I will only believe that someone without lvl 80 got a precursor if I see it, I don’t even agree with this events being open to people without the right lvl, most of them weren’t helping at all, not because they didn’t help but because they died too fast, most where naked by the time the chain got to the 2nd part of the event lol
It’s not somebody’s fault if they don’t have the time to reach lvl 80…it’s Anet’s fault for not fully scaling stats.
What annoys me more than the loot issue is just the fact that not all my stats were scaled. Why not?
While I don’t mind having the event repeat for those who missed, the event was HARD, even with all the people who were there the first time. If you have it repeating, you’ll never have that many people doing it at one time, and it’ll be impossible.
Finally, someone who’s not complaining. I agree wholeheartedly, the event was a blast, despite taking forever, and the fun + loot (even though it’s considered “kitten” because I did as a lvl 19) was more than worth it and I must also thank Anet for making this event.
My only regret is that they didn’t deliver on this awesomeness in terms of balance changes/bug fixes.
I found this guide while googling for a S/D build, and it’s looks pretty good. However, it’s from September, and I was wondering if it’s still viable.
I found it fun when it first opened and there was a massive zerg pushing through the island with Inspector Ellen Kiel, but after the chain finished, it became quite boring.
I think some of the npcs actually do zero damage and are intended to die (saw a sylvari npc tickling a nightmare hound/doing nothing to the health bar). They’re encouraging some wider zone participation with the current patch but yeah, nothing down to like level 20 zones.
I understand having some NPCs die for the purpose of a dynamic event, but it’s ridiculous to see so many dead NPCs while walking around. If you revive one, they’ll charge towards a mob and die again. Why are NPCs just so weak? I understand that they shouldn’t be killing everything, but they should be able to hold their own.
It’s ridiculous how empty they are. This emptiness just leads to problems.
1) Some dynamic events are built to have multiple people participate. Little bit hard to do them when there’s only one person doing it.
2) NPC AI sucks. They attack way too slow and have way too little health, and die to the weakest of monsters. The fact that there’s no players wouldn’t be as much of a problem if the NPCs could actually fight and hold their own.
Hey Arena Net, not everyone who plays this game rushes through it. Something needs to be fixed in the lower level areas so the people who want to enjoy the game can enjoy it. Make an underflow server, strengthen the NPCs, whatever. Just do something, please.
What do you mean it’s broken? Nobody can help you if you’re not specific.
I waited forever on the overflow for the trebuchet thing to finish, did the LA karka event, and ported to the new map. I’m level 15, and despite being scaled up to level 80, there was no way to hold my own until I caught up to the massive group of players. I still had a blast running around and trying my best to participate in the events. I missed some dialogue and so I didn’t know about the whole Consortium group thing. I followed Kiel and the army all the way to Camp Karka and finished up, with no clue on what to do next. I wandered around a little bit, got all the island explored except for 1 PoI, and then quit.
I had an absolute blast and cannot thank Anet enough for making this really cool event, bugs aside, all for free. I anxiously wait for tomorrow to see the conclusion of this epic event.
Really? The stat increase from Exotic to Ascended is only like 2 points. Anet isn’t forcing you to get it.
It’s more than +2 stats. That is just one stat on one piece. Look around forums; general consensus is that each part is 8% better individually and when combined in a full set = 26% better.
This is also not factoring in buffed legendaries which will bump the difference in over all combat performance even more.
This makes them BiS and a must have if you want to compete in Wv3.
We don’t even know how Anet is going to incorporate the Ascended into Wv3. They might just make the stats equal to Exotics for Wv3.
I don’t understand why people are complaining so much. You can’t really call it “gear grind” because it’s not like it’s “kill kittentons of mobs until you get”, it’s “play a new dungeon that Anet has tried to make unique and fun to get gear that allows you to play the dungeon more and beat lesser geared scrubs in Wv3 afterwards”. And also, it’s not like the Ascended gear has a major stat increase.
First, everyone complains about not enough endgame, then when Anet adds more endgame, they complain.
Never complained….not once about end game. Spent all this time in Wv3….which is my end game. Not dungeons, they can go rot. But not now, have to run it to go back to peak performance in Wv3. It’s also not going to be cheap, will have to save up 900+gold not to mention skill points/karma just to get one legendary weapon….I need a min of 3 (two daggers + staff) for my current build. But whos to say they won’t nerf my build and force me to go to another stat set up?
Sigh.
This looks to be a major grind rivaling most F2P games I have played in the past. Of course just like F2P games: I can cut the time and effort needed by 3/4 by using RL money to buy gold/materials. Working as intended?

I think that Anet should give Eles (and Engies) the ability to swap weapons while out of combat simply because most of us alreakittenep extra weapons on us. Giving us the ability to swap weapons before running into combat would be very convenient. Ex: You have D/D out, but you’re running towards a group of mobs. You switch to staff before you engage, instead of having to open up your inventory and switch. This clears up 1 or 2 slots in your inventory, and is just easier.
I’d much rather that Anet work on fixing the skills that aren’t useless.
I see plenty of Ele builds that I’ll try…when I’m level 80. The part that confuses me is how I spec my traits as I level, and what kind of armor to wear, and how to get said armor.
I want to run a D/D build like daphoenix’s, but I just don’t know how to work up to it.
What are your thoughts on Glyph of Elemental Harmony verses Signet of Restoration in this build? The build does not take advantage of the GoEH perma swiftness, so what is your reasoning on that?
On Friday at noon PST (3:00 EST) the event kicks off in Lion’s Arch with an event that “you don’t want to miss”. Does Anet understand that there are a lot of players who are still in school?
I’d say the Ascalonians are the “evil” ones. They are like the Americans and the Charr are the Native Americans. The Ascalonians pushed the Charr out of their land, and the Charr fought back. Yes, the Charr caused the Searing, but Adelbern caused the Foefire, hurting both sides for his own pride. So, I’d say the Ascalonians are the evil ones.
Just remember that the Charr have the peace treaty with the humans, and the Ascalonian ghosts are still fighting them.
Warriors/Necros w/out gear at lvl. 80 — 18,372
Engineer/Ranger/Mesmer w/out gear at lvl. 80 — 15,082
Elementalist/Guardian/Thief w/out gear at lvl. 80 — 10,805So yeah, ele’s are low man, but not the only one getting the shaft.
Imo, it should look like this:
Warriors/Necros w/out gear at lvl. 80 — 18,372
Engineer/Ranger/Elementalist w/out gear at lvl. 80 — 15,082
Mesmer/Guardian/Thief w/out gear at lvl. 80 — 10,805Who’s with me? I still like wearing light armor though because light armor looks sexier.
I like that idea, Mesmers have their clones to make up for low HP, but we don’t.
Just wondering is there is a way to do this with one of the other healing skills, and without needing Staff.
Well, I think that because Elementalists are the most complex class, it makes them the most fun class, at least for me.
We have perma swiftness anyway. For the easiest one just grab the master trait inscription from air magic, and the minor trait glyph mastery and use glyph of elemental harmony. Also allows perma regen or perma 2 stacks might ^^
Where is this Glyph Mastery you speak of?
Why is your character suddenly promoted from Legionnaire to Centurion?

What It made even less sense to me is that my tribune, the Iron Legion Tribune, disappears from my personal story and instead, me a Iron Legion legionnaire, I somehow have joined the Blood Legion since I report only to Rytlock.
I think that’s because, for whatever reason, Rytlock is just a little bit higher in command, and so a lot of the things that you need to do fall under his jurisdiction.

Well, I rolled Ash Legion, but that should only affect your 1-10 quests. Throughout my 10 – 20 line (Honorless Gladium), I was still referred to as Legionnaire, and I didn’t gain any warband members.
On another note, why is Dinky still the only member who accompanies me into story quests? There should 2 others that joined during the 1 – 10 quests.
The Honorless Gladium storyline is even worse than the sudden promotion to Centurion.
The honorless gladium storyline made even less sense. Depending on the path you take, you end up breaking your dad out of jail, assault and possibly kill several city guards (equivalent of killing cops basically), and then murder your pursuer in cold blood. Your dad then jumps through the Asura gate never to be seen again. When you go to turn yourself in to Rytlock, he basically says, “Yeah I saw the whole thing, but don’t worry about it though. Even though the whole city saw what you did we’ll just pretend nothing happened. BTW, no explanation for you.” You never find out what the big deal is about why your dad needed to go find evidence of his innocence or why Rytlock lets you off the hook despite murdering several people. Then Rytlock gives you this super important mission as if nothing ever happened. That whole thing was very poorly written.
Rytlock says after you talk to him that it was a mistake to send to into the situation without more information. He says that under normal circumstances, you would be punished for it. However, for all he knows, Emer could have been in the wrong and your father in the right, so he can’t punish you for it. Rytlock trusts your decision, so he just lets it slide (he’s a tribune, he can do that). And you didn’t kill anyone except Emer, the soldiers were just basically “downed”, just like when you went you run out of health.

At level 22, Rytlock and the reps from the Orders begin to call your charr Centurion. Why? He/she is still just the leader of one warband, a small one at that.
Okay, I apologize for not being specific enough.
I’m looking for a PvE build.
By combat build, I mean that you’re not focused on support, it’s very aggressive, and it’s a very solo build.
I thinking of Hammer and Greatsword.

Is there an effective guardian build that’s dedicated to just combat?
Charr. Because Charrzooka.
Also, the Charr have the Ash Legion, perfectly suited for thieves.
“Quick and quiet.”
I do agree that the Flamethrower needs a fix, it needs to at least increase damage with your weapons stats.
Also, am I the only one wondering why Flame Jet isn’t auto-attack? It just strikes me as odd.
I agree with this. One of the things that makes GW2 amazing is the dynamics of the events. Stuff like this would make it even better.
I’d like to know this too. If I didn’t see it on the wiki, I wouldn’t had even known there was a day/night.
Thief is my favorite class to play in PvP, and I want to make sure I have a good build so I don’t die in 3 seconds. If I try to google for builds, I get ones from beta which are probably way outdated by now. What’s a good build for me to use?
Because there’s no point to seeing your name above your head?
Yea, I tried a Flamethrower tank build in PvP, and I was very disappointed.
No wonder I wasn’t getting many glory points.
It seems a lot of things in this game server to give you armor that’s only good when you apply the skin to other armor. Can you apply a skin to items multiple times? EX: You apply cultural item “A” to the more-effective item “B” to make “C”. Can you still apply the skin from “C” to item “D”?
Sorry if this is confusing, this is the best way I could word it.
I’m looking for guides for GW2 such as class guides and crafting guides, but when I google for them, I just get a thousand sites advertising the “Killer Guides” GW2 guide.
