There’s definitely a coverage issue. I am on JQ and was off work yesterday and Tuesday with a cold (I blame my kids!). I was able to run a character from 0 to 100% completion Tuesday afternoon EST in BG BL. Yesterday I did the same for SoR BL. And subsequently on both days, all of the EB map except two POI and a vista. Curse you Blue Keep!

Once NA primetime rolled around, everything went back to much more even scores on all maps. The situation changes drastically between Asian, EU and NA timezones.

Thanks! In fact, I was out of work today with a bad cold and so logged in to Wv3. I was able to complete Blue BL and all of EB except the blue keep and 2 nearby POI, and half of Red BL. Much faster than expected – I guess I caught my server on a good day.

Thanks, I’ve been using that one and it is awesome but it doesn’t have interactive versions of the Wv3 maps.

I’ll just print out the regular Wv3 map from that site and mark the features myself with a highlighter. That should do the trick.

I would use the 64G as a starting point for making money from the TP. There’s a good blog about this kind of thing right here:

Some of the recommendations in that blog are kind of mean and I would stay away from them. But the basic ideas (buy undervalued items, sell overvalued items) are pretty solid and should see you right.

Anyone know if any changes are planned for The Flameseeker Prophecies (shield)? I’m getting close to having that one – just working on WvWvW world completion and badges, then I’m done.

I’m looking for a prinatable map of the WvWvW zones that marks all notable features (vistas, POI etc), since I’m working on map completion in those areas at the moment (and am also helping out with WvWvW while doing so).

Several interactive and printable maps of the PvE zones are available online, and they were really helpful when I was completing those zones, especially for the POI. However, I can’t find any similar maps for the WvWvW zones.

And they didn’t earn themselves a JP gank break? They’re denying your server siege, potentially drawing people in to kill them, tying up your forces as they try to jp, and clearly annoying you. Seems valuable to me.

The 10 of them annoyed me and maybe 2 other level 1 mules while otherwise sitting on their kitten and not helping your server. Lazy and boring, as are your efforts to defend them.

keep in mind if you done (100% complete) the brisban wildlands and plains of ashford maps before the februari 26th update you don’t need to get those two waypoints. And indeed you need to have finished your story up till lvl 60 to get all PoI’s. Also remember to do all WvWvW maps. they are a pain to complete imo and take a long time waiting for weekly cycles.

Thanks. Yes, I completed both before Feb 26th but will go back and grab the two new ones for completeness. For the rest of the PvE maps, I just have to get one more vista (an easy one) and a POI in Malchor’s Leap tonight, and then the 4 POI on Claw Island. The rest is done.

I’ve completed the Green BL in WvWvW, but now need Red and Blue and EB. That will probably take a while. In the meantime I can work on my clovers, WvWvW badges, and the rest of the karma for Legendary (currently at 740,000).

Slow going, but I’m getting there, and it’s really fun (which is the whole point)!

I am about to complete the PvE map, and just want to make sure I got everything before I move to focusing on the WvWvW maps.

Specifically, do the 4 POI on Claw Island count towards Map Completion, or not? I don’t have them yet.

Second, which zones received new POI or waypoints in the last patch, and where are they? I think I got them all but want to make sure.

If you can get online in the morning, like between 6am and 10am server time, you may have a better chance completing Blue and Red map exploration objectives. Just follow FoO around. During NA it will be much harder for you. Also, even if BG manages to win the match this week JQ will still be the Green server next week.

I was about to suggest that as well. It would need around a million karma so you’d be on your way. But it also needs a ton of other stuff, some of which is darn expensive.

Yes, although PvE World Completion is almost done, I’m still at around 650,000 karma and still need the WvWvW badges and a few dungeon tokens, so I’m not there yet.

I guess I’ll just factor it into my daily routine as you suggest. Do the Daily, do WvWvW JP, and then do a little WvWvW and check status of points.

I have a max size male norn guardian with black skin and black hair. Armor is a mix of CoF (head, hands) and Cursed Shore Karma Exotic (everything else). Colors are Emerald (#1), Black (#2) and Evening Red (#3).

The contrast between the dark green and dark red metal and the flames from the CoF gear looks pretty fly. Additionally, sometimes I remove the helmet, and then the dark green and red metal also contrast well with the character’s skin tone. I haven’t seen anyone else use this scheme – it’s understated but original and I like it a lot.

I’m working on Map Completion for my Legendary Weapon, and will be finishing the PvE map this week (maybe today, in fact). I have also completed the Green Borderlands WvWvW map, but still have to do Red, Blue and EB.

I’m on JQ and every time I have looked for several weeks we have been Green team. Does anyone have any tips as to how I can get Blue and Red if things stay that way? We are currently in second and so may change colors next week but the server has a way of pulling out the win. I’d prefer not to leave JQ if possible since it has a great community, and is a full server so it might be impossible to return.

One other thing – I have been starting to run the JP in Green Borderlands. Can I do it on multiple characters each day? I also found that when I ran up there on a level 6 character and logged out, when I logged back in I was back in the PvE map. Why is that?

Yeah, JQ has been Green on tier 1 for quite a long time and has a way of pulling things together for the win. It might actually happen this week that we go to Red but I can’t see Blue happening anytime soon.

Any other way to get it done, short of a server transfer? Is it possible to run the maps during Server Reset?

Yes, that’s the one. The problem comes up when the character is in tight spaces, eg Troll’s End JP. Open world is less of an issue although the camera jumps in and out if you’re moving close to something immediately overhead.

I don’t mind it for the JPs since I can just choose to avoid doing the cramped indoor ones on a Norn. But for some vistas to have problems as well could get in the way of World Completion which is required for Legendary weapons.

Still, I only have around 10 vistas left to do – just Malchor’s Leap and a couple of the WvWvW maps and I’m done. Fingers crossed there won’t be any additional issues.

Just completed it after 24 deaths. I like the game but the person who changed the camera immediately before release should be ashamed of himself.

If I hit that kind of thing again I’ll use the potion trick – thanks!

I’m currenty at 90% world completion on my max size Norn and am doing Straits of Devastation. The Lightfoot Passage vista is almost impossible. I am good at JP in general but have died at least 15 times on this one even after looking it up on YouTube.

The problem is that the size of the character and the camera are not fitted for the puzzle.

I know this has been discussed before and the developers have even apologized for it. I don’t care. It is extremely annoying. FIX IT. Thank you.

My favorite trident is Malachidean (picture attached). It’s an Exotic and has a really cool Orca/Killer Whale design with a purple glow effect. I get asked about it all the time when using it – I guess most folks don’t know about it. It’s not expensive on the TP (3G).

Nice! Is that glow effect on the trident or from one of your abilities?

Sorry to reboot this topic, but I am wondering if anyone has done this successfully. I stumbled upon it last night as a level 80 Guardian and was easily able to collect a lot of crystals during the event (filled the bar) but the three attack golems still got triggered.

In addition, after I killed the golems the event chain did not continue. The NPC disappeared and the room was suddenly filled with obsidian destroyer trolls. They ate my Guardian alive with no trouble at all through my Exotic gear. I mean, I was dead in less than 3 seconds.

I think this event chain is very broken at the moment.

I use Black Lion Salvage kits (still have an abundance of them), and I get at least one ecto about 75% of the time on rares. Sometimes I get two or three, but most common is one.

I do this as well. The BL kits give a nice return – I almost always get at least 1 ecto and often get 3.

Just give the OPTION to disable full inspect in the hero panel, while leaving the skins on. Ta-da! work done.

If you’re worried about someone asking you to enable inspect before grouping, chances are those people already ask to link exotics, so nothing changes (unless you’re one of those smart pants linking exotic item codes and running around in green MF)

I run full Exotic and Ascended, with all relevant runes and sigils. My gear is almost certainly better than yours. I still don’t want Gear Inspect. If you want it, go to WoW or FFXI.

Honestly, it just gets in the way of the fun. I saw that during 8 years playing other MMOs that use it.

Hey, I really enjoyed that part! It got me back into AC a couple of times, and CoF a few times. Met some nice people and by the end felt like I knew what I was doing. It was fun.

It would be cool if they had one day a month where there was an amnesty/truce in the WvWvW maps, and made part of the daily ‘complete WvWvW eternal battlegrounds map’. It would introduce lot of PvE players into the WvWvW map for maybe the first time, in a very fun setting.

My character is very well geared in Exotics and Ascended, and I am close to obtaining a Legendary. I regularly get asked about some of my gear, since I actively look to obtain unusual Exotic pieces. Even so, I think there should not be Gear Inspection in this game.

I used to play FFXI, which does allow this feature, and it led to elitist behavior and gating. FFXI is a very hardcore competitive japanese MMO, and the playerbase is very dedicated. GW2 is much more casual, and overtly allows players to play how and when they choose, without competition.

Gear Inspection has no place in a casual-friendly MMO. Those who want it are missing the point of the game.

I’ve been doing the daily every day for a couple of months, and generally like the new system. But I’m not really sure why some of the options recently have been so specific. Kill 5 veterans in Maguuma? Kill 40 enemies in Kryta? 4 events in the Shiverpeaks? Why make them region-specific? I’m doing World Completion – let me play in the regions I choose!

I rather like dailies – today’s one took maybe 20 minutes tops. It gives me the sense of having accomplished a goal however small. Right now I’m working on world completion for legendary and am at 86%, and today’s daily didn’t even interrupt that.

In contrast, I used to play FFXI and it was routine to log on and wait for over an hour for a group to get XP or run an event. GW2 is much more time-efficient and streamlined – very nicely designed.

Just wanted you guys to know that these are also available as guild mission rewards as well. You can get them as random rewards from completing missions or from the commendation vendor.

Using ectos is a bad idea since they are already required for several other things eg Ascended backpieces and legendaries.

If you’re smart, you’ll switch the open world consumable in this requirement to something different. People already complain about ectos and this is going to make it even worse.

I need all my ectos for my Legendary. Anything else requiring ectos can go die in a fire until it’s done.

I am working on Flameseeker Prophecies and currently have the precursor and 550,000 karma, along with some of the other requirements (eg 90% world completion and working on it).

I’m tempted to grab the obsidian shards now and cross them off the list – is that a reasonable idea or is it better to just finish everything up once I reach the final threshold?

Always finish your clovers before counting your obsidian. You might have quite a bit less than you think…

^ True that. Always finish off the variables first. 77 Clovers is a gamble so the exact amount of shards is never known. I did mine by buying round 300-350 at one time and using them for clovers then on completion getting the remaining for the 250. Keep in mind shards are only used for legendaries so they’ll just be wasted if you buy extra.

The order to do things imo would be to get WvW completion asap, if your server is not doing well then thats going to be a real pain still doable during reset time. After that its all about the Gift of fortune since you are going for the shield.

Just to make this really clear: You want to forge Twilight, you’re okay with the cost of the 100 lodestones + the cost of the hundreds of ecto + the cost of the stacks of Orichalcum ingots you need…. but the cost of the precursor bothers you?

I have never understood this……

I have been working on Flameseeker Prophecies for several months and am slowly, slowly getting there. I bought the precursor months and months ago when I realized prices were gradually climbing, and now it’s double what I paid for it. I sympathize with those trying to get a precursor now and think it should not be such a huge barrier. Getting the precursor should be the beginning of the journey, not an obstacle to finishing it.

However, I would caution folks who are looking to start a Legendary that the precursor is only part of the overall cost. If you were to buy all purchasable components from the TP, according to my math a Legendary would cost at least 1100 gold (give or take, and including the cost of an average precursor ie not greatsword). Plus the skill points, map completion, WvWvW, crafting requirements and sheer bloody-mindedness.

Not to be gone into lightly – it’s a really huge investment in both gold and time.

I play most nights EST for an hour or so, and my connection has always been fine. But last night was different – horrendous lag and multiple disconnects. It was worst in Cursed Shore and less noticeable but still present in other zones. Since it was zone-dependent I think it’s probably server-side. This post is to report the issue.

All other internet and cable-related services were unaffected. Rebooting and restarting router had no effect at all.

Location: New York City.
Server: Jade Quarry.
ISP: Time Warner Cable
Machine: Dell Mobile Precision Workstation, i7 840QM quadcore, 8GB RAM, Quadro FX2800M graphics. Normally plays the game smooth as butter.

I’m working on a Legendary, and so am karma farming and doing world completion. Currently at half a million karma. I log in for an hour a day and work on my current zone, and while doing so make sure I finish the daily for the 7400 free karma. This also gets me a laurel. I also keep an eye on the monthly achievements since completing the monthly is worth another 10 jugs of karma and 10 laurels.

If I have time after daily completion, I run a dungeon since I need tokens for Legendary as well and it also factors into the monthly. Then I log out.

Total time in the game: 45 minutes (no dungeon) to 1.5 hours with dungeon). It’s efficient and fun. I wish I had more time to just hang out, and I do that at the weekends, but during the week it’s all about setting goals. Otherwise the legendary will never get done.

Agree with the OP strongly. I can’t log in to FFXI anymore after 8 years of play, because all I can see is the old fashioned gameplay. After GW2 I just can’t stand it – the gameplay is much too restrictive.

I also note that LOTRO and other MMOs are taking up ideas from GW2 piecemeal, and the trend is even starting to bleed into single player RPGs.

Hats off to the developers – paradigm shift in the genre. Well done!

Skritt for sure. There’s already a Skritt town/city in the game and it’s pretty great. Really enjoyed playing through it and learning more about them.

Hylek also have a good depth to them – would work as a playable race. Kodan also but they cross over a bit too much with norn. What would they bring that’s new?

Maybe Tengu and I can see it happening, but they need more development. Right now they seem too cookie-cutter Monk type.
