im having GTX 260 core 216 (OC’d) which is much, much better then 9800GT and I can’t play on everything on MAX without losing good portion on FPS.

Cause as far as i know FX 6100 is really bad bulldozer series which are totaly even worse then Phenom x4/x6.

If I were You ( as You claimed You did not play gw2 for 2 weeks ) I’d check everything I’ve done on PC that could affect the FPS instead of stright forward blaiming patches and company itself.

You picked a Laptop with one of not so good AMD cpus even while Your graphic card is top end.
If You still can, go return that laptop – check law restrictions into that matter, usualy in most EU countires you have 10 days to return stuff you bought without explanation.

If it’s past that time, You could also goto store manager or so and try to talk with him nicely to somehow exchange laptop for other one.

Try to look for a laptop with even a bit lower graphic card : 7850/7870/7950M ir 560/570/580/660/670M gtx series but with i7 CPU QM version with either ( 4 cores or 4 cores/8threads ) with turbo up to 3.4Ghz

How do I know You did not get such FPs ? cause I got a laptop with 3rd gen i5 and a bit lower 540m GPU ( 120 score diff ) and same ram/gpu memory with CPu going to ~3,0GHz turbo mode and I barely had 50 FPS in pve. Not to mention slide shows in WvW.

Also the amount of posts blaming Anet that they “destroyed” Your gameplay with newest patch because you “got” lower fps after patching is kinda sad.

If I were you claming I had such FPS while ago I’d wonder what I did different on my PC/laptop by those few days while not playing or playing gw2 that could affect my performance instead of blaming the company.

Also as far As i Know most ppl complained on lower LA fps because of amount of stuff added to that town including myself. And only loser fps in that town. The latest patch removed winterday events etc making game go back in previous state which in that case should increase your fps instead of reducing it.

Also why you could not get 40-80 fps ? because Even in crowded LA you’d get as You posted that minumin 40 fps, in which case even top end PC stationary CPU’s can have some issues even while being oc’d.

So conclusion is pretty simple. There is no way that a i5 which in power/performance per thread that is weaker then simple i3 for Stationary Rigs could get performance of i7 for PC

What drivers are you using, some people are reporting issues with the latest nvidia drivers, try rolling back?

There is a massive difference in having a laptop for over 1000$ which is top MSI gaming series with gtx680m and top end i7 laptop CPU with 3,4ghz turbo mode with base 4 cores/8threads then a 2 core/4thread middle/low end i5 CPU and a 7670m hd card which is (sorry to say that ) at the bottom of GPU chart for laptops.

Also COngratz Medazolam for reading his post and advising Him to get/check Nvidia Drivers while it’s clearly stated in his post that he uses AMD GPU Just congratz..

And yes scepter auto with full zerk hits like a truck. add to that #2/#3 immo skill from it + fire /lightning sigil and noone will survive this kind of burst at least in spvp/tpvp untill they react fast to immo.

the multiplier with which Your CPU is working can be checked in CPU-z program, just download it.

Also cna be some kind of error with your graphic card.
When you open GPU-z ( if you don’t have – download it ) go to sensors page and while playing GW2 let gpu-z be opened and record results. at some point alt+tab game to see with what frequency your GPu/mem/Shaders are working with.

I’ve seen some graphic cards set to 1000 ghz clocks and somehow rolling on 339ghz or lower then they should.

Also what PSU you got ? ( power supply ?) cause maybe it’s to low and can’t handle the 7770 with i3 on full load?

There is no reason to implement dx11 for game like MMO – because your not playing it for graphics but for story and overall gameplay and being able to play with friends.

Basic rule stick to dx11 on single player games and ocasionaly game like first person shooters :>

First of all There is no way that You would get 40-80 FPS on medium and a lil below 30 fps in WVW with i5 and 7670 on Laptop. So that a simple lie

and it is hardware fault. You Cpu is botlenecking. it’s not powerfull enought to play this game at high fps.

Open nvidia controll panel.
Go to tab programs & features or so.
make sure you chech GW2.exe and pick high/dedicated Nvidia graphic card or somethign like this ( do nto pick integrated graphic card ).

Or Your HDD got corrupt sectors making it unable to load game.

Then this is 90% a in game graphical bug/glitch no worries

That doesn’t seem to be problem with driver not over OC’d card etc, cause this is not clearly any Stuff that would be caused by Your Rig.

it seems kind of wierd in game Lightning/shadow bug rather then GPU issue, why ? Cuase as you can clearly see, where light ends ( top and mostly left side of that picture ) theres no issue. Are You getting this kind of stuff in other placec at night in game like LA ? HUman/Norn towns etc? other forts? in battlefield ? or just in this specific placE?

A x16 PCI-E slot is usualy one thats closer to CPU socet.

You could also upgrade your BIOS in case. Also at this mobo You should have a switch between 2 bios setups. In that case if upgrading BIOS fails ou can switch and check does it help.

It’s not graphical issue cause im having an i3-3220/Gtx 260 on board and im getting fine FPS.

The issue You discribed occured for me with my old CPU. No matter what graphical setting i’ve put on game had same fps over and over again.

The i3 series CPU have an function to work in 2 diff clocks. x33/x16 depending on CPU usage to not overuse CPU.

Make Sure Your CPU is going back to x33 (prolly it’s 3,1or 3.2ghz for your CPU instead of working at 1,5-1,6ghz) I saw once that issue. Cpu was “broken” and didn’t want to get back on it’s usual clocks.

As You bought this rig You just put in parts and started System or reinstalled all stuff all over again ? cause this also may be the problem.

Also wintersday patch was heavy, it added a lot of stuff. for example my fps form 42-45 in LA dropped to 22-24.

correct, thief short bow does not have this issue, ranger bow arrows got a speed buff to fix this.

Ranger arrows got speed buff because of WvW stepping aside.
When You saw arrow close to you, you just stepped a lil left/right making it miss.
That buff had nothing to do with this bug/issue.

So please read most threads about bugs in forums and then start writing. Cuase You have no overall idea why diff buffs/nerfs were implemented and You write kitten like that.

I was proven for rifles. Pistols. Shortbow for ranger. longobw. god kitten scepter even mesmer one.

The problem isn’t at all a AMD CPU. The problem is this specific CPU.
It’s older architecture bulldozer which has many flaws – one of them is a single core performance of old phenoms which is really bad.
You Could try to OC it to 4,5ghz ( there are guides to oc this specific CPU to 4.9 ghz on air cooling with no much votage tweaking) this could make your FPS a “LITTLE” better.
Other option is changing this CPU for newer AMD ( You’d keed your old motherboard ) for fx 6300/8320/8350 → the last 2 would give you good boost ( but You’d also need to oc them. ).

And for major FPS improvement i’d suggest even low buget i3-3240 CPU. it has 2 cores/4threads but it’s single core performance is stunning – which would give you more fps then any AMD.

I cna post you a screen shot on medium sett of mine rig with i3-3220 and gtx 260 if u like that in 10v10 WvW fight keeps 30-40 fps even more – cause fight is more like of spvp ones in which im stacked at 60 fps with some drops due to graphic card – it’s really old GPU having some problems with game even oc’d to it’s limits.

so to sum it up – You can:
OC your fx 6100 to 4,5ghz and see how it goes
change it to fx 6300/8320/8350 Piledriver and oc it – there would be some increase in fps
Get cheap mobo with z77 chip + low bug i3 so you could eventually in future upgrade it to i5.

Remember that you can sell your current mobo+ cpu to get some cash back :>

I have the same GPU as you op and my processor is a 3.2Ghz Ivey bridge (i5-3470 and 8gb ram) and I’m still getting 20-30 in crowded area’s in WvW so I can’t play it at all. Plus when you turn around the game drops 10-15 fps for 1 second which is also frustrating.

You have to buy at least 4ghz cpu to run this game at 30 fps max in WvW with a lot of players. I hope they release a patch that will optimize the game instead of events that you can’t enjoy with 25 fps(

Myself I can’t remember a MMO in which 100++ ppl on screen would allow u to play with 35/40++ FPS untill You have some top end rigs ( i7-3770k/3930k/x or E series for servers ).

With proper optimization you would “maybe” may enjoy 30-35 fps in WvW on i3-3240 or non “K” versions of i5 but thats it.

mine i3-3320 noted lowest fps of 17 with 174 ppl on screen.

But if u seriously want a crap VAIO then I daubt it. this 7670m scores 817 points in bench while 660m scores 1,657.

On low graphical sett you should get fine fps. but only on low.

How do i know that ? cause i got laptop with 3rd gen i5 (turbo 3.10ghz 4core )+ 540m on board (703 points) and it gets freezes/shatters on massive spell effects – and only then. I can stay in massive wvw group and have ~28-30 fps ( firendlies) untill they start even randomly cast spells >.>.
Those graphic cards “Mobile series” untill You go for 7850/7870m or 660/670m will have huge problems due to low bandwith and overall not so good cards. most cards except those mentioned above are ment for movies/youtube watching etc. not for gaming.

Kirito I’ve tried everything in regards to troubleshooting for example EVERYTHING on that stickied list I have no idea why you assume i ain’t looked for fix’s myself too, bottom line is the game is badly programmed which is why it needs a CRAZYILY high spec pc to get anywhere even near a poor 30 fps, it’s unnaceptable and is why any expansion will sell terribly unless its fixed.

I get 60 fps in pve&spvp apart from WvW on i3-3220.
Did u bother to reinstall whole system on PC components change ?
On what HDD you got game installed? sdd?sata? older ones ?
did u check for system programs running in background/viruses? it’s known issue that there are viruses that uses ur cpu a lot like 90-99% and U can’t do kitten.
Check DDR3 sloting – is it properly put in dual channel is u use it/have it.
Make sure u delete gw2 config files and or do -repair.
GO to intel site and check for any drivers for your CPU. Yes they have various stuff that makes your CPU work better.

Sorry but noone will belive that i5-3570nor any i5 of 2nd/3rd gen won’t handle this game at minimum 30 fps in WvW and 60constant FPS in pve/spvp

i5-3470 scores 1912 points in single threaded performance.
while i5-3570K score 2016.

Also i5-3570k Will last longer. Cause in future with more demanding games all you’ll have to do is Oc i5-3570k while with 3470 well, you’ll need to replace it simply.

Yes it Would increase fps BUT Don’t change crap CPU for crap CPU – for 40$ more u can have really good CPU.
If u want good fps in this game go for:
i5-2500K/2550K //i5-3570K // i7-3770K

the “K” is essential as it means that you can Overclock it easily.
Also grab Dual channel ddr3. 4gb is kinda low for this game.. 8gb would be good

Accordin to info of g550 u have 1155 Soc motherboard.
If you don’t have a lot of cash like me, You can get yourself an I3-3220/i3-3240 and it will handle game at 60+ fps in most cases ( exceptions are WvW & Lions arch on wintersday >.> – without event my fps in LA is around 44 ).

I use tho old GTX 260 oc’d to it’s limits now and got all graphic options on high apart form reflections, native render and lod distans on low with shadows off.

Im quite happy.

Depending on your buget and amount of money You want to spend You can get from low performance – but capable of handling gw2 to good performance ( handling WvW situations ) :
I3-3220/3240 – low buget CPU
I5-2500K / i5-3570K – Price diff is around 15-20$ from each other. while it’s kind of more expensive then i3. Tho You can overclock them really nice and get really good fps in all GW2 situations.

As For GPU it depends also on your buget so from low priced in each family it’s like this:
GTX 460/470/480 → gtx 560/560Ti → gtx 650ti/660/660ti
With GTX 480/560ti/660/660ti being most powerfull
And ati 7770 ( it’s bad but really cheap and should handle game at reasonable settings) to DH7850 → which offers a performance of gtx660 and it’s a lot cheaper.!!

A i3-3240 + HD 7850 would definately handle game at minimum 40-45 fps on high setting in all situations except WvW battles.

If you’d bother to read some posts on forum You’d know that this is human starting cave and theres something wrong in it cause many ppl are getting crap fps in it.

Also turn off reflections cause you seriously don’t need em and it’s massive hit on your fps.

hah. when I picked new cpu few months ago i had to chose from i3-3220 vs fx 4100. Obvious choice was i3-3220.

I cannot complain on it because it handles the game at 60 fps constant apart from WvW and LA. untill I put all graphic options on best apperance and then my fps goes down.

I wouldn’t call this CPU high end as it still falls behind i5 2500k and I wouldn’t comapre it to i5 3570k – which still aren’t high end. as high end cpu is i7-3770k and i7-3930k :>

Well first of all reinstall drivers for your graphic card.
Check Your memory ( DDr3) if it’s set in right slots ? if u have that 8gb in Dual channel make sure to put it in right slots.
Try Oc’ing your CPU to 4,9ghz ( you can find a lot of guides online ).
Check Your program working in background – aren’t they using a lot of CPU so it can’t focus mainly on GW2.]
Also You should remember that MMo’s focus mostly around CPU and it’s capabilities, not the GPU. it’s cause by massive amount of players and information and stuff going on which makes it CPU intensive

Also Even that piledriver is a good step from AMD in creating good CPU’s it’s still not so good. It single core performance is at par with i3-3220.

This game due to dx9 uses only ~3 cores, so it makes i3 even better for it.
You can also try deleting config file in your gw2 intalation folder to reset graphic settings. I had same problem as u before with my old CPU – constant fps no matter what graphic options I could set and it was CPU fault.

the 470 im biding is :
gtx 470 OC 1280MB gigabyte 3xFan – with original box and all stuff and still aorund 2 years of varanty.
Guy claims that it was used only for few months and never oc’d past standard factory oc.

As for 560ti. there are few tho mostly over 150$, there is 1 ZOTAC GeFORCE GTX 560TI 1GB, for less then 100$ ( auction is now on 23$ price and 3 days left ) tho guy claims that he got it for x-mass and can’t check it ( is it working cause he doesn’t have proper pci-e in his pc… which is kinda bullkitten if u ask me… ) so he sells it as damaged…

but woulnd’t a SLI 460 be better then 7850/650ti ?
Coulnd’t find any comparsion, but it seems that SLI 460 ~~ gtx 480.
They would cost the same and I could buy now 1, and in few months another :O
