GS mobility issues

The GS phantasm has a cripple built into its whirlwind attack. Combined with the knockback on 5, we have decent control over our enemy’s movement.

For my secondary weapon set, i use sword/focus mainly for the additional control that Temporal Curtain offers. In WvW, I add Blink to my toolset because it is very versatile as a gap closer or gap creator.

FPS drops like a rock for a very specific area.

Having the same issue in the bandithant caverns in queensdale. Huge and sudden drop in fps upon entering the cave.

I’m using a GTX 460 with the 304.79 drivers.

My buddy experienced the same thing in this specific location, and he was using a GTX 560 and same drivers.

Please, for the love of kittens, give WvW DCs a grace period

I would really like to see something like this happen. If disconnects are abused to avoid death, then just have the system kill the player and port them back to the entrance waypoint upon disconnect. Even this would be preferable to waiting another hour in queue.

This is exactly why my guild avoided moving to henge. The queue times are awful and zergs against empty towers get old quick. SBI doesn’t have 24/7 population, but the commanders know what they are doing and the pvp gets really fun during peak hours.

Instead of removing scoring, just replace it with bonuses that you get for holding a keep/tower/camp that slowly increase over time, resetting the bonus when the keep is captured by another server. So instead of capping a tower because it gives you X points every 15 mins, you cap it and hold it because it awards your server with a bonus 1%/2%/3% karma gain that grows the longer you hold it. That would make wvw feel much more approachable for casuals who don’t want to stay up 24/7 to compete for bragging rights.

I don’t like switching builds much, so I went with something usable in both WvW and PvE. I use Greatsword and Sword/Focus because I find they give the most versatility in keep sieges and ground battles.

Feedback is probably our greatest tool in ground fights, which is also why I use Medic’s Feedback.

Portal is strictly for WvW, as it has countless uses there. For PvE, I swap out portal for null field to remove that immobilize that mobs in Orr have.

Yeah this champion is one of the hardest I’ve faced so far. No matter what I do on my mesmer, I can’t shake him once he’s on me. Even if I rez at the nearby waypoint (losing over 1s each time) this boss REMEMBERS me when I rejoin the fight. I use power/toughness/vitality gear from the vigil so I don’t die easily in Orr, but this boss is definitely one I avoid.

I hope this boss gets reworked with new mechanics. At the moment, trying to kite a frenzied/unstoppable boss that never switches targets is very one-dimensional and uninteresting.

MOA Morph is broken in pvp. Please fix.

I can’t think of a single match where moa turned the battle in our favor. I use this ability when I feel like trolling a 1v1 skirmish, but I consider moa one of the least useful pvp elites.

Simple fix really. Just lower the frequency of the npc chatter near crafting stations, banks, and trading posts.

Well, if we’re talking about revelations in mesmer pvp, it would have to be the value of field-wide pull/knockdown with Into The Void, the versatility of the Feedback bubble, and the value of Deceptive Evasion. These are the tools that make me feel invaluable in spvp, and pretty much define my playstyle.

Tested the alleged bug with Sharper Images (minor 15pt trait in Dueling line), where applied bleeds from illusion attacks were not dealing damage after those illusions were destroyed or shattered.

My testing shows that any bleeds remaining on the test dummy after the illusions were gone are still dealing damage, but the damage numbers are not appearing as floating combat text above the dummy. We may not see the numbers ticking after the clones are gone, but the bleed effects are still dealing damage to the mob.

Did some testing with the effect of Phantasmal Haste (trait X in Illusions line) on our phantasm’s attacks today.

Let me first explain my understanding of “20% less recharge rate”. The phantasms initiates their attack, the attack has a duration period, and then it ends. After the attack ends, the phantasm enters a “recharge period”. This recharge period is the time that gets shortened by Phantasmal Haste.

Here is what I gathered from testing, sorted into groups of “working better than intended”, “working as intended”, and “not working at all”.

WORKING BETTER THAN INTENDED:

Phantasmal Warden:
Attack channel: 6.0s
Recharge (no trait): 7.0s
Recharge (traited): ~1.5s

WORKING AS INTENDED:

Phantasmal Berserker:
Attack duration: ~0.5s

Who’s to say what ANet “intended” for blurred frenzy? As mesmers, we just use the skill whenever we find it useful.

If you’re looking for a tradeoff for this 3 sec invulnerability on an 8 sec cd, it is definitely that we are visible and rooted for the duration. Your enemy has plenty of opportunity to create an advantage with that time.

I would say give the mesmer a try, and if you find it too difficult to learn at the beginning, move on to something else. Most people that absolutely love the mesmer and find it fair and balanced have played it since headstart or beta. Just know that mesmer has one of the steepest learning curves in the game.

And don’t feel bad if you can’t get the hang of it. I am much better with a mesmer than a thief, even though I love playing both classes. I tend to play with what I’m good at, so I stuck with the mesmer. Though, I have huge respect for those with enough patience to figure out the thief.

I checked out some of your other posts. If you are still using the ATI 12.9 drivers that were released recently, a google search shows that several people are having blank screens and lockup issues with 12.9 drivers. 12.8 is stable, but has texture flickering problems. The only decent drivers for GW2 I have read about on forums are the ATI 12.7 drivers.

I can appreciate that you don’t want to divulge your system specs, but have you tried these previous driver sets?

Whatever they change it to will likely be an improvement over what we have now. Downed 2 underwater frustrates me to the point of avoiding all underwater fights where I don’t have a clear advantage.

Greatsword has been my leveling and WvW weapon of choice mostly because of the control I have over the distance between me and the enemy. The phantasm has a cripple, which has 100% uptime if you have more than one berserker out. The knockback is also nice for creating distance, but I wish I could knock mobs off of cliffs (oh well, can’t have everything i guess).

For traits, I go with crippling dissipation (cripple on illusion death) to add more control over enemy movement speed. The result is a very nice setup for kiting in PvE.

I tried this in sPvP for the first time today, and was quite pleased with the results. I run this setup with a sword/focus as well, to give me more control over enemy movement with the sword 3 root and the focus 4 aoe pull/knockdown. It has its limitations, but it certainly wrecks a group trying to cap your node.

Greatsword and sword/focus. I like the range on greatsword with the berserker’s cripple whirl for aoe, lets me feel like I’m in control of enemy movement speed. Sword leap and immobilize has great synergy with phantasmal warden to keep your enemy rooted in range of the warden’s melee.

I cannot say enough about Temporal Curtain, though. Gives me and my allies extra mobility, snares my enemies, cures conditions on projectile combo, retaliation on leap combo, and provides a field-wide interrupt. Still, the best part of curtain is pulling people off of keep walls or saving your allies from multiple stomps. Such a great ability.

I recently made it to Malchor, tried some events and was thoroughly impressed with the smoothness of the framerate at highest settings. I am running a gtx 460 with the 304.79 nvidia beta drivers.

My problem occurred during an event with tons of action on the screen. I was able to swing the camera view to get a full view of my surroundings very quickly with no dip in fps, but the game would seem to freeze for a second, then minimize/restore very quickly. It has interrupted the game twice already and I’m worried that I may be doing something wrong with settings. Any help here appreciated.

Yep, pretty much any leaping or teleport ability carries the risk of this happening. There have been previous threads reporting this exact issue, so I’m sure they are looking into it.

Audio bug: Character Sound Disappearing

I recently had my sound die while exploring in open world PvE and had to restart the game to get it going again. The only change I’ve made on my computer that might have caused this was upgrading my graphic drivers to the nvidia beta 304.79 drivers. They drastically improved my framerates (from 20fps at medium settings, to 93 fps at highest settings), but I’m not sure if this is causing the audio to die out.

Update: I went into the in-game sound options and changed my sound device from “default” to “headset” and the problem seems to have disappeared. I will update this post if the problem occurs again.

I have had this issue many times on my mesmer whenever I use a leap ability while standing on stairs. It happens with phase retreat (staff 2) and Illusionary Leap/Swap (sword 3) and is quite annoying when it happens in spvp. The battle of Kyhlo is where this has occurred both times while standing on stairs. I’ve decided not to use leap abilities at all inside the clock tower because it almost always results in me getting stuck under the stairs for the rest of the game. What would be nice is a way to kill yourself with a /stuck or /suicide command so I could continue with the rest of the game, but I imagine that would be exploitable.
