Changing to 90 would make a hard to run game unplayable. Every time you raise the min specs you lose a customer base.

Why would you want to forcibly change the FoV for everyone? Why not instead introduce options so players can choose? If I understand your point correctly, should all high quality/appearance options be removed from the game then as well?

I do not think the game provides a field of view of 75 under 16×10 resolutions, e.g. 1920×1600. The game seems to calculate the FOV based on the aspect ratio of the resolution, which is indicated by resizing vertically while in windowed mode.

Maybe this could be looked at in order to improve the experience for players with the worst problems?

Are the money and experience portions of the reward depending on character level?

I completed the monthly on my level 80 main, but did some contribution to the achievement on a new alt, which got to level 16 before finishing the achievement on the main. The achievement is account wide, but maybe money and experience are based on the levels of contributing characters?

I just received 20 mystic coins, 64 copper and 7620 experience for the monthly achievement.

Are the money and experience a bug? As far as I remember we get about 5 silver and also 7k experience for the daily. So I would expect the monthly to reward more money and experience, not less or equal than the daily.

Last month there was an issue with the achievement completion, maybe this is another bug. What were the rewards from the August achievement?

Since someone linked it in the Elementalist forums 1 or 2 weeks back, I frequently enjoy the stream of one of your fellow team colleagues, Phantaram. So I will definitely check out yours as well!
Even though I do not have any business in sPvP at all, it is fantastic to watch very competent players and teams at work.

It seems the extreme network latency is back on Gunnar’s Hold. Skill activations and interacting with NPCs or gathering has a delay of 10 seconds or more.

I’m connecting via Telekom in Germany. Should I do another -diag and post it again? Is anything even being done at all for players posting in this topic?

EDIT: Character is in Queensdale at Beetletun Farms on the overflow.

Always be mindful of your surroundings. If you see a train incoming at your location, stop attacking immediately and wait until the danger is over. This does not always work but should help to at least reduce the number of accidents a little.

We have helicopters, tanks, ships, submarines, air ships, huge armored transports, and what not, but no personal vehicles or mounts? The Heroes of Tyria being stuck with running around like Forest Gump can be quite the immersion breaker to be honest.

Getting first set of exotics... what stats should I focus on?

I went for Power, Precision, Vitality and Toughness:

  • exotic Valkyrie armor
  • masterwork Knight jewelry
  • exotic Berserker weapons

Feels nice in mostly open world PvE and occasional WvW. With a build like: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#Mcs9wGaaxcRcVVRq
I often swap arcane traits together with weapons between Staff, Scepter/Dagger and Dagger/Dagger.
I don’t really utilize 20 in Air very well in practice, but as I don’t do many dungeons for now I don’t really need to respec. Otherwise I would invest those points rather in Water.

The LFG system could be made more useful with the following additions:

  • Make it cross map.
  • Let players add a comment so others know what everyone is LFG for.
  • Provide predefined names of activities for players to select what they are LFG for. E.g.: name of the dungeon, dungeon mode (story / explorable), path in the explorable.
  • Let players filter the LFG list by comment/activity.
  • And most importantly, promote the LFG system to the players. We already receive a mail for each new dungeon. Add tutorial hints to introduce players to the LFG system when reaching the corresponding levels. Maybe even add similar tutorial hints when players encounter their first group event.

A useful and popular LFG system would help me a lot to get to know more players, and then join a guild or two with those I enjoy playing with.
When looking at two different systems of the game, the trading post and the LFG system, I can easily identify one of them in need for some more features, in order to improve the social experience for players in the game.

To me, the features I listed should be most basic pillars of any LFG system in any MMO ever built, from Ultima Online to Guild Wars 2. So I did not want to add explanations about why I find it necessary to each feature, but keep the list short and simple.

If you are having trouble finding groups for dungeons, you can use our LFG system.

The system could be made more useful with the following additions:

  • make it cross map

CTRL left, CTRL right and ALT modifiers work as well for keybinds. The only binds I’m missing are mouse wheel up and down.

New players avoid Elementalist.

That’s 80 no gear, weapon, etc..naked.

Please re-check those numbers. I just went to the Mists with my Ele completely naked and all base attributes (power, precision, toughness, vitality) show as 916.
Attack and armor are 916 too, crit. chance 4% and health 10805.

EDIT, Naked Necro: 997, 916, 1216, 1016, 997, 4%, 1216, 19372
EDIT2, Naked Thief: 1216, 1116, 1116, 972, 1216, 14%, 1116, 11365

EDIT3: Weird to see so much difference in base stats between the professions. Even when the difference is smaller with my numbers. Did you have boons or forgot to take off a weapon or amulet, or why do they seem so off?

EDIT4:

Doh! I still had traits points allocated on the Thief and Necro. Without, all 3 have equal base attributes, only health is different: Necro = 18372, Thief/Ele= 10805. Makes much more sense now.

@mcavellero.8153: I still can’t make sense of your numbers though. As any naked profession can only add a maximum of 300 to any base attribute by spending 30 points in a trait line.

Are elementalists strong/viable in PvE?

As far as I remember from beta, all ranged focused professions are intentionally more squishy and do less damage, compared to melee focused classes. This is to compensate for melee being forced to be closer to mobs and as such more subject of being mauled on, especially in WvW zergs and against hard hitting PvE event bosses.

But in practice, this creates the situation that melee seems to be able to just farm away mobs in no time with no effort in simple 1v1 PvE. Compared to Elementalist, using Daggers does not seem to close this gap substantially enough either. My experience is mostly based on what I see in the higher level zones like Orr and maybe 10-15 levels lower.

I think they should just remove the different armor classes, and all professions already have different ranged options anyway. Together with removing the trinity, wouldn’t this make sense in order to have a better time balancing the professions?

More straight on topic: It is fun enough or me, as long as I don’t pay too much attention to how fast and effortless other professions annihilate stuff in PvE.

Gunnar’s Hold also reporting in gameplay affecting high network latency. Delays on skills and NPC movement feels like 1-3 seconds.

EDIT: Getting worse now, delays in the range of 10 seconds and more.

I think the tagging system ruins Dynamic Events

Elementalists can just stand back and spam huge AoEs to tag all the mobs […]
It’s back to the same old MMO style, where you cringe whenever an Elementalist joins the DE because you know it will be harder to get loot and money now.

Our AoEs have either long cooldowns or delays, or tick way too slow for this situation. Therefore I barely get any loot at all from crowded DEs as Elementalist. Unless I change my playstyle to something extremely twitchy and completely unfun. At the same time I seem to have no problems getting gold contribution every single time in the same events. Also, the amount of XP and Karma I receive (~17k/378) for an event indicates that I don’t fall victim to those rumored anti botting measures.

Compared to veterans, which seem to live long enough, normal mobs seem to die in half a second once they go vulnerable. Something must be simply off with the scaling.

I also noticed normal mobs in crowded events in Orr seem to go as high as level 84. Which is funny as they usually have no time at all to attack anyone, but if they do players are getting one or two shot. This seems not fun at all. Why don’t they get their health tuned up a lot and their level tuned down a little? I think this would fit the purpose of making events fun much better.

Switching attunements should not auto-attack the closest mob

The problem occurs anywhere all the time and is straight forward to reproduce in the mists:

- happens for me every time when switching to air, from any other element
- without any trait points spent
- with any weapon equipped
- when in weapon range of any attack-able mob, e.g. reproduce at a “training dummy” in the mists

Right now when testing with dagger/dagger, it even fired the auto-attack of the source element, then immediately after the air auto-attack.

/bugged it a while a go

EDIT: Auto-targeting has to be on for it I believe.

Story Quests: How do I solo 10 mobs?

For your specific story quest and the sword/shields spawning on you i used the following set up.

Thats for ele, now if you bring a warrior buddy to help just stand there while he charges then uses 100 blades and continue on your way.

heavy lags. We are all playing from South/West Germany. I created a -diag file and will attach it to this post.

Same problem here from northern Germany.

World: Gunnar’s Hold
Maps: Cursed Shore, WvW Borderlands

The lag feels very similar to what I experienced occasionally during headstart:
Skills, NPC and other player movement and actions are delayed for up to 10-15 seconds. It seems to come in waves.

Twice I got disconnected with error: 7:11:3:189:101
Once I logged in and stuck on the loading screen for Cursed Shore for ages until I got dumped back to character select.

EDIT: Also interacting with merchant NPCs shows a large delay when e.g. I double click an item on the sell tab.

EDIT2: I have port forwarding configured for 80, 443, 6112 and 6600, since a disconnect problem during Beta Weekend 2.

Maybe those multiple hour queue times are the result of a bug, that if you re-queue the same map, it dumps you back to the beginning of the queue?

Follow up: After going to Lion’s Arch on my home world (instead of overflow), I could buy plenty of new items (full level 75 green sets of armor, weapons and jewelry) and they would show up right away. The missing 3 accessories are still not there, 3 hours later.

Reporting the same problem. I just bought 3 level 75 accessories, the silver got subtracted from my balance but nothing showed up for pickup or under transactions.

When clicking the buy button no confirmation message appeared and the buy button stayed greyed out for a few seconds. But I only clicked buy once.

When using the trading post for buying I was in the Mount Maelstrom zone. I then ported to Lion’s Arch and restarted the game, but still the items do not show up. I need them now, not when I’m level 80 tomorrow. :P
