You know Mighteous. I very literally was just telling a guild-mate that i was shocked that we hadn’t seen more of you in this thread. And true to form, here you are lol
Although… I wouldn’t go so far as you being “naturally more intelligent.” Naturally larger than most players? I’ll give ya that. Naturally more egotistical. Double yes. Naturally more intelligent though? Now you’re just telling stories xD
Also, thanks for the band-aids. Although I also would have accepted mouthwash for all the dirt my little engineer has been eating this weekend. Don’t worry though, big guy, I found you once, and put a stake through you, and I will do the same again. You won’t be disappointed with the fight I’ll put up! Hope to see you on the battlefield xD
The time is coming when you’ll abandon that server and come to Kaineng. Here at Kaineng, we win. Here at Kaineng, our siege weapons produce badges. Here at Kaineng, we don’t bleed in public to try and evoke symphathy when we’re behind.
There’s plenty of room over here for you kids that are smart enough to swallow your pride. The good thing about being on the bandwagon is that you go to bed every night as a winner.
They say idle hands are the Devil’s workshop. With all the free time I have watching you Devonaite’s retreat, I have thought up a new game to play. (see picture)
Psychological Operations! You Devonaites have no chance! This particular player was very aggressive and responsible for many deaths. He charged me and tried to kill me several times. He inspired the Devonaites to move forward.
And now he’s thinking about coming to Kaineng. Baha! Baha! Bahahahaha!!! As you can see by the picture, the Devonaites dove into their little bunny hole and never came out again.
Surely this guy whose name starts with an E and ends with an M told them that they were fighting against Mighteous. I’ll save you a spot, Sir Sprocket. Kaineng can always use a good supply runner.
(Had to repost for picture edit)
I have a story for you Mighteous.
A few days ago, me and my fellow GASM members were roaming in EB when we came upon a Kaineng zerg. They hadn’t seen us (or if they had, didn’t care), so I went in for a closer look. I saw this big guy that looked so familiar. I couldn’t place it at first, but as battle was joined, I made it my point to drop this guy. He was standing by the back of the zerg, so he was ripe to be my first target. Grenade after grenade, hit after hit, I dropped him, and with a final spike to the chest, I ended that guy. And as he laid there, then it hit me: that armor, that crest, that person. I had seen them before. On these very forums.
That person was you Mighteous. Not bad for a “supply runner.”
I can’t speak for this so-called defector your screenshot details. But I can tell you that the words Devona’s Rest will always be tied to Sir Sprocket.
And I have a new game for us to play. It’s called “Find the Sprocket.” Now I understand that I’m small, and I’m often manning siege, but there are only so many people, across so many maps. The point of this game? To find me, of course! If you truly can’t find the great battle you so lust after, come find me. Find the Sprocket. I’ll give you what you’re looking for. In fact, I have a whole Kit full of grenades with your name on them. I promise you that I’ll show you all the fury, all the strength that me and my fellow Devona’s have to offer.
I’m a little Asura with spiky hair and goggles. I fly the flag of GASM and fight for all the incredible members that inhabit the guild. And I am waiting.

Deflate nothing. This is e-war. Feelings belong on Eredon Terrace.
And to all you Kaining haters out there, I don’t care anymore. Haters gonna hate.
Less typing more fighting. This is Kaining. It has been Kaining, is Kaining, and always will be Kaining. And only true Kaining blood will understand that.
And by the way, my guild KAIN has been focusing in fergs borderland, so nice try with the propaganda. We just hate ferg less than Devona so when given a choice, we WILL hit you before ferg if you go there too when we are there. But that doesn’t make it an alliance.
I’m just pointing out what I observed over the course of this weekend in the Devona’s BL. Perhaps I am making a hasty assumption, but like I said, I’m an observant man. I am not following “feelings,” I am following the trends that I am seeing. Not what I “think” is happening. What I am seeing. Don’t get all butthurt about me pointing something out. I could be wrong, I could be right. If I’m wrong, I eat some humble pie and move on (I’m married, I’m use to being wrong xD ). If I’m right, well, that remains to be seen.
Either way, good fighting so far this weekend! Lets keep it up!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Gotta give it to you Fergs and Kains, this alliance you guys have going on makes for one tough fight. Haven’t seen a single drop of red in Kaineng Borderlands, and vice versa, so well played on successfully creating a server alliance, color me impressed. (this isn’t sarcasm, mind you, I am genuinely impressed). (And don’t feed me the “we aren’t trying it” thing, I’m an observant man xD ) Particular props to iSpy, you guys give a good fight everytime I see you guys. And we met in battle MANY time over the last 24 hours :p
I will say this: you won’t break us. We’ll fight on! Even with being spread so thin in our own borderlands, and with very little leadership stepping up to lead our ragtag groups, we’ll keep going on! Morale is low in DR today, but you can count on the fact that when backed into a corner, we’ll fight like vicious animals!
Have to say though, with all this crazy flaming going on in this thread, I must be one person that is genuinely just happy to see a kitten good fight! See you all on the battlefield!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
The range is the only bad thing about the Mortar IMO. I find myself using the mortar in WvW often, and each skill is useful and has a place. I just find myself wishing for RANGE. It’s a MORTAR. They are supposed to lob things over walls, as it stands, I can’t even lob a shell ONTO a wall.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
While I agree that siege SHOULDN’T disappear. (this breaks immersion for me. You can tell a lot about a battlefield by what it looks like after a good fight, siege would NOT disappear lol) All i can say is be sure that when you pass by some, man it, fire it once even, then go about your way. It may be a pain, but it helps.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I absolutely love the feel of this thread. Go OP! Fight with all you have! They may break your bodies, but they can never break your spirit!

A pity the orbs aren’t going to be around anymore
So many frantic battles spent defending and attacking for the sake of the prize! I will miss that, but I am sure many other great battles are to be had.

(where does that pesky Quote button keep disappearing to?)
Spif: I know that as a very daily DR WvW player, I hope we do NOT go up a tier in the near future. Do not get it confused, we DID gain a large, active WvW guild. BUT we as a server have also developed quite a bit over the last few weeks. Does this mean we are ready to take some bigger dogs? No. I think we have a ways to go before we do that. I have a lot of faith in my fellow DR players, and know that we’ll fight whoever and do it to the best of our ability, but there are still some very basic things that we all have to learn (a few pages back me and Yorgy spoke a bit about how we sometimes take things and don’t bother reinforcing them etc). I pray that we can develop into an even more powerful fighting force than we have now, but we still have a few level ups to gain before we start taking on those “bigger dogs.”
And you know, I rather like fighting you guys. We’re constantly changing tactics against one another and getting better BECAUSE of each other. I haven’t seen a week where DR and Kain HAVEN’T fought, and you know, that’s just fine with me. You guys keep it fun
But I do have one thing to add: MIGHTEOUS. I FOUND YOU YESTERDAY. We fought in EB. I could tell by your armor that it was you (the pics you post on the forums are a dead giveaway, this place has more pics of you than your Facebook, I’d bet). But again, I found you. And I killed you. Put the stake through you myself. Was that a good enough fight for you? :p
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
A lot to read here, so forgive me if this was mentioned:
The Engineer has an almost complete support spec. Elixir Gun with Elixir spec is a great way to go. Sure it’s nothing like targeted heals like you would get from a fully dedicated healer, but between Elixir R (gets people back on their feet from a downed state), and a lot of the other elixirs, you can be a serious team player.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I’m not sure where to post seeing we don’t have an actual forum. I tend to look at this thread as a home.
Do we have any people on DR who defend? I know we have some, I see it, but do we have anyone that actually sees benefit in building up and holding down a tower that will force others to come and try to take it? (meaning in an important location)
A tower is almost as vital as a supply camp. A dedicated Tower team can hold, upgrade and defend against 4 to 1 odds or greater if they are working together. A tower team can hold, upgrade and defend a supply camp as well with the right set up.
You can earn a ton of karma, badges and silver defending almost as well as running in a zerg train. The trick is digging in at the right place at the right time and a few people interested in making it work. Granted this method requires more effort than being led by the hand in zerg format, capping, and losing most in your wake. But the battles are usually very very fun. the cosr is minimal to get a tower up and running and you can make an impact on what is going on around you.
It seems we have a lot of Commanders now, is anyone preaching this to people who only listen to a blue icon?
Edit: Not a Gripe thread.
I am trying to find more like minded people to join out in the killing fields. I’m not a zerg guy. At heart, I am support and tactics.
This is one of the reasons I sometimes don’t make it to the front line until an hour or so after I log into WvW. The VERY first thing I do is make a run to everything we own and make sure Oil is built, upgrades are moving, and siege is placed. And when we successfully repel an attack, my very first order of business is to start repairs. I am often in constant communication with Zendaya or Kota to know where and when I am needed to fortify and defend, as I share your feelings on the importance of every tower and keep.
I have often flirted with the idea of starting my own Corps of Engineers dedicated to doing just this. Doesn’t have to be many people, maybe 5 or so, but it would make all the difference when the Kains or Fergs come knockin.
I hear what you’re saying, and your post was worded well. It’s not saying that we as a server are BAD at doing this, it just means we need to improve upon this particular area.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
This would be great. I can’t imagine the amount of work that would go into making turrets specific to each race though. Maybe one day…
And let’s be real, we Asura are pretty awesome as it is :p
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
You know, I spent a lot of time today and yesterday crushing Devona and Ferg groups into the ground. I have to say, since the other day when groups were walking around taking advantage of the Guardian mace block glitch, nobody has stood out.
There was a warrior from NOOB who was able to chop me up in about 2 seconds with a greatsword, but he spent all his time hiding in the back waiting for targets of opportunity.
Ferg’s has almost been nonexistant in there in EB! The best fight I had from anyone from there was from a female Guardian toon and it wasn’t a good fight because it was close. It was a good fight because they didn’t turn around and try to flee when I started to lay into them!
I’m getting tired of people fleeing from me. I’m waiting for the day when you kids that are supposed to make up the competition start to realize that there’s more to this game than racking up karma points.
I’m looking for that righteous battle! I don’t think I’m going to get it this week if the last two days are any indication.
Devona’s seems to be completely demoralized from having been crushed by smaller armies all day. They went from fully zerging us in EB, to hiding in a tower with the “outnumbered” buff.
Ferguson’s used to be aggressive when they outnumbered everybody 10 to 1, but those days seem to be long gone. Now they’re even worse than Devona’s is about scattering and fleeing. If I can crush a single zerg in a day, it’s a lucky day because they hardly seem to roam past their little side of the map.
I don’t care who on your server did what to win the week. Or who transferred out. Or who is fighting with who in the chat. What I wanna know is, which one of you are going to put up a fight?
You’d think it was fun, but crushing everybody without resistance is not fun. Kaineng is outnumbered! I don’t understand why this is happening. Oh. Yeah I do. We have me.
Love,
Mighteous, The Greatest Player In The Game
I was wondering where you’ve been for the last week. I really hope you were here, we Devona’s brought our A-Game last week, would have been a shame for you to miss a worthy battle. There were many, many glorious battles fought.
I’ve been looking for you too, Mighteous. You post more pictures of yourself on this forum than my wife does on her Facebook, so i know what you look like. And yet I haven’t seen you. Perhaps I should start looking behind zergs or on tower walls? Come on man, you’re dropping the ball. You want a fight, I’d be darn happy to give it to ya.
Hope to see you on the battlefield

Anet Seriously ?? doing this as an Asura is impossible, i just cant see my own char its ridiculous.
I even changed my own color scheme to the more ugly and visible color i could find to somehow be able to find my own char on the midle of the mob.
Can i do this alone please?
On a group full of norns and Chars its just not possible.
I also tried this (changing my colors), but to no avail. I keep losing myself in the mix of the taller characters.
I would also like to see this available individually!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I don’t get why they haze the heck out of you, Chris. My first instinct, (and maybe this is the father in me speaking) is what did you do to them to start this chain of hate I always see funneled your way? While my dealings with PRO have been mixed as well, that James Games fellow is nothing short of trouble. He gives PRO a seriously bad name. He happened to be the very first member I encountered (I told my story a few pages back), and boy did that put a bad taste in my mouth…
Don’t fall into the trap of labeling all of PRO like that though, Chris. While that little Asuran bugger James spouts his elitist trash and curses up and down at the rest of the server, there are a bunch more PRO member who are workin hard with the rest of us.
Stay strong dude, and remember that they are just words, much as they may disturb you. And keep this in mind: he does his best to make you feel pathetic, but imagine how pathetic he must be to be saying the things he is saying to you.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Hey Phizyn, just wanted to add a few observations to your post.
PRO coming to DR was a blessing. For the first time since our creation, we get to taste victory. While your guild alone did not do this, it gave the rest of us the necessary push we needed (in manpower AND morale). I enjoy the numerous victories we have been pulling off this week.
However, there are concerns. My first experience with one of your commanders was less than stellar. Jokingly, he asked me to give a gift to “my master.” Upon telling him that I’m but a poor Engineer, I was pushed off and ridiculed as being a mere peasant. Things like this rarely bother me, but more than anything, it boggled me. For weeks I had been leading people in our server, working hard. I am certainly not new to WvW, or the game in general, yet the commander and some of his other comrades wrote me off as a mere n00b. While I thought this was just a passing thing, I noticed that not just Chris Ivey (thats the name you were looking for lol), but other Commanders who had led our server (before you guys even appeared), were being belittled and made out to be less than capable.
I’m not saying this to attack PRO, I appreciate your efforts and what you’ve brought to Devona’s, but I’ve noticed that while your guild has helped bring about many victories, it’s shaken up the WvW community we had established before you guys even arrived. I am sure a lot of this is just the normal dealings that happen when something new is introduced into a community, but just be vigilant that the “we’re the saviors of your server, so listen to our every word” thing doesn’t go to your heads (I literally heard a PRO member say this the other day lol). With attitudes like that, I’d rather lose with grace than win without humility.
Again, it’s nice to have you and your guild along for this crazy ride. I just hope we can do away with the elitist attitudes I’ve been seeing, and all work together.

So much to read. Skimmed a few posts but I’ll weigh in a bit:
I use the Rifle. It is not my primary source of damage though. I usually open with spamming my toolbelt skills, then Net Shot, switch to Grenades, spam them to death. If they still live, switch back to rifle, hit Overcharged Shot, Net Shot, wash, rinse, and repeat.
The point of this? I think that the Engineer’s Rifle isn’t meant to be played as a primary source of damage. Sure Blunderbuss is great, and Jump Shot is a HOUSE, but the rifle really shines when used for its control skills. Couple a rifle with Grenade Kit, or Bomb Kit, and you have “such synergy” (as my Asura would say).
I played with pistols for about the first 50 levels of being an engineer. I wasn’t very impressed. I feel like they need something… some of the skills miss, and they just feel… clunky. I am sure they do very well with condition based builds, but I just couldn’t get on board with them. (I almost feel like a condition based Engineer should just be running the Elixir Gun, as it is a wonderful kit that I rarely see my fellow engineers using).
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Let’s make it a race!
Signed, a Kit Swapping Engineer with Perma Swiftness.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
The only thing I can say looks like it is missing is mobility. I’d drop the ten points out of inventions and drop it into tools to unlock the Kit Swapping ability (you only need to equip the med kit if you don’t like kits, as you can keep swapping med kits to gain infinite swiftness, and the Heal skills is pretty darn good). Our mobility is amazing compared to a lot of classes, and can get you into, and out of, battle in a hurry if you need to. And it would synergize well with Invigorating Speed. Other than that, the only thing I can see to change is Rifled Barrels for Hair Trigger. Getting your pistol skills to recharge faster means you dish out more conditions more frequently, which helps boost your damage output. If you really want to keep the Rifled Barrels, dropping Infused Precision would be a good idea (especially if you go the Kit Swapping route where you can get swiftness at the click of a button anyway)
Good luck!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
You’re going to be hard-pressed to find a class that does ALL of what you listed. The elementalist fits every criteria you listed except the tanky part. Warriors are the next closest class to Guardian in similarity (heavily armored melee class). The Engineer fits quite a few of those criteria as well. In the end, just go with the class you think looks the most fun.
For the record though, I leveled a Guardian to 80, then started an Engineer and had a blast.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
PRO has moved to Devonas Reach. We have about 8 commanders, and a large player base. Good luck to everyone.
Looks good so far!
Good to have you aboard! I look forward to fighting with you guys!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
To the OP: I mentioned earlier that i was running a build similar to yours. This was true for the most part, but I only ran one meditation (Smite Condition), and was geared a bit more defensively. Today I set out to change this. I geared up with a bit more precision/toughness/crit dmg boosting items, and pulled Save Yourselves off my bar and put in Judge’s Intervention. Then dipped into WvW. And this happened:
It started RAINING Badges of Honor
Your video inspired me to give my build the extra boost it needed. I salute you, OP. My WvW experience just got all the better.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Fantastic video! My guardian runs a similar setup, but admittedly you use it a bit better than I. Keep up the good work, OP, greatly enjoyed this video.

“A big cheer for Fubuki…” uuummm dude…Fubuki quit posting a while back when the server was in last place…I’ll post the reasons why he said he quit posting in the screen shot off his website below. Why not cheer for the people who were actually active and got guilds to transfer from other servers? Oh maybe…because some of us aren’t as “gentlemanly” in our approach….as others. lol
I think someone is jealous. Man this thread was lookin good until you showed up. You’re more of a buzzkill than Buzz Killington.
Moving on. I’m with ya OP! Congrats to Kaineng for their journey upwards! The last week was downright crazy in our matchup, and I look forward to another week of it!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Definitely need more love for Engineers. Grenades are absurd during sieges and are the best long range AoE attacks you can get from any profession.
We have an ENTIRE kit dedicated to AoE skills. And it includes 4 different conditions (vulnerability and burning if you are specced makes 6), and not to mention combo fields! Add in Static Discharge and your zerg gets an AOE machine with the range of a Ranger. Why this class gets so little love in the “best of WvW” threads is just baffling.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I’m quite shocked that Engineers don’t make this list. I may be biased as I play an Engineer, but the sheer utility that they bring to the group is staggering.
Have a buddy (or your favorite Guardian) who has a lackluster ranged weapon? We have a Mortar for that (seriously, this Elite is 10 times better than people give it credit for). Need a perimeter established, or a choke point held when that enemy zerg comes knockin? We have Grenades for that problem too! And the Elixir Gun. Oh the shenanigans when you want to support your favorite zerg! Again, I’m biased as it’s a class that I LOVE and have a setup for almost any challenge I may meet in WvW. But IMHO a well played Engineer can make a huge difference in a battle.
That being said: Mesmer is fantastic. Ele is friekin great, and Warriors are the backbone of any good group!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I wana just toss this out to the OP: if you are looking for a versatile WvW class, Engineer offers a lot as well. We’re walking toolboxes and can put out some very decent DPS.
But from what you had listed above: Mesmers are the single most annoying class to deal with in WvW (thief ranks up there too, but mesmers drive me nutty!). Rangers are as everyone has said: a great class that offers a lot, and has some great single target dps. Good luck and hope to see you in WvW one day!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I keep having to say this to people from Kaineng, and I don’t get why: have some class. We are all happy to see the once-underdog win (I sincerely was happy to see your server make such a huge surge in the last week, but between the OP and a certain “mighty” Kain player, I’m surprised there is enough room in kaineng for anyone else when those inflated egos are taking up so much space), but things like this belittle that victory, and make you look like you guys lack ANY humility what-so-ever. You couldn’t wait until tomorrow to post this?
And if things continue as they are, it looks like the Fergs and us DRs are going to get to know each other real well over the next week or so, I look forward to it!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
lol wow Mighteous. Just wow. I know your server is doing quite well (had some AMAZING battles against you guys last night), but when you resort to likening us DRs to scared school children or babies with candy, that’s a new low, even for you. I changed my mind from an earlier post, I don’t care for you much. You talk a lot and say very little.
To the rest of Kaineng. Last night was great. Saw you guys in the Eternal Battlegrounds and had some fights that the bards could sing about. Here’s hoping the next few days are as fun as last night was.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Oh I’m not being a poor sport or wishing anything bad upon them. But holy crap the sheer amount of threads I see on the WvW forums about their accomplishments is crazy. And let us re-iterate, they are no longer the underdog. Their numbers have exceeded those of us at Devona’s, and seem to rival the Fergs. I find it thrilling to fight them and the Fergs this week, but I just find all the saber rattling tasteless. Perhaps this is just me. Either way, I said in my first post that what they are doing now is impressive, and i find the challenge refreshing.
Either way, best of luck to you guys, and see you on the field of battle.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I gotta say, from a Devona’s Rest player, this is impressive to see.
But I speak for many people in our match-up when i say: quit announcing your accomplishments and let them speak for themselves. We on Devona’s have had many great victories as we’ve finally found some footing in the last few weeks, but you will rarely, if ever, see a post saying how great we are when we are in the last bracket. Everyone loves an underdog, but no one likes one without humility.
I am not trying to be a troll or belittle the accomplishments of a server that spent so long in the shadow of larger servers, but do your entire server a favor and have some class.
Tales are never told by those who do heroic deeds, but by those who witness them.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I run Tool Kit (seriously, throw wrench is GOOD, and Gear Shield is great in a pinch), and the Grenade Kit, while toting a rifle. I use my kits for about 80% of my fights.
Would you care to elaborate a little bit more how Tool Kit works? I tried a little bit in PvP mode and decided I would never touch it… I have like 130 or 140 unspent skill points…
As someone elaborated above, the 20 second boomerang is fantastic. Its powerful and when coupled with Static Discharge, is pretty dang good. I RARELY use the kit itself, but when I’m running for a tower or trying to escape to heal, Gear Shield is a lifesaver. And the cripple skill is great for when I’m running for my little Asuran life.
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
Definitely have to agree with this. In terms of some of our last match-ups, this has been an incredibly even, and fun week.
A good example of this: was in the FC Borderlands last night, and was running with a small zerg taking some camps. The Fergs discovered us at the southern most camp (forget the name atm), at the same time, a group of Kaineng came up on us as well. Probably fought over that camp for a good 15 minutes. Held the Fergs on the bridge, and skirmished with the Kaineng group. After all was said and done, the Ferg group finally overtook us (we were no longer able to keep them isolated to the bridge), and they overran us. Point of all this? It was a fantastic fight, and one that, eventhough I ended up a very dead Asura, I will still remember as a great battle.
I look forward to more great battles!
And my Alter-Ego- Kyoryu Gold, Mesmer, Thundering Hero, wielder of the Legendary Meteorlogicus!
I always looked at being an Asura as being a member of a hyper intelligent race of children. They have no qualms about doing whatever is needed to complete an experiment, and often, when you find an Asura, you also find yourself bailing them out of some mess they have made. (Seriously, have you ever met an Asura in the world who didn’t need help with an experiment, or one that has gone wrong?)
This is all fine by me though. I’m an Asura. I like to think about actions first, consequences later. That suits me just fine :p

28 here. I didn’t play the first Guild Wars, but a friend convinced me to try this, and I haven’t looked back.

Gotta love being the Jack of All Trades.
My favorite aspect though: Kit Swapping. Endless swiftness! Makes my little Asura look like I’ve had a whole pot of coffee before 8 am.

I run Tool Kit (seriously, throw wrench is GOOD, and Gear Shield is great in a pinch), and the Grenade Kit, while toting a rifle. I use my kits for about 80% of my fights. While my build IS worked around kit swapping and Static Discharge, kits are just the way I play. I couldn’t get on board with the P/P or P/S combo, I feel like the pistol is a clunky weapon (this may just be personal preference as I can really get on board with some of the rifles abilities).
Every engi is different (thats the beauty of the class) but I feel like an Engi without a kit is like Chuck Norris without his beard. :p

Let me be clear: we Devona’s don’t care where he came from. I stated earlier on that I’m not sure what to say about our “new commander,” but my mind is open. But I feel I need to point this out:
Kaineng was actively recruiting people from other servers to come help the “underdog.” This happened. It’s well known amongst us that you guys had an influx of players from other servers. And by your own logic, as they left their server for yours, they were “traitors/betrayers” to their server as well. What I’m trying to say is, you want to sling accusations and thump your chests when it suits you. You point a finger at one of your own who went to another server, when you fight beside those that did the same thing.
Have some class. Wish him luck. Tell him you hope to see him on the battlefield. Revel in victory when you kill him and he lies dead at your feet. But pointing someone out who was once one of your own is just bad form. I entered this conversation thinking that the OP was being kind of forward with the title of the thread, but the more I read, the more I realize that he may just be close to the truth. Prove me wrong in this assessment, Kains, please.
And Mighteous. I like you. I don’t want to. But for some strange reason, I just do. May we one day meet in battle, I look forward to it.

Well, this was an interesting read.
And Sumwun, you stated the problem with Devona’s Rest perfectly. We defeat ourselves. It’s been proven that when we DRs decide to get our heads out of the sand and start giving our enemies a run, we do just that, and we do it well. (Who are you, btw, Sumwun? I run with Zen Ashwood quite often, and I too can attest to the fact that he’s one of the best commanders around.)
As for this Commander from Kaineng and his guild. I know who we’re speaking of here, I fought with him last night, and well, I’m not sure what to think yet (he did lead me to my untimely demise a few times, but despite that I’m still trying to give the guy a fair chance). But hey, time will tell.

She hits like a truck, so you gotta kite her until the buff wears off. Getting close is just crazy unless you’re a class that can handle it. Stuns, roots, slows etc work wonders on her when she has the buff. (i.e. as an engineer, i sub in a net turret and use my rifle to keep her under control if we happen to be attacking a camp while the buff is on, giving me 3 available roots. Keeps her in place and lets the ranged classes safely hit her with conditions etc without fear of her clubbing them over the skull).

Haven’t seen anyone from Devona’s Rest post here yet, so definetely have to give a mention to RED’s Moozilla and KC’s Zendaya Ashwood. Both fantastic leaders who I’d follow into battle anytime, anywhere.

If someone is really doing this (and I’m not deluding myself, I know it happens), then they are sad indeed. I will say this though: it’s a lot like war, your enemy WILL gain intel on you, one way or another, so it just adds yet another dimension to WvW, and something different to overcome. Is it irritating though? Yup.
