continually improving our processes with each new release. The most notable being that we no longer have 4 Living World teams, each making their own content; we have 1. This has allowed us to create much more cohesive releases, and I think you’ll find that our story hangs together quite well in Season 2.

Hi Angel

Very interesting information, thank you for taking the time to reply! (how do you measure the size of your team members?)

I didn’t quite realize how varied a team has to be for these releases to come together, basically 2 devs per area of expertise, tough position to be in but it seems to be working now. Does that mean there are 15ish teams like this?

So you are the cake pan?

Yes, judging from this release the story steps have a clearer beginning, better development and a transition to the next story step that is nicely integrated in the game world and mechanics.
The Pacing of the Episode and the steps within was great! This added a lot to the overall coherency.
I did the first 2 steps in one go but then took a break and did the last part later. I have done it a second time on my Asura (first toon), to get alternative dialogue and to see the hologram I missed.
It was a little short but more is always more.

Glad to hear you found a team composition that works for you. LS1 did seem very scattered and detached, and while this works as a scarlet pun, didn’t so much for the player.
Looking forward to the next episodes!

Michael

always periodically save/ctrl-a ctrl-c

sorry about that but thank you anyway for taking the time to answer. It probably would slow down velocity but it might just be neglectible.

My, less informed, point was that velocity alone is just a possibility to be used for better or worse. The equilibrium is mostly achieved by players seeing opportunities and in competition to each other create lesser, more acceptable margins for everybody. If this is done without speculation and in depth market knowledge it would be based on demand/supply only, no? And get those sudden bursts of supply by using more players with more supply than few players with huge supply and vice versa for demand.

Maybe that’s just the naive view of somebody without an economical background.

Your Karma tax seems like the best idea so far at least. good luck with the proposal and thx again for trying to make the TP more fair!

based on my mess

Yeah I wasn’t quite clear.

With free storage I meant using that storage with the intention of making sales, not storing items for free for later use. In this context the 5% are just part of the 15% sales tax and is meant to eliminate quick re-listing and a never ending undercutting of prices (with bots?). It’s a commitment tax I think would be fair to call it.
And the 10% sales tax is to prevent inflation going out of control?

So personal trading volume is only limited by the gold you have. Just imagine the rare earth industry being able to store their goods for free on UN parking lots.

Inventory management is very important in game, the TP mechanics don’t have any sort of limitation on storage.

This can be used to ones advantage, as mentioned above, with long term high volume sales.

Now one idea I had is, as soon as you place a buy order for 5 stacks of ore you get 5 stacks of “grey/inactive ore” in your inventory, as items you can move, put in your bank and then transfer to other characters if you wish. Or place it in the bank to begin with.
As soon as you pick up your order, this mock/substitution item gets deleted and the real items ends up where you pick it up.

Well, this is one idea, the most restrictive one and maybe too extreme. An alternative would be offering 100 TP “bag slots” for free and heavy tp users can upgrade it to 500? 1000?

This would hit high volume trades the most and create more competition within higher priced item markets.

So, white karma wouldn’t slow down trading as much as tp bag space but it also doesn’t have a hard cap either, assuming it is very easy to get not to make casual players mad. And it would probably have to be balanced for casuals?

This is my main thought, at what point does unlimited trading and its resulting velocity harm a larger amount of people than helping others.
Or just how different would the equilibrium be if only “amateurs” create it naturally by playing the game, selling and buying stuff on the tp. And then find a middle ground?

Another little addition concerning white karma would be a WK tax based on the total amount in the pick up tab instead of flat. Probably came up already, can somebod direct me to that?

def +1 for droppings

Thanks for the elaboration Wanze.

It would limit buy order volume to the amount of white karma gained. So flipping short term becomes less attractive unless you hoard white karma which is a lot of time invested over a short period of time in game, great. However this is looking quite interesting, as long as you only pay the karma tax on pick up you can just place buy orders and basically use the time you will need until you can pick it up for the prices to rise while you play the game. which you do with sales targeted at a time several months in the future already.

Maybe place mock item stacks as a possible solution to this particular problem? might solve/chip away on a bigger issue even, lots of money is made due to the truly unlimited storage the tp has, which is completely free compared to char/bank space.

That future (bold transition ) might come sooner though as casual players/the majority will find themselves starved of white karma the same as with gold. If there is little to plan with it tends to evaporate quite quickly and without white karma (and with gold) you would be using the buy now option.
Which speeds up those kind of trades. Like buying snowflakes for 3s and placing them at 9s to wait for the expected fluctuation to do the rest. Winter only comes once so that particular trade wouldn’t be much faster(I placed some 2 of my stacks at 10s and still waiting…anyway)

As I see it so far, it would be a rocky start at first for tppeople but after they’re (back) in the new routine there might be more profit (but less revenue) in it for them if they are wealthy and play on a regular basis. White karma would have to be easy to acquire not to exclude casuals from the tp and this (without some form of DR, which in turn would make lots of players angry) also means that people who play more than casuals should have plenty white karma. Also it would have to be easily obtainable for the same reasons.

It would
- eliminate “10 chars lvl 1 / 12 accounts” traders. I unfortunately have no clue how many of them exist out there.
- Possibly make casuals/poor people worse off due to buy now / white karma starvation?
- Probably won’t make short term flippers richer because you would have to have white karma in stock.
- Probably not affect longer term traders much and/or make their sales easier.
- definitely decreasing revenue across the board but with a larger spread better margins

Aaaah, I don’t know, it’s like turning high speed high volume trading off so I guess it would give some control back to the “human traders” on the tp. Which is good.
I guess it solves the original intent of removing those short term flippers.

Anyway, what do you think about the Mock Item idea? I understand it would severely cut profits/revenue/speed of all markets, except maybe legendaries.
Any adjustment you could see in this idea to make it worth discussing?

I neither have numbers nor the knowledge to predict economy changes, I go with the “what I would do” approach, hope that didn’t confuse any economists here with obvious mistakes, please point them out though.

reminds me, can’t you guys take the Icons’ image and add a black frame? I could do that for you if I get a high-ish res image.

I’m sure this could be something easy for the new mac specialist to fix and it would add to the ease of use and general smooth vibe of gw2.

it’s very hard to see but there is a box around the 2, for some strange reason they still haven’t changed it for a shaded version…or they could add a black frame to the entire icon, shouldn’t be too hard

Broken Intentions: It's been 6 months

I think it’s an acceptable to great strategy to develop “in secret”, depending on whether or not the tactics within that work, like apple shows.

And yes, they should adjust to the live environment and they have with CDI and balance patches. The changes were little sometimes and weird (the atlas) but that’s not necessarily indicative of a bad strategy (which is series-like content financed through cosmetics).

Judging from the content over the past 2 years though there must have been some sort of convoluted nonsense going on between the different teams resulting in some really weird discrepancy between the quality of the sum and of it’s parts, inverse emergence of quality somehow.
It really doesn’t help that GW2 is_such_a beautiful game!

Seems like some of that internal nonsense is gone, having played the new LS. While shorter in story than I hoped for, it is leaps ahead of LS1 and the second half of personal story.

So yes, getting general user feedback might have helped while GW2 was pre-alpha and surely in beta, the system we have now doesn’t have to be bad is all I’m saying. Arenanet decides what topics are up to feedback (CDI) and then we contribute. The steps Anet has taken always seemed very small and evolutionary to me and changing the highest end game reward won’t happen on a whim (read: perhaps longer than a year).
Also it is related to crafting, so any mentioning of T6 used in crafting (for instance) would make the TP go nuts and the TP has been a huge concern in many changes they have made.

It’s unfortunate that many players, including me, thought it was more of a promise to get precursor crafting into the game but ultimately if it was ready and they decided against, there must have been a reason (new reward structure).

Now about the customer/gamer thing

Most of us here are gamers first and foremost. customers (who buy gems) might not be in the forums and I’m sure Anet measures income gained from gem sales to see if most customers are “happy”/willing to pay.
Sure, there are some customers here as well.
CocaCola won’t change a product more likely even when they get books of the most eloquent reviews and critiques.
Gw2 is now an international game as well, the english forum got even tinier of a fraction of the players.

If you are a gamustomer (yes!) and you seriously feel like you are being cheated for your money or so unsatisfied that it bothers you to extend you can’t take it anymore, I think you should go for the publisher, the ceo’s and heads of the company.

And I don’t mean this sarcastically, it would probably be the most efficient way to express serious concern; if you feel like not buying gems isn’t enough.

clarifications: I’m nowhere saying forum feedback is bad or couldn’t lead to great changes, the opposite is possible too though.

I also think that both great feedback is being read but more should be read more often by more people.

You can’t really break intentions as they aren’t something fix/clear to break, otherwise it’s a promise…you could call it “intentions – pending ending” or something the sort?

You probably won’t get an ETA from anybody, Anet has a “release when we are happy with it” policy for most things, hasn’t always worked out so well and might have confused and deterred one or the other customer. It’s not a bad approach in theory though in my opinion.

It might come out with “rewards 2.0” or maybe never if its implementation eliminates the need for crafting precursors.

I think Anet got it that something is amiss and their mmorpg turned out not as grand as intended so if they ever decide to overhaul several mechanics at once it’s helpful not having promised anything.

Wanze what do you think about this?

interesting proposition, what do you think will be bigger, the reduction in tp only players/their time spent on the tp or an increase in “buy now” orders because players don’t do the same amount of math when it comes to smaller purchases. As in where players might consider placing a buy order for luxury goods, they are more tempted to use the buy now option when they have no karma left.

I could see commodities being bought more via buy now and this benefits flippers especially whales.

Since this market is by far the biggest an fastest, do you see this as a potential risk?

I like the general idea though, more so if the karma tax increases with daily turn around perhaps? yes, artificially capping.
