Im running it with GTX 260 on medium/low ( Due to crap GPU >.> ) sett and getting 25-31 fps In WvW.
Maybe this is not great view on WvW as some ppl hidden but it’s fine in most cases.

So get good intel Mobo, i3-3220, a gtx 660 or 560ti and upgrade i3 later on to Ivy brige i5 ( which is prolly i5-2550k? )

try -repair files.
Reset your graphic settings.
Check Your PCi-e slot.
Check is your graphic card working at x1 or x16.
Check does clocks work on 3d gaming frequency aka max power.

My fps actually went Up from 41-44 in LA to 50-52.

It’s obvious that If you have really old ring it won’t run game like GW2 which is really heavy on CPU while having bad CPU and very old one on barely 2GHz clock.

WoW is old game based on same engine for 8-9 years. not much have changed so old Rigs will handle it.

Guild Wars 2 minimum requirements allow you to run the game. They say nothing about reaching at least “Xx” FPS on it.

You could start of reading stickie posts to go trought what you could change.

Also we can’t help you by not knowing what are components of Your computer.

Also Try lowering all graphics to low ( best performance ) and check your fps then.
From that point GO up with settings untill you get results that will satisfy You and will grant you good fps.
Best to try this in Lions arch or other crowded zone

Also to not waste Forum space you can write Pw message

also High end GPus start from:

7800 Series in Crossfire / 7900 series
GTX 660 SLI / 670+ ( with an GTX 690 as best gaming GPU with 7970 or so with close to it from ati ).
and most 500 series of GTX as 570/580 and 560Ti version – tho can be wrong on this…

Also this game don’t require good GPU.
You need A superman CPU

It’s Your CPU probably thats bottlenecking even if You don’t see it or can’t measure it.

A FX-4100/4170 are realyl bad bulldozer CPU’s.

If I were you having enough cash : 300-350$ i’d take i5-2500k and some low price mobo for it and o’c it even to 4GHz. it would give you boost in perfomance.
Also Try getting beta ATI drives not sure which one they are cause im using Nvidia card.

If You don’t want to move on Intel platform these CPU’s should do the work:
AMD X6 FX-6300 3.5GHz
AMD X8 FX-8320

And From personal point of wiev im having myself i3-3220 CPU with GTX 260 + which is kinda low but with most medium options and FXAA turned on im having pretty good fps even in WVW. tho in my case my GPU is serious bottleneck, thats why I can’t get over medium settings.
I’ve posted in some other thread my FPS in LA ( which is pretty heavy zone and good for measurement ) where i had 44 FPS. In open areas i get from 55-100 depending on zone.

Problem is that this game uses only 2-2,5 CPu cores. And a intel Single thread processing is much faster then single AMD by 30-50% in some cases, thats why even 2 core ( 4 thread ) i3 CPUs handle this game better as it’s Heavy on CPU.

You could Try Your luck with 2 AMD Cpus i’ve put in this response or just move to i5-2500k cause this cpu with your GPU will give u good performance for next 2-3 years.

I’d move to i5 myself but im short on cash right now so probably next year or after xmass present im gonna buy it myself

First of all:
Reflections off or only terrain & sky.
Also shadows instead of ulta on medium/high.
And most important LOD distance on high/max is something you don’t need – you won’t notice difference cause it renders object that are far away and it only makes your gpu work for no reason.
From Supersample rendering go for native, don’t overload your gpu with stuff you don’t need.
Post-processing on medium.
also seriously turn off best textures filtering & high-res character textures.

You put all stuff at max and you worry that your fps is only 30 >.> gosh

There are knows issues about shadows & reflections causing your FPS to fall down with great drama.

Also im not sure about Your CPU, but you might look for thread called :
AMD CPU and GW2 cause most amd cpus have problems with that game, even those oc’d to 4-4,5ghz

And now look your fps skyrockets :>

Also Your Rig as is good, well I wouldn’t call that CPU good, it’s kitten actually, basic i3-3120 would handle this better and this game is CPU heavy, also your graphic card is medium when it comes to this game in performance and You want to play on max settings in full hd.

Please rethink Your steps first when it comes to Your expectations and the equipement you have.

At start im kinda new to the game.
And Im struggling in between Ranger or Mesmer class.

I’ve played over 60 spvp gmes, with half of them as ranger and other half as mesmer.
Done both chars to 15+ and still can’t decide who to play with.

Im aware of that Rangers are in kind of weak state now due to bugs and overall low dmg of lb&gs but class itself seems so fun to run with greatsword or longbow/short bow and doging around.

Well to the point.
I can’t chose class cause I like em both to much, but i have no time doing them both to 80 so i would need a really good adive from 80 lvl players out there who play any of those 2 classes.

My concenrs are :
1)is ranger dmg really so low and they are unable to kill anyone in wvw?
2)how do ranger handle dungeon apart from constant pet deaths?
3)how bad is surv at higher lvls with ability to solo veterans/champions with ranger?
4) what classes is ranger struggling with ? in spvp i’ve been running with sb burst/cond build with arrow pierce so apart from mass bleeds i’ve been dyin a lot…
5) hows leveling on higher lvls ? in low lvls with 6 armor pieces and 6 siff power runes + bloodlust sigil it seems so easy that i could do lvl 20 mobs at 14 lvl…
6) is longbow really such a bad weapon ? i’ve read a lot of complains on forums, tho in game most of ranger i’ve spoken to seemd really happy…

and for mesmer:
1)is mesmer aoe really that bad with all that tagging ? in lower lvls i seem to not have this issue but im with full power runes/10 into power traits so my dmg is kinda high…
2)how hard is to solo veterans/champions as mesmer?
3)what classes do mesmer struggle in pvp?

And overall,
1) hows mesmer dmg compared to rangers ?
2) which one brings more utility to spvp/wvw/dungeons? well apart from mesmer portal ability ofc..

I see no reason why would you not be able to summon zerker while you can’t see your target as it’s not basic summon.

As seriously, when from it’s so hard to 2 shot a zerk?

It’s so freaking hard to notice warrior kneeling to do that shot and then evade?

Please stop acting like you would be stupid and start thinking about your steps in pvp.
He cannot 1 shot you with using your own signet for 6s immortality. or using pet skill to do that also. he can’t do crap if u interrupt him. You can dodge.

You did stick to this 1 skill which to work and do 20k crit needs a lot of buffs and other stuff with full proper gear and still it’s so easy to avoid.

Wanna see how good is that skill ? Cool do a warrior, ill make for example mesmer, and will see how good you are when ill use reflect skill so you die off your shot.

Well Maybe warrior does do 20k dmg crit with a skill that needs full “rage” and fully depels it so he needs to recharge it again.

In meantime You and your pet can do twice if not 3 times that dmg to him.

Also with proper build You as ranger have 12s of “immortality” where warrior can’t do kitten and you can just laugh at his face.
Look some ranger vids/ screen shots where pets do 3-5k crits alone with base attacks. att to that bleeds from hawks etc or might buffs from tiger and seriously you will outdmg that warrior and you have much more utility.

First of all this vid was posted here at least 10 times now.
second of all This warrior is pure kitten when you attack him as ranger he can’t do kitten, only run. Easy and simple to beat.

This warrior build is only good when u remain unnoticed by anyone and can freely do dmg. Same this applies to Mesmers Berserk or duelist when they remain unnoticed and just rip enemies apart.

Yes the crit dmg is just stupid. but it’s easy to avoid as many ppl stated.
Ofcourse it’s harder in crowds but seriously if You watch most of WvW videos, ppl are dyin so badly to random stuff like aoe that u won’t even notice what you got hit from.

And seriously get your ranger even with gs or lb build or even crappy sword in 1 hand and ull see how that warrior is good in 1v1 combat against you.

I don’t want to be defensive here as i never played warr, my most loved chars are mesmer and ranger. But this guy when anyone notice him and decides to kill him can only run. Thats how this build is good at.

Well, I want to say that FPS in this game has actually gotten worse since release, not better. WORSE. I am getting such crappy FPS, whereas prior to some of these releases I was getting decent fps. Running the personal quest (vision of the pale tree) and the FPS is utter and complete crap. Seriously…. im gettin 21 FPS, and the colors are all blurred out now. Constant backslide with this game.

And what CPU are u using….??

i wouldn’t count Spvp as a good mesurement point as it’s hard to find there skilled oponents. once in 10 games i see person really skilled in thier class.

I’ve been reading every single thread about how to fix illusions/phantasms etc for pve AOE and overall to make em better.

But never saw an simpliest of ideas:
Making phantasms and illusions as basic summon spells ! yes spells that don’t need a target, are following you ( as summons for necro ) and attacking only when you enter combat a closes hostile target to them.
Let’s say that Berserker phantasm CD with it’s reductioin can reach around 12-13sec ?

So make it 14s for summoning, 25s lasting ( zerk lasts 25 seconds when summoned )
so at some point you can have 2. it’s not ideal cause in some perfect situations in boss fight i nearly managed to put out 3 zerks ( still have no cd reduction traits ) but im sure it’s possible.

It would apply to all phantasms.
Cause seriously it’s such a waste to summon for example warden for 2-3 sec and then see him dissapearing cause target is dead.

What Do You think ?

hours you have to spend on planning build, training and skill required to play mesmer so noone can kill you/win with you in 1v1 sit and sometimes in 3v1 is incredible.

1 mistake and Your dead.

But hell it’s not my toon :> it’s like swapping lambo for old Ford mustang that requires a lot of work and repainting and new parts >.> in the end you’ll be happy but hours spent on it makes you think twice.

FULL reflections is major hit in FPS ( Some reported that from 100+ fps in no reflections at all to full they lost 50-60 FPS ).

Also put kittening LOD distance to low/medium. You don’t need high it just makes Your GPU work to hard for result You don’t even notice. Im sure You don’t even know what LOD means otherwise You wouldn’t put it on Max…

Unfortunately, many people have GPUs more than able to handle everything gW2 can throw at it. It’s the CPU that is the main problem now, and no mainstream CPU can play WvW at max @ 60fps in WvW.

Dear sam.
Many ppl with 2500k + GTX 680 SLi/GTX 690 reported major FPS hit with reflections on max.

he’s complaining about overall fps not WVW. ESP for fps in Towns like LA.

It’s not only Asura problem.
All female models : human / sylvari / norn / asura have glitches when GS is in the texture.
Some male models have this to : Norn / Asura / ( Some armors on : humam / sylvari ).
Only character that seem to not have this problem is Charr due to very different body build.

So it’s not only asura problem. and it’s hard to make wepon look good on back ( not being to far away from it – floating mid air ) and making all armors look good.

Imagine a real life situation where u have weapon on your back and huge robe – Your GS with push robe towards your body but due to reallistic animation in “real life” your gs doesn’t glitch into your robe but pushes it back.

It’s hard to get same effect in game. it’s easier to let Weapons blend into textures as it’s really minor problem.

I have serious problem. As far as I know, mesmer is one of most cool and best classes in game on par with ranger, at least for me.

So I try to do that mesmer, and picking off different classes to see how they look in armor with different weapons. and i stuck.

Done almost each race : norn female, sylvari female, asura male up to lvl 12-20.
And can’t decide on a single race cause noone fit my taste…
I love how “Archmagish” armor look on male bodies, it’s serious, saying “hey im a mesmer im gonna kick your kitten soon” while on most females armors looks like they left circus 5 minutes ago ;/.

As I like sylvari overall animations, I just can’t stand any of the armor look except masquarade set or so ? ( this with huge dress ).

And all the staff is slowly pushing me for my norn ranger due to awesomeness of ranger armors & medium norn specific armors in general.

So what made your mind about race for that Mesmer when it comes to armor looks ?

Due to cutness reason female Asuras have different ear placement for lef&right ear.

You can notice it on 4-5 faces. for example try Lowest left face. 1 year is kinda of laid back.

Male asuras doesn’t have that and they ears are simetrical.

Not sure, but most glitches in armor are caused by light armor/medium ones .
While on female almost whole gs is hidden under textures of armor, in case of male it seems to be better…
also if u aimed for legendary stright away and made character for it i’d go with Sylvari female or norn >.>

And it seems that ppl are forgeting main Thing when it comes to CPU.

AMD is MOSTLY/ONLY desktop CPU which RULES in stuff like Video processing, making presentations etc. while it’s only efective when all cores are running.

While Intel In mainly gaming CPU due to it’s incredible single thread processing capabilities.

Man but it’s true. Don’t expect game from 2012 year run smoothly with 60 avg fps on pc from past 4 years.

2 weeks ago I had e4600 dual core oc’d to 3ghz with almost same rest components and I had avg of 16 fps.
16 FPS.

Now my fps with new cpu i3-3220 Is minimum 25 at massive wvw, in farming/pve i get 60-100.

And If u turn Your game box You can see a information That at some point of game development You’ll probably need to buy better pc to run game smoothly.

Also Sure, let arena net respond for all those thread made each day about low fps.
Sure let’s focus on responding rather then Fixing issue.
at 15.11.2012 theres going to be major patch and probably with it there will be some Graphical/CPU fixes.

get an i3/i5/i7 processor and U’ll be fine.
Reason that AMD suck so bad in this game is that It’s single core/thread processing capability is about 50% less efficent then any intel unit.

So untill this game will run at full 4 cores ur CPU will be far worse then even low bug i3-3120.

well I was hoping for something which at least In 1/4th way sounds as cool as Zojja xD

You got one of best PC CPUS which can be oc’d to 4ghz easily try it so envy ;p
and second of all clean up ur hard drives and scan it for viruses.

Also open your pc case and check for dust, it might be getting a bit hotter…

I get 35-45 fps depending on crowd.

So Your only choice Is to go for Intel.
Intel when it comes to signle threat processes is much faster by any AMD even from top shelf.
i’ve seen ppl with “better” and more expensive AMD CPUS like fx 8150 or fx 8350 or so having same fps then I do…

If I were You and had that money for an i5-2500k It’s just no brainer. Rush to store get it and take some cheaper mobo with 1600hz memory and you’ll see incredible FPS boost.

So im doing Asura. it’s great race, but each time I reach last tab in character creation I feel like frozen cause can’t get a cool sounding name…

And yes I’ve gone trought the other topic named like that but well im not interested in simple namec like hikk, tokk or matt etc…

While I found this name generator, ever sice yesterday im tryin to find a good name.
But I can’t cause most of great names doesn’t have Double letter, and they would kinda suck with Double letter… And most Asuras seems to have short names while those I find cool are kind of longer and i’d like to stick to “lore” when it comes to naming my character…

Im sorry for yesterdays nerd rage problem.

But I’d Like to ask something that bothers me.

My pc is:
i3-3220 @3.3GHz
8gb ddr3
GTX 260 super OC 216 cores version from gigabyte

And usually in questing areas and PvE experience like mass events I get around 50-120 FPS. Yes 120 FPS.

But strage thing occurs in Norn Area vs Other races areas esp. starting towns and Caves.

While Im questing in norn area my fps Is skyrocketing to 90-100+ even when i stand in this starter town my fps with few ( 5-10 ) ppl is around 60-70, same in caves, no fps drops.

But as soon as i enter human area ( starting zone ) no matter if theres someone in town ( player or so ) and my fps goes down for a bit to 35, and then is steady itself to 44-45. I’ve noticed that also in Asura area, while charr & sylvari are decent at 55-60 fps…

In caves at human zone my fps struggle to keep up at 31-33 and im seriously not sure why.

another strange thing happens in WvW.
While I run with my team of about 20 ppl I get no fps drops at all it just sits at 45-50 but as soon as I see an enemy player/players Fps drops to 30, and peaks down to 20 in massive zergs.

Im aware of that my CPU isn’t i5-2500k OC’d to 4,5Ghz, and my GPU isn’t a GTX 660++ but im wondering should FPs in such situations for example cave entering and in cave drop to barely 30… even if I lower graphics to low I get same FPs.

And im not sure is getting a i5 with 4 base cores/8 threads worth taking while i3 with 2 cores/4 threads never reaches even 70% of use…

This is outrageous.

I know that You Anet + NCsoft raced for money with Blizzard and thier MoP release.

And seriously 60$ for a game which is half done is silly. I regret getting this game at this specific moment I cna’t even describe it.

First of all I had to replace my PC. Fine it needed to be renewed anyway.
Then Still In WvW There are FPS issues and funny part is, that I cna run with 50+allies at ~45 FPS but as soon i’ll be even allone vs 30-40 HECK even 10 man group of enemies FPS goes down to 20-25.
And this is nothing trust me.
Since I bought game I had wierd Router issues while nothing was runnin ( either torrent, no dl’s even turned off avast etc. ) my router had random dc’s due to GW2.

And Now my kittening game client lost it connetion to freaking server and im tryin to log in for like 1 hour with no freaking effect.

AND yes for Further questions. I"VE made no changes to pc sice that 1 hour.
I logged off and Couldn’t log in again !.

Could You please Fix that game or seriously I’ll consider asking that 60$ back.

From the scratch.

I’ve done 2 asuras both as good looking as possible. Tho I have a problem.
My fem Asura looks really amazing with face/eyes/ear shape I picked but no matter what body type I choose They seem to look a bit hmm to big in the hips&butt areas… Armor almost each armor seems to be huge there and stands out from the body.

While male asura looks more lined up… and probably by my small research Male asura weapons looks a bit bigger.

And honestly this “thing” that they done to female hips&butt area is just imo horrible. I understand thet female need to have a “ kitten #8221; but they gone to far with it…

And now i stuck in a point on my character selection screen sayin to myself:

“ kitten that Female is so cute…. But male got more and better lined up body… and fem hairstyles are better etc…”

How did You guys handled that choice?

Cause i seriously can’t. While I’ve made some armor previews on both asuras at front female looks better in almost any armor due to wonderfull face&hairstyle but from the 3rd person perspective male seems to be looking better…

And i stuck… cuz male faces meh…

Or is there any possible body build/heigh to pick to minimalize this ? on fem asura

I have no idea what might be a problem.. maybe some program running in background using a lot of resources?

I got pretty similiar spec to yours:
i3-3220
Gigabyte GTX 260 super OC 216 Cores edition
8gb ram

And my fps is same 60-100 in most zones,
35-40 in LA crowded
and around 20-30 in massive WvW – depends on amount of ppl…

Tho I play on all Medium with FXAA + native render on 1920/1080 resolution.

So trust me it’s not Your GPU. mine also is working on 98-99% on those settings but it’s handling it.

Problem in Your case can be in CPU the i5-2500.
Im not sure what can cause the problem but im 100% sure it’s Your CPU.

Also for GPU instal 310.33 Beta Driver

Check core parking/check it with CPU-z try AIDA64.
Check clock MHz maybe somehow it gone down ?
Or Scan Your system via avast or other anti-vir – there are few viruses which occupy your CPU so badly U can’t do kitten.
Also Update Intel drivers from Intel website check bios etc.

It’s just me or I can’t hear on female asura “six feet tall” when I get might buff…
and overall her voice acting is kinda “missing” in few parts…

for example male asura on each dodge does this strange noise “aaagh” and fem asura rarely gives any noise…

I’ve got kind of overall look of char but…

What skin color to take ? this is seriously bugging me out.

I’ve tried something similiar to Zojja’s color – kind of brown/light brown.
Then i’ve gone nuggat and a bit darker brown.
Tho I can’t really see any of these asuras around.
Seems like most of them uses Light gray/gray or blue/light blue with porcelian…

But those bright colours seem to blind my eyes…
What colors did you take and why ?

I am aware of the fact that i5 2500k is much better tho it costs around 270$ wchich is a lot for me as i live in poland and as most ppl know when you cwlculate our monthy income for euro/$ it goes around 400eu/ 500$ and still got bills to pay etc. Thats why i took cheap option i3 + mb + ddr3 and then get gpu ; gtx 560 andd eventually after that getting i5 cause i dabut anyone will give me 250$ for cpu for free :p. Also i’ve done test with lowering graphic option to minimum to check fps increase, in LA statue from 33-34 fps crowded it raised to 44-45 fps

that hairstyle in combat stance just glitches trought whole body.

All norn long hairstyles are laid on her back in combat stance except one…

With all respect You have no idea what my CPU/GPU usage is and ur writing kitten as hell.

First of all it’s Ivy brige which gives 10-15% increase in performance from Sandy brige, second of all my CPU usage doesn’t go over 78% – this was max % i’ve saw during around 30 man WvW.

My GPU on the other way around Sits on 99-100% all the time, which means it’s bottlenecking.

And first of all consider that for some ppl spending a 250$ for CPU only it’s massive amount of cash. for that 250$ I had my CPU&MB&DDR3.

Recently I replaced my e4600 core 2 duo with new CPU and new platform tho I left my old :
Gigabyte GTX 260 OC 216 cores which was one of best cards long time ago ;p

So now my rig looks like:
I3-3220 @ 3,3GHz Ivy brige
Memody Kingstone 2×4Gb dual channel 1600
Gigabyte B75-DV3 Motherboard
500W power supply
GTX 260 OC 216 cores.

My FPS from old rig at 16 total FPS jumped to ~20FPS at 30-40man WvW/ 30-45 in Cities to 60-100 FPs in places like solo farming/killing stuff etc.

So I though to myself that I could get this fps up only by getting new GPU for now.
So I looked trough offers and im considering one of these:
GTX 560 oc’d
GTX 460 oc’d
Ati HD card but totaly no idea what to get here…
HD 7770?
Some HD 6000 series ?

This game is really kitten.

On my laptop with i5-2410M at 2,3-2,7T GHZ with GTZ 540M ( which is probably at same level as the 7660D from A10 ) im getting around 40-50 fps at this point…
