Oh my god, yes! A rainbow set of weapons, or a twilight set. That’s a pretty smart idea. I for one love it. But just @projectcedric said, it will take away the legendary feeling and will take a catloving time to make. But (Yes, but again) what if we add one legendary to each weapon like the greatswords. In that way it will be more fun to actually get the superduper legendary combination instead of just an simple legendary…..
I would like to see a full set of toxic gear and not just the two pieces.
I’m not saying that scythes shouldn’t be in the game. I’m saying that they should be classified under the Polearm weapon type, and designed with that in mind.
Also, the impracticality of unmodified farmer-style scythes is -not- only a matter of aesthetics, in fact. The wider range of attack options that “practical” polearms offer translate into more skill possibilities. Plus, unlike a dedicated “scythe” weapon type, Polearm would fit thematically with more than just Necromancer and [Dervish]. That being said, I think it’d actually be really cool if, for Necromancer polearm, the exact same thing happens as with their staff; that is, a shadowy scythe blade appears and the weapon is then used as such. The polearm and scythe does not look like eachother at all. I would rather have spears under the polearm catagory, having scythe introduced with spears/polearms would be a nice idea. And the statement that scythe is impractical…wel yes. But then again, why do we have swords when there’s pistols and magic in the game.
Your post makes little sense. Even the typical farmer’s scythe would be considered a polearm (an armament attached to a long shaft of wood, or pole, hence polearm). Furthermore, pistols and swords were used simultaneously on the battlefield. It wasn’t as if one day all of Europe said “well, we’ve got gunpowder now so let’s go ahead and ditch swords, armor, and every other piece of military technology we’ve used for centuries”.
No…you can’t just consider scythe a polearm because the metal is attached to a long wooden stick…that’s just plain stupid. War scythe is a type of polearm, that’s the closest you can be for a scythe to ever become a polearm.
The grim reaper used the harvester tool to collect souls….therefore the nickname (harvester of souls). That’s why is more appropriate to have scythe in a game where’s there actually exists gods/death gods.
So your argument is…
…a scythe isn’t a weapon (yet you want it included in the game as one), and therefore isn’t a polearm, but when a scythe is a weapon (warscythe) then it is a polearm.
I want you to think about that for a second. See if it makes sense to you. Ask a friend if it makes sense to them.
You need to read your posts a bit more closely before hitting “reply”. If anyone is being “just plain stupid”, it’s certainly not me.
The argument is still intact…a scythe/harvester tool and a war scythe is not the same when it comes to design or function, so I dont really see the problem there and I didnt state that the scythe would be useless as a weapon either (I just explaind the background to why it is used in these “anime” themed games).
They can do subclasses at some point too, adding new professions does not have to be mutually exclusive to subclasses. ANet still needs to add new professions to the game at some point as well.
Do you know why we dont have subclasses? Because of the balance. Do you think that the balance of GW2 right now justifies a new layer of complexity? I think the balance team right now has a lot problems balancing the game for all 3 gamemodes.
You would think after 2 years they would have the classes better balanced, why does this game feel like the longest alpha in the world>? Not Just not ready for release, but…Not ready for beta.
Being a Guild Wars 1 vet, I’d like them to do a throw back with one of the new professions they bring in at some point. Dervish is the main one on my mind, with ritualist being a close second.
How would both of those profession be unique in GW2? What would be their class mechanics?
Go play Guild Wars. You’ll see that BOTH of those have better mechanics, and are more fun to play than anything currently in GW2. And let’s Not forget The Assassin.
The Assassin is not a Thief.
The Dervish is not a handicapped Elementalist.
The Ritualist is not anything like an Engineer. These three classes should be in the game. That Anet doesn’t want to givethem to us, is just a sign that they rather keep putting out Living Story. I am pretty certain that even though they claim that the new season has " Permanent Content" there is no new class, or race, or weapon in the thing, maybe new skills? can I Hope?
If Anet does only 1 thing…. I would come back to play Like I used to, and I am sure many of those that have left, if they heard it, they would come flocking back, In droves….
Sub-classes.
What second thing could they do? Bring back Dervishes, and Ritualists and Assassins.
But…. that would be hard. And it seems that the only hard thing Anet considers doing is putting out skins On the gem store.
Mesmer is not Mesmer..
gw1 mesmer more&less http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Effective_mesmer_guide
gw2 Mesmer, example in GvG Veil bot.. (except veil there is no seat for mesmer)by randomly i saw thsis link.. mostly agree on them about mesmer.. http://www.toptiertactics.com/14669/guild-wars-2-how-arenanet-ruined-the-mesmer/
————————————
however we can say Guild wars `2` is not Guidwars1 (just new game.. who use guildwars tag) [anet would use another name than guildwars it would better i think]
Yeah, Im currently playing the mesmer as my main. But after reading this, I can’t really stop the tears from coming. I want my lyssa loving back!
So if they even think about taking back dervish, I really really hope that they don’t change them all that much.
Sidenote;
Weapons for a possible dervish in gw2 should be.
1. Scythe (daa), A little bit of everything.
2. Spears; Single target, conditions.
3. Greatswords; Cc/tanky.
4. Stavs; Support:ish. Ench…etc.
Just gonna throw this in the fray, the suddgestion I made was more or less to keep people from clumping without a total revamp (even though I want one)
I feel that when he does egt revamped, that the Entire Brand should feel like its against you. The brand is His domain, where it be crystals, lighting strikes, or even the land terriforming to cause choas, I think when the reva,p does happen, it will feel alive
It would be sweet to have like in Orr, constant dmg or some form of debuff while the event is active.
Making the bosses drop ratio go up would increase the amount of players taking place in each event, because we all love those special dragon drops (teq). Or maybe make us fight twindragons, or letting the shatterer have two heads which we need to kill to succed.
Think big…because the dragons ain’t small XD
I wouldn’t be all that concerned about the game outcome. Because we are talking about a game which devs are daring enough to actually break free from the mainstream MMO’s and do something els (els, not better/worse..just something els). Sure, we can question the decisions they make because sometimes it get wrong. But pointing out the mistakes with no actually good feedback wont make the game go into the right direction (Etc, that “warriors” and “guardiands” are the most op-classes, that the game wont release weapons and such because of the no expansion philosofy and the goldseller problem.).
So instead of complaing about that the non-existing holy trinity and the rest which you are actually doing in this thread. What about see things as they are and think around the problems and solve them instead of just standing infront of the complaing like the majority do.
So…here are some quick solutions…
1: Yes, they have some balancing issues to deal with. But guardians and warrior are not the most powerful classes in the game. They have major issues just like the rest when it comes to certain areas. Warriors can’t handle all that much cc and the guardian can’t remove conditions faster than the theif and necro lays on them…etc.
2. Don’t go around and asume abunch of stuff…thats problem is on your end not anets. This problem can be fixed with getting Anet to talk more often with us and letting us know that is coming in the upcoming six months and so on. So we can interact with the people creating our game.
3. Yes, this is a major problem for all of the mmogenre. No one had solved it yet because its a kittene to krack. But in Anet we should trust…I hope XD.
4. Have you seen the newest superman movie? The problem there is that they were born to do one thing and one thing only. They had one purpose in life…which for me seems to suck. I want my stereotypical murica freedom (swedish btw). Thats why I like this system .Yes it got some flaws, but the holy trinity also go flaws. There is some major tweaking with this one, but I think it will end up good after awhile.
5. Yeah, your right on this one. But what about if we do like wow. If you get to lvl 500 in weaponsmith there should be a weapon which you can only weild if you have lvl500 in weaponsmith. And special armors for lvl 500 armorsmithing and so on.
There is always a solution to problems.
Yeah, the shatterer should totally get a revamp, just because its an really good looking boss. And the area were it spawns really fits it perfectly. It would be fun if the boss spawned like really good champions that needed to care of otherwise you would wipe. Or some massive braincontrol powers.

@Nerelith
I got to ask; did you do any research on the game at all before buying it? Because it sounds like you didn’t and sort of assumed they were just remaking GW with better graphics, jumping and a more open world.
Not saying what Anet did was right or wrong (I still enjoy both GW and GW2) but I can understand why they did certain things. I even like the idea behind certain things, such as weapon skills being locked. It makes weapons more than a stat stick.
All in all for the most part, I’m glad they decided to make GW2 different from GW. It provides me with two different gameplay experiences. But that’s just me.
I did do research on the game, but nowhere do i remember anyone saying there would be No sub-classes.
Secondly, while I also remember that they said that skills would be weapon locked, as a Player of Guild Wars, with it’s Literally HUNDREDS of skills…I also did not remember them saying.." oh… you only get 4 or 6 weapons… so skills will be scarce."
I also remember an AI that used skills similar to what you yourself had On your skill bar being used by mobs against you, No where do I remember the devs saying " well, combat will basically be a HUGE HP Pool, bosses being able to ONE hit Kill you… "
Lastly I remember that part of the core experience of Guild wars was Elite Signet captures… My favorite part of the game.
I Understand the devs did NOT say these would be IN the game. but…
Coppola did NOT have to say The Godfather II was about the Corleone family, and their Involvement in Organized Crime….
That was sort of understood.
Wow…so you asumed alot of things. That’s a pretty ignorant thing to do.

I dont see any problem with having a dervish type prof intrduced to the game. They can just like the monk have been passing down the art. And along the way they went into more heavy/bunker type scythe wealding class.
It would be pretty awesome to have scythe on a thief…just because they can usr stealth and such
Sure, they “can” include both. But making one weapon type takes alot of time because you need to include them in dungeons, over the diffirent areas, crafting proffessions…etc. So they need to prio one weapon type on top of another (what I belive they will do), which makes taking scythe over realistic weapons like the haliberds a much better choice because of the fantasy “cool-factor” and the “nostalgia-factor”.
But hey, just as you said. Everything regarding what makes a weapons more appealing than another is pure subjective and Anet might think just like you. But because they dont say anything to us regarding this topic makes it even harder to discuss. They should make a contest were artists can contribute with for the looks of the new weapons. But I guess we will have to wait and see in the upcoming weeks if they announce anything regarding this topic.
Again, you’re trying to argue that historically innacurate scythes are somehow inherently cooler than halberds, naginatas, pikes, billhooks, etc. I would completely disagree and would argue the opposite. This proves my point; it’s highly subjective. It all depends on who ANet wants to market this game to; anime kids who love completely unrealistic weapons, or people who can appreciate why most medieval weapons didn’t weigh more than 5 lbs.
So you’re sayin that all scythe “lovers” are a typical young anime watching kid…and all the “mature” people like the realistic ones, yeah nope. I would rather say that there is a 50/50 % on them both.
“Movin on”:
If the scythe would appear in the game it would be nice if they introduced it with another class at the same time. Or a large pack of “stuff”.
1. Scythe
2. More spells
3. More armors
4. New class (A heavy dervish:ish class, so we can get the scythe).
5. New zones with hearts.
6. Guild halls.
7. GvG
8. Dungeons
9. Better chance of dropping cool stuff (No more gazillions of blues and greens before rare or exotics).
10. Uppgrade the bosses like the teq
I belive he ment archage.

I agree with expanding existing weapons to more classes (like a shield for mesmers). But having more weapons would really light up the game for us day1/beta players. If they choose to add weapons like crossbow and non-existing gw1 thats meh..ok fine. But getting javelins and scythes back on the table would really spread some hope over gw2 current situation. Because who doesnt want to look like death himself.
The inclusion of scythes as weapons, since Dervish in GW1, has always frustrated me for one reason: Scythes with blades perpendicular to the shaft are actually tremendously ineffective as weapons, despite the knee-jerk “cool factor” that attracts people. Scythes used effectively for combat have historically been modified to turn the blade 90 degrees, making them more similar to… yes, polearms.
Therefore, by all means, war scythes should be included in the game, but as a subset of the Polearm weapon type. Because Necromancers may be able to get by with a weapon that works by looks alone, but any other class is practical enough to use a weapon that actually works.
Lol. If you only want realistic weapons. Why play a game with scepters, staffs etc etc…scythe is weapon for all the gw1 fans. So just beacuse you and some other guys dont want it doesnt mean they should reject this weapon in gw2..
Yes, god yes! Having a scythe for a mesmer Would be awesome. I really hope they add this into the game. Having the mesmer dance around spreading clones and all sort of crazy stuff would be so cool

So they have deleted this feature.
No, I mean the roaster of how many deaths, how many kills etc etc…
Can I see how much money I had in total on my character/account and stuff like that. I remember you had that in the begining of the game.
I want the abillity to change race when you have completed your personal story.
My view has always been that GW2 is graphically stronger than GW1, but the design team from GW1 was much better. Anyone can see GW2 has much better graphics but GW1 had graphics that drew you in and made you feel sort of at home. GW2 never had that pull for me. I only play GW2 extremely casually now, like once or twice a year for a week or two at most. It’s easy to let go of. GW1 I played constantly for over 6 years. It just drew me in, I wanted to be there. That’s the difference for me.
In GW1 I spend hours collecting over 50 elite armour sets, including some FoW armour sets. In GW2 I pretty much insta-bought the two armour sets I liked and I was done with the game. It’s always a matter of taste of course but yeh games like Aion still has cooler looking armour than GW2 even though it’s an older game. GW2 may graphically be more up to date, but again, it’s the armor design that is lacking, not the graphics power.
Give this hen a cookie!
And I want some plate for the light users. That would be awesome.
Yeah, the only game with really good armory atm is Aion. But that artstyle does not fit Gw2.
We only need Dervish to make this game awesome.
Give us the scythe back, this should have been in the release if you ask me (Dervish nerdish). I want to play the grim reaper with my mesmer (Yes, scythe on mesmer would been awesome!!!!) Don’t you think my cute mesmer deserves one!?!?
If your colorblind, do you even know how blue, purple, red and so on looks like? Just curious.
I will take this as a dervish “tease” confirm or atleast a scythe class.
I looked in the wardrobe voult recently and found a “Destroyer Scythe”. Is this some form of teassing for a new class/weapon or just another skin for staff named “Scythe” that haven’t been released yet.
Nor did I ever state they did announce content. But Rainbow Sprint was apparantly under the impression that Arenanet only announced, and I qoute: A few QoL updates
While they infact announced major features. (Like the wardrobe, which I absolutely love).
Ah… now I see the issue. There was a misquote on my very first post. I was actually attempting to respond to THIS post:
I can see why people are getting upset, they are announcing a “big” content patch april 15:th. When they now releasing what’s coming piece by piece, we can now see that there is nothing more than just tiny updates that makes the life in Gw2 easier. I think we was hoping for something big (big in the terms of zones, armors, dungeons..etc, etc) and then got this…I really hope they don’t forget about what the “majority” wants.
Apologies for the confusion.
Yes, I read that too, I think I might have used the wrong word (Content as “Feature”). But the meaning in the text is the same, announcing “major” stuff your going to have “major” expectations…

Having a notification when a buddy loggs on would be awesome. I sometimes miss when my friends loggs on. I don’t always remebers to check “Y”.
If this is P2W then illuminati are involved with the production of this game…Serious guys, take your “shieat” together. I haven’t see more paranoid guys since…ever! If Im not misstaken, last time I heard they had educated econimist working together with the developers…they will make a profit out of the changes to BTP and Tp but risking making the game go south faster than WW2 is not something they are planing to do anytime soon.
So please, go home and drink some tea and shut the hell up.
Don’t know the exact name of these two items. But I think the majority knows which ones im writing about.
-Toxic Shoulders.
-Toxic Glovers.
Sounds like fun but a timeconsuming idea. We need to be somewhat of realistic in this. I dont think they will spend that amount of time to choose between two or three different ideas how La is going to look like “IF” they are taking it back as the main city.
Yes, taking some insperation from these would’t be such a bad idea. I would love to see legendary armor in the future. Were they go all out in design.
This is Anet doing right. Announcing stuff before they inplament it. There is serious nerd tears coming from my eyes atm. They are taking some major steps in the right directions. I got no bad things to say about this upcoming change in the trait system. It give me this fyzzie gw1 feeling all over again. I can only wait and see what they are having planed for us in the future.
It’s good that they took this into Gw2. But for kittening sake, why are they locking it behind tickets ONCE AGAIN! Are they serious with us! Pomp more money our of us like this. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Get us P2P Instead of this kittening major bullcrap! I will kittening quit this game soon becouse this is inmoral kitten they are doing to their fanbase!
I would like to see your work place, that would make the contact between players and devs/staff more real. Because right now its, more like your the gods behind the walls, lurking the in shadow for the right moment to strike us with a new patch update. So yeah, your lunchbreakes, random fotos, when your working, trolling with you colleges…etc.
Something like this.
/15charr
Yes, make this happen devs! Hire some new people or something, because yours are getting worse by the minute.
This is just good, now you need to learn how play to against foes with big numbers. Zerkser will desipair!! Finally.
Does anyone knows whats coming in the next major patch?

(edited by Moderator)
I can make around 10-15 shards a week. I need over 400…how is this a decent rate?
Why do they need to nerf with 90% or just make it to easy. Can’t you do something in between?
