They have a knockdown leap and then do more knockdowns and insane dmg also its aoe so if your standing behind them while they are biting the person in front of them you will still get knocked down and killed even if you stand behind them. This is seriously not fun. Rest of the dungeon is pretty boring and then you got these things who ruin it even more.

its a boring and its not worth while killing something that 2 hits you or trolls you even if you are a tank. a sily chest that gives blues or a tonic of extreme uselss ness and rare/exo rune that cant be sold. its like killing jormag after 30-40 mins of bs to get 5 blues even if you are made of magic find. Plus the dungeons bug more than anything in the game so no one wastes time killing it only to get a bug. Its safer to skip get your tokens and gtfo as fast as you can.

Attacking from the safe point with the buff. Do something about this Anet. Its so exploitable. He has been doin this for past hour and hasnt died and can use killshot to instakill anyone. The damage should be lowered to 0 when you have the buff.

So i was going down the list and saw the longbow and bought it but i got a shortbow thinking i was buying a longbow. Anyone know if theres anyway anet will give me the 390 ac points back so i can buy a longbow? Because my war cant use shortbows and i cant even give it to my ranger or thief which is a pretty dumb idea. So im stuck with a 390 point shortbow i cant use because i was allowed to buy something my class cant use.

Thanks anet for the 3 hours i spent when the mobs dropped nothin and the big chest gave me scrub exos. What great event im sure everyone went through 3 hours of shooting something that did nothin back for 2 exos worth 15 silver and a 20 slot bag with a 25 to all stats acc that is no where near resonable. Only good thing about this ’’release’’ was the look of the map rest of the stuff is already in game and nothing new came out. Oh well. Maybe next time the stuff we need to work for is achievable through somethin else then buying a chest for 2 gold or doing an event for 3 hours.

Fail thred is fail. Glass cannon thief can out live a glass cannon war. War has no super movement skills or stealth. This is no way to compare 2 classes based on 2 different builds. Both can be countered but rifle gc wa r is easiest to counter. You can easily dodge a KS since theres so many hints its coming but with BS theres little to no time to react. So please do not compare the 2.

Perma Swiftness. (SoR) – Super movement skill. (33% is faster then 25% thief has…)

1h Sword Leap – Super movement skill. (low CD)

Warhorn Swiftness/Vigor buff. – Super movement skill. (and movement condition cures!)

You can’t dodge a killshot, because if you dodge it its CD doesn’t go on cooldown and it comes right back up, you also don’t waste adrenaline for using this attack unless it hits…

If you see the target about to dodge, you can move forward, breaking the channal and kill shot again, you can also do that and use berserker stance to make the channal time 0.80 seconds.

And you can stand at 1500 to kill shot, in the chaos of battle thats VERY far away… (remember, backstab does less damage if your traited for burst damage, AND you have to be at 130 range, AND you have to be behind the target…)

YOU CAN ALSO immobilize the target so he can’t dodge, then killshot.

“BS theres little to no time to react.” – A rumor, there is plenty of time to react and press a stun break, you can also trait so if your about to die you can use an emergency. (every class has access to these traits…)

While a rifle ks gc war is like kill or be killed and zerker stance only gives you a 2nd chance..Not to mention zerker stance is a utility unless you go full dum dum and get the trait. So wars lose a utility and the skill your complaning about is bugged by pierce as in no way it will 20k someone from 1500 if it wasnt bugged. Also it pins you in the spot and sure you can stop and wait another 10 sec to do it over while thief can run circles around you repeating the combo.

All said above is being compared between 2 experienced players.
A GC BS thief will pwn a GC KS war any day or night any day of the year unless the war switches weapons but wait that goes against the whole KS build so 2nd weapon dosent matter.

“5” skill on the bow costs initative. “6” to be exact, hes not going to have that much initative if hes trying to kill you.

A KS Warrior can do its thing from 1500 range, this means you can be hiding on a mountain while a BS thief runs by…BAM ALL HIS HP… Use precision signet.. BAM AGAIN… hes dead, he won’t even beable to react because he can’t see you.

If the war is doing KS to a GC thief well there is nothing to talk about here but a KS on a normal 80 with any type of 80 gear well the KS sont hit harder than 8-12k which is not enough to 1 shot anythin unless a glass cannon.

As for the bow 5 costin 6 well it only takes 6 init to do BS combo i belive. And the 1 init that you need will be back by the time you start the typical BS combo.

Remove ability to rez defeated players in combat.

I don’t mind the downed state. If you can down someone very easily, just continue to focus fire him when he is down instead of running over to try to stomp him. Treat it as a additional sliver of health bar instead of some kind of life-after-defeat state. However, I do feel that the abilities in the downed state could use some balancing among classes.

I agree with OP that there should a penalty for resurrecting the completely defeated. Instead of completely outlawing it, perhaps a severe penalty work better. For example, resurrecting defeated players in combat is 66 or 75% slower (unaffected out of combat). This might even introduce an additional element of strategy since resurrecting players are a beacon for AOE/siege attacks, players can use their advantage to damage a group of players more quickly, and the resurrecting team still has the option to do so, but have to be much more careful even against a smaller force.

hmm i like that idea. If they come back from the dead make em 75% of thier former self unless they res them selves at a waypoint.
Oh and in 75% of thier self means they come back with only 75% of thier original stats. If they die again lower by 5% till they are basicly zombies lol. Because its haunting when your people whipe out a zerg and some lost souls come and res everyone and continue the war.

Nice vid and your pretty good but that war in the end sucked. He healed to make the fight go on longer when he could have finished the knockeddown thief. Also he seemed lost most the time in that 1v1 and the downed state is not OP as clearly the thief went down first and the war got some hits in before going down. Idk what that war was doin but he got lucky.

Wow lots of drama here since i been gone.
GZ DR hopefully you move up and wvw isnt ruined anymore. I loved old DR.. all these guilds that hopped in to destroy the balance well its too late to do anything. you guys dont deserve to move up but w/e dont want more drama.

As for kain ppl leaving well i havent been on since last thursday. I usualy lead when no other leaders are on. Our server is great.. well used to be. No one listens to anyone on kain ppl just do whatever. Drax nice job on the overtime. Once i get back i will be starting a new guild focused on wvw for kain. I didnt want to since the alliance of main guilds was doin something. Now it just seems dead. So i will be makin a guild to bring us back. Hopefully people join and we can get kain back up and running. If no one joines well there isnt a cause worth fighting for but i will try alone.

Good luck to all and hope you guys been havin more fun than makin drama.

Also why do you people argue and act like hard stuff. Its just a game its ment to make fun not ruin it.

Longbow or Rifle

think what OP is trying to say is our ranged weapons suck. Any one can see a kill shot clear as day. Volley is easy to dodge as well since 2nd shot screams volley. Normal shot is pretty crappy bleeds do nothing since fire speed is slow. 7 1/2 second bleed and rifle fires slow so by the time you get 3rd shot off first bleeds ending. cripple shot does same dmg as auto atk but with cripple which is still crappy imo. Vuln shot is ok but dmg is low on it as well. Rifle butt is OG but misses fairly easily.

Bow fires slow with crap dmg on auto. firefan is ok since it does buring but dmg is weak sauce. Arch shot is slow but has great dmg and its aoe. blind shot is ok and so is the immbol. Brust is a fire field which is great. So only good skills on bow are brust and arch. 4/5 skill are utility which isnt really needed but its there. Arch shot also dosent cause burn dmg but it says it does.

War range is terribad. If they removed the bleed on rifle auto and made it 600-700 atk it would be great. criple could go up to 500, and vuln to 500 aswell. Because really no one likes doing 300-1k dmg with rifle at lvl 80 with full zerker gear.

I would pick rifle over LB any day though.

Ok I saw the pic. I was assuming it was real players but its just the test bots. Its easy to hit 20k on a blade trail to a bunch of enemies. Ive hit bout 12k on 6 ppl standing together. Sounds insane but idk if it is intended to do boat loads of dmg. It should build up for more ppl you hit but not insanely unless your throwing it through about 10-15 people.

I think i can put an end to this bs of who is good and who isnt. I switched to DR to get my obsidian shards and do cof cus its bugged on kain. Then i did wvw (dont worry im not a spy i didnt tell any kain what dr was doing, in fact i helped take half of fergs) While i was on kains map there were many kain and barley any DR. There were DR on other maps were other servers werent preset in high numbers. Then ppl finely got together and we took half of kains map then kain numbers broke. i was with the Baltimore style guild because they are great players. We took alot of stuff with 5 ppl while main zerg was getting no where. then after kain numbers were down all of DR was active. We had 97% of eternal, all of dr, most of ferg, most of kain. So its obvious night capping with a kitten ton of ppl is how most points in DR come from. During prime time is when the real stuff happens. Who ever wins during prime of both servers is better rest dosent matter. Overall points will never matter as DR outnumbers Kain and ferg 10:1 at night.

Spread all the BS you like but ive seen all this first hand.

Oh would also like to add; Kain has some terrible leading going on at times. especially last night just before kains prime ended. I was beating 1v6’s it was like the kain ppl were helpless sheeps cus they didnt fall back or charge in they kinda just wandered around aimlessly. This didnt happen once but many times during right before end of prime.

What i think you ppl should do is stop bragging for nothing because it dosent take much to cap and empty tower or keep. So lets just keep it fun.

Our older threads were great because no one bragged. We just discussed all the fun times we had but now its like ‘’i brag supa hard which shows how good we are’’ because i think everyone knows kitten well whos what and whos nothing.

Lets just keep it fun. Keep the drama and bragging BS out.

Kain ppl dont think im a traitor i had no other server to pick from since the thing kept saying all servers were full so i got lucky with temple being open and thought id do some research in wvw. I told no one nothing of cross server so everything was fair and i didnt bring my servers name down by spying.

So lets keep the fun battles up and the bragging for your shower.

to sum it up both sides suck one way or another and both sides are good in another way.

You can beat your chest and act hard all you want but when you get an out manned buff on 3 maps it shows how much PRO has screwed it up. Dont know where you guys came from and why you guys picked the bottom tier but when numbers are low down here and a huge guild moves in it destroys all balance.

On the SoS deal last night. You won because no one was listening. Chaster was trying super hard to get people to work but barley anyone listened so dont act like you achieved anything.

I dont hate you or any PRO but i hate that its hard to get even numbers on any given map. Good thing this isnt the problem all the time and is just for a couple of hours or longer sometimes.

Btw where you the Mesmer trying to destroy the catas from tower south east in Kain BL? Using portal to get back to the tower from where you where attacking from. I give you props on that crafty trick :P but i made sure i killed you once the wall fell. High-5

They havn’t ruined balance at all, they arn’t even winning this game yet. PRO hasn’t helped DR hold an eastern prime-time lead for more than 30 minutes yet this week. These are some of the closest fights in WVWVW on any servers, if ferg had 35-40 more people on a night spread out in the diffrent borderlands, it could be a 3 way tie.

They’ve done it 2 times now lol i dont think this week will make much difference unless us Kains get it together.

But all in all keep the drama for your mama. Play for fun guys we dont get any awards or millions of bucks for winning so stop accusing each other of bs and complaining. Dont take the fun factor out cus you get out smarted by a lesser force. It happens all the time just find a way to counter and keep it fun for everyone. Theres no need to create drama.

It’s not a bug. I believe that anything that hits 1 person then another gains dmg for every person it hits. The skills that do this should clearly indicate this. So for all the dumdums this isnt a bug. Ive hit 2-7k on bladetrails when it goes through many ppl.

Frozen i havent deleted any posts. And i did comment on your suggestion and also gave a suggestion. either they being deleted by mods or your tripping.

Yertle do you have any anti stun utility? i usualy have shadow step as my utility and it works pretty good for trolling as you can move between 2 places pretty quick and also cure stun or knockdown(not really cure but your pretty far from the person who stunned or knocked you down rendering thier combo uselss). It breaks the BR/HB combo and also gives you nice distance to prepare to counter. But very little time to react if they frenzy it.

Some ppl just here for ego trips. There are not even a handful of people in this thread that actuly want to get the thief balanced. They just dont want to miss their instagibs.

Thieves ARE balanced. You just want to be able to stomp over thieves as easily as you do every other class, o mighty warrior. I mean, your latest argument is basically: “Thieves are easy to kill but sometimes extremely skilled thieves can run away before I get a chance to obliterate them.”

Apparently they are NOT balanced…they’re being adjusted very soon, according to Anet, LOL. But all the pros in this thread will be fine, right? I mean, they’ll obviously adapt instead of relying on an OP crutch, right?

They’re being adjusted because the current arenanet is bad at balance. I mean, they think warriors are fine but thieves deserve hundreds of nerfs. come on. But yep, they’ll adapt. Until the bads that are whining for thief nerfs continue to whine for thief nerfs, anet gives in yet again, and eventually everything the thief has is 100% useless. Doesn’t matter how good you are, you can’t rip out someone’s heart with a sword made of cotton balls.

Tell me when thief is balanced when you can speck a 2 hit build on any other class to kill any one in 2 hits. Till then plz dont say they are balanced because they are definitely not.

I think greatsaw got the most loving. Chain sword/dagger/shield looked meh. sure the scythe got a lot of hype since well its a scythe and the other staff looks lil meh as well. But sword/dagger got it worse and hammer/axe/rifle didnt get anything right?

Because it was always like that. Good people play the game, bad people cry at rogues on forums. Never been other way in any mmo with official forums.
Edit: ill have to correct myself before anyone rages out at me. I don’t mind and actually am very happy with constructive report about overpowered things as well as broken ones. But seriously for most of complaints here, I can’t take anything seriously when those reports start with things that make me laugh. It makes me a bit uneasy and angry if some of fixes would be based on some of those.

my post was meant for more experienced thief players. As they are the only ones who know how to get out of a bad situation fast. The nubs are dead in one whirl but an experienced thief uses stealth skill and spams with 5 skill on SB to get away which dosent mean you can catch them on any given class.

So your complaint is that you can only stomp over inexperienced thieves without using any skill, and experienced thieves are able to not kill, but only escape, a very bad warrior. Got it.

I do not use frenzy on my war. but in wvw takin a 18k hit is a death sentence because that 18k isnt the only amount of dmg you take. I have 22.2k hp so i know this.

And how do you think the thief feels? two people auto-attacking a thief will kill him. Hell, getting accidentally caught in an AoE aimed at someone else will kill him.

And endure has a CD near basilisks CD. Sure it counters it but you wont have it up all the time to count every single basilisk you get hit with which are many as finding a thief alone is hard since they usually run in groups of 2+.

And exactly how much initiative do you think the thief has? That 5 SB skill that they’re apparently spamming costs a whopping 6 initiative per use… That’s half the default initiative bar… CnD is another 6… And if they don’t have the venom, your options for dealing with the thief increase significantly.

Also no good war uses endure in traits its stupid long on CD and useless since you only buy your self 4 seconds in which your already dead.

No good war? I don’t think you’d know a good war if it came up and rubbed your bum. 4 seconds of invulnerability is long enough to kill 4 thieves. (or long enough for 4 thieves to kill you, if you’re not invulnerable)

you should really check around other class forums so you know what sucks and what dosent. No thief with half a brain will go up against a war or any other class that has invincibility for a set time.

An experienced thief is a easy kill everyone knows this but since most ppl are thieves there is a high percentage of thieves who can move around pretty well and kill at the bunches. What im trying to say is thief has way too much mobility and they can use this mobility with loads of stealth so you wont see em coming and once they stealth after their combo fails they’re gone.

I havent complained once in all my posts so maybe you should get your ego out of here and actually discuss how to improve this class any 5 year old can pick up and kill someone in 3-4 keytaps.

Also you can use the 5 skill in SB 3 times with the extra init trait which most BS thieves have.

You listed 3 weapon sets, only two of which cant be at same time and both of them share same initiative pool. And shadowstep is an utility skill on a long cooldown.
I am full exotic zerk P/P thief with single defensive thing i have is my hide in shadows heal for quite some time now. And there was not even a single time I was one shot by anything or suffered instakill from a sole person. Where are you people coming from?

Its a rare sight to see a thief with P/P in wvw. Always had a question what do you P/P wvw players use as a build? SB is getting lame after 2 months of use.

Please refrain from using Ad Hominem arguments when you don’t even know me, it only shows that you need to belittle others to feel good about yourself, its not constructive and completely unneeded.

Onto your points, the thing about the glass cannon bs thief bouncing back after failing the combo once is that:
1: you know he failed and will attempt it again
2: you would probably run away as fast as you can

Staying mobile and never stop moving is a great way to counter anything really. And yes, i know thieves have more mobility than any other profession, but it doesn’t hurt to try and run away does it?

one does not simply out run a thief. They have 1 built in skill on SB to get to you. Built in skill in dag, another in sword, and have shadow step utility. Also i dont need to say things on a forum of a game talkin to ppl i never met or ever will and put stuff in my posts that will make me feel better. Just here to discuss a insta win class that needs a change to get it balanced.

my post was meant for more experienced thief players. As they are the only ones who know how to get out of a bad situation fast. The nubs are dead in one whirl but an experienced thief uses stealth skill and spams with 5 skill on SB to get away which dosent mean you can catch them on any given class.

I do not use frenzy on my war. but in wvw takin a 18k hit is a death sentence because that 18k isnt the only amount of dmg you take. I have 22.2k hp so i know this.

And endure has a CD near basilisks CD. Sure it counters it but you wont have it up all the time to count every single basilisk you get hit with which are many as finding a thief alone is hard since they usually run in groups of 2+. @Alistar again after reading your cancerous reply to the other 3 ppl. Forums are to discuss anyone can discuss what ever they want. If you want to delete that then you are basically asking for the whole class topic to be deleted. Nerf/buff calls are common so stop takin em to heart.

So ive been testing loads of builds. So i do know what im talkin about and have ACTUALLY READ other ppls threads on this topic.

That’s in WvW you get orb bonus, obviously your going to get hit a lot more if the other server has all 3 orbs.

Please refrain from posting if u have no idea what you are talking about, you’ll only embarrass yourself and undermines your argument, however invalid it already is.

I think what Anet should be doing is fixing all the bugs and useless/unviable traits/skills before talking anything about balance. This will open up the options for every class which may (but most likely not, judging from the community) stop the whining because they may have a way to counter. Even if they are looking to balance, it should not be done around WvW which is based on unbalanced wars (like in real life).

Its not the raw damage spike that everyone is complaining about, its the gimmicky and swift execution of said combo. Any of these 2 things can be done to make execution harder:
1: make steal interrupt casting (same should go for any other skill that has a teleport with a secondary effect)
2: make steal not apply basilisk venom
Please Anet, if you are going to nerf raw dmg because of the complaints from the other classes, PLEASE listen to the actual thief community when it comes to buffs, e.g. p/p is completely underpowered and yet nothing has been done about it. Right now my perception of your balance teams motto is “Nerf Thieves, Buff Warriors”

I know more than you do sir. You are just being ignorant. I do not want thieves to be destroyed as i like playing mines but i also dont want them to be the ‘’i win vs anyone in 3 seconds’’ class.
Ive probably had more wvw experience than you have if you will play that card on me. You can ask anyone out there that isnt a instagib lover that thieves need a rework.

My examples are accurate as they get and you probably know this. You just havent fought enough thieves on other classes as i have or anyone else for that matter.

There are only 2 ways to counter thief instagib combo but thieves have a way to bounce back and start the counter with no time loss again. I would love to show you what i am talkin about. So you can see for your self how thieves are being played.

But i see what you are trying to say in you suggestion. I think SnD has like what cost of 5 to use? then the stealth 1 skill shud have the cost of 2-3 so the same combo cant be spammed. Could be a good change so if you counter it they dont bounce back and start same combo again.. well for a while but you will be more aware when they come back knowing they got 1 shot at the BS combo.

there is a forum post that shows a guy hitting for 18k with backstab.

Many posts with 8ks aswell which isnt much since those are the nub thieves but they can still dish out more dmg after that as there are many further combos to the known combos.

My first character was a thief btw. Condition built since i didnt want to join the instagib bandwagon.

No other class can deal anywhere near 18k dmg.

Most classes can easily top 14k damage instantly or near-instantly, and that’s enough to kill a thief. 14k, 18k, 200k… doesn’t matter, they’re all a dead thief.

By the way, Basilisk venom has already been nerfed to near-uselessness. You should probably get caught up on balance before trying to be an authority on it.

then i think you dont see what ive seen past 2 weeks in wvw. Thief comes in uses basilisk venom then the said combo begins. Also im sure it dosent matter how much dmg it takes to kill a thief since if i get lucky and my aoe hits em its usually 1 whirlwind and they’re history but soon as their combo fails they spam 5 skill on SB and are gone like the wind.

Killing a thief is easy catching it is the hard part. Besides your insta 14k wont matter when they insta 18k and then dance on your dead body.

When you get to the charr tank part and get to use it, its massively bugged. Every time I move it to the side it kicks me off and keeps turning. I am really aggravated because of this and just stopped doing it because it would keep kickin me off it and keep turning.
