Honestly I think they should have kept the split PVP/PVE skill mantra that they started in Guild Wars. It’s completely frustrating to have a viable PVE build ruined because of PVP. I’m sure it’s equally frustrating the other way around.
Their solution in Guild Wars was brilliant and why they tried to move away from it when pretty much every other game out there does the same thing, nerfs/boosts skills to try to make them viable for both types of game play with both types of game play are completely different, is beyond me. It’s an exercise in frustration for players.
As a guild leader I send a few welcome emails with important information to my new guild members. Because of the character limit in emails I’ve had to break this into four emails.
- A Welcome email
- A Guild Bank info Email
- A Guild Rank info email
- A voice chat info email
But it now takes me 20 minutes to send 4 emails to one person. This is a problem
There a few options that could help resolve this issue.
- Allow more characters in emails
- Exempt you from message suppression if you’re emailing someone in your guild or someone who has you on their friends list
And while we’re at it how about giving guilds the option to purchase with influence a way for leaders to send guild wide emails.

Why even call whirlpool elite, it’s nowhere near elite now.. geeze Anet
Yes it is annoying indeed. No doubt it is a bug that nobody reported during the BWEs (because those players weren’t really bug testing, they were playing the game [they need bug testers not gamers]).
It is tiring putting back nicknames to your contact list. I’d rather know them by what I know them instead of their ArenaNet Display Name which, in the first place, should have been private (wherein, if you added my character name, then you’ll see only that and never my alts. But if I gave you my ANet Display Name, then you’ll see my alts.)
You would be wrong to think nobody reported this issue during the beta weekends as I know for a fact that I and my friends reported it. I’m sure it’s just not that high on the priority list.
Thank you for the info
I sooo would love to have her armor, it reminds me of the paragon armor from GW1.
We also need a buff indicator on the UI for when things like +10% to magic find are active as of right now there is no way to even tell it’s active unless you happen to look at the upgrades tab.
I like this idea either this or custom chat rooms would be great.
Im frustrated killing mobs while i try go gathering nodes, i need kill 3-5 mob before i get any loot and its just feel unrewarding. Least in WoW u get trash or few copper when u kill mob but in GW2 u dont get anythink.
Can understand WvWvW drops but in pve i expet get rewarded when i kill mob.
well you’ll be glad to know there is an update coming to the Diminishing returns system in the next few days. source
/signed,
the current system makes it hard for guild leaders to keep on top of things. We could also really really really really (I can’t stress how much) do with
1/ officer chat (desperately needed )
2/ message of the day actually announcing in guild chat. ATM it’s kinda pointless.
3/ an option to announce people logging into and out of the guild
4/ to be able to make notes, in my guild we use real life names and it’s hard to keep track of who’s who.
5/ an option to see how much of the time people are representing the guild. If someones only represented once, then they might as well not be in it. Or if someone represented us 100% since joining they should be rewarded.
6/ a guild calendar or some way for members to sign up for guild/ group events
I agree we definitely need all of these things. Running a guild right now is kinda difficult.
We do need a Cash On Delivery Option.
The Guild buffs are nice, but currently there is no indicator that they are active on the ui. Not everyone checks the upgrades section of the guild panel. It would be nice if there was some kind of indicator similar the banners indicator on the ui when buffs like the +10% magic find were active.
Thanks,
MrsAngelD
I don’t think that it’s the mechanics of the game that are making players appear antisocial; I think it has more to do with how popular voice communication has become.
I may be working with others in the area I’m in but most of the time I’m in a VOIP chat channel with 50 other players in my guild.
Using text chat to communicate with other players also becomes problematic as MMO combat becomes more action and reaction based.
I also have to agree with the above poster, I never accept a random invitation to group from someone that hasn’t sent me a tell first.
I think it absolutely has everything to do with voice chat. I myself am always in voice chat when I’m gaming, with my guildies. it’s just easier especially with the way combat is in GW2.
Hello Wilson, and you’re definitely not alone with this bug here is a thread with 264 replies on the exact same bug.
What’s the point of creating a group for non-dungeon things? Grouping does not change the mechanics in any way except that you see those faces on top left corner and blue dots on minimap. We are all automatically part of one large group where ever we are. You are grouped with everyone you see.
There is no tagging or shared objectives or anything like that like in other games. You won’t get credit from kills or loot even if you are grouped if you do not attack the mob and if you attack the mob, it does not matter if you are grouped with others or not
One point would be so you & your friends can keep track of each others locations while running around together.
you can also create your own activities, and I’m going to do scavenger hunts and purchase the box of fun from the gem store for parties for my guild. I’m also working on various contests such as lore & game related quizzes with prizes.
yeah I think it was a miss-communication you should probably make sure your thread titles are very clear.
I may be wrong about this but It seems to me, we gain influence faster when completing events while grouped with guildies. That at least appears to be the case from my own guild leaders perspective.
Honestly I read your whole post, and what I see you saying is that you prefer a different type of game. That’s okay nothing wrong with that. I hope you at least got your monies worth of entertainment.
Taking everything into account, I think you are right. Whatever type GW2 is, it’s not for me. At all. I was hoping it’s gonna be the next big thing but I’m just so disappointed. I’ve read things about it before release and, while I had my issues with it, I hoped it’s gonna work out in the end somehow. Needless to say it didn’t…
well I sincerely hope you can find a game that suits you better. I personally didn’t care for it but you might consider the secret world, and a lot of people have found it to be more their cup of tea.

I group up a lot of but it’s normally with my husband or guildies. I’m generally wary of strangers for a couple of reasons.
1) I’ve had a few bad stranger experiences in the past.
2) I’m a guild leader and sometimes I just want some me game time.
To participate in those events, will there be a level requirement? Or more like, they’ll take place in lower level areas so all can attend. Something like, in Queensdale, or something.
Arena Net love’s holidays and has always provided something for everyone. I wouldn’t worry
arena net has never supported mods and I wouldn’t hold my breath on them changing their stance.
I hope it is like the GW1 festivals. They were epic
.
I really didn’t like the time dependant quests in those festivals. Finales I can understand, but being an Aussie I often missed several of them
I’m not sure how you missed them they always ran for a full 24 hours.
I can’t wait to see what Arena Net has in store for Halloween It was always the best holiday in Guild Wars.
I can’t support this, the game is already limited in skill customization and you want to limit it more??
Guild Wars gave you the option to hide tooltips for skills on your skill bars. It’s a nice option because after a while if you know what your skills do you no longer need to read the descriptions all the time any more. Plus some of the tooltips are pretty big and take up a lot of screen space.
Can we please have this option in GW2 as well
Thank you,
Angel

You should open a support ticket.
I don’t think they need a separate tool, just add it to the interface like we had in Guild Wars. But I definitely agree something like that is needed.
I so wish we had this… you have my vote
I reported this during beta weekend 3 thinking it was a forum bug. But since launch several posts I have posted in have been moved for whatever reason and It’s always with these horrible dead end p.m.’s I really wish they would get this fixed.
Thank you for your help
this has happened to me twice, both times while fighting claw of jormag.. on board realtek drivers.
they said it might take some time for the social systems in the game to settle down and start working properly, maybe that explains your issues.
I see you can queue up research politics Level 5 and it costs 20,000 influence to get it. But I don’t see that there is any benefit to doing so. I tried looking on the wiki and googling it but couldn’t find anything. Does anybody know if there is any benefit to researching it?
Thanks in advance,
Angel
Yes, resetting traits should be something that is free and that was something that GW1 established from day 1.
If were being so different from all other MMOS and emphasizing the ‘fun’ factor than why on earth are we not following our own good example and are instead turning this into another money/time sink?
Wrongwrongwrongwrongwrongwrongwrong.
Day 1 GW1 had some dumbfounded ‘refund point’ system.
Regardless if it wasn’t from day one, the fact that you could change your points freely in town was a great thing & gave lot’s of room for experimentation something a bunch of people feel is lacking.
Thank you guys….. Still blown away by all the replies to this, I expected it to be buried by now…lol.
You can represent the other, but you won’t be able to chat with anyone in your guild, and your activities won’t net your guild any influence.
Wow I wasn’t expecting so many replies, thank you all very much for the anniversary wishes
I was a long time gw player and I never played the pvx meta game. I loved working on builds and trying to figure out what worked best for whatever myself and my husband were trying to tackle.. I do miss that.
Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes
@Haishao.6851 really…. I had no idea… I just hope you have the idea that I’m using sarcasm right now. No crap dude. It’s still an annoyance that we have to unequip our items to transmute them. Why the hell does it even matter? Was there a big bug that people were abusing or did a Blizzard employee get into ArenaNet HQ and decide they should add some minor annoyance to slow people down like the thousands of things that do that in Warcrap.
There was a bug that made characters nude, I’m guessing the easiest way to fix it was to remove the ability to transmute equipped items.
So far, 407 different dyes have been discovered
That is awesome
happy Anniversary
Thank you

Hello,
I’m a mother, housewife & I’m also a guild leader of a great guild with lot’s of fun & friendly folks in it. I’ve also been disabled for quite some time now, the disability makes it extremely difficult for me walk or stand more than a few moments at a time. Due to my disability it’s very difficult for me to leave the house and I rarely do except to see my doctors. Since I’ve become disabled my husband and I have discovered a shared love of gaming. We began our foray into online gaming about a year after launch of Guild Wars and we loved it immensely, and had been very much anticipating the launch of GW2 since it was announced.
Yesterday was our 8th wedding anniversary. Since it’s difficult for me to leave the house, my husband surprised me with a day off from work (as well as with a few other nice surprises ). So I decided to take the day off from being guild leader. This means I didn’t log into mumble, where I pretty much hang out during the day, though I may be AFK sometimes and not actually playing the game.
Anyway we spent the day exploring Blazeridge Steppes discovering all the little nooks and crannies in the zone, we even did both the puzzles. And well it was just an amazing way to have a sense of exploring and wandering for somebody who can no longer do those things with the person she loves. I really want to say thank you to Arena Net for making such a wonderful world for me to explore and delve into and while it will never be the same as the hiking we used to enjoy so much, you have made it completely possible for me to forget about those things I can’t do any more for at least a little while because your world is so expansive, immersive and beautiful.
So thank you very much and keep up the good work

- +1 to the transit pass idea
- More cosmetics based on GW1 armor. I would love to be able to wear the paragon armor from GW. As well as some of the Elementalist armor sets.
- Plastic surgery for my toons
- Sex changes
- Haircuts
- Tonics that aren’t account bound so I can share them with my friends
- Capes
- Boxing outfit to go along with those cool boxing gloves
That’s all I can think of right now.
Kimbald.2697While it’s wonderful that you’re enjoying yourself so much, it really is, that doesn’t change the fact we are discussing the downscaling here.
The reason why you go about in the low level zones will vary from player to player.
But in the end Anet promoted this game heavily with exactly that feature of downscaling.
Now it happens to be that this downscaling isn’t working exactly as promised: a lvl 80 has no challenge and is a lot stronger than a leveling character for which the zone dificulty is designed.
This defeats the purpose of downscaling. You either go all the way with it, or it leaves max lvl characters too strong for the mobs there.
There really is no in between.
What I don’t get about your post is the simple way in which you dismiss any critisism on the finetuning we’re discussing here.
Are you saying that because someone thinks the downscaling isn’t working right, that we are playing a game that’s not for us?
I state the opposite: if you think downscaling is working good, while still being too strong as 80 in lower zones, than you are not playing the game Anet promoted.
Their whole idea was to bring you down to the level of the zone, that was the pitch, not bring you ‘almost’ down.
We both know that you are not in the wrong game, but think of this for a minute please.
Honestly I beg to differ about the challenge, I have found quite a few challenging things in lower level zones. I’ll grant you that level scaling could use a bit of tweaking, as at level 80 the starter zones are just too easy, but in other zones I don’t find this to be the case.
But the part of my comments which you quoted were in reference to the people who were complaining about the drops not the level scaling. As somebody who wanders zones quite a lot I get plenty of drops and some of those are level appropriate, but of course not all of them. I have even received yellows for a level 80 while being down leveled.
This game isn’t meant to go out shiny hunting, it’s meant for you to go out and just have fun eventually with time and exploration you’ll get the shiney loot.
(edited by MrsAngelD.6971)
I have logged 492 hours since launch, I have 7 characters & one level 80. I have maxed out tailoring, artificing, jewelcrafting, and chef. I have barely even played any of my alts because I’m still running around doing things on my main. My husband and I really enjoy just going out and exploring the world. Even parts we’ve already done.
My Guildies and I have done dungeons, and are still working on various explorables. We get together and do events and WvW.
This game is a wonderful game. But what it has to offer may not be what you’re into. There is nothing wrong with that, different strokes for different folks. But instead of sitting around complaining how this game isn’t for you, you might consider just going to a game that does give you what you like.
I have a little over 11 gold on my main character, no it won’t buy me any exotics or anything but that’s ok I plan to eventually craft mine when I get the materials and get there on my own in my own way. Right now I sell materials from the zones I’m exploring and that helps me do ok with coin and I do map around quite a bit.
My Guild has run lot’s of dungeons and yes they can be messy if you don’t plan & coordinate. You need to figure out a strategy use it. These dungeons are very tactical and they require teamwork.
Honestly I think GW2 would benefit nicely from a public group system similar to rifts. Where when you make a party you can set it to public and people can join/leave at will. I believe the max size for their parties is like 5 and after that it auto switches to a raid frame. With the way Dynamic events work in this game it would be awesome if we could have bigger groups to make doing those large dynamic more coordinated.
