I am a riffle lover myself and can’t really get myself to use hammer on pve.
That said, scrapper traitline, IMO, is way too much linked with hammer its stuns (#5-#3 combo) and function gyro is very useless on most pve scenarios.
For overland pve and dungeons I run something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFAUlUUh+uYfWwkLQ7FL5F13+9fB44HmElIYCGAVFA-TxBBABB8AAwa/R5Re6AqU9nzUCCwFAoMlYBAOAO/8Aw5nf+5nfeTf+5rv+5FCY0CA-e
It gives you a lot of speed to run around the map (riffle jump+rocket boots+supper speed+swiftness) and get 100% crit chance (70% from gear, 10% from close range, 20% from fury). I use bombs autoattack when I can melee, and with the blind fields from mortar and smoke bomb, you can melee a lot. Also, bombs are PBAoE, so its great to clear trash. You also get a lot of breakbar potential with BoB, overcharged shot, healing turret detonation, magnet and all the soft CC (glue bomb, net shot, blinds and chills).
If you get a good rotation you can include a good amount of might stacking with all the blast finishers (turret, OS x2, BoB, RB) but you need 2 fire bombs to get them all to trigger (AFAIK). Kinetic battery is great as you can get 2 BoB or 2 OS on a row, and they do a LOT of dmg, or you can use healing mist twice for extra healing with blasts. For WvW scrapper is great for the added defense. Someone posted a riffle scraper build around.
Figured, I definitely noticed other traitlines and the benefits of Scrapper not helping anything but the Hammer much, that’s good to know though! Thanks for the build template for Rifle
I probably will never be able to stack a lot of might or the other things as I find it all confusing but maybe now and then I’ll try to figure it out a bit, thanks again!
So thinking of a class to return and re-try, Necro is my other option, but I have questions about Engi
Now to sum it up, Engineer was my very first character created, meaning? TOTAL NOOB.
And if any of you know Engi… it didn’t go well once I hit lv 80.
Now that I’ve went through a couple of other characters and have actual knowledge of the game, I made a new Engi to re-try now with my “skillz”.
Main question;
Effective Scrapper Rifle builds? I love the Rifle more than the other weapons and would fully enjoy having a Rifle focused build, for at least PvE and WvW modes if possible of course. (Kits work yes as long as I have Rifle as my weapon, I’ll be happy), I’ll probably do Condi in PvP like I did before Scrapper as it’s still effective it seems (and even a Meta, cool).
Celestial still flat out amazing for Engi/Scrapper? I have full Celestial amulet, rings, and accessories that I’ll use no matter my build but I remember full Cele was the kitten way back when! orrrr what
cc isn’t stronger versus engis all of a sudden.
I know, it’s always been their weakness, along with the condi clear thing for immob. I was getting the genius title when entangle was still meta and man was that annoying, especially when elixir gun wasn’t meta. Only way out was a movement skill or using heal.
Entangle is replaced with ancient seeds now which might be even more annoying.
It’s easy to lock up an engi once the first CC lands. Nothing makes them easy to kill, but necros and engis are very weak to CC.
What’s Ancient seeds?
actually, what fluffball said is quite wrong to be honest here. Obviously interrupts are nice, but they are not what will help you kill an engi. what does help however, is retaliation. Luckily for druids, they can pressure twice as hard with retal because pet and person count separate. So get the retal into your rotation (CA2->CA3 or CA2->Staff3 and WHaO immediately after) and then just consistently pressure, it is up to you whether youz want to tank acid bomb damage for more retal damage or not.
As for dragonhunters, a druid should never die to them. against a menders dh you will lose the cap and not kill him ever, so its better to hold the cap as long as possible and then bounce (or call for help to kill). But i dont really know what youre doing or the situations your in, so cannot comment more
But then again I don’t have staff, I use LB/GS or LB/SW+D, and a power build not a bunker like the meta

Fair enough, I usually just fight until someone dies rather than break off and run when it goes nowhere
More than likely when you get the engi low, his elixir S pops, and he LoS kites until he’s 100% health again. The fight will go on forever. But if you do win, it’s going to be through CC and interrupts.
Oh yea for sure the fights def last several minutes usually until another teammate or enemy comes to help
Engi’s are notoriously weak to CC, and luckily druids have more CC than any other profession. You might struggle to get enough damage off if the engi is full health though. Try to catch them right as their about to heal. It’s not a matchup that is supposed to end quickly though.
Druids hard counter DHs. Don’t fight in their traps and watch for pulls and teleports. Do that and you win. Fight off point, get the quick kill, take point.
Okay that makes sense for Engi, I usually panic when seeing one so never thought about it,
And okay so snipe DHs carefully? Gotcha, will try
So I love to PvP and WvW, and I love my Ranger
However a class that is pretty common in most matches is Guardian
What are ways to counter a Guardian/Dragonhunter? I can survive awhile and get them close to down a couple of times but inevitably I end up dying.
Another one s Scrapper but nothing to do for them, way too many reflects and CC, I cry seeing one
Hello, the title says it all. I used to pvp as a short bow condi ranger way back when and then i left to go back to Wow. Well now I want to return to the game and was given a free max level booster and now I am trying to decide if its worth it to boost a ranger. I mainly like to pvp and i like the idea of conditions and boons. I hear that druids are now a very popular thing(that is the thing with the spirits right). My playstyle is alot of dodging and run and gunning. Any opinions and information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Your “playstyle” sounds a bit like thief, check them out for a ton of dodging (their elite spec Daredevil gives then 3 dodges instead of 2 with many way enhance your dodging)
On a side note, I used my lv 80 booster on my Ranger and I don’t regret it, it has became one of my favourite classes. I use LB/GS power built though. For Condi Axe with Torch is the big one. Definitely try a little bit of all classes before deciding on the booster to make sure you are comfortable with the decision. All the Elite specs are more popular because they enhance the classes very nicely, not just Druid, but all of them
I’d suggest leveling the character up to at least lv 20 before boosting so you get a feel for the class to belp with the decision.
Warrior also fits the “run and gun” description as it’s elite spec, Beserker, can use a very strong Rifle able to nearly if not do one shot people if built right.
Metabattle should have what you are looking for. Dire might be decent enough in WvW. Power builds and MM builds are flexible enough for nearly all PvE so get a set of Berserker, Valkyrie, or a mix. Condi for raids, high fractals, and PvP. Raids use mostly Viper’s.
It sounds like you have been away a while so take your time trying different builds and learning about the most recent changes. Metabattle has enough variety to get you going. You can modify builds to suit your needs once you are re-familiarized with the profession.
Yea I can’t make Viper’s atm though, I don’t have any crafting professions leveled haha, def been away from Reaper since HoT release basically so yea.
Thanks.
Which game mode?
Sounds like PvE to me.
I do a lot of all three, sorry
So I’m gonna try playing Necro again after months of not touching it, I come in and whoah. My gear is full carrion, not bad but, no set of Runes, carrion staff and switch, both have no sigils, and my backpack and trinkets is Tough,Vit, Condi, everything Exotic
So before I start trying to fix up my Reaper, I do remember having an awful time trying to make a power build and my condis not even being up to par so really I need tips on
both
Condi build
Power build
For Condi I seem to have been using Staff with a Scepter/X switch, seems good still I guess
And for Power I assume GS with a Axe/X switch would be good?
My main concern is stat sets
Friends told me Dire is better than Carrion until I can craft something like Trailblazer’s so okay good I guess but
What’s good for Power? From hearing about other builds I was thinking a mix of Zerk and Cavalier (3 piece zerk, 3 piece cava, weapons probably zerk too) with Wurm runes, until I can craft like Marauder’s
And for both will probably just use my Celestial ascended Accessories, Rings, and Amulet I own.
TL;DR Any help is appreciated.
I use condi Druid in sPvP and pve. I do great with it. There are some builds on metabattle.com that willl give you a good starting template and just make whatever tweaks you want to fit your play style. I personally love the axe/torch short bow combo. With the CD reduction trait you can put down some serious conditions. Druid is mainly used for the massive condi clear and team support while on points. Good luck.
Oki thanks!
Talking by my own experience: condi druid can work well in Spvp but you gotta know what you are doing, otherwise you are going to get destroyed.
In WvW it work really well, talking from roaming perspective, not zerging since i don’t do much of those. For roaming i’d drop the shortbow for sword and dagger, though.
Carrion equips may work, but are not optimal for sure.
Well Carrion because I don’t have any crafting up to make something better like Viper’s
Ah, yeah I figured so, tried taking a condi build into PvP earlier with no experience of PvP with it and yeah, I didn’t do so good, well thanks I’ll def give it more tries then!
So I’ve been playing Zerk Druid (LB + Sword/Axe) for a good little while and wanna try out a Condi build, will buy full Carrion, Axe/Torch, and probably a shortbow or just keep staff for running around and use Axe/Torch as main weapons
Basically wanna know if Condi Druid is good for PvP/WvW too
Do you want to save the gold to buy your precursor, or do you want to do the crafting journey?
If the crafting journey will save me from having to save up like 1,000+ gold then yes please
Start with the mystic Clover, in that way you can get more T6 materials for the Gift of Magic/Might
I think I’m just about to get one from the Gift of Battle reward track
So I have never put a lot of effort into my characters, nothing ascended or anything, but decided to put more effort into my Ranger, loving the profession
And basically, I want the Bolt, Legendary Sword, but have no idea how to start on it, all I know is I need map completion, a ton of gold that I don’t currently have, and like 500 metalwork or whatever Sword is in
I’m looking for general tips about all 3 areas, PvE, PvP, WvW
I’m a bit mixed up on traits and good weapons and all, I’m level 48 so far and I’m loving Longbow/Greatsword if there’s any tips to build around that combo greatly appreciated!
Definitely gonna spec into Druid when I hit 80 but for now I’m a normal Ranger but I am loving this class so far!I recommend taking marksmanship and beast master. The Remorseless trait combos well with the GS master lvl trait.
Thanks will check it out
Hey,
I made a post of all my builds a while back.
here .
Hope you enjoy ranger.
Cool thanks, druid longbow/GS PvP build there looks nice

I’ve been back into RuneScape the past couple months and Gw2 has collected dust, upon returning I’m planning on making a Ranger, a class I’ve never played or learned, so any tips, anything new the past couple months, etc.?

What game mode you want to play (PvP,PvE,WvW)? In WvW Rifle (with the proper build) can be really strong , your survivability depends on the build you use and how well you use it.
I play all three
So my Engi was my first character I made and it’s been awhile since I played it but I enjoyed him a bunch and wanna get back into the swing of things, I pretty much know nothing about how to build him or combos anymore, any tips to help get into the swing of things? (Is Rifle still great even though hammer is there? I like rifles)
How is the survivability?

Oh and also Guild Wars 2 seems to primarily get it’s performance from your processor rather than your graphics card, my upgrade gave me 0 fps gain in Guild Wars 2, sadly.
Hey! I upgraded from the 670 to the 980 TI this Christmas, it is true that they require different connectors but more than likely you already have the connectors anyway!
Oh and I have the same processor, twinsies.
And a tip: The motherboard has nothing to do with the connectors. You’d have to change your POWER SUPPLY if you don’t have the cables.
Easy? Warrior and necro. Warrior like RoseofGilead explained, necro because they really, really can’t die. Like, really not.
Fast? Thief, hands down. Zip across the map with shadowstep, shortbow #5 and avoid mobs with shadow refuge. Though how viable they are right now, I have no idea, I haven’t looked in detail at the patch notes yet.
Flight is gliding, I guess? All classes can do that, provided you have Heart of Thorns.
^ Thief was buffed as of the patch so you’ll be plenty well off using it
Those work by preventing a game engine from rendering more than one frame ahead. I think GW2’s game engine does that by default. We have good old fashion server/client lag here.
You are wrong.
From pressing a key to the action is perfectly fast.
I’m talking about the mouse lag created by your fps being higher than your refresh rate.
These programs work by limiting the FPS to 73 so you stay under/at the refresh rate and essentially getting rid of mouse lag, which works for every game BUT Gw2 because it’s ignoring them and continues to run at a higher fps.
When I try to use Nvidia Inspector or EVGA Precision to limit my fps in order to fix the awful mouse input lag, the game ignores it all and continues to run at the unlimited laggy input bull****
Nothing else ignores it and it fixes every other game, Why does gw2 ignore the global settings of the limiters
When I try to use Nvidia Inspector to limit my FPS to 73 to fix the Vsync imput lag, the game completely ignores my limiter and stays higher than the refresh and in turn keeps the input lag on the camera, it’s very frustrating
Entangle is replaced with ancient seeds now which might be even more annoying.
