Remove energy cost from weapon skills

No. This would make rev roo similar to orher classes. Taking away energy requirements of weapons would mean increasing recharge time of utilities and weapons too. Rev is about managing energy and, not spamming every skill on CD. This is a terrible change that I see suggested too often.

Um, idk if you noticed but most of the time we’re stuck auto attacking due to utilities AND weapon skills costing energy. Even if you manage your energy well you still cant make much use of your abilities. You kitten your self if you dont use your weapon/utilities and when you do use them you kitten your self due to energy costs on everything. It’s a lose/lose.

Rev will never be same as any other class even if you take off energy costs on weapon skills. We got forced utilities that we have no choice over once you pick your 2 legends. You got a wonky half finished class that doesnt know its own identity. Rev is super sloppy and has been since release due to the way energy works.

Longbow is good for both power and condi. Rifle is fine as well. We dont need more power creep. I would rather have better changes to other stuff and spellbreaker than just asking for buffs on weapons that dont need it.

I think you should play soulbeast again before saying something so controversial. Spellbreaker was mega fun and mega powerful in the right hands.

Holosmith, however could really tone it down.

It felt pretty stale and Ive been playing warrior since this game came out. We got trash tier boon removal along with an unreliable pull. The only good thing about spellbreaker is how good it is with GS/mace/shield or GS/hammer.

D/D is a joke. You give up damage and mobility to receive practically nothing new to warrior.

The only fun thing on spellbreaker is counter, which you give up scaling burst skills for. I like the idea but its executed in a meh kinda way. The elite is nice but the cast time doesnt make it worth it. You can get punished harshly trying to cast that thing to make it worth using.

Don’t get me wrong, spec is fun but it needs some changes. The traits are very basic except for the grandmaster ones. I dont think it will be pve viable at all since anything it does core classes have with other better tools.

For example do you ever see any of the following being useful in their current state: break enchantments, imminent threat, sight beyond sight, and loss aversion?

Like maybe you could do a super boon removal build but at what cost? Our class is so basic and dull that we are forced to take things like berserker stance, endure pain, and balanced stance. Counter gives us outplay potential but thats 1 skill from the whole thing

I’m finding spellbreaker to be quite enjoyable, and I’ve never liked warrior before. I’m using D/D + Rifle, with Strength, Defense and Spellbreaker (duh), with the new heal, Bull’s Charge (yes, you read it right), Balanced Stance, Endure Pain, and Rampage.

The survivability is fair, the damage people claim is low but I find it hits decently, similar to thief (not dead eye) which is what Spellbreaker actually feels similar to. Classes designed to get kills don’t usually have skills that hit extremely high, they are good at chaining abilities and landing decent hits, not necessarily trying to land a gimmick shot.

Offhand dagger brings the burst and 5 is fair cleave, and invaluable defense against the dead eyes, dragon hunters and pewpew rangers. It lacks mobility, so rifle is needed for classes like thief than can dart in and out, and it’s good single target damage from ranged. Bull’s charge helps a lot; it’s very versatile, much like all skills thieves take. It can engage, damage, escape, or interrupt. It’s good to follow up with 4 or get to those pesky dead eyes and show them they should go back to core thief.

Without a defensive weapon though, you really need to learn to use full counter. It brings a very new concept to warriors, because it requires this thing called timing. Yup, this elite spec requires you to think on warrior! It’s brilliant, and about time the devs went in that direction. You need the new heal for cleanse, because while you can deal with conditions fairly well with a 27k health pool, you lack cleanse, and that heal is all you have. Plus, it’s a huge heal, which is really needed with marauder warrior.

No Discipline? Tried it, didn’t work as well as Strength and Defense. Defense brings you vigor and stances. You could take discipline, sure, and it would work ok, but this build doesn’t really need fast hands, and the burst skills aren’t that great, plus you want to ensure you always keep 1 bar full for full counter on demand. Kill shot is too telegraphed and the dagger burst skill is alright for the boon strip to chain into an interrupt, but that’s all. It’s utility, not damage. Strength is needed for the GM that gives you back endurance on might gain, which you get often with the AA chain of dagger main hand. Combine that with reckless dodge, (which I still disagree with) and you’re throwing damage out everywhere, and on that note, is why you take Defense. The vigor with the stances really adds to your endurance as well, synergising with dagger AA and Strength GM. Of course, the healing and the stance’s usual effects add more much needed survivability, even if the minor healing trait is significantly lessened with only level 1 burst skills available.

It is essentially rifle thief. Ironic eh? Because the actual rifle thief is awful.

I like the outplay potential but you give up a lot for a small amount of new tricks. Also deadeye is pretty dank. Does more dmg than our rifle while having more utility.

Hopefully some buffs for d/d range/damage wise are due along with elite skill getting a lower cast time. Mage bane tether is nice but i wish after you landed a burst you could manually pull with a f3 that becomes available.

Zero reason to take spellbreaker

Only thing I can think of is the aoe boon strips and reveals for pvp. Other than that, a vanilla power warrior who goes into Strength, Defence and Discipline with Might Makes Right is better. Puts out a lot more pressure than Spellbreaker.

why take spell breaker when you have scourge with sand sade aoes and elite converts every boon to condition

For high resistance uptime, condi clearing, the ability to toss condis right back in their face, superior cc, boon ripping, and general ass whoopery.

I seriously think the majority of you are playing a totally different game/have invested absolutely zero time in understanding what you’ve been given.

Yeah man like Lighter said, SB doesnt do much that other classes do better while having other great utility/damage.

You get level 1 bursts with a weapon set where you give up mobility and damage for a very low amount of utility. The 2nd line of traits feel weak compared to the first line and other classes 2nd trait lines. Condi still puts you in the dirt. New heal is nice but can only do so much. Fleetfoot is good and resonable. Boon stripping is there but using d/d means you give up way too much. Mace/shield do better at removing boons while giving you way more utility.

Sight beyond sight sucks, along with the taunt and aoe boon removal utility. I could see no reason to take these 3 in their current state when you can take more useful utilities. The elites cast time is so long that by the time it finishes you have taken too much damage.

At the current state core warrior and zerker straight up outshine spellbreaker. Theres 0 reason to take spellbreaker unless you want to give up a lot to have some boonremoval, access to a weak weapon set compared to current weapons, below average utility skills, an elite that needs a faster cast time to be useful, and a trait line that only works if you can decently remove boons. Magebane tether is great but i dont see my self replacing a useful trailine for it.

Also this is just for wvw/pvp alone. In pvp it has nice uses i wont seny that but in wvw it is so not worth using. In pve we already know it does less compared to core war/zerker.

Just feels like another year of war getting trolled.

I feel like I said too many negative things.

On a positive note. Full counter is really nice and magebane tether a dream come true. The spec works nicely with GS/mace/shield. Or GS/hammer. Mace/shield make great use of the SB traitline with the boonremoval on CC. Axe/dagger is nice too because of the reflect on dagger 5 but dagger 4 feels awkward in that setup.

I really like the idea behind the elite aside from its cast time. The heal is great for condi clear with a nice amount healed. Fleetfood feels really good by being simple yet effective on a reasonable cooldown.

At the current rate, the only thing I feel spellbreaker has going for it is the traitline and fleetfoot. Other than that everything else feels like a step backwards. D/D has low dmg no mobilty, long cds for skills that dont do much. On top of all of this low range and slow.

I think Dagger f1 should be 600 range and dagger 2 450 range. If dagger 4 is going to be 130 range it should have a faster cast. Dagger 5 just needs a little dmg boost then it will be fine. Auto need a dmg boost honestly.

As for our super hyped elite. The cast time alone is a huge issue. On top of that the 90s cd. CD is fine but the cast has to be lowered to 1s not 1.5s.

The traits are the only good thing but some feel lackluster and there end up being clear winners. Honestly after 5 years/6k hours on war and this happening again doesnt feel great.

As Ferus said. I really hope they consider buffs on dagger and the elite.

Might be an unpopular opinion but i like fractals a lot more now. It seems people get triggered as soon as some hard content comes out. Although it would be nice to receive better rewards for harder fractals.

I did the new fractal for the first time yesterday on the t3 difficulty and it was really fun. Had to actually do things according to the mechanics of the bosses instead of sit in front of boss and dps. That stuff is boring and doesnt have any value imo. Its not that difficult when you get it down tbh. Super enjoyable.

Just my opinion dont get tiggered.

I’ve played the game since launch and did VG to last boss upon release but havent done raids since then. Can’t really find a group but would love to do raids due to me pretty much not having done raids. I kinda remember what I did in VG but not fully. So just trying to learn.

I have all raid mastery and im a dps ps war.

Would be nice to raid but cant get in any groups

What happened was the fan base wasn’t happy with the living story so we switched to an expansion model and the expansion didn’t do well. That’s what happened. If the expansion had done better, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Whats even more sad is they’ve ditched more than half of the things you’ve listed already. If that wasnt enough they hit the player base while its down by saying new xpac time B O I Z. At least complete the kitten kitten thats making a mess of the game before jumping on to the new cash grab.

New skins every two weeks but not much content for a long while(nice raid wing bro /facepalm).

It makes you too squishy for nothing in return pretty much. I really feel like the utilities we got are useless and headbutt should not stun you. It feels really out of place and weak. You end up giving too much to grab berserker and berserker has nothing in it. Playing normal warrior is better than going berserker.

Everyone is doing tons of dmg with tons of utility while we are just doing the same dmg only more squishier with useless utilities. The whole combo with berserker feels like just hitting headbutt to go into berserk mode then face rolling on the keyboard. Its so stupid and braindead. We didn’t need more of this as warriors we already had enough of that.

The utilities need to be redone into useful things. Don’t gate berserk mode to adrenaline. Give it its own meter that doesn’t deplete unless out of combat. Let us go in and out of it like necro death shroud. It should give us 5 new skills for the 1-5 like druid. It could include useful things for us that we really need like an aoe pull or even a single target pull. Let the current utilities function like they do currently when you enter the above given berserk mode. While you are out of berserk mode these utilities act different like druids glyphs.

My mind is a big mumble jumble right now but I dont see me ever using any of the new utilities on a real build except headbutt maybe. Even headbutt is iffy because of the random stun.

Warrior feels like its so cruthed upon passives atm and thats really boring and skilless. The class atm is really mindless and just feels worse than it ever did compared to other classes.

There have been a lot of negatives and a lot of positives but I really think all this new content is a great refresh for someone who started playing 3 years ago during release. I loved the game but didn’t have anything to do since the content could be cleared so fast.

Yes there are a lot of bugs and a lot of unbalanced stuff right now but its the release of new things and no game has gotten it perfectly off the bat. Give it time and things will get fixed(hopefully)

Im not going to ride the white knight train and only give you the positives because lets face it, there have been a lot of mess ups this time around. In the end however, its the first expac of gw2 and it brought a lot of needed new changes.

I think i have pretty much done all of what has been released so far. I’ve finished the 4 new maps which have been really fun but they come with their downsides too. The mastery system is cool and all but gating everything was becoming a bit annoying. The third map is a real mess because of how it has a lot of little sections within the map. On top of that the Chak Gerent is a real pain and its the only thing im missing to finish my full rev armor. I loved Auric Basin and love the Exalted so thank you for that anet.

The story was good but felt rushed towards the end. Also there were many bugs along the way that ppl have been getting but I only had the run in of one bug. Which was the Scout lute frog dude not wanting to talk. That was fixed the next day which was great.

As for pvp class balance, I’m sure everyone knows the state of that(lol).

I attached a picture of the 4 gifts from the new maps. It was fun getting them but I think they are also bugged. I completed the maps on Revenant and got full map reward where as my friends who did it on other classes haven’t gotten anything. So there’s that.

I hope you guys have a great day and thank you for the read. Don’t let the little things turn this expansion down for yah. There will always be negatives so just keep it positive.

You cant compare war axe to rev sword. Warrior has tons of ways of doing dmg where rev currently needs sword to do dmg in melee. Don’t make the ‘’my class needs to be a special snowflake’’ argument. I’ve played warrior for 6k hours and I can tell you that comparing axe to rev sword is a stupid argument. War has a lot of multipliers to dmg and can easily out burst a rev. Ive been playing rev since BWE2 and it takes all the resources a rev has to be able to burst.

Wars just have to hit stuff and do dmg and not worry about much but keeping defensive cooldowns in check. Where rev has to make sure to upkeep certain things to boost certain aspects all while managing cooldowns and energy. ON TOP OF THAT, rev also needs to keep its active dmg boosters going and switching between them. UA dies in dmg outside of a 1v1 and the only burst you can actually say rev has is sword auto after a UA to stack might. Unless you use shiro’s quickness you aren’t going to be throwing out mad deeps like warrior can.

So please do not compare them. There is literally no similarity.

I’ve already asked that question and the answer is NO. Sadly to know that cuz I like Condi more.
Condi DPS is twice weaker than Power.

condi is way stronger than power lmao. Maybe not in pve but in pvp/wvw hell yes. You only need condi dmg to do dmg and can get defensive stats without a worry where as power builds need 3 stats and have to split into 5 whole stats to not get 1 shot. Also power has to worry about opponent armor where condi has to give 0 kittens.

I noticed this as well:

Sword- Unrelenting assault misses hits for no reason or does no dmg but animation still goes off.

Also I don’t think hammer 5 should go on a full cool down. Its cast time is super long and you have to cancel it a lot and having it go on full CD and taking 15 energy is a major hit. It goes against what is supposed to be intended. It should not go on a full CD that’s ridiculous.

I don’t like the staff nerf. You had to position perfectly in order to land all the hits on it and that took a lot of effort but w/e. Phase Traversal nerf isn’t too bad but 3 seconds would have been better.

We have a lot of bugs which I think should be dealt with first.
Hammer 5 goes on full cd if canceled. Hammer 2 still bugs out like crazy on inclines and it doesn’t hit at its full animation range. Sword 5 still doesn’t pull all the time and sword 5 also has huge connectivity issues. Staff 4 doesn’t remove condition 99% of the time. UA still bugs out and stops entirely if used near a wall and same issue with jalis’s hammers.

Mallyx feels really under tuned and same with jalis/ventari. Jalis taunt should just be a pull. Also Inspiring Reinforcement needs to be 2s stab. Ventari still needs a lot of work I have only used it once in a fractal 64 for the projectile destroy and condi removal. The tablet needs to auto spawn on legend swap and move with the revenant. It should be command-able to move and should auto return if it goes at a set range. Also mallyx’s unyielding anguish doesn’t seem to be a 600 range leap. It feels much less for some reason.

Hammer 3 needs to have a faster cast the jump seems to have a little delay before fully hitting the ground. Staff 2 should just be a daze with one part. The two part thing is not a good design. Axe 5 needs to have a wider pull range because it’s too small atm. Sword 4 part 2 needs a range increase to 500 at least. It feels really small.

Aside from that we have a lot of traits that I think will never see play at all. A lot of them being grandmasters which is really sad. Dismantled fortifications, maniacal persistence, and bolster fortifications, enhanced bulwark are some of the few.

I felt really weak when i switched on and put jalis, ventari, or mallyx. It seems Shiro and glint are fully complete. Jalis is almost there it just needs a minor buff to the road, taunt could be a pull, and the hammer spawns not being buggy. Mallyx needs some more pressure and compatibility with the grand master traits. I also still dont know why pain absorption is on the bar since it provides pretty much nothing except for more resist. Ventari needs the tablet spawn on switching to ventari really badly. Ventari also needs regen coming from the tablet baseline and that not being a trait anymore.

Its one of the greatest decisions. 400 was stupid steep and you pretty much had to do most of the new content and old to get something you couldn’t enjoy because you did everything. This is a valid change and really appreciated. There’s nothing negative from this so there shouldn’t be any reason to be against it.

A Few Problems with Rev

Jade winds has one of the most easy to see animations so i dont see a problem there. Just dodge…

Sword has dmg on auto and UA(if only used on one person otherwise its only used defensively) This is normal. I don’t know why this is an issue. So the weapon has dmg on its auto only and UA which is situation.

Now for weak points. CC/condi destroy rev. A lot of the current revs are running squishy builds and once ppl learn the skills its going to be a cake walk. Revs dmg output is all it has going for it on shiro. On Glint its supportive. All in all you have two huge weaknesses and your only plus thing is dmg or support which ever you spec for.

If you want to say something is OP then look at perma chill reaper bursts, chrono alac/invul with crazy bursts, and dragonhunter with insane dmg. All of these easily out dps rev and out do rev in team fights very easily. There haven’t been many jalis tank builds/hybrids so for now dmg or full bunk rev is the only way ppl are going.

There is insane amounts of damage flying around at the moment. Rev is doing close to top dmg but it doesnt have or provide what the other classes have access to. It is very easy to shut down and counter a rev. Its VERY VERY easy. Jade winds is the least of your worries.

revenant has an animation/cast time before going into UA. Smokescale does it instantly after disappearing. Smokescale seems buggy and isn’t working like the Rev UA is.

No one likes random dps with no cast/animation.

rev is the new class. If you think it is going to be anything other than overpowered at the beginning, you are not being realistic. This is ANET’s new class. They can’t release it and have it be horrible. Instead, they will release it unbalanced and overpowered and then tone it down later.

I honestly think Reaper and Chrono are more powerful than rev

Pretty much. Reaper can do insane bursts and have almost 100% chill uptime. Chrono can burst or save a whole point with those over the top wells. An evade well that doesn’t put point cap cancel is lolz.

Hey there OP. Before we get started I just want to say I already knew what to expect since it’s pretty straight forward atm on how clueless some players are when fighting Revenant. So these videos and threads are irrelevant.

As for the video. Your first fight would have ended instantly if the people you fought knew what they were fighting against and if they were better at the game. You made a lot of mistakes and they didn’t know anything.

They fully healed you almost every time you used glints heal. They also never dodged anything and often wasted their dodges on nothing because of panic. They didn’t bother interrupting or ressing when you downed the first guy so that alone shows what you were dealing with. Not to mention the engi just auto attacked on rifle pretty much all fight long lol.

I don’t know the point of your thread based on what the video is. The only ppl crying OP and asking for rev nerfs are the ones either fighting as a rev vs clueless ppl or being one of the clueless people themselves.

If you clearly look we can be stun and condi spammed very easily. Rev has to stay active or get destroyed. You will see the struggle when you are fighting against ppl who know what you do and what they can do to you. It’s really easy to shut down a rev if you know what they do and they have an okay idea. If both the rev and the enemy are good players and know all the skills both are capable of using then it will favor the build or who ever makes the mistake first. If you fight a burst player you will die unless you put threat out first. If you are fighting a heavy condi or cc user you will die very easily unless they make huge mistakes. There are many ways to shut revs down completely. Just give it time and you will realize and see it when its more familiar as a class.

This is balanced. Please don’t make these pointless threads because they show nothing and prove nothing. You are fighting clueless ppl that seem a bit bad. There is nothing special about this.

I will admit though that was pretty funny in the start where you aoed the whole area at the sentry when none of the guys in the circle dodged or did anything to counter lol.

been takin 16-18k gunflames. It outclasses killshot so hard because it does double the dmg and you can move around. The tell is a bit hard to tell since moving around where as in killshot your guy kneels.

Jalis and ventari feel really underwhelming :/ Cant tank much or heal much since so much dmg flying around. The taunt on jalis could use a faster projectile. Feels really clunky still. Also the yellow brick road skill on jalis is pretty bad because it doesn’t give noticeable stab unless you force your self to sit there.

For ventari the tablet needs to auto spawn and follow you around. It needs to provide a stronger heal when passing through and a faster projectile speed.

I hope you guys know how radical’s this skill “Phase Traversal” is? I’m dumbfounded how no one is talking about it in the forums. Teleporting up mountains and through houses. No class can out run you nor can they catch you. Its the one and only thing I see that unbalances the Revenant class. It really should have a 5 second timer or a cost of 35 energy or decrees teleporting a person to 900 distance. Am I the only one not making a wish list on the forums but trying to give sound advice in the hope of balance?

You’re only seeing it because you’re watching others spam away. When you spam that to get to someone you are left with no energy. You are forced to switch and when you get off of shiro your dps takes a hit. Its energy cost is good and it does what its supposed to. If you spam it you are a free kill. That is why no one is talking about it because its a suicide button if you spam it.

It is like the first time all the new specs come into play. Surely people don’t understand the mechanics will die.

Same thing after June patch. People say damage is too high and now everyone is playing easy cheesy bunker spec and face tank all the damage.

yes thats a valid point but there is a lot of dmg flying around. A lot of aoe dmg doing insane dmg. With the super flashy animations sometimes its really hard to figure out what from what because everything starts melding together once a fight on point starts.

Chrono point control

What are your guy’s thoughts on the control ability of a chrono. The evade well doesn’t trigger point cap prevention so its look a bit steep for me with all the strong wells.

Combat -- Horrendously Bad?

I can’t help but think that substituting actual RPG mechanics for action mechanics is console-y and actually pretty pathetic. All I’m saying is, even in it’s currently severely dumbed-down state, WoW has:

Attack Power
Spell Power
Intelligence
Stanima
Armor
Avoidance
Strength
Dexterity
Mastery
Versatility
Haste
Multistrike
Crit
Spirit
Dodge
Block
Parry

As far as I can tell, at least for my Thief, GW2 has:

Precision
Power
Armor
Vitality

In addition, I have a very simple 2-key rotation (auto-attack and heartseeker). Using the blind + heartseeker combo to get into stealth seems to be a clunky and expensive way to get a little bit of stealth. It also takes quick and accurate mouse action to accomplish in a useful manner.

WoW’s combat is based on age old games. Its only limited to stats and cooldowns which doesn’t involve much but just hitting things on rotations while you stand still.

If you end up giving gw2 more time and you become more familiar then you will start to like it. A lot of mmos now days are more about active combat. The stand still/stat based/CD based combat system is very old.

It was weird getting used to gw2s combat because I played the old cd/stat based mmos. I love gw2s combat after playing the game for so long because it has a lot of depth to it and requires the player to be good actively with their class. You have to keep moving and fighting which adds so much depth to the game. On top of that you have to manage your cooldowns and keep track of your combos, because there are so many different combos you can do that define your playstyle.

Gw2s combat gives the player their identity and shows how different players play. Sure you will see similar builds and playstyles but then the aspect of mastering that class/build come in and thats what gives the game a skill cap. Of course there are lame builds that don’t require you to think much(cheese builds) but those are in every game and aren’t easy to get rid of.

I would say just give it time and try it out. You can always go back to WoW.

If norn didnt have stubby legs with gigantic bodies/arms I would have loved to roll a norn when the game started. They look goofy and sound goofy in combat >.> plus a lot of armor is really stretched on on them.
