Hi. I’ve been playing GW2 for a few months, and have played other MMOs and online games, but am shy every time about potentially starting to play with people I don’t know IRL.
Name: Neferteri
Main Character: Morrigan Thalie – Sylvari Necromancer
Current Server: Darkhaven
Interested Activities: Dungeons, occasional PvP, occasional WvW, group DEs, pretty much everything else I do solo (I still have a few dungeons to do in story mode)
Active: Most evenings, some afternoons
Additional Comments: Introvert and like quiet time alone, but sometimes like to participate in more group things. Happy to help people. May unexpectedly disappear for a few days at time, but not often.
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project, Y/N?: Is it possible to join The Legion of Honour on a token character, just so that people can tell if I’m online and ping me if they need a person for something? I have reasons for wanting to keep the characters I regularly play in my main guild.
This may be a crazy suggestion, but for people who apparently have had their lives ruined because they may miss out on a one-time-only event… Why not just once stay up late or get up early? Even if napping before/after, stay for half an hour or an hour. This won’t apply to people at work at the time, but for those complaining that it might be 9pm or 6am or something outside of work hours. It’s just a game, and I’d like to think that most people can deal with missing something here or there, but if it’s absolutely imperative that you get in on this, wouldn’t one night of ruined sleep be okay? It’s not like this is going to happen often. Especially as Matthew mentioned that it may be worth considering having future events at different times for different time zones.
When choosing hair colour for an asura female at character creation, at least a couple of the colours are incorrectly labelled. Labeled as “light pink” is actually more a silver-gray, and the one labelled “light yellow” is distinctly light pink.
Is player privacy not an issue to ANet? (invisible mode, cross-guild privacy, friend consent)
Posted by: Neferteri.7342
What’s the point of offering an invisibility option if it doesn’t do anything to make you invisible?
It’s not about needing to hide. Sometimes, for example, you’re down, and just want to log on and kill a bunch of stuff. You just don’t want to deal with whispers from others, and not because you have something shameful to hide, but it’s nobody’s business to know what you’re up to when you want time alone.
When people question what somebody has to hide, I think how I don’t have anything at all illegal in my home, but that doesn’t mean I’d be happy with the police doing a search of my place every day. Or ever, without a really good reason and a warrant. Just because someone else may be okay with opening their life doesn’t mean that mine is up for inspection.
As for people who don’t know you being able to track you, that could very easily be used for icky reasons, including stalking.
This is a problem I’ve had every day since starting to play the game, but hadn’t gotten around to posting it. Daily achievements start to reset at 8pm ET, but don’t finish until 8:20pm. Generally 2 of them will reset, another one around 8:10, and the last part of the four at 8:20.
I can’t think of any reason why they should be staggered, so assume this is a bug.
I have not been able to get the basic or fine transmutation stones to work for a couple of weeks now. I have tried on different characters, with different pieces of armor. I will try unequipping, but even so, I would classify this as a bug.
You’ll want to put your server, as the event worked yesterday on Darkhaven. (However, I still cannot get the catapult to work to get to the vista.)
You may have 12 of the rune in your items, but since you cannot actually equip more than 6 of them at a time, it would be impossible to be eligible for the benefits, even if runes do stack.
I would also love to see a physical authenticator that I could purchase. I do not have a cell phone, and was hoping you’d offer authentication.
Although I would prefer a separate unit that I could put on a keychain, a less ideal solution is if there is anything that would work on a Blackberry Playbook, but I’m not really holding out hope for that.
Maybe it depends on the browser? Both Firefox and Chrome will allow autofill for my forum/account login here.
I get something similar sometimes, only it goes to the page past the last page, rather than where I left off.
Story quest audio - NPCs start saying next line before previous one is finished
Posted by: Neferteri.7342
Often enough to be noticeable and annoying, a NPC in the story quests will start on their next line before finishing the previous one. They’ll start when there are a few words left, according to the text, meaning the audio on its own doesn’t make sense, and I have to read what’s going on to follow the story.
A recent example for me today was during The Battle of Claw Island, Trahearne did this several times. One of the examples happened for the text shown in the attached screenshot.
Is it possible that those offers are from before it was fixed? I imagine some people put in offers and then leave it or forget.
I got this issue as well, today.
It would be great to have some noticeable indication on the screen that you’re in combat. Obviously I can tell if something is hitting me, but I can’t tell if something aggroed onto me while running through a zone. Which is only really a problem because I don’t want to be a jerk and unintentionally train stuff onto somebody, not realising I should stop and help, or at least warn them.
A search doesn’t find this, but maybe I did a bad search.
I cannot break stacks within the guild bank by pressing Alt while dragging the item. I can split a stack in my inventory and in my personal bank, but to take a partial stack from the guild bank, I have to bring it to my inventory, split it there, and return the remainder. Our guild leader has complained of the same.
Similarly, I cannot drag an item onto a stack of the same within the guild bank. Again, I have to pull it out of the bank, combine the stacks, and return it.
Is this intended for bank tracking purposes, or a bug?
Go to your options. There’s one for picking a new target, turn that off. At least for when the monster dies.
Lower damage on water is not a bug, particularly before trait spending. Even the tooltips in game for each attunement says that fire and air are damage attunements, water is a support and healing attunement, and earth is a DoT and defensive attunement. Fire and air are by design supposed to do more damage before trait spending. Honest, mouse over them in game and read the tooltips.
Bowl of Bean Salad shows a wrench icon both in a mouseover, and when you consume it. However, unlike other wrench consumables, it will overwrite or get overwritten by normal food.
Those may be “extremely” thick in comparison to some other options, but as an absolute description, no way. I hope that Charlie is being sarcastic about the “any thicker” comment.
Yes, there will be some professions that don’t really have a choice underwater for the elite.
I would hope that the combat log wouldn’t show healing as default, as it could get so incredibly spammy, but it’d be nice to have as an option. I don’t know how to show it either, so looking forward to seeing if somebody has an answer.
I also get this problem with never yelling “Yarr,” and this also explains the male voice that my female elementalist sometimes hears.
Yes, dyes are supposed to be different colours, slightly, depending on whether used on cloth, leather, or metal. There are sites, including a part of the official wiki, which show the differences.
But it sounds strange that it’s different on the same character, since you’re theoretically wearing the same material for each piece.
It was a little disappointing, upon leveling on my first alt after playing my Norn main for so long, for her to not declare something self-affirming upon leveling, discovering new land, getting an achievement, or anything else.
From http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upgrade_component:
Applying an upgrade to equipped item causes that item to become soulbound.
So looks like it doen’t matter whether the rune is soulbound or not, it’ll make your item soulbound.
I loved this game and ANet so much more for having same-sex couples. And hope that in the future there will be more, and maybe even a couple in other races?
The couple being discussed at the beginning do not feel forced at all, or in your face. They’re not having intercourse on front of you, or sloppily making out. They’re not declaring, “Oh, my male lover…” so and so. They’re just in love. They made me feel good about this race. The reason it was noticeable to me is that so many online games have general chats and forums that are filled with hate and homophobia. So finding somebody standing up to this is so wonderful.
And how delighted I am to be in the official forums for a game and see so many recognise that even if you don’t like it for yourself, it’s fine to accept that this behaviour exists! It’s part of making a game more inclusive. GW2 has done well compared to a lot of games in making this more inclusive and comfortable for women. I might argue too that while straight men stereotypically like f/f couples, there are plenty of straight women who quite like m/m couples. Even then just being in love and holding hands.
Love and love, and it’s not NSFW love. If they’re emotional beings, not even video game characters should be closeted so that close-minded people can pretend they don’t exist.
Given their history and lifestyle, I don’t know why we can’t make female Norn who are just as tall and big as the male Norn.
I made sure to put the cuts on my Norn’s face. What actually makes me sad is to see a female Norn who has such a tiny waist that she looks like she could be broken in half by the first monster she comes across. And that the muscle definition is optional. For the plants, I can see that. But Norn are strong warriors. And even as one with light armor, it made me sad to see that the default starting armor included a lacy garter. (But was great incentive to level quickly and find more appropriate armor.) For faces, I found a serious looking face. Still attractive, but not prissy.
Elementalists don’t get the ability to switch weapons during combat. Not a bug.
But the ability to change attunements gives 4 sets of weapon skills, which should make up for that.
This information is in the official wiki.

It may be a bug, but I find all the summonables at times attack without me attacking. It’s actually really annoying when you didn’t want to go after certain mobs at the time.
Some vistas are ruining the game for me. Am I alone? Please heed my call.

I love the vistas, and am actually disappointed in the ones that are far too easy to reach. There’s a balance between easy and difficult ones, and achievements and map completion is a totally optional aspect of the game.
Definitely not always on snow. Examples with different terrain, same spell.
Server: Darkhaven
Guild: Monkeys Without Pants (MWP)
On the “Roster” tab, every time I set my column filter to check off “Achievement Points.” Every time I log in, it has reset to not include that column. It has been like this since I started playing the game.
The worst part is when it re-aggros onto you almost immediately. I have that happen fairly often.
[Elementalist] Swapping into Air attunement causes character to auto attack nearest mob
Posted by: Neferteri.7342
I used to have this issue. But since I changed my options, it hasn’t happened again. There’s an option that’s checked by default, when you cast a spell, it’ll target something automatically for you. Turn that off, and it solved the issue for me.
Skill Point: "Carnie Jeb" is bugged *NPC NOT SPAWNED* QUEENSDALE ~ SHIRE OF BEETLETUN
Posted by: Neferteri.7342
Same issue on Darkhaven. Jeb is missing.
Most of these have been mentioned, but putting what I’d like to see together in one spot:
- Be able to return items bought with Karma within the first couple of minutes, as long as not used. For accidental buys.
- Be able to choose text colours for different channels. Depending on your most-used channels, it’d be nice to have more differentiation.
- Option to have a sound when friends/guild members log in or out. As well as maybe de-coupling the message from system messages, which can be so noisy with looting that it’s so easy to miss a friend coming on. (Another option for that is some kind of toast window, that pops up, if you enable the option for that kind of indication.)
- Filtering for heavy/medium/light armor types in the TP.
- If you were to implement an inspect option, please make sure that there’s some kind of indicator, like an asterisk, if the item has been transmuted. So that others don’t look for the same item based on name, and be surprised at either the look or stats.
- Auto-loot in WvWvW would be nice, especially when there’s a lot going on, and a lot of movement.
- Autoblock reported spammers.
- More body types for female characters, not just super-duper skinny ranging out to kinda-normal looking.
- Be able to display titles. Make sure that it’s done in such a way as to distinguish the title from people who build a title into their regular name.
- It would be nice either to have a collection of macros one could make, even just for text, or to have commonly used phrases bound to certain keys, maybe the numpad. This would be useful particularly in PvP or WvW, when you don’t necessarily have time to type out certain instructions.
- Don’t list things as options on the TP that cannot be listed on the TP. Example: As far as I can tell, salvage kits are accountbound even before you use them. Why is there a “Tools” category that lists all the kits, but with zero availablity?

I don’t mind the tax, but wish the selling tax were as obvious as the listing tax. Blatantly displaying the listing tax implies that costs are shown, and that there’s no need to look into other costs. Once somebody knows about it, they can calculate it easily enough, but at least put one of those pop-up hints the first time you list something!
It worked for me after this past patch. However, as a trade-off, I was constantly spammed with “That content has been temporarily disabled. Please try again later.”
Somebody in another thread said that this is a cosmetic bug associated with including runes in your SPvP gear. If that’s the case for you, too, you might want to specify that to make it easier to track down the issue.
It may be server-specific; it worked for my on Darkhaven last night.
I get this too, where the mobs suddenly start being invulnerable, which is especially annoying for veteran and champions, particularly when they aggro onto you as soon as they heal, since I generally stay right near their spawn spot.
Usually the graphic for the Flame Burst floor effect is fine, but sometimes, I get a discoloured square on the ground. I’ve only noticed it on snow, but can’t promise that it doesn’t happen elsewhere. Screenshot attached of an example from today.
I get this probably at least 7-10 times per day.
Edit: Lava Font, as Khisanth.2948 corrected.

I’ve been getting it too, although the content is actually working. It started after the most recent patch, and here’s an example from Forging the Pact. If you notice the chat window, it’s happening constantly.
You don’t know that they’re innocent.
