sigh you are arguing just to argue at this point…I never said it was bugged I was referring to the break stun part that is bugged (which it is)

I am saying it is NEEDED for it to make us immune to conditions while in mist form, that is my opinion and nothing you say will change that.

I’m really not, it’s a pretty big difference, if it’s an opinion you are welcome to it, if you’re claiming it’s a bug then you’re wrong. Since you’ve clarified though, we’ll move on.

It really doesn’t NEED to make us immune to condition damage considering Ele has some of the strongest condition removals in the game, seriously Ele has some pretty big problems, this just isn’t one of them.

It’s really not an argument, you don’t have a leg to stand on. There are plenty of fixes needed for Ele, but this is not one of them.

And clearly I was not talking about the stun breaker, once again, we have established that is one of the fixes needed.

It really shouldn’t considering every other invulnerable state doesn’t clear or negate the effects of conditions already on you. Working as intended, you can moan all you like, but those are the facts.

I don’t know about the stun break, it should be doing that, but it should not clear or negate damage from conditions already on you.

It does make you immune to them while active, it just doesn’t clear the current conditions on you, like all other abilities like it.

I only use Tornado for 16+ seconds of Stability, the actual ability is just awful. And as for Mist, what Korath said.

How much crit is recomended for D/D? I feel I have my defensive traits/stats set up quite nicely, but I am sitting on 23% crit I’m wondering if I should aim higher, I use the trait which gives Fury/Swift with aura’s as well.

I was just responding to the silly people saying “just use a cripple or chill!” HS has a 450 jump attached. If you’re spamming it you close distance quicker than someone can run away from you even if you are chilled or crippled, unless they also have swiftness.

Again the problem with HS is it does too many things at once for just spamming one button. It makes awful players into vaguely competent ones and no ability should do that.

uhm no, the 450 jump is shortened when the thief is chilled. you can in fact run faster then it less the thief uses haste.

Snares make no sense when you have skills that moves for you. It could have some sense in GW where there was no leap, but now snare is the counter of nothing.

The gap closer is effectively nullified with a snare , meaning the distance they travel is far less and you CAN run away, this isn’t opinion it’s game mechanics.

Skill cap and Effort:reward; this isn't a new thing.

A Thief playing to it’s full potential and an Ele playing to it’s full potential are not a million miles away like people like to make out. It may be harder, but it’s still not hard.

I didn’t claim he was running HS. Backstab build is, effectively, one the maximum potential burst builds of the thief. I don’t understand how you are nullifying my argument here. You are acknowledging a skill cap difference, and difference in effectiveness.

And I never gave any indication I was addressing you directly, my argument was simply that people who play these classes with a higher “skill cap” like to lay on the holier than thou attitude, when there class is hardly difficult to master any way.. It’s a game and not a very hard one at that.

Why has no one brought up the fact that the Ele brings an amazing amount of utility to the table, and a crazy amount of lasting power. You are comparing the opposites of the table, the Thief which is deemed a spammy class (Although not true in the slightest, my opinion, you guys are just butt hurt) to the Ele who has more skills than ANY class not just the Thief.

I roll P/D and D/D and I use all my skills, so stop judging every Thief by the minority YOU have played with, this thread is full of whining children just jumping on a band wagon, honestly spend a lil more time in PvP than you do on the forum moaning, maybe you’d improve.

@Brigandier that’s just the thing, with my Ele I can specc for survival and defense and still have enough damage to kill my opponents, same as my Thief and as I had a cloth wearer and a leather wearer I wanted to make a plate character, how ever the Warrior really doesn’t do much for me so I’m left with the Guardian.

@akamon Thanks that’s some nice info and general advice, I am perfectly willing to switch between those weapons I just didn’t want to get pigeon holed into using the staff/scepter all the time, but that seems like a fine compromise I may take a Guardian to 80 yet.

Feel free to spout off ignorant, pointless arguments like “it’s an inexperience issue”. You’re not really helping your case, and you’re not exactly backing up any of your points – nor are you making points. I assume you’re a troll, but I’ll bite anyway.

Stealth is not overrated. Especially not combined with someone who also knows how to move while in stealth to juke. This is compounded by the current rendering issue. And if you’re looking to get out of the fight and re-open when your CD comes back, stealthing and using I-Arrow or another Shadowstep can easily ensure your escape. Bad Thieves stealth and stay in the same area, good Thieves stealth and move behind the target, since any smart opponent will begin attacking the area the Thief stealthed in. Sounds more like you’re inexperienced with stealth than your opponents if you think it’s overrated.

It still doesn’t matter because no other class has that gimmick build, or can put out those numbers. If everyone could do it, it would be balanced, but also a fragfest. Might as well play an FPS. If only one class can do it, it’s broken.

Try doing a forum search for stealth bug/exploit. You’ll find numerous complaints. Shutting your eyes to them doesn’t mean they aren’t there…

When did I say it wasn’t broken, heck when did I even imply that? By all means, this along with the rest of those unbelievably un-practical builds can be taken away, it means nothing to me, but it is still undeniable that the OP has not given the full story.

As for the rendering issue, I have simply not come across it in sPvP, not once but I know the issue and if it is happening to others in sPvP that is hardly the fault of the class.

Minachilles, I see it often enough in sPvP and tPvP, so do many others. I think you’re thinking of the distance loading problem, where the enemy zerg can be 10 feet away and invisible. That’s not what this is. If you spend most of your time in WvW, you’re obviously going to see it more often there. :P

And it doesn’t matter if the OP is a glass cannon because no other class or spec can put out that much damage in that amount of time. And the ones who even come close like 100B Warriors have a number counters besides dodging/invul. It’s too high no matter how you slice it.

I don’t spend most of my time in WvW, I spend most of my time in sPvP or tPvP and I do not encounter the issue in sPvP I haven’t heard any one complaining about it either in sPvP.

And of course it matters, I even said myself the number was too high but it absolutely matters if they are both glass cannons because it’s not painting the entire picture, it’s simply “Here is a number, nerf Thieves”. Backstab Thieves that aren’t specced into an absolutely gimmicky build don’t put out numbers any where near like the one in the screenshot.

Also OP you are unbelievably arrogant and single minded, if you perhaps took on some advice from others you would improve your game play, no matter how perfect you imagine you have got it down. Honestly if the Devs where to listen to the player base this game would have gone to pot already.

That rendering issue only applies in WvW afaik, and from my experience I have seen the issue only in WvW.

Also OP, you could be completely glass cannon for all we know, in which case those numbers aren’t as ridiculous as you have made them out to be. (Although, still quite ridiculous, coming from a Thief.)

Weakness of this combo is that they are the true essence of glass cannon, and are not OP in the slightest given the fact that they can only pull this off once every 45seconds and on a squishy target. It’s a gimmick specc.

WvW offensive Guard

I haven’t done much WvW and the only thing stopping me from taking my Guard to 80 is I would like a class I can play offensively in WvW as that is what I will focus on at 80 and I don’t really wish to be stuck in the back lines.

I really like the way a Guard plays for the most part, but I have two issues being the Staff and the Sceptre both of which I have been told are necessaties in a WvW build.

I really like the 2handed weapons and the Sword+Torch, so are there any Guardians out there who have success playing a build focused on these weapons in WvW?

Edit: Thought I should add, when I say offensively, I do not mean glass cannon, that is definately not my play style.

You have stealth mechanics, you shouldn’t die it’s far to easy to trick scripted enemies, especially in the early levels.

While I some what agree with you OP, there really isn’t any thing to be done, even if you were to even out the distribution of points I still think people would gank and follow the zerg train for the most part. It’s just the way hot join games are inclined.

You can always go out and search for your 1v1’s I do it on my Thief and Ele, can cause more frustration though if you’re in said 1v1 and then another jumps in and ruins your fun.

You can stack your bleeds pretty quickly so there isn’t much worry about people removing them, or so I’ve found. I have more concern about them wiping my poison/s.

I’d seriously consider rebinding your skills, particularly Utility, I use Q for Healing skill, E,R,F for Utility Ctrl+C for Elite. I also have ` to my number 5 Weapon skill just feels more natural to me. But definately consider changing your keybinds, find what feels natural and go with that. If the game had more skill slots I would have even gone as far as to use ESDF for movement, I did in WoW but there where just so many skills in that game.

When ever I try to sell things on the BLTC, I get through about 2-3 items down my list and then I get this message, relog is the only thing that fixes it and when you have 20+ different items to sell, this becomes quite time consuming.

From D/D perspective I am a definitely not a fan of this idea, just dumb’s down my whole play style and I don’t see why you would want 2/4 attunement’s available in a fight, that doesn’t seem like a solution only another issue.

Already said they want people to learn counters and get used to the game more before they start doing hot fixes and messing with numbers, games only been out a little longer than a month.

That’s not to say numbers won’t be tweaked, but it could be a simple case of people l2p their class.

They have already said, if you want to PvP with you friends go tPvP, sPvP shouldn’t have any pre-made groups, it’s all PuG. It makes sense also I love playing against my friend from time to time, especially with no duels I can show him who the better player is :P

On topic, Auto Balance does get on my nerves, but as these games are not that important, there isn’t much to complain about really.

I rolled Ele from possibly the easiest class to level, the Guardian and what you say is very true, how ever it was not even close to being as fun as my Ele, I can’t even see myself playing another class I am enjoying it that much.

Ranger’s have a similar issue, and so do Guardian’s with there Sceptre not sure if it’s an oversight by the dev team, or intended. They do have spells that are slow moving but home in and follow the target so I’m guessing it’s intended.

This is also not true. I swap my Weapons/Attunement’s all the time and see the same from other’s in PvP.
