Farming is allowed, and encouraged. Abusing a bug (exploit) in order to farm is not.

As far as stuff to do? There is plenty to do. Tired of doing a 15 min dungeon run? Try doing the same run, but clearing every mob. Did you also know that some of the dungeons have hidden areas and secret bosses/encounters? Try to find them all!!
Working your way toward ascended or a legendary? Instead of farming gold through dungeons and buying what you need, try farming for ALL of it. Everything can be gotten in game, and at a decent pace, if you know where to go. Try to get the belchers bluff title. Or the yak slapper title. Why not try to solo a complete dungeon, every path, while using say Nomads gear or something?

If Anet were to continually put out new “content” in the form that you are thinking, then any of the “old” content would quickly become irrelevant and dead.

Okay man you are lost. Farming is NOT encouraged in this game. When ever someone finds a farm and shares it anet goes kitten mode and nerfs it. The people who make real gold that is messing with the tp are the people who get on the game to play ONLY the TP. The people who make gold off of pve have to play for several hours to make the same amount of a gold a tp player makes in 10 minutes.

Farming is not a gw2 thing. This game has gold sinks out the butt and they keep basing the gold in the market off the people with insane amounts of gold. This method reks new players and people who are casuals have no chance at getting any gold to mean anything. Basic zerker stuff for pve costs 7g and stuff and for a new player it takes a while to get 7g.

The amount of content in this game is very VERY low. It caters to new players joining the game while old players linger and torture them selves waiting on real content. You can clown your way through most dungeons now days.

This game has many issues and everyone already knows them so lets not waste time on that. But back on topic, farming has never been encouraged. That is why DR and RNG plague every player in this game.

On topic, yes wow has many updates because its still one game and has served players for many years. They release a lot of content because they have their rhythm down.

Gw2 on the other hands is doing good and has the moneyz trust me lol. The only problem is the higher uppers aren’t giving devs much freedom and change their plans a lot which is the reason for the small amount of content every month. Imo the only reason this game is still in a good position is because new players. New players are the main reason for Gw2 doing good. Ive seen many big guilds ive been in all empty because the old players don’t get on anymore.

That is another reason there hasn’t been an uproar as to why small content keeps coming out. The new players don’t question it…yet.

It would be so easy to exploit that. Make a character, channel home instance skillpoint, starter boss skillpoint, and maybe another starter zone skillpoint… they’d have to make it so skill challenges are once per account.

that seems like a lot of effort for one skill point. It would be faster to lvl again on one of your characters that are already 80. There is no negative side to account bound skill points. Only thing that will be noticeable is low levels having every skill. Which wont really matter to people who have already been playing the game long enough to have excess skill points. So new people should be fine to learning the game.

It is a plus for both new and old players.

The change makes sense but the only thing I am worried about is all the random blinds and blocks thrown around these days. Thieves will wreck your face now since they have access to so many blinds.

I think they should nerf down blinds from other classes so they aren’t thrown around so easily. If this happens this change will be justified otherwise it just seems like a straight up nerf with nothing in return.

didnt die. Downed but rally like a boss. Just required lots of dodging and avoiding the big aoes. Was fun. I love single player content so this was a treat. Too bad there was no real reward.

every class can heal. Pretty much any class can be an aoe healer. If you spec for all heals then warrior, ele, guard, and engi can be pretty much called your main healers.

I’m not even sure where to begin with this. You mean 20 minutes of content ignoring all the events, the new weapon skins you can craft, trying to get a zone to tier 5 for the best rewards on stuff.

Or 20 minutes just doing the stories without the optional achievements?

Because so far, I’ve spent hours in the NEW AREA. Oh right, there’s a new area. It’s a cool area. Lots of people seem to like it.

It’s not 20 minutes of new content, unless you only count story missions, which is not all the new content.

Events dont count. They are just the same events we already have all over the game. As for crafting the skins. Thats optional and they dont look like they are worth the bother.

Im talking about new content which was just the 20 min story. I dont know how long you been playing but this is no real content.

You don’t seem to understand why the ability to disengage is important.

No, they haven’t been defeated. Being able to get beyond your reach allows them to reset a fight at their leisure. During the time that you can’t hit them, healing signet is ticking away and whatever CDs they may have burned are coming back up. Yes, your CDs are doing the same. The main strength here is the ability to regen quickly while out of reach. It’s the same reason that many people have issues with thieves running heavy stealth and shadow’s rejuvenation.

People complain because there is a very small window of time during which these sort of builds are truly committed to an engagement. And if any mistakes are made, they have ample opportunity to simply slip away and try again. Hopefully you can see how that could make even something like GS and Sword/Warhorn, no serious threat, potentially problematic.

Again, I’m not necessarily saying that this is completely broken, or that’s it’s rush or healing signet in particular. But it’s still worth questioning whether or not you want to force players to commit to fights or not. Especially since that decision has been made in the past.

That goes both ways. If the other person breaks combat then you have the same opportunity. Most people complain and keep chasing and keep them selves in combat while the other person runs off and they come back and beat the complainer. If those people just learned to keep their cool and also reset the fight they are on fair footing but instead we get these threads.

No offense but I don’t think you would be able to defeat any skilled person with this setup out in the open unless you caught em on low hp. The only real burst that you have is final thrust on sword MH, because hammer is terrible for damage and only good for cc.

With your build, the only way I feel you could burst anyone down would be for superior sigil of intelligence to activate when swapping to sword rather than hammer, followed by a final thrust. You should not have that sigil on your hammer.

Hammer does a lot of burst damage with merciless hammer and sigil of impact. Even with his build.

He can easily get a good combo off. Maybe a 3K Backbreaker, 2.5K Staggering Blow, 2K Earthshaker followed by a 3K Fierce Blow, if all four of these attack crit. He will be able to get off a decent 10K combo assuming all of these attacks hit.

I don’t know if you realize this but those numbers are pretty low if you put in a sigil and a trait to ’’increase’’ dps of hammer. I can do about 5k back breaker and fierce blow with 4.5ks on staggering and earthshaker. The auto hits from 2k to 4k and this is without the impact sigil and the trait. So you can tell there is no dps increase by wasting a trait slot and a sigil slot. Your target has to be CCed for those things to trigger and with all the stability and if your enemy isnt a kitten and can dodge the KDs you aren’t doing any more dmg than a person without that sigil and trait.

Why do these threads exist. I mean unless you are running away constantly from every fight and the warriors catch up to you and do you dirty well that just means you should improve on actually fighting instead of running.

Those mobility warriors with GS/s/h usually don’t do any damage or pose a serious threat unless you surprise afk. I’ve never really cared about mobility.

If someone runs off then let em run go do something else and if you run and get killed you can go work on the actual fight. There is no real reason for these threads to exist unless you’re a pve mob that’s getting farmed by warriors or someone who plays tpvp. In tpvp mobility will only take you so far.

Weakness of warrior? knowing exactly what you are fighting and easily finding wide open moments to do your own burst on them. There arent any complex warrior builds like other classes so most warriors rely on dodging and using our given abilities.

Still though you can kill a good warrior if you are good just as you can kill a good thief if you are good. This goes for all classes. Warriors are very predictable as we get obvious animations and very bland skills.

Ive played warrior since release and yes they can build into any build and be good at it but they cant be good at everything. I think this should be shared between all classes. I mean sure some builds are better than others but thats the deal on every class.

Mace/Shield + GS still viable in WvW?

the point of a skullcrack build is to be at max toughness “full Cav gear” and using “Unsuspecting Foe” trait to be at 100% crit chance once you stun your enemy.

Actually I’m glad they didn’t do this. I understand how people can think this would be wonderful, but practically speaking it becomes a balance nightmare and it’s doubtful you’d actually gain much play-style variety in anycase. Most builds will still only come down to a handful of optimal skills and traits.
I like to think this is one of those cases where ANet said something, then sat down and realised that it wasn’t a very good idea. I’d rather they change their mind that go ahead with dumb ideas.

They can barley balance what they already have out. They are taking the wrong steps to do balance by listening to the ‘’nerf this/buff this’’ threads that give no reasons as to why. Which ever issue gets the most ‘’nerf/buff’’ threads happens. They need to look at their test groups results and actual discussion topics on actual ‘’nerf/buff’’ threads rather than the crying babies that come to the forums to whine on things they lose to.

I say the new stat combo has no value because the pve content in this game just requires you to do dmg. So if you aren’t doing dmg you’re doing it wrong. If they do a major haul to pve more builds will see the light of day. As of now All you need is dmg to do pve(except for world bosses because you can just crutch on soldiers for that).

The new stat is not the problem here, you are the problem.

It may come as a surprise to you, but there is also something called WvW and PVP. You should try them sometime, they’re quite fun. For you to demand that everything must be for PVE is selfish.

Anyways, try the new stat combo in WvW or PVP on a guardian sometime, you may be astonished at the affectiveness of it.

Not all life is PVE.

As ive said ive played for a while and most of it was in wvw so no need to bother telling others how to play the game.

As for your argument. The stat set is not viable even in wvw and for pve no one will waste time on it as its not needed. In wvw if you got bunch of these guys running around they wont matter if the other side has the same zerg builds. If you got half a zerg with the new stats vs a zerg with your typical soldiers/zerker mix zerg the new stat one will lose everytime because not enough dps will come. You will get pushed around because you wont deal dmg.

If you got a guard with this all they can do is give same amount of heals the other stat combo healer guards can do but those guys can still deal damage.

Aside from trolling the new stat set has no value in any content unless 1 or 2 people in a whole group use it but that defeats the purpose of alternative viable builds don’t you think?

what if reincarnation allowed you to add one utility skill from your previous level 80 character to the list of available skills for your new profession ? For example if I reincarnated my level 80 ranger to a level 1 mesmer I might choose to add Lightning Reflexes to the list of skills available to him as a mesmer.

Not arguing for reincarnation really, just find the idea somewhat interesting.

Well if that was to happen im sure everyone would be an invis killshot warrior.

If any Anet dev reads this thread. I just want you guys to see that people want to play your game and that its has A LOT of potential. The combat system is good( it could be great if there is no combat slow as that kind of favors some classes that can break combat while leaving a condi on target which leaves them stuck in combat and slowed). If you guys re do builds without listening to ‘’this is op nerf/buff it’’ threads and rather look at threads that give explanations and examples of why something needs a change will bring positive results. As for content there are a lot of things you guys can do. Gem store skins are a lazy band-aid on a cut off leg.

This game has potential to be something really big. Its fun when there is something to do so give us something to do besides farming day in and day out for rng. Give us personal progression. Give us hard to do things where we can show off our loot instead of going on tp and buying things that rng rewards random people. Also Gold->gem is pretty crazy. You guys should put a cap on that as it is a big casual/new player destroyer.

At the end of the day it’s your game Anet. Use this games potential to make massive content that everyone can enjoy. You have all the tools. Its just the matter of time and effort. There are people waiting and people will come back if there is content. Everyone is tired of the typical grind mmos that take months after months to get to the ’’fun’’ content. This game starts out fun then dies.

If you have 5k hours in this game, over the last two years, of course there’s not going to be anything to do. No developer in the world could ever make enough content for you.

Ever play WoW? Everyone takes a break for months until the new content comes out. Happens all the time.

I’d like to know where this mythical game is that has more content and keeps coming out with more content that can keep someone with 5000 hours happy.

My guess is only a sandbox MMO can do that, where content is continually created by playing it. Themepark MMOs will never support 5000 hours in two years.

WoW has lots of content and its fun in its way and it has a lot going for it thats why its such a big deal. GW2 has just been a fake hype. Anet doesn’t have forever to make things right.

Who knows maybe we will get major content in this month or the next. Or maybe nothing will happen and this game will still be the same thing since release which will cause the player base to leave.

Also The ‘’ I quit’’ threads that pop up from time to time happen because those people want to let anet know what was wrong. Sure some people just make those threads to announce their departure but over all you can see the damage that no major content has done to the player base. I remember seeing 4-5 ‘’i quit’’ threads withing one week before. Think of the people that quit without any heads up or reasons to what is making them leave.

He basicly means you reset your char to lvl 1 but it gets more base stats then before so at end game you are stronger. I dislike this because it takes the fun out of trying other classes. This system only favors games where your 1 single character can switch to different roles whenever.

Well its been here and most the people have done it and know how it was.

IF ANYONE HASN’T DONE THE NEW STUFF YET DON’T READ THIS THREAD AS THERE ARE SPOILERS.

Okay so the last time we got new content was march 18. That’s three months and a week or two ago. (I don’t count bazaar/gauntlet because that was repetitive content from last year)

In that time we have had nothing. The feature patch was fixes to broken things and the release of wardrobe which should have been released with the game.

I haven’t played since then but i have been checking back everyday if there was anything to do. I’ve been playing since the game came out so those that have been playing since then can have an understanding of how I feel.

So it’s been 3 months and a week or two and the Maguuma patch comes. This patch was the deal breaker or maker for some because lets face it a lot of people are tired of little to no content patches. Well this patch comes along and we get the start of season 2. Now I did this patch and I kitten ed it so I didn’t rush it but it lasted an hour and some minutes.

In the Maguuma patch we got:
-1/5th of a map
-some achievements within the map
-about an hours worth of story
-some new materials, more gem armor, rng skins from chests, and a new stat combo.

So in that 3 months and a weeks time we got that much content. 1/5th of a map was a huge let down. The achieves were expected with every update so thats good for those who care for them. The play time of this new season was not much to bring anyone back that had gotten tired of the game. New material is cool i guess. As for gem skins people are tired of those. RNG skins well we cant complain about that since RNG is pretty much a big factor of GW2 and it kills the fun of obtaining things. New stat combo is cool but It has no value.

Isn’t everyone tired of just doing damage? It sounds like a silly question but ever since the game came out all you need to do is damage and you have your own heal to keep you going. I think more builds will fit pve once they get rid of stacking by making their AI less stupid. There is no fun factor to most pve encounters because you end up stacking and swinging.

But back to the topic at hand since this isn’t a fix pve thread. After 3 months we got the same amount of content we used to get that a lot of people dislike. Most of my friends have quit the game because there is literally nothing to do unless you started playing a couple months ago.

I have 5k play time hours on this game and i have taken many breaks from it before because WE NEVER EVER GET A MAJOR CONTENT UPDATE. Ever since Halloween and xmas of 2012 we have had no high playtime required content.

Every patch since then has been meh. I see these ‘’i quit’’ threads and wonder if the devs are even looking and seeing how bad it is. More than 80% of my friend list is grayed out because they are bored and sick of this.

Unless you guys have some major content coming in this month or next. Im not sure what value there will be to this games playtime. Now im not saying there aren’t people who enjoy doing the same thing since release to this day and i don’t want to bash them for being simple minded but there is literally nothing to do if you have played for a while. I’ve taken my fair share of breaks from the game so when i come back i can play new content but when there is nothing coming out or anything major that came out you begin to question how much effort you are willing to put it to wait for something to come out.

As many have pointed out this game has lots of potential. I’ve seen it many times that this game could break all the others if the content is there. Im not calling the devs lazy but I think everyone just wants to play your game anet. People want content and they want to play. But if you guys keep giving us things like 1/5th a map after 3 months of nothing there wont be much to do in this game.

Unless there is major stuff coming out that will provide content to people that are fed up waiting week after week to get nothing I don’t know how much of a player base there will be. You can only milk a cow for so long before it gets old and dies.

I would love to see some major content coming out to this game and as like others i was waiting on a full map for season 2s opener. We players can only wait for major content to come out for so long.

TLDR: Drop that bomb of content everyone has been waiting on anet so people have something to come back to. Because people want to play gw2 but there is nothing to do at the moment.

Warrior is simple but you dont have luxuries other classes do. I mean we got plenty of stability and endure pain but basic things like that only take you so far. Warrior is easy to play but harder to master as some have said. There are boundaries you cant cross on warrior that can be crossed on other classes. As a warrior you are there and you either die, kill, or run. But if you mess up you don’t have many things to fall back on like other classes so it can be unforgiving when playing against higher skilled opponents. Against noobs well if you mess up it wont matter you will still kill them if you are decent just with any other class. Warrior is only good for dmg but you aren’t gona be doing serious dmg unless you use utilities to set up your heavy hitting things. But since the balance has changed most warriors now day run sissy builds that don’t have bursts and just involve sustain dps with high survivability that doesn’t need much looking into( idk why those ppl just make a guard already if they want to play like that).

Also while engi is the hardest class to master because of so many skill. Its also the easier to play since some builds let you spam same skill chain with lots of things to fall back on.

Combat doesn’t need redoing. They just need to rebalance and take the cheese that everyone crutches on out the game and go back to what they originally planned for this game. Which was every weapon type being viable and having a legit build. Wasn’t that what they wanted? A lot of weapons don’t see serious play even after so long since release.

They just need to stop listening to every little nerf cry and start looking at things from an experienced view. Im sure they have testers for this but they should get more ppl so they have a bigger number to look at instead of going to the forums and reading, ‘’ WARRIOR OP NERF SIG NERF GS NERF EVERYTING’’ Those type of threads have made more impact on this game than anything.

They need to put buffs where they’re needed and nerf the broken things that are easy to use and stray from the original main hype of the game. Which was skill based pvp. Skill is like 30% of the game and build is 70% (numbers are what i was feeling atm lel) But it is really like that. Most of the ppl you can meet in spvp/tpvp/wvw are using the same builds and cant really play other ones that require skill and thinking to do. Now im not saying all the ppl that use things like hambow are crowned noob on the spot but builds like that don’t promote skill based gameplay. They just promote broken combos and easy to play set ups that don’t really require effort.

TLDR: combat doesn’t need redoing. Builds just need a bigger test group to be implemented instead of looking at ‘’NERF DIS CUS OP’’ threads to do balance changes.

If you were slightly updated, you’d known that ArenaNet said that Living Story S2 will consist of Permanent content.

They have said that alot about S1. Look at it now.

There is plenty of end game content. I don’t know what you’re smoking.

After you hit 80 and got some gear these are the challenging end game things you got ahead of yah:
1. Afk auto range world bosses then come back and get your 2 greens 1 blue and omg rare.
2. Run repetitive dungeons for literally nothing.
3. Do world vs world and by that i mean every single day you run around in a circle playing ‘’whos got the most ppl wins’’
4. Stand in LA asking your self,‘’ what am i doing?’’
5. Stare at the tp for something.
6. run around maps killing things with no challenge to explore stuff you could have done at lvl 50.
7. Craft unneeded things for looks because you have nothing else to do.
8. Stand in the heart of the mists asking your self,‘’ what am i doing?’’
9. zerg down tequatl or the wurm for the 97th time.
10. Haven’t done a dungeon in an hour so that seems fresh.
11. afk some where and look for another game then not find anything because every game is doing pretty bad atm. After that tab back to gw2 and stare at the tp.
12. Do the channeling bug like infinite whirl!( this isnt in game anymore… apparently it was too game breaking and unbalanced and was fixed( that was sarcasm.. this thing was fixed before the major bugs we still have since release)
13. run around in circles thinking of something to do.
14. Make another character and lvl it to 80 for no reason at all.

See there are a lot of things to do. You just find them out within due time!

Edit: forgot to add but idk if this qualifies: Do living story stuff that you waited 2 weeks for in 10 minutes.

They will let you transmute one single time for free without using a charge. If you delete them then you will have to spend a charge to put that skin on a helm.

Everything in that list is full of reworks, bug fixes, minuscule changes to already things in the game that were horribly boring, rework to teq and addition of the wurm, fractals, useless map called southsun.

wvw bloodlust mechanic is barley given a thought about and achieving it is like doing every boring thing this games pvp offers which is anets fetish for standing on cap circles. Eotm.. just dont plz.

I wouldn’t call it balancing more like making non-skill related builds more easy to play for the new pvpers to crutch on. Since most of the changes so far have been made because of ‘’X class of I cry long time plz nerf anet’’ threads. Spvps new mode that features one laughable map. Who releases a game mode with a single map. If they wanted things to be tested why not make a test server to introduce new things on to see how people like them rather than showing us in the real game and if it sucks its ignored.

Gemstore is gemstore the money put in there doesn’t seem to be going towards improvement of the game since we have no real content that lasts more than 3-4 hours tops.

Map look changes don’t add anything significant to the game content wise so I don’t know why you bothered to list those.

Most of the things you listed have no real relevance to content that we can play. Its just add ons to UI. The only content you listed includes fractals, boss revamp(#zergallday#swag#yolo#anetfanboi), southsun. The only thing that gave content and i mean REAL content was fractals and those can be highly expanded on but anet hasn’t given a rats kitten about them for a long time now. Southsun has no meaning other than zergin karka queen then leaving map. Boss revamps didn’t do much as the boss fights are zerg fests and only require ppl to zerg to certain areas at certain times to work(teq, wurm).

They need content. Permanent content. They need solo player stuff that requires you the player to use your brain and not run with a hundred other lazy people that just run in a zerg pressing 1 and F. Until then this game has nothing but a couple hours of temporary content that comes in once every 2 weeks. Which of those 2 weeks the content can be done within a day.

What happened ? I just don’t find any real reason to play

Pve has gotten southsun the map no one really cares to go to and that is pretty much it for new areas added to the pve world map. Fractals lost support so long ago and the skins are bore grind of repetitiveness.

If this game wants to get anywhere and have more people playing it then they have to release PERMANENT ACTUAL CONTENT or its not going anywhere. When that happens im sure a lot of old players and new players will visit the game. till then enjoy your repetitive fest.

Bolded part is the problem with permanent content…its great and all, while it’s fresh after that it becomes boring and people stop playing it.
Whether the content is permanent or not, once it loses it’s new sheen, people stop playing it.

frequent updates of temporary content help with that, to me. because the content doesnt stick around long enough for the playerbase to get bored with.

What i was trying to say is the things that are permanent are ignored. The only reason people ever went to southsun was during the event that came with it. It is basically remnants of an event. There is no functionality to southsun since then. There is no reason to go there.(besides the orinode that used to be there and karka queen once in a while now) It is basically nothing that added anything to the game in the term of permanent content.

The temporary content this game has introduced was easily completed within an hour or a couple hours and then you couldn’t do anything with it. With permanent content least you can go back to it and check stuff out or explore the other things that can be introduced later on.

What happened ? I just don’t find any real reason to play

Oh and they need to stop listening to every little thing people cry about balance on the forums for certain builds. This game is full of no skill cheese builds now because of that weakness of anets balance team.

So just because you don’t like it it doesn’t count? You claimed that there were no new content, which is clearly completely false. They have also added new mob-types, new crafting materials, new armors, new weapons, new crafting tier. Several new systems and so on. The list is rather long.

And all the temporary content from the Living Story is still content, even if it is not available at this time. It still took time and resources to create. That means new content basically twice a month for most of the games life.

Grinding would be repeating the same thing over and over and over and over again. I don’t really see that in GW2. Sure you CAN do it that way, but in order to progress, you don’t HAVE to do it that way. Thus no mandatory grind.
The fact that people seem to love to force grind upon themselves isn’t really the games fault though.

If you need an incentive (beyond liking the game) to play, then maybe you don’t actually like the game? I still play those old RTS-games from the 90s and none of those have really changed at all since then, and yet I still find them fun to play, even though I have done the same thing over and over and over and over and over again.

They have added NOTHING to play for. These minor things that should have been in the game when it came out were being given to us so long after release. There is no incentive to play after you play and do everything the game offers which is around 1k-1.5k hours. Everything new that got added introduced a grind to the game. There is no end game after you fight all the world bosses and do every dungeon. After that its all repetitive.

All the living story stuff that has been introduced since release was easily able to be done withing 1-5 hours. Some of it was the same thing but in a different place of the map and different npcs. Every new map they added for pvp/wvw isnt used for them. Everyone hates skyhammer and barley anyone plays spirit watch and the new deathmatch map is just there for randomness. Deathmatch isnt even implemented into the game and who releases a new mode with one single map?!?!?! As for edge its just for karma farming as it does nothing for wvw. Its all zergs there and nothing more. Regular wvw is still the same since release and tpvp is the same since release.

This list you speak of is just full of minor things the game was supposed to come with during release. Other games that have had less hype have made more content in the past 2 years than this game. Ive spent about $100+ in gems to support but It didn’t even get used for this game most likely.
