I think the mesmer/great sword combination is a connection to the lore of Tyria from GW1 where the mesmers were stage actors. The great sword being a prop.

Stick with mes for a while and your skills and attributes will all start making more sense. You will grow with your character.

Try a signet build based on written in stone.

Guild halls with invitational GvG options, with team sizes of 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, 8v8, etc.

This week has been very enjoyable for me. I hope the matchup persists after reset.

Not a duel we agreed on, just a random encounter. Neither an ambush as he could clearly see me approach. It’s just not my style to finish someone off in such a situation, although i guess most people do.

I appreciate your sportsmanship. Some people won’t. Keep coming back for more and I’m sure you will find people you enjoy fighting.

To the Asura warrior i just fought in the NE of our BL, if an opponent does not kill you when downed you should not get up to attack again – especially not while using Vengeance, makes you drop dead after a few seconds. You could have healed and walked away. GoM not used to 1 vs 1 ?

It has been a while since the last one. I checked 6 pages back.

The game is nearly a year old and there is still no reward for dolyak escorts except the gold/silver/bronze icon that pops up when you finish. Since the game already tracks our level of involvment, it shouldn’t be too hard to come up with an appropriate reward. Keep it modest and people will be less likely to abuse the system.

For example:
gold -> 1 silver coin + 5 wxp
silver -> 50 copper coins
bronze -> 25 copper coins

With a new matchup coming, may we all have the good fortune to be against servers with similar wvw populations.

FC has improved a lot in the last four weeks. Keep on growing guys.

AR: I hope you get over the loss of players quickly.

If it is possible, performance data should be deleted during this time period to avoid penalizing servers that have had to play while handicapped.

Today I got onto teamspeak and spent around an hour with a commander and his squad. I got one badge. Not only that, it was incredibly boring with him saying “Stack on me…moving out 1,2,3”, then off to some tower to be killed by the opposing zerg. I can’t even pretend that my presence matters. I can safely say that were I not there, nothing would have changed, and no outcome would have been different.

So far, the quickest way for me to get badges has still been the jumping puzzle. This is the second time I’ve gotten onto teamspeak with a zerg and though I got more badges the first time, it was just as boring.

I don’t know the way around this. I mean I know it’s “World vs World”, so there’s gonna be big battles. But…dammit it’s boring as hell. And if you’re in a smaller zerg, you just get eaten up by bigger ones and don’t even have time to collect your loot bags.

I’m on EU server Seafarer’s Rest.

Maybe I can solo supply camps. I’ve done that too. But I hardly get any badge drops from veterans. And I can’t solo a tower or a keep. And there’s no guarantee that the lord will drop a badge either. It’s just too slow.

So is mindless zerging the only way people get their badges? With jumping puzzles I’ve accumulated around 450 badges for my gift of battle. I’d have liked to earn them some other way. I want to like WvW but no matter how many times I’ve tried, there’s just nothing for me to do.

So after I get my gift of battle (should be any day now), what reason do we have to come back?

Try zerg diving. Its fun, you get lots of loot bags and you help your team by distracting the enemy. Be prepared to die a lot.

Roll one of each, and be willing to mix it up with your builds. Take the time to get good with each. I do a rifle warrior and have lots of fun with him, but it tends to be one target at a time. So, ele might bring in a lot more BoH.

+1 for a native linux GW2 client. I would even buy a second account.

Encourage the spectators to be in their town clothes. Then they won’t have auto-attack accidents, and even the new players will be able to see that its something different.

Despite seemingly having the lowest WvW population of the 3 servers GoM are night capping, taking over the map while there aren’t many ET or FC online to defend, we need to come up with a counter strategy to this if possible, as all our peak time effort is being overshadowed by a small GoM force late at night.

Please note this is not a kitten complaint about this tactic, just a shout out to our people that we need to counter it. I don’t mean this as an insult to GoM.

GoM has a large number of Australian and New Zealand based players. We have no business telling them when they may play the game. It’s no insult to me. It’s just the way player distribution worked out. I recommend recruiting in Lions Arch at the relevant times to build up your own AU/NZ contingent.

I don’t want to give the impression I don’t like AGG, I have nothing against them at all in any form or fashion. I just like the impossible fight. I loved the 15 v 30 to 50+ odds we use to face from October through to February.

Winning the fights we engaged in were what mattered to me, not overall winning (as there was no chance of that). I don’t like the guaranteed win, and that is where I see ET going. I might be right or wrong in that perspective and I’m sure others will disagree about the ‘guaranteed’ part. However, when I play…at the times I can play…there is no chance of losing; we just field way too many people.

I’m not welcome at GoM, I have been told so. That leaves FC and since they are the bottom tier server in tier 8 that would make it just right for me. Again, nothing against any guild…I just want a challenge, but the times I can play its just face-roll easy, not due to skill per se, just numbers fielded.

In 10 years I have not liked any guild I have ever been in. In fact for years I would never even join guilds. TAC was the first guild and group of people I felt at home among. I will surely miss them.

You seem well liked on your server. I recommend that you stay at least another week to see how the new match-up works out. It looks to me like it will be a lot of fun in T8 for a while.

As far as GoM goes, I think you would be OK here. I have not been rudely treated by any of my server mates. I suspect that, if your command style would make you unwelcome at GoM, you would probably end up unwelcome anywhere. I’m sure there are many servers that would welcome you. Anyway, good luck with your search, and good luck in battle.
