why just give them another version of the GS?

Im thinking why just give them an axe why not a 2h axe that the axe head is connected to the polearm by a chain.

The whole skill set of this thing could be it doing more dmg to crippled/immobilized foes. It could finely feature a pull skill for warrior and it should be single target for balance sake. The f1 could do an aoe attack that does 25% more dmg to crippled/immobilized foes and 25% more dmg if their hp is under 50%.

Don’t just give warriors another boring GS variant. Give them a fun weapon to use.

But why should gap closers and escape mechanisms not be rolled into one?

Because it allows professions not meant to escape to do so, or professions not meant to close gaps to overwrite that weakness.
Dark Path is a good example of a “gap closer” -it doesn’t work without a target, and has associated damage and effects, so its a fairly bad escape in most situations (critters aside), and is best used for offense.
Blink is good examples of an escape mechanism, as all it does is let you move around and avoid damage without hampering your foe, so it has no direct offensive applications.

According to you. I don’t remember seeing anywhere that anet has said gap closers shouldn’t be used for escape.

And don’t bother bringing up Elementalists. Anet never said why they chose to nerf rtl (as far as I know anyways) so any reasons as to why that happened is just speculation at best.

If a gap closer can be used to further remove risk vs reward choices made IN combat then thats terrible design.

If you use a gap closer in combat to get closer to another target instead of the one beating your kitten to avoid damage, thats a risk vs reward choice and is smart design.

How come this is so difficult to understand? Are you guys really wanting all counter play and risk vs reward removed from this game?

Removed? I’m confused. I’m guessing we’re mostly talking about warriors here and warriors mobility hasn’t changed since the head start weekend.

Though I could mistaken and you have something else in mind. That’s beside the point, what exactly is being removed when arguing for nothing to change vs nerfing skills?

LOL. If a warrior jumps into a fight knowing that at any moment he can swap to GS for burst then hit the 3/5 combo and yolo out of there…thats not risk vs reward. Theres hardly any risk and great reward. So thats what I’m talking about. Its this kind of thing that needs to be fixed, not the actual ability.

For instance, that scenario I just described. If the warrior had to use 5 towards another target he’d have to find one outside the fight, or a target on the other side of the fight away from the incoming damage. Do you see how much more interesting that gameplay is? Not only for the warrior, but the other people in the fight? It requires situational awareness =P

Im glad you arnt against thieves because its not like they come in to burst then gtfo. Totaly a war thing. I mean ive never seen a mesmer come in for a burst then invis/blink outta there like no ones business. Or an ele going in for burst rotation then FGS out of there. Oh btw these people are probably all berserkers and can be killed within a second or two and before they even get to their targets might i add.

What you are trying to do is not put in the effort to go after someone because you just want people to line up and be fed to you am I right? If someone runs then let em run because when they come back you already know what they will do so you will have a free kill. But instead here we are on the forums.

If you gap close at someone, you’re still closing the gap even if the damage doesn’t land. I’d rather have Warrior GS 5 hardly hit me but still close the gap with me, instead of the warrior using it to escape from a fight all the time.

Yes you would like that but now look at it from the warrior prospective. We would actually like our skills to hit and do what they were meant to do. We would not like our skill to run to you then hold us in place or make us run a wierd buggy circle around you then hit the air way away from your direction.

Sry, I’m a Guardian. I’m so used to things not hitting I just assume everyone elses attacks don’t hit like they are supposed to either. Sword auto attack number 3, Sword 3, Scepter 1, Scepter 2, Scepter 3, Hammer 2 on elevation change, GS 5 on targets at max range, Staff 2 getting stuck in the ground and getting bugged so you can’t use it, Focus 4 not hitting for a TON of reasons, and Shield 5 not blocking projectiles.

But yea, Rush…gotta fix that, hehehe

Earthshaker completly missing on minimal elivation, HB self intterupt, rush missing most of the time, Flurry self cancel makes you stand there like a kitten and not be able to do anything, bulls charge leaving you infront of target or shooting through or just not doing anything and takes you to target to be a free kill, Bolas i dont think i need to say much for bolas, GS 3 missing some hits for no good reason, Blade trail isnt a normal projectile and can get bugged very easily as it hovers, evi sometimes dosent leap all the way and stops the skill way too early and other times it goes way over the said range, Signet of rage slowing movment speed when used sometime for no real reason(slower then walking), Sword 2 makes you do some random circle when landing by someone at a tiny elevation, Rifle butt missing most the time even when you are looking straight at the person, Stomp going on full CD if accidentally interrupted, gs 3 sometimes if you use it while in another skill and you use it to the right it goes to the left, mobile strikes not so mobile, shield bash completely missing if target moves closely to your left or right. Those are the ones I can think of atm.

You don’t know the plague warriors have with bugged skills that never seen the light of day since release.

Hi there forum guise. Wanted to put this on here if it isn’t here already.

Axe off hand is rarely used and I always see people laugh at someone using it.

I think the 2 off hand skills could be buffed for it to see more play.

Dual Strike
CD:12(9 1/2 when traited)
x2 fury for 2 seconds

Could add in 2 stacks of vuln along with the fury or increase fury to 4 seconds x2 and buff base dmg a bit.

Whirling axe
CD:20(16 when traited)
15 hits with a radius of 130 and a whirl finisher.

Make it reflect projectiles or make it do vuln every other hit within the 15 hits.

Note: the thief stolen version of this skill is better then this thing it self.

When the game came out
Also they said that they should have bad condition removal skills, so they depend on others for this. That is why they gave them the top, unparalleled stats, 18k health PLUS heavy armor.

A class that needs to depend on others to work dosent belong in this game. The MAIN thing anet wanted gw2 to have was every class having enough utlity to keep them selves alive and rest of the things to BENEFIT the team not make weaker classes crutch on others to be viable.

Now, they can run faster than anyone

Wars could do this before.

I will not say if they did good or not. I say that now, that they have anything to use
MAKE THEM 15K BASE HEALTH.
This game dosent need more 15k base health bs classes.

This way if they want to bunker, they will have to use the proper skills and traits.
If they want to go YOLO doing 20k critical with rifle, it should be possible to be oneshoted themselves the same way too. (this is an example, I do not claim that zerker rifle warriors are OP. The opposite, they do not know when you use a reflect skill and are easy and fun kills this way)

You can one shot a ‘’YOLO 20k crit’’ rifle war very easily.

What class do you play by the way.

In all seriousness why do you purpose this change? Sure it is a huge exploit but what motivated you to put this on here.

The only way you can ’’fix’’ this without makin the skill useless is make it require target to be used. So you can just run into a wall and fart fire in place that pwns things.

I think ANet takes everything too seriously. Dueling isn’t something we need an arena / special place for, or rewards or “some new system mechanics we are working on but can’t say more about that now”.

It’s playing out there in the world, meeting somebody, “Hey nice to meet you, want to do duels”, you right click on him / her, Request Duel, she/he accepts/declines it. You both bow to each other (would be a nice addition before the fight starts) while there is a countdown timer from 3, then the duel begins. One will keep standing, the other isn’t. Another nice addition would be to not “kill” your opponent, just simply win when he would get downed and help her / him up.

THAT.
SIMPLE.
Takes a day to add it to the game.

You’ve never even taken a programming class I’m willing to wager. Tell me… what happens when you and another guy are dueling and I decide to cast a chaos storm on the top of you two?

you arnt in the duel as it isnt with you. The other 2 players are able to fight without some dummys being dumb. They can add this pretty fast. As he/she said. Hit player then dual then dual starts and ends after first person goes down. No one else can come in between and you cant hit anyone else but the person you are dueling.

They have dueling in old mmos. The only reason they dont let you open world duel in pve because they want ppl to suffer the boring baby arena spvp is. Half the stats with those tiny maps.

Funny thing how every1 here are disappointed in Gw2 but are still here commenting and playing the game.I got disappointed in WOW 6 years ago and since then i never log in,never went on blizzard forums and never even watched any of WOW videos on youtube except some expansion patch trailers.

its because we care and want the game to improve instead of just giving up on it. If there were more ppl like you around here then there wouldnt be a player base left.

The game is in a stale moment. There has been nothing major since release. The first dragon we got was a bore fest of a fight. There seems to be no point after playing this game for 3k hours. Because you can pretty much experience everything in this game withing first 2k hours then repeat for the last 1k to keep some value.

There is no point in wvw.
Dungeons only give gold and the skins are there but skins skins skins is the only thing this game is played for.
Spvp is stale
Tpvp is cool but getting stale since only one game mode and only the fotm/cheese is run.
pve is pretty much gone after you get 100% world complete and explore all the jps.
End game is gone after you explore all the world and repeat the world bosses enough times.

Thats pretty much it, it seems. The incentive to play is small but things like rng/un balanced classes/repetitive gameplay/ no major updates are holding this game back. Other wise this game has great potential since the combat is very fun.

What i would suggest is that there should be less rng and NO DR. Making a legendary should be something you achieve not something you get from sheer luck or doing repetitive things.

World bosses need to have an incentive. They could drop skins and stuff like tequatl(rng needs to be lowered in this since those skins cant be traded. It’s just personal character progression). The world boss things should feel different everytime to keep you coming back to it.

Dungeons are all repetitive. While the AC update was great because it added the new way to do p2 which is good. I think each path should have variants to it so you dont end up in a boredom roll(fractals for example is great since its random instances)

open world pve needs to be better. No one vists most the maps in pve unless for karma vendor usage in orr. The maps need an incentive to bring players to. Like certian things that happen on those maps. Atm queensdale and frostgorge see lots of players due to champ farms(now i dont want more champ farms) but they should include incentives to those maps.

WvW needs to have incentives aswell. Atm its just a server pride fest of meaning less zerging. You do circles and circles around the map capping and defending from zerg after zerg. There should be special events like players being able to control a war beast and go attack something while the other server defends to make for epic battles. Atm its just stack might stack stack stack! Make wvw impact pve and dungeons for the servers to bring players to wvw more.

Also fixing the bugs that have been in the game since release should get looked at too. There is no reason for the obvious bugs to still plague the game.

Add the fun back to gw2 anet. Stop with the repetitive LS every 2 weeks.

It’s been over a year and a couple months. WHEN WILL WE SEE ACTUAL SKILL BUG FIXES?

You guys fixed the infinite channel kill bug in such a hurry like it was game breaking, but cant seem to fix things like rush and other various line gap closers. Not to mention the self interrupt channel skills that just stop and go on a mini cd like you canceled them. Or the random immobilize bug where you are just herpa kitten in and get frozen in an animation that looks like the same one when you would be immobilized.

When will these get addressed? It’s been too kitten long, because its’s really sad to see these are still a major pain in the game this far down the game’s release.

Are we ever going to see trait templates?

they arnt here to make things easy for us most the time. Money is the real deal. Why do you think they introduced the instant trait reset? Instead of just giving us 5 set templates to put 5 builds on for each char to pick through. Only money matters man so dont expect too much. Only the rich ppl(in game) can afford to stack up trait resets its not for the poor.

You ask for somthing that was in gw1 you will get a black lion version of it in a weaker form.

Lol..are you playing this game through internet pages and outdated/wrong/misleading wiki skill descriptions (hint=its 4 instances of burn during 3 sec which means the damage is over 12 sec )?
Anyway im pretty sure that if you could hold against 3 people with your condi ele build i could hold against 6 same people with my full glass ele (hint = you are bad and play against bads )
But it is kinda true that it seems unfair how little condi builds need to invest in offence to be able to kill things efficiently compared to power.And the time needed to kill isnt anywhere near long enough for condies to actually resemble dots.. at least with how many they are and how easily they stack.
But htats how the games been balanced from the start so..tough luck

switch to water theres the first heal. Hit 5 2nd heal. Hit 2 thats 3rd heal now dodge for 4th heal. You will be at full hp and have removed 3 condis. Switch to earth churn then flash to em hit 3 switch to fire drake breath ring then back to earth rinse and repeat. If they dodge just keep repeating. Condi builds require no brain usage except for the rotation. Find rotation and repeat till target dyes.
You dont even have to pop your heal most the time but if you do most condi eles ether renewal. And you can easily go to air hit 3 and pop heal for a safe heal.

your responses made me laugh a lot. Warrior fan of fire every 6 seconds that burns for a nice amount. Pin down is long. Then we have f1. 5 stacks of torment every 15 seconds. If you throw in perplex and make it the auto kill build then yeh. Its pretty op lel. You have about 3k-3.2k armor with 20k-22k hp depindin on if any dire gear thrown in. You can do a repetitve cycle then start immbolize fan fire/f1/pin/arc arrow for might/switch impale then run around pew pewin. Its stupid. While yo do all of this and your target is removing all those and what do you have to do? Just go to LB and start the whole thing over because everything will be getting off of CD. I have a condi war set and i do not have to put a single ounce of effort to kill people in 1v1ns.

My hp stays high due to my shout regens if i go for those/heal sig and my 3.2k armor keeps me up and at em. with 2 sources of immobilize. Many sources of bleed, 2 sources of burn, 1 source of torment that wil still leave torment until the skill it self is off cd for reuse.

Engi can apply 3 condi at once on pistol auto if traited i think to mask thier burns. Poison/burn/confusion. Necro has to auto atk if dhuumfire is there then throw in sig and continue auto attackin to GG. Because you can easily down ppl with just auto atk after sig of spite. Rangers evade for days and heal while throwin constant poision/burns/bleeds while being able to regen and rely on easy 3k armor.

A lot of condi build.. well every condi build will have near 3k armor or more unless you go full rampagers but idk if anyone does full rampagers.

P/d thief have to put no real effort in as all they have to do is auto atk 5/1/3/5/1/3
No effort just kite and repeat and if anything does happy pop teh easy heals.

I dont know why you are protecting condis but its silly. btw hambow and medi sustain guards have notin to do with condi meta. Thier healin is way lower then condi traited folks. Hambow might be a lil it since its warrior but yeh.

I was trying out condi ele and was holding off 3 ppl and even downed 2 of em on point several times. Done the same on war since condi set ups usualy just require you to bore your self doing circles around people waiting on condis to kill em while you keep the heals going and throwin condis out like no tomorrow.

Power builds have no where near the same sustain as of condi builds. Condi builds require you to set up for less stats since one stat which is cond dmg stat is all you need. Rest is just bonuses like healing power/armor. You dont even need crit chance. Where as in power builds you need an ok amount of armor/hp then you need crit dmg/crit chance and power. Thats 5 stats. Condi classes can live on 3 and out do power.

You’re talking about yourself, right? Clearly, you have no idea about the game, and even less about playing a Thief.

And no, I don’t main Thief. And yes, I’ve got my kitten handed to me by Thieves before. I also manage to kill them from time to time. And believe me when I say that I’ve never seen one using Shortbow 3. That skill is mainly useful to kite NPC’s which you don’t want to melee. No sane person would use it in a 1vs1 or 1vsX; especially not multiple times in a row.

k… gonna lay out some ground rules here guys…
If you have a SB and:
Evade once, you’re fine, you’re just using SB…
Evade twice, people will start to be suspicious of you…
God forbid you evade three times, you’re perma evading….
Anything more then three times you’re surely using the perma evade spec…

Lmao xD.

im not saying thieves are hard to kill or anything. But when all else fails they start the evade spam.

And no im not talking about me. I probably have less forum time since release then you do in a week. I actuly like to play the game instead of coming on forums and reading this stuff. I only post when abusive cheese is being run and no one speaks a word of it.

death blossom is about 1.25 seconds from time you click to the time you can do another. and it only evades for .25 seconds. so as far as an evade…its prolly the worst thief has. i NEVER usethis as an evade. i actually pretend its not there. it cant be used strategically as an evade. its more like a bonus that u might sjust miss an incoming attack by pure chance.

So anet dosent want certian classes to be tanky and deal dmg, but now any class that specs for condi can tank AND deal dmg. Sure you can pack lots of condi removal but condis can be easily rethrown and since you are a tank it is very easy to throw condis and kite. Which is why the condi kite meta is so strong right now. Does anyone see a way to balance condis? Because a necros sig of spite with some auto atks is GG most the time. Or an eles condi burst while being able to heal like no tomorrow. Or the warrior which we all know already and then we haz the thief and engi.

What if healing is reduced in condi builds while keeping vit/toughness? Because there is lots of healing thrown in condi builds. All of the classes that spec for condi have massive heal gens.

Where as power builds dont have that kind of healing as you would go for tanky ness with power and not have room for healing. The amount of healing on condi builds can get pretty ridiculous.

What are your guys thoughts on healing condi tanks balance state?

i gotta say. bow does many things bot nothign really well.

900 range. pffft
cluster bomb. decent dmg …. but SLOOOOOOW
poison gass 4s of poison…. eh nice and usefull but nothing wow
trick shot. slow cast slow aftercast. slow flight. not heat seeking. low dmg/no effects
Infil arrow- used only as a get away ….even tho HS is much better.
disabling shot- cripple for a few secs + evade. the one shining thing about this weapon.

disabling shot is what really makes the short bow work. u will never see a thief use shortbow to kill somebody. it just doesnt happen. its usually brought out bc we are weak against bosses and zergs so we spread poison and bleeds.

doesnt deserve a nerf bc we can evade 4x in a row.

warriors get invuln , blocks and feel no pain etc….. i dont see the difference when we have to spam all our initiative for the same effect.

to keep you guys in check. imagine if warrior had to use 6 weapon attacks like 2 3 4 5 on weapon set 1 and skill 2 on weaponset 2 all for 3.5 seconds of evade/invuln.

would that be OP? no of course not. but people dont think like that. oh well. simple simple simple.

You can perma evade if you spec for it just like you can outheal and out live on warrior IF YOU SPEC FOR IT. A zerker war or a hybird wont live long even if they do pop endure pain and stuff. Where as a thief can blind on stealth by simply putting 10 points into shadowarts and still do massive back stabs AND be able to chain evade with SB/dodges.

Everytime something sensible on the forums is posted its shot down by forum warriors. Do you people even play the game? When cry babies make post after post on one thing and it gets nerfed and no one says anything to them. Well i guess there is no point in using the game forums as they dont seem to be working as intended.

General:
Lyssa cooldown increased from 45 to 60sec (this is somewhat a nerf but also for other classes like thief, with this nerf many warrior dont have to get signet master trait and get something else..)

HS from 400 to 350hps, increase active to 4800

When activating endure pain or berserker stance your healing is decreased for 33% during the stance.

Sword: increase raw damage for AA chain on last hit for like 20% (last hit also doesnt add bleeding) and flurry for 15% more raw damage
So sword is more viable in power builds.
Impale: decrease amount of tormet stacks from 5 to 3 or maby 4, its way to good now
Riposte: increase cooldown from 15 to 20 (15 sec CD for range blocking + can be reflect.. and also can do 4x bleeding.. on 15sec is just silly.. )

Axe: remove the extra damage from last hit and increase damage from last 3 hits for 25% (spread the damage)
Dual strike: increase fury duration from 3sec to 8sec

Longbow: increase casttime for pin down from 1/4 to 1/2
BUT! if they do this they should also decrease casttime of dual shot.. and i would be happy with it

Hammer: OK

GS: increase AA damage and do something about rush make it a kitten leap and decrease its distance to 900 or something..

Rifle: make rifle butt hit better.. it miss allot

Mace: incease vuln stacks from 4 to 8 on crushing blow

Warhorn: Call to arms, add another boon like fury or something.. just 1 vigor and 6sec weakness without any damage on 20sec cooldown issnt that good for a weapon skill.

Thick skin trait: make it + 150 armor above 75% health, 100 above 90% is just 1 hit and only 3% less damage.

So in total: we get some better weapon skills (mostly for power builds)
Slighty less damage for condi builds, but they are already very very good..
Small decrease in healing (you wont see much diffference, but stops the QQ about it i hope :-P ), also there is a more counter when using 2 of the stances because you get 33% less health.. its not gamebreaking, but i think this adds some counter to it.
Just like frenzy..

i agree with everything but GS/lb suggestions. If you make the pin slower then in power builds the immobilze would suffer. It dosent need a nerf. As for GS why nerf rush? It already misses 90% the time.

Also make axe off hand viable mang. Axe 5 reflects and axe 4 fury like the way you said and make it do more dmg.

Watch out, next body shot is going to be nerfed because it has too many effects. After that backstab is going to turn into heal stab and you heal the enemy for striking their back. Maybe we should just get a pointy stick and stay in SoAB because people can’t seem to live with thief anymore unless it turns into easy mode for a 3yr old.

isnt it already easy mode for a 3 year old. I havent played my thief in months and was easily killing people with an outdated build. It dosent take much to kill as a thief just 5 and 1 and here and there a heal and a basilisk venom.

its not hard to regen init if you spec for it. These days you can spec for init gain like nothing. Its a piece of cake to keep chaining evade on sb. Idk what thieves you guys are playing but a evade skill on a thiefs weapon slot is op.

Only if immob stacking gets removed, then I’m okay with an increased aftercast time. It’s amazing when people complain about shortbow 3, but don’t complain about people using 3 second duration (about 2 disabling shots for a teef = 8 initiative) blocks to prevent spikes while immobed.

Immob didnt need to stack any how idk which person thought immob needed a buff. Who the hell is doing these balance patches.

No i did not lose to it. Its just a stupid thing to have. Every thief that fails hard with his/her back stab whips this out and goes 3333333. Its dumb and can be easily spammed. If you spec for a high init build this thing is stupid.

Remove the dodge and just leave it for the cripple.

why not a medium to high ranged heavy magic user? Javelins/spears/2h weapons/ sceptors/focus/staffs/bows. It could work. Medium hp mostly for dps.

Must of not been roaming much…. I pretty much only roam yes we have gotten a pretty big zerg sometimes but have to stand grand with kain someway….

I roam every night for least 3-4 hours. Barley see any roamers.

wait what. When did they call this a skill based game? I mean necros insta downing ppl with condi spam or fear fow dayz and engis auto attacking to put 3 dif condis at once then just sitting there laughing while you try to clense while warriors stun you and guards heal and run laps. Or is it when thieves stealth and blind then hit you for most your hp? Or maybe even the mesmer chain tele/stealth with condis to throw at the same time dpsing you down.

Its ok Eles and rangers. Eles wil be back one day and as for rangers… one day rangers one day.
