lol the paranoia about spies etc. Its probably just someone on your own server wanting the achievement points. I was with a small roaming group and we waked into a camp with over 20 balistas, 2 catas, and who knows how many AC’s, all that siege placed wasnt just for defending the camp.

When anet decided to give rewards for achiement points, and throw siege weapons onto the TP then this is what can be expected. Yes its wasting valuable supply, and its most likely people who dont care about wvw that are wasting your supply, and there is, unfortunatly, nothing you can do about it because anet has decided that siege is the new meta for the game and even those who dont play wvw now have access to it freely.

Dont think anyone on any server wants viz as a matchup. Its dull boring fights all the way. You guys can play your points game as much as you like but, thanks to anet, alot of servers have now had the “pleasure” of seeing how you play and how bad you really are. There is a merit and and estime that goes with being the “top” server, you have neither of those. “My” Frenchies dont play like that, and thanks to being on AR my guild has alot more respect now for french players…..vive AR

This is a jumping puzzle, that is no longer a true part of wvw, as a result this should be put in the PVE section of the forums and not the wvw section. It was great to finally see this JP moved from wvw so that more people could actually get into the EB and play wvw rather than have 30 people running around in a JP…. You wont be in T1 for much longer, and basing your ideas on only a months play in what has been a stale match up for at least 6 weeks is a little short sighted.

The siege situations that you describe existed in the past, great defense put up during intense battles in T1, these skilled defenders didnt require buffed up siege. Battles didnt revolve around who could build siege faster, they revolved around groups of indivuduals using tactics against each other and fighting each other.

You left the game before SFR became the best fighting server, the server that was able to produce the most fighting units with great tactics, siege was only a part of the game. You came back to a server that suffered enormously from the free transfers and all the best organised guilds gone, the fact you can map hop in primetime just goes to show how badly your server has suffered.

This won’t stop zergs, it will encourage them even more. Say a full supplied small raid of 20 hits a trap, lets say a trap effects10 people, thats 50% of that small raids offensive power lost and only 100 supply left. For the zerg of 50, lets say only 40 have supply, zerg hits a trap, 25% of the offensive power is lost but the zerg still has 300 supply and can still build enough siege to take a tower or keep.

So for people to actually be sure to have enough supply in with them to actually attack anything they are going to need to have the numbers. Smaller raids will find themselves starved of supply, constantly having to flip camps and dodge invisible traps even before they can think about attacking something. The bigger the zerg the more supply they will have and the effects of these traps will be alot less significant.

If these traps are supposed to reduce the zergs then it simply wont work.

Lovely reply, full of hypothetical if and buts (i would be surfing, they probably dont have decent ping etc etc etc). Trying to cover up something you dont actually know about and cant. My point was that troma said something that no one can possibly say is true or not true except possibly anet. “99% of our server is EU based”.

In all likelyhood you have players from all zones in the world. To say you only have french speakers on your server is probably the picture you have from your own ts servers, listening to the people who speak. As No.1 server you have no doubt “pugs” following from outside the EU, just because you are No1 and bandwagonners love being on No1. This is not your fault and I’m not saying it is.

If one thing your post proves that the possiblities for your “100% based french speaking” server are extemely far reaching. As for the current situation in T1 being the fault of VZ server i would totally disagree, its the fault of Anet. The work that GC have done to organise the server is admirable and no one can doubt the server pride you have. My only worry is this statement “I will always think about my server in the first place”. Your server pride may be getting in the way of the overall bigger picture. My advice would be to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, is the current T1 situation really good for your server? If this situation continues what will happen to the community that you have worked so hard to build? What should anet do?

As No1 server VZ has the responsability to also look at the game as a whole and not just your own server. Nombrilisme is dangerous.

Just a point to Troma. You say that 99% of VZ is EU based, and that you have no members from canada and australia. That is not true, if you didnt know it thats fine but dont go making statements saying that all your wvw players are EU based and just play at 3AM in the morning. La réunion, for example, you have players from this island which is well outside of EU timezones, and dont come back and tell me that you dont, there is even a gw2 gaming community site which can easily be found using Google where they specifically state the play on your server.

Its probably the same for all the DOM-TOM islands around the world which also are not Mainland EU based (they are defacto members of the EU but no where near based here, maybe you were just trying to play with words). Please dont use the argument that you do not have overseas coverage on your server, its easy to check.

Do you really belive what you wrote. It is the people who run smaller guilds who should be the most worried about this, your days of ninja are gone. Consider that alot of the larger more established guilds have put an awful lot of effort into figuring out what builds to run, the armors, the foods, the synergy and do so after every single update. Kindness to these people is often forgotten as alot of the so called scrubs rush to the internet to find these builds.

However, your post has some hope, you say you dont like using siege, neither do we. Each and every time an update has arrived people have studied it to see how exactly it will effect the playstyle we have, we therfore adapt. All the updates have been a major anticlimax, this arrowcart build totally threw wvw on its head, its not normal to have so many major wvw guilds all agreeing at the same time about something, if you havent seen that something is amiss with this update then you need to look again closely.

Devon and the others have allready said that they are looking into this, we are still waiting to see what happens next.

@dodforer. Sorry i was Under the impression that this was a game. I had a quick read through some of those dusty history books that i have. I saw no mention of asuran siege golems anywhere, and the only place where i can see arrowcarts firing at a faster rate than an uzi sub machine gun is in some wonderfully made (but make believe) chinese films…nope i dont need lessons on history.

Zergs dominate an area when you let them do it. A smaller, better skilled and tactically aware force can beat a mindless zerg anytime, and without the use of siege. This has been proven by many organised guilds in gw2 and also many times in history (for a recent example read Pegasus bridge). When something so obviously unbalanced is bought into the game it is only right that people question the reasons why this was done. If your enjoyment is to sit Inside towers for hours and wait for people to attack then you are probably extrememly happy with this update.

As for “many noteworthy guilds”, somehow you yourself have restricted that to only a few. Maybe i should have used “a zerg of guilds” for i mean just that. All points of view, should be added into the testing of new updates before they are unleashed upon us. That is common sense.

Thanks for finally replying. Even though your reply leaves me with more questions than answers its a good start.

Just a few points.

1) People were allready using ballistas and catas to destroy siege before the update. This is therefore not new tactic to people who play wvw for hours and hours everyday. A simple example would be the use of ac and ballistas to destroy the trebs in garrison (on the cliff) which treb the bay walls, or using ballistas on outer hills wall to clear the inner. There are many more examples of instances where siege is used to destroy other siege. Players didnt need this AC update to do that allready. Oh and moving out the way when siege is falling on our heads…did you really say that?

2) Having arrowcarts control an area through damage is fair enough. Having those arrowcarts dominate an area so much that nothing or no one can survive is not really what you are aiming for i believe. The balance should be players and siege holding a door/wall breach and not only a few players on siege.

3) Holism (Holistic) – the theory that certain wholes are to be regarded as greater than than the sum of their parts. While you are undergoing your review of siege please do not forget that the players of this game are an integral part of the whole. Without the players there is no game. Please consult more with us. There are many noteworthy guilds with extremely competant leaders who would be more than willing to help you test and finalise certain parts of updates.

While i personally am happy to see that you are going to undertake certain changes to the latest update quickly it still saddens me that you are develpoing the game to be more and more siege orientated. Keep a balance, let us fight.

Adapt or die. Couldnt agree more, each update has forced the organise guilds/better non alligned players to adapt. The consumable nerf, skill changes, removing culling, after each update adaptations were made, new builds thought up, new armor bought/made. Yep alot of effort went into adapting just to make sure that we could keep fighting.

This latest update isnt a case of changing builds or taking the time to do that nasty pve stuff to get new armor. This update has totally changed the way wvw is played. As stated before, you now need no skill, no build, no armor (yep i tried naked arrowcartin..kinky), even a level 1 character can just pop down an ac in an open field fight, or sit on one in a tower. Why bother to even learn how to play your profession correctly.

This is not what wvw was. It is what wvw has become, siege wars. Press 3 buttons (or if you are lazy 1 will do) and no other effort required. Easy mode with a vengeance.

Use gold to buy siege? Never done that, just use badges….so next patch they will probably do away with those too. Oh and its pretty simple to get alot of siege from the jp if you do it as a guild and on a few chars, so expect to see blueprint rewards go pretty fast too.

Then they could up the prices of siege, lets say 1g for a cart, 3 for a treb, 10 for a golem, and yes people would have to start paying real cash to play wvw and use siege. Thats if there was anyone left playing at all…..

2 days to evaluate this isnt enough time? Took me 10 mins…seriously. Oh and for info…the new AC buff gives them further ranger than catas…put them on the hill and they can still be got…no need to treb anymore.

Take a few weeks to decide if you like, you will probably come to the same conclusions. Even the siege lovers have got to see how unbalanced this is..

Give it a couple of weeks? No..why should we give it a couple of weeks? We have been waiting months for some decent updates to wvw and now we get this diamond that will go down in the annals of gaming history.

I thought i would go try test this arrowcart buff. The perfect opportunity came when we were attacked at hills by about 20 people attacking the wall with catas. Built 1 normal ac and took down the catas in Under 1min, caused enough dps to the attackers to let our 10 defenders jump out an wipe them. Got 12 bags on that 1 cart….and i dont even have all the buffs we can get from trait lines.

Now some of you would think that brilliant, i dont. It was boring. Wvw will now become that, only being able to take undefended towers/keeps. No skirmishing, Sieges will take even longer (and in T1 we could be talking days). Unskilled, unorganised defenders with a few AC’s will just rule the battlefields. If you want to take anything you are going to have to blob which is something that most of us dont want to do.

Wxp, karma, siegerazer…really dont care at all about that. Give me balanced fights, thats all I ask.

Oh what? Ok lets flash build those Ac’s and clear the siege….ahh right the siege Inside the tower is manned allready because there is a 30s delay on crosses… so your flash build is gonna die, especially when there are 3/4 carts throwing down a hail of OP fire at you, you may even lose some of your builders.

The rest is assumptions on your part, you assume they are going to buff other siege, if they had thought things through properly they would have done that at the same time!!! If you want to hide in towers behind ever more powerful siege thats great, but alot of people dont want to do that, they want to fight.

Who cares about Wxp? Really? Adding it for killing siege is like so “wow”. Wxp means nothing, As for the “quality of life” fixes…thats unfortunate for you, but siege should despawn after a few hours automatically. As it is, this great update makes it possible for one piece of siege to last the whole week, which is just ridiculous.

So in conclusion…Devon and company have made a right custard out of this update.

From what i can read we really have two sides, the “we love siege and the AC buff is the best thing since siegerazer”, and the others who" want to fight each other". Im on the fighting side, siege for me is more like pve.

This AC buff has just ruined the wvw aspect of the game for me. All it seems to have done is to encourage people to sit Inside keeps and towers and wait for an enemy to attack. So what will happen? Well, people will stop attacking, knowing they have little or no chance of getting to the lords room (which will probably also be full of siege).

So the people who want to fight will just stop playing wvw, leaving the people who want to siege with nothing to do except wait on an AC for nobody to come. Yep, Anet this is probably one of the best ways to have destroyed wvw. Niether side of the argument can really be happy with this.

You will be left with stagnant maps, no fights, nothing to do. When you promised a major pvp environment we all thought you meant it. Infact what you have created with this last update is a joke, one that the gaming community will remember for a long time.

We have hoped for several months that Anet would finally start “improving” the wvw content. Instead we have this. My full congratulations to all the devs involved in this, maybe you should actually play wvw a little.

Some really good ideas, some not so good, some rather trivial. The Devs wont listen, unfortunatly after all this time each update has ignored what the players of the wvw format want which is competitive fights.

The latest update is yet another huge disappointment. I get the impression that however good the ideas that come from forum writers/fans of how to improve the wvw format anet will just ignore them. I and many others have given up hope that anet will see sense and make some real changes that will have a positive effect upon wvw and how it is played.

Great fun last night on RoJ BL. Our outmanned force managed to hold of the RoS attempts to get garrison for quite some time, great fights, fun times. Thanks to all on all sides and gz to the player you finally got world completion!

We came here looking for those kinds of fights, and despite what you may think about us, alot of our players started on low Tier servers and know exactly what to expect, its one of the reasons why we moved here. The massive blobs that exist in T1 are tbh vey depressing, we are a social guild too and enjoy playing together, this wasnt possible in T1 anymore, this is possible now.

Who said sfr were the No1 server in EU…. only SRF? By right that place goes to viz, thay have won more Top tier fights than any other server since the startof this game and they have never dropped into tier 2, i really hate to say this about the french but its got to be admitted, they are still No1. They hide in keeps etc..you mother was a hamster…but still going strong.

As for your love of sfr that cannot be denied by your post…..keep on eating RG, gives you Wind.

Say what you like about Iron on this forum, most of you know nothing as you have never had the fortune to have seen or be led by their commanders. Big shout to them all.

I cannot speak for VoTF as a whole, only Anue can do that, but i can just simply repeat what another member, Rhino, said before, we love being here on Deso.

Well lets see, this post was started on some 2 weeks ago, and people are still getting the same mistakes. As the Dev asked im on deso bl, cant even log in to the game although i was fine up until about 1hr before reset today when i got kicked from bloodtide coast.

As a WvW player i experience the usual lag etc that still hasnt been fixed (and has been mentioned in about a thousand posts that you seemed to have just ignored), and now i see it has started to happen i pve areas. Nice.

The April fools joke is over, ive been playing this game since the very first beta weekend and the game has never been this unplayable, i even bought a new computer just so that i would be able to play the game in all its full technicolor glory, unfortunatly its turning into a technicolor fail, bigtime.

After waiting on a loading screen into heart of the mists for 15 minutes i now have the lovely error code that our dev wanted…its the same as the ones allready written in this post, bout time you did something about it!!!! As stated before its been over 2 weeks since this problem was first written about in the forums.

Fix the problem or at least tell us what actions you are trying to do, or that we should do to fix it.
