Their will be NO balance in WvW with the current transfer system PERIOD.As long as people/guilds can shift from server to server without penalty or restriction this will go on and on . These guilds that continue to move from server to server are NOT looking for good fights , fair fights or any skilled fights just easy wins.And if you say your not looking for easy wins your full of it. Otherwise you wouldn’t keep moving to over stacked over populated servers.
The transfer system as it is now is only effecting WvW since transfers are not required for PvP or PvE.The current system has destroyed WvW completely. Fix it or you’ll never get new players or guilds in WvW.

Yes, a bear/longbow ranger won’t bring much to a WvW squad.

However thinking that a druid is not worth a squad slot is a mistake. With the right gear, druids are currently the best burst healer. Burst healing is what really helps in WvW, even more in ZvZ. If I were you, I would educate my commanders, the 2013 meta is over guys…

Imho, if you wanna bring something useful to your zerg, a full heal druid is the way to go.

Can’t agree with this post more. I’m one of the only druids running healing on my server (TC) on the frontline and we definitely don’t get enough appreciation. I run full minstrels with a bit of clerics and use monk/rice balls/natural menders/transference/benevolence to stack outgoing healing through the roof with 1500+ healing power.. I bring the best healing in all groups I’m in and really get tired of people saying “Can any of you druids switch to a useful class?” I can’t count how many times I’ve been on the frontline, one of the last ones up with the commander, popping out healing left and right along with condition clear/damage buffs to the frontline while the ele’s are all down because they don’t have enough sustain (Sorry ele’s) What’s worse is being put into a pick group every time I run with a tag like I’m some sort of useless damage dealer. Meanwhile the commander and tank groups have 3 guards, a rev, and a necro.. like.. ok. Not my fault you’re missing out on a +15% damage boost to your tank train with massive burst healing and mobile water fields.. Don’t even get me started on the way ele’s scoff at the thought of a druid bringing better healing then them. Most ele’s don’t build for healing and are able to provide 2 water fields: One on a long cd that doesn’t even provide burst healing and another that is tiny/not mobile like the druid water field in celestial avatar. The druid water field can be popped twice in one ca transform with quickdraw right on the tank drain! And we still have our waterfield on staff! And then we have the support from our pets, such as the brown bear clearing condis or the moa providing protection/healing, or smokescale providing stealth to the group. Hopefully things will change and druids will recognize their potential as a support class instead of running longbow/staff and contributing to the idea that druids are useless. I also hope commanders recognize that druids aren’t a useless class if done right.
(Earix, I’ve seen your video, you actually inspired me to build my druid for healing/support and I couldn’t be happier. )

The “META” is created by guild leaders and commanders that either have never played a ranger for any extensive time, if at all . Go to any website that has builds set up for different classes and you’ll be hard pressed to find a ranger/druid build let alone a decent one for PvP or WvW.Lots for Guard, Elementalist,Necro,Theif,Mesmer.It’s a preconceived notion that Ranger/Druids have no place WvW based on 4 years of consistent hatred and bias.
Now we that main on ranger are starting to put together competitive builds like the bunker druid and people freak out and get it nerfed.They can’t handle the thought that they got their butts handed to them by a ranger.Or they get mad because they got “pew pewed” or pin sniped by “OH NO This cant be right” a ranger.Another one is “I got condi pawned by a trapper ranger that I couldn’t see” so lets do something about trapper runes.Or nerf the pets because its like fighting 3 people at once.Believe me I’ve heard it all .Your bias has set your sites on the ranger getting killed in battle so that’s all you see.
I’m not a great player but I’ve run Ranger main for years and can give many people pretty good fight considering my age and physical condition.Even wrecked a few people running on “meta builds”.
So I don’t care about “your Meta” because it’s only as good as the people sitting behind the keyboards.

Try a couple monitors to find where the most load is while running GW2. The IntelĀ® Power Gadget 3.0.7 (Windows 64-bit) for your CPU load and GPU-Z v1.12.0 to monitor GPU load .Or try openhardwaremonitor-v0.8.0-beta. These might give you an idea where the most work is being done helping you decide where your upgrades should be.Heres mine with and without game running.

Not to gloat but as a trapper ranger I can solo cap a camp well before white swords appear simply by attacking the veteran supervisor and forcing the other NPCs to cluster together. Given that the increases to damage since HoT solo captures of camps and even towers is really not hard.The power creep to player classes has over taken the Power of the WvW NPC.So I would agree that some sort of adjustment is warranted.But this would also cause problems in lower populated servers where a group may only be able to afford one person to cap a camp .

ANET isn’t killing JQ and BG guilds.The guilds trying to transfer to JQ and BG are killing their guilds.People know that those servers have a very high or full population but you insist on stacking them so you can get easy wins.So if your guilds get divided because of your “fair weather” transfers then it is your guild and the people in it that are at fault not ANET’s .

Your absolutely correct.The players define the populations at a given time of the day.But we have a transfer system that produces population imbalance.Server stacking by players looking for easy wins is a real problem and only ANET has the ability to address that.They’ve introduced server locks which doesn’t work when they keep a server locked after people transfer to a different server .Linking has turned out to be a mess for underdog servers as they loose their identity’s.Mashing servers together will only cause an even greater problem with server saturation leading to high queues ,high latency and crashes.
Probably the only way to fix this is to drop the transfer system all together and run WvW as a mega server with districts similar to the district system of Guild Wars 1.each district showing the current population and queue times.Then a guild or individual player can decide where to play.This will spread players out reducing queue times. Latency issues and crashes would reduce because guilds and individuals can go where they get the best connection. Severs and guilds would still get the benefits from the work that they do in WvW do because they will still represent their home server regardless of where and who they play against. Not saying that this proposal is perfect but it could solve some of the biggest issues plaguing WvW now.

I would really like to know what people mean by team play.Is it when the guardians/dragon hunters are so bunker-ed up with little to no damage tagging as many foes as they can while the back line does the real killing?Is that team play?Calling rangers out and calling us useless when we can plainly see the opponents going down one after another at the points of our arrows or under a barrage.That’s team play?
This is what I have to say about the so called “META” .It’s designed around selfish front liners that just want to tap while the rest of us do the real work.
ALL classes have a place in the battle field.Whether we’re running long bow or trapping we rangers are the ones at the far back watching over the back line ,bursting and disrupting the opponents front line and mid line.We flank to disrupt the opponents mid line and back line. So all you knuckle heads out there that think rangers don’t have a place in WvW need a reality check.It is ranger haters that need to stop being selfish and allow people to play the game .

If you just running PvE then (soldiers) Power ,Vitality,Toughness is a good general purpose armor set to get you started.You can off set for extra damage with berserk-er trinkets and weapons .Remember you can take advantage of the toughness and vitality with sharpening stones .maintenance oils,or tuning crystals.Berserker armor is fine but sometimes if your getting started with a ranger its nice to have a little more protection,especially if you inadvertently aggro a bit more than you’d like.

I don’t think down state should be removed.But I do think that it needs to be balanced properly.Some classes have a clear advantage over others ,particularly with mobility.

Theirs no such thing as a cheese build only builds.Their are thousands of combinations a person can use when building a character. Usually what gets called out as a cheese build are nonmeta or builds that are what I like to call “niche builds” .Some people don’t like that because it exploits the weaknesses of theirs. Their is not one single build that will be invincible against all others . So build the way you want and play the way you want . good luck and have fun.

First ,JQ needs no adjustment .Player presence is more than adequate through out the day .
Second ,as I’ve said before many times ,The current transfer system broke WvW.It’s to easy and requires either an exponential waiting period between transfers per account or an exponential cost in gems per transfer per account .Bouncing from server to server needs to slow down to curb the band wagoning and stacking.
Oh ya people say they would quit if something like that happened .I say so what .Lots of people wont play WvW because of the massive blobs.
Fix the transfer system and this madness will stop.

No such thing as a cheese or gimmick build. Just builds.
Long bow ,with sharpened edges and hidden barbs .Yassith’s /Viper’s with some sort of ferocity rune.Rampager’s accessories . I’ve tried with Dire Armor and rampager’s accessories with some success. All depends on how close you want to be to your target.

I use Morbach’s (Dire ) or Pahua’s (Trailblazer’s) with trapper runes , dire accessories and weapon’s . this gives a reasonable amount of toughness and vitality for close in trapper ranger with axe/torch .and staff for mobility and evasion.you can use short bow if your have good reaction .Axe/torch with sword /dagger is kind of fun.Just remember this is for pure condi ,you’ll have little power so you can’t rely on long bow ,long sword or staff you be your primary source of damage .I’ve not tried Yassith’s/Vipers with traps considering that you can’t predict if the the person triggering the trap has retaliation.Considering the amount of condi and crit condi you might end up killing yourself with your own traps.

Short bow is fine as is except the range .It was completely broke dropping its range to 900.We can thank all those people using farming bots for that nerf.Instead of fixing the botting they killed the short bow .

I think the whole downed system is unbalanced and broken.
Any remote stomp should be removed completely.
No class stomp should have any advantage over another .Whether by stealth ,quickness ,stability.All buffs should become inactive during the stomp.
No downed skill on any class should have any stomp delay advantage ,healing advantage or movement advantage.

Ya that would be awesome ,but as we all know that’s not going to happen unless player’s and commanders choose not to blob ,ANET makes it impossible to blob , there are exponential penalties for blobbing ,or they just get some better equipment.I don’t see any of that happening any time soon.

In Bloodstone Fen when riding a Ley line ,when I activate Ride the Ley Line ,It instantly kills me .
It can easily be repeated.

Anet do not want us to know how many players are on a map at any 1 time. They completely lack transparency in this regard.

They go out of their way to obfuscate this information. They have, however, stated that all the sides have the same pop caps.

I didn’t mean each sever could see the other servers population count in WvW just their own .I might give the commanders a general idea of how many players he/she can get in squad .And maybe with a little persuasion can get some of the roamers to join when needed.
I realize that some people don’t want to join a squad and that’s fine .they may have their reasons.It’s just that many times the commanders can advertise to join squad until they’re blue in the face and nothing improves ,yet theirs a queue . I’m sure it can be very frustrating knowing that you have people waiting to play in queue and you just don’t seem to have the numbers on the field.
And just to bring up further strangeness is many of us can have the same queue number .Is their a mechanism that accounts for simultaneous queuing?

That would be interesting to have a back lash on catapults , trebs ,golems and possibly cannons, if the blast area was to close to the weapon.Maybe limit the number of rams that can be deployed at a gate. Change the number 4 on ballista (Spread Shot)so it can be targeted a little better.Arrow carts need to have a reduction in damage or a longer reload.
Siege towers would be cool.And how about explosives ? Maybe a keg dump could be built and people could run kegs of explosives to a wall.

Removal of Runes of the trapper is ridiculous..It would be a complete waste of time using them primarily for the stealth because your revealed upon trigger.

Seems an ultimate balance to the classes would be a impossible task given the fact that builds and play style can very so much.A lot of what’s happening is the current Meta of boon stacking .And like all previous Meta’s ,things just go to the extreme because that’s what wins battles .What needs to happen is to bust the Meta and pour on the boon stripping. That’s really the only balance that can work.Players need to play a part in the balancing as well.I think the best thing to do is just let people play what they want and how they want.Because in the end it’s really about having fun.

I don’t understand how you are getting 7-8 k damage from a druid staff. With a weapon power at the highest (1166 dam) .Using solar beam which is the most likely weapon skill to be set auto has a skill-specific coefficient of 0.36 (taking in account of the bug) and even with full zerker I have never seen a power go above 3400 and thats with food buffs and blood lust sigil at max 25 and 25 stacks might. And the target with 1800 armor gives you around 793 damage.Now lets add crit damage.The base is 150%. With full zerker that would normally get you around 250%so lets add up. 793 + 250%=2776 roughly against 1800 armor.
Now if your getting hit for 7-8 k damage from a druid staff you need to put some armor on.And even with any of the newer 4 stat armor sets you will not get 250% crtit damage or the power.
7-8 k damage? I doubt it.

How can people says “they are not sure if it’s a duel or not?” Simple if it’s 1 dude vs another it’s a 1v1, a duel, an even fight…let them get on with it. If you are going to interupt at least let them finish the duel first.

Because we can’t read minds. More often than not it’s a team mate that is being attacked while roaming or returning to the main group.Nobody can be sure.I’ve been whispered many times “Why didn’t you help me!” So don’t presume everyone knows what your doing .Make arrangements with your dueling partner or let the map know whats going on at your location.Consideration goes both ways.

The dueling I don’t find any problem with it providing it isn’t done right outside a spawn point ,castle ,keep,tower or camp.It’s difficult to tell whether it’s duel or just camping and tapping to contest way points. If your in those spots you can be most certain that you will be attacked.If your dueling with the understanding that down is a win and that a stomp is unwarranted then you can duel in areas that are far away from standard traffic.In EBG ,North West corner of Speldan ,in the canyon East of Blue World spawn or North West of Green World spawn (not really a choice spot).In Alpine use the Mill area where the warthogs are. DBL there are a few spots near each spawn location and the center .Make the map aware of a duel in those areas and I’m sure no one will bother you. You don’t want to be interrupted and many of us don’t want to bother you.Just use some common sense and let the map know what your doing.

Most of our problems happened with the very noticeable power creep that HoT brought. Whether it be boons ,condition ,or control effects.
I remember when Cursed Shore was hard before Sunshine Cove.Now its like brushing lint off.
I’m sure if a party went into Forsaken Thicket at the time of game opening nobody would last 5 seconds.
Anyways its had an unfortunate effect across the game especially WvW .
I know that sometimes people don’t like it when one goes a little of the main topic of the thread ,but it’s not as simple as one problem. It’s a cumulative problem. If the power creeping isn’t brought under control across the whole game It’s only going to get worse as new areas are introduced.

Commander gear with durability runes are available to every class so don’t blame the druid class for that .Your basing your entire argument on that alone .All the stacks that are received are based on having that specific set of gear on.
Heal as one only shares the boons that your pet or you have on at the moment not all the boons that the skill describes .The stealth of Smoke scale is 1 second with a blast finisher and stealth isn’t effected by boon duration. Celestial Avatar is 3 seconds.No difference in the length of time to equivalent skills available to theif or mesmer.As for swiftness ,all classes have a significant amount of swiftness available to them look at engineer utilities as an example if your not convinced.
As for comments about deflecting by bringing in other classes to compare brings your whole argument into question.Like a Spanish inquest you have called out one class over powered without allowing relevant comparison.I find that typical of most of these arguments about OP classes.
Of all the whining about I hear about how this class or that class is over powered 99% of the time the whiner was wearing bezerker gear or simple a mediocre player and got wrecked.
Personally I don’t wear commanders gear and not a great player ,but I have had run ins with druids that have .I’ve won some because I was better than the opponent and lost some because the opponent was just better than me.
Your whole argument is over bias and full of holes .

I prefer T2 .Didn’t encounter massive blobs all day all week. Didn’t have to reset my internet every day all week .Didn’t have to wait up to 30 seconds for a skill to activate. Didn’t have to deal with the blatant double teaming all day all week.
T2 played for their own servers and didn’t get on their knees cupping and polishing…. well you get what I mean.
T2 was just more fun but could have used a bit more balance for the other servers.
When scores are close then you know theirs some good scraps happening.

Gem cost for transfer needs to increase per account each time a transfer is made.The time wait to get in to WvW needs to increase per account each time a transfer is made.After one year reset.
These fair weather guilds and people have little to no skill and only move to the highest ranked for easy pickings.
Low WvW populations need to start boycotting WvW stacked servers .I f they have no one to kick around for easy bags then maybe some of these fair weather guilds and individuals will move on.

If the GW2 program is being blocked from accessing hardware it may be an anti virus or firewall issue .Try turning them off and see if the GW2 program works.Not sure what firewall or antivirus your using but some of them can be quite troublesome after being updated.hope this helps

I tried Vipers and didn’t much care for it considering the long bow has no conditions on it unless you put the sigals on and or trait sharpened edges ,hidden barbs ,Refined toxins,Poison master however you like .
I found Trailblazers more effective for my style.
You can always mix it up to.Your not bound to one specific Armour stat across your set.
I run several different ascended sets depending on the situation and type of play.

TC may be the most packed server in NA but those people are not in WvW .The queue is relatively low through out the day considering what I’ve experience in other tier 1 or 2 servers . Just finding someone to tag up can be a challenge in its self.Many of the die hard WvW guilds left a long time ago.
