People have been trying to do something like this since 2012. Why are you causing trouble for people who want to help a pretty neglected part of the game so it will keep them here in GW2? They’re involving all servers in the discussion; not just a selfish T1-2 group, which is a breathe of fresh air. You were kicked out; and from your attitude and choice to post here makes it definitely deserved. It’s easier and more productive to not have trolls hindering progress.

It’s open to guild leaders and representatives who WvW to discuss WvW suggestions and opinions (thank you for this contribution to help recruit for the group), not a chat for what you viciously and continuously called everyone in it earlier (hint, starts with c and not cat if you can’t remember) when they don’t agree with your opinion. Like above, there is such a thing as too many cooks in the kitchen which is why it’s not public yet.

The site and discussions prove the group is definitely not trying to push Anet into doing anything that hasn’t been given thought and discussion, but just to approach them with ideas (if you ever cared to participate in discussions and read what you missed overnight like the rest of us). They want to do this right and not rush into it. And, EU servers knew about this…again.. if you cared to read, and what Seasniffer said above.

It’s trolls and a*sholes like you that ruin the WvW community because you go on power trips and stomp your feet when it doesn’t go your way. You bought the TS3 (though it’s safe to say you did it so people would consider your obnoxious opinions of trying to discredit people who actually care about the server and state of game a little higher than a grain of your vile salt) for the community and abused your power. Congrats, FLOT 2.0. I’m glad you were removed before it blew up worse…but you just chose to come here instead. Please do continue on your tirade though, it fits you and all I know about your behavior in guilds you can’t seem to stay in. You have to pay for this cheap entertainment in some places.

As for Sea and Ocx guilds..well lets be honest as far as I have seen they really don care at all.

Maybe these people would like to come out and openly express some of the ideas they have on wvw before the rest of the community before trying to push ANET into foolhardy choices based upon a small minority viewpoint.

To those who are saying that “amulets reduce variety” i’d say that you are wrong. At the moment once you are in wvw and have farmed all your gear you have no way of changing without going back and re farming all the “new” things you want. You are stuck with 2 maybe 3 viable builds that you can run. With an amulet system you could change in a matter of seconds, allowing you alot more freedom and adaptability to different situations.

Thats the beauty of Ascended…little/no grinding as you can change the stats. People can also buy exo if they needed and asc is not as difficult to make as some people may think. With an amulet system you can’t fully “mix and match”. If I want 2 soldiers, 2 valk and 2 zerker stats on my armor alone, and I can’t due to the ammy system, thats restricting my build,. thus reducing diversity of builds but not allowing mixing/matching stats, even tho its not min/maxing, as a thoerycrafter, sometime sits about min maxing but finding fun builds that can work. Thats what makes WvW better for a thoerycrafter as its the only place to really test a full potential of any build vs actual players (aside from guild arena ofc but playing vs the same ppl over and over gets boring)

I don’t think you actually read what I wrote. If you read my whole post I do state I’m against having base armor like in pvp. In wvw players should have the choice over what armor piece stats they want aswell as weapons, exactly as we do at the moment. In my opinion the amulet should only cover the trinkets, rings, backpack and accessories. This would therefore leave you with over 6,000,000,000 stat choice variations (including runes and sigils).

It’s true that some “cheese” builds or overpowered builds simply won’t be viable anymore. WvW is a game mode that has suffered over the passed few years due to the powercreep and skill imbalance. Whilst not a perfect solution a wvw amulet would help ease some of those problems whilst at the same time allowing the variety of builds needed by allowing players to chose individual armor and weapon stats as is the case at the moment.

I think its wrong to use the pvp style base armor for everyone in wvw. Each individual should be able to choose the armor stats they wish for. therefore the armor (and weapons) should be “farmed” in the same way as we do at the moment. This would allow some extra build variety, for example, allowing for nomad guardians and beserker guardians.

The “WvW” amulet should be there to replace the rings, trinkets, accessories and backpiece only. These are amulets for wvw and should be designed as such, not adaptations from pvp. I agree that runes, sigils and even wvw infusions should also be based upon the pvp system.

The percieved reaction of removal of variety is simply a kneejerk reaction to change based upon flawed arguments. Real build variety and adaptability can only be achieved by having a system where it takes seconds to change not by having the current system where it takes hours of farming pve to change. Even with an amulet system in place there would be still over 6,000,000,000 different variations to choose from (if players were allowed to choose both armor and weapon stats as they wished and mix as they wished as per the current system).

Having a wvw amulet may also have for benefit of helping with skill balance. At a minimum it would help the skill balance devs alot more.

Most fundementally game changing update that ANET has done since they buffed siege and brought in masteries! This is was we were all screaming for!

Thanks to McKenna for the reply, some kind of communication concerning these “full” servers is appreciated.

So, if i’m reading right, these servers are not actually “full” compared to numbers that were previously used for determining this. However, due to population loss in wvw in general it has now been decided to change the numbers needed to make a server full.

Would it not be a better idea to address the loss of wvw population rather than adjust the numbers? By lowering population limits ANET has admitted (finally) that less and less people are playing the game mode.

If ANET think that by closing servers that are not full they are going to balance the populations then they are very deluded. What the game mode needs is some serious LONG TERM efforts not “quick fixes” or "lets try this " ideas.

Got some hot news concerning the end of year party in the anet offices. According to rumours (that have been verified) Gaille Gray spiked the “non alcoholic” punch.

Hence thus the reason why so many servers have been marked as full! The poor work experience person ( the one who is working on wvw developement for anet) who was trying to be so good at the office party got absolutley smashed and was unable to see the numbers…result.. when asked by the big bosses which servers were full, picked 4 servers at random in both EU and NA and said they are full.

1. There are a number of assumptions here about how a scoring system will change matchups. Perhaps we should see what actually occurs.
2. The community stacks certain servers, often out of a sense of who they want to fight. I don’t see that changing considering the people who do this continue to move around.
3. It is almost impossible to coordinate a 2v1 across all time zones for an entire week.
4. Its lunch time and I have thai leftovers.

Complaint about communication

PvP forums and WvW forums are actually very similar. Alot of people, passionate about their game mode, posting, moaning, raging and giving ideas for improvement. There is however 1 huge difference, the PvP devs seem to reply alot, the WvW devs hardly ever. This has become to be a norm for all wvw’ers. So much so that it is now an idea that ANET doesnt care about wvw or the players that play this game mode.

I can only figure that we as wvw’ers must have insulted the devs in such a way that they no longer feel they want to communicate with us. So I decided to say sorry.

It was discussed a while ago mainly favourably.

Where was this discussed morrolan.9680 ? Could you find me the post or include some Dev feedback that was mentioned? Maybe it was just the 20 or so people that reply on these forums on a regular basis that discussed it, that certainly does not ecompass the players or deserve a comment that “we and the players wanted to try”.

This idea may appeal to the minority of people who read these forums but that does not in any way constitute a basis for saying that it is us the players who wanted this, that is untrue and misleading. " we and a small minority of players who chatted about this on the forums" would be a more accurate description. Anet has lost touch with the wvw player base, this change along with other recent changes just show that.

Whatever. More importantly in the patch notes it says “this is a change that we and the players wanted to try….”. What players? Who? This line in the patch notes just appears to be anet trying to continue the idea of player participation in wvw development when infact this doesn’t exist. Cannons were bought in after a vote, but the cannons had allready been developed so the vote was a farce. This “player” involement doesnt exist.

Still waiting to see what the full updates show but if this is it then its yet another middle finger pointed straight at all the wvw players from anet.

To see anet finally putting in split skills is a great thing and something that most of us greatly appreciate. To see them ignore wvw during those split skill changes is something that, unfortunatly, alot of us wvw players have become used too. PVP first …wvw right at the bottom of the pile.

This is a bug. If you have the cold resistance buff from the new map you cant solo cap things. Anet have been informed. Best suggestion is to file a bug report to anet and hope they get it fixed (or not go into the new map).

WvW Capture Ring Not Functioning

Just checked and it is definatly the Cold Resistance Buff that is preventing capping (tried on 2 toons one with the buff and one without, the one with the buff was unable to cap things in wvw).

Please fix this as soon as possible. Although tbh as it affects wvw it will probably get fixed in 18 months time.

The only thing Anet can do is realise they made a bad mistake, accept it and then reverse the transfers that happened onto BG, refunding those players that transfered.

Blackgate and Jade Quarry both opened because they were below the population cap. Blackgate currently has a smaller population than Jade Quarry and some of the combined linked worlds populations (combined linked worlds population example being Crystal Desert + Darkhaven + Devona’s Rest combined has a higher population than Blackgate). With all that being said, we do keep track of the transfers that happen. Since we have been seeing an increase in transfer behavior with the past 2 world links, we are discussing whether we want to change how we calculate WvW world populations or if we want to lower the WvW population caps.

Looking at this weeks matchup. Do you still believe that Blackgate has less of a population that JQ? Time to get that discussion rolling quickly and take some action.

Clearly BG being opened for transfers was a mistake. ANET should say sorry and refund those that moved during this period and send them back to the servers they came from.

If ANET wishes to create some form of balance then it needs to act, otherwise T1 NA is going to become the place where no one wants to be, players, guilds even servers will take the week off if they get a T1 matchup.

NA World Linking 28 October

TC was full on the linking before this one and still got a server link. Now they weren’t full and they got none. So what is the diference now? There is no logic besides the one we were talking about

The logic is that both times (this linking and the last one) the three top rated servers (thus theoretically tier 1 servers) didn’t get a link. This has been done after the feedback from the community that thought it is unfair for 1 of the top 3 servers having a link and others having none, even if arenanet though it needed to balance out the “over the limit”-activity of full servers I just explained.
The matchmaking-system just didn’t put the top 3 servers in tier 1 this time.

Maguuma are 2nd rated server and got a link, they have been one of the top 3 ranked servers for over 2 months now. JQ (although full) have spent most of the last two months as a tier 2 server (ranked 4th or 5th). TC and YB have been swapping the 3rd ranked spot over the last two months with YB spending most of the time as 3rd ranked team (only piteous performances in the last few weeks have made them drop).

Anet doesnt have any logic in these linkings.

If you are not happy with the cannons then i suggest that you join the many guilds and regular wvw players in simply not playing until they are removed.

This is definalty in the Top 3 of the worst things anet has done for wvw since launch. Its a poorly thought out idea. Clearly someone said “lets try portable cannons” the reply came “ok, ill design the cannon” yet no one thought about what the cannon would actually do. Its as if the ANET team didnt play wvw (which they do).

Are none of the more regular wvw playing Devs actually able to stand up in the ANET offices and say “ERRR Guys and Gals, these cannons that you just put into the game…they might need a bit of adjustment”? What is clear to most wvw players seems to go over the heads of the people developing the game. It doesnt need a poll or player input, it simply needs some common sense from developers.

Im just gonna forget wvw until these cannons are removed from the game or at least toned down in their capacity. Im not the only one doing that at the moment.

I have been told that it is not the size that counts but more the way you play it.

Clearly, being big, your pushes will go further gaining some immediate effect however you leave some parts untouched and pushing too far can cut off your backline leaving them without any real care and feeling left out.

If you are too small you find yourself unable to fill all the gaps when attacking something larger than yourself. Although being able to slide inwards and pick off small pieces it will leave alot of unsatisfaction for yourself and for the group you are fighting.

If you have a well formed medium sized one and you know what to do with it then that is probably perfect.

It may take a little while for the wvw community to realise that all thses polls and discussions that you are having with us at the moment are actually being worked on. Lets see how this plays out. Maybe a 10 min tick will work out better but who knows???

ANET needs tp create a badge that all can see for the WvW ranks (not just the enemy) so that the people who feel the need to show off the rank that they have can feel better, although maybe that needs to be done when the rest is sorted out.

Remove T3 Walls and Doors

Right now I think there is too much emphasis on defense and flipping T1/T2 upgraded things, to the point that guilds just won’t go on the offensive on a borderland if it has T3 upgrades in their third during a prime time.

Between the defensive siege advantage, which already makes it very difficult to take an objective, the large amount of extra time it takes to break a t3 wall or door, and the broken speedy-yak resupply times feeding keeps, it just makes WvW very stale right now.

It’s a lot more fun for all balanced servers when you can go and break into their keep and fight them for it, or when they do the same to you. Or if you are outnumbered and sneaky, you can quickly hit a keep to try to ninja it.

Suggestion:
Remove T3 wall/gate upgrades from keeps that aren’t in your third. Eg, on BGBL, BG can get T3 walls/gates on their garrison, but not hills or bay. SMC should also not get T3 walls/gates.

Insta capping, insta flipping and easy mode k-training are what needs to go. So you got your things backwards. Also, the problem of your specific server / guild is your specific problem.

On my server anything that becomes T3, especially with a waypoint, becomes a major target to go after. T1 and T2 objectives take 2nd priority.

T3 structures provide fights and action and so do speedy yaks. We have had major battles over supply camps because of this. If your server / guild doesn’t pay attention and misses out, then that is on you and them, not the game.

There we go…the reply of a siege hugger who wants wvw to remain stale and hide in his/her T3 structures and never fight. I want things to flip , I do not want 5 people on siege to be able to delay a whole zerg for an hour or more, I do not want people to be able to call in a zerg using emergency wp, I do not want a whole BL to remain T3 for a whole week cause the enemy have stuffed so much siege inside every objective and so many of the new tactivs than no one can even be bothered to attack.

Forget you and your darn idea of WvW defense at all costs. Forget you and your idea that PPT can be held by 5 people on AC’S. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. YOUR IDEA OF WVW IS A FAILURE. NOONE and I MEAN NOONE like the fact thjat you can spent 1HR breaking down an objective and get wiped at the call of an EWP. NO ONE likes the way that shield gens are way too ap and should be removed from the game and NOONE lilke odiots that will sit on ac’s all day protecting stuff and then moan on forums when they lose a keep.

FORGET your vocal minority on these forums cause its over. Anet should just ignore you all. Fot the past 18 months we have seen so many posts claiming for defense defense defense and the wvw population has gone down down and down…

Its time for a change….

LOLOLOLOL if you can’t snake a T3 keep or tower you and your group are bad. Not just bad, real bad.

Forget you and your Ktrain spam 1 and run from objective to objective. Forget your vocal minority who want to run in circles face rubbing empty objectives. Forget your 20 people should cap a tower defended by 5 people until help shows up. Your idea of WvW is a failure. If you want to just flip things EotM sounds like your thing.

I love the emergency WP by the way. As soon as I see that pulled I bomb the WP and collect my bags.

The only thing that I can agree with you on is shield generators. Those can go.

I dont play EOTM. I play on a server that is unable to form a group of 25+ in the timezone i play. Do i want to run in circles capping stuff…NO I DO NOT. I would however like the opporunity that a group of 10 people hiding inside a keep on siege cannot stop a small group from taking an objective and are therefore forced to come out and fight (which is why we attack objectives in the first place).

Your idea is wrong because all you are thinking about is defending your “precious” without actually fighting, no skilled siege huggers like yourself are the ones that should go off to EOTM.

Funny how people like to state that the enemy no matter what situation outnumber them. If you really want YOUR PRECIOUS CAP so much maybe you should coordinate with the commanders on other maps to hit a high value objective the same time that you do. Is that too much trouble for you?

Your idea is wrong because all you are thinking about is capping your precious without fighting, no skilled blobbers like yourself are the ones that should stay in EotM.

Errr not sure you can read but to recap…we dont have a blob…..cause my server doesnt have the numbers in the TZ i play to do that. As for co ordination with other commanders…the commander I follow is normally the only tag on all 4 maps. You are looking at things from YOUR blob serverpoint of view and not realising that it isnt the case on other servers.

As stated, its NOT to take objectives easier, but to force those siege hugging defenders to actually come out and fight.

Every time you call a defender a siege hugger I will kill 5 of your zerglings trying to get back to the blob. This is just the start.

Right now I think there is too much emphasis on defense and flipping T1/T2 upgraded things, to the point that guilds just won’t go on the offensive on a borderland if it has T3 upgrades in their third during a prime time.

Between the defensive siege advantage, which already makes it very difficult to take an objective, the large amount of extra time it takes to break a t3 wall or door, and the broken speedy-yak resupply times feeding keeps, it just makes WvW very stale right now.

It’s a lot more fun for all balanced servers when you can go and break into their keep and fight them for it, or when they do the same to you. Or if you are outnumbered and sneaky, you can quickly hit a keep to try to ninja it.

Suggestion:
Remove T3 wall/gate upgrades from keeps that aren’t in your third. Eg, on BGBL, BG can get T3 walls/gates on their garrison, but not hills or bay. SMC should also not get T3 walls/gates.

Insta capping, insta flipping and easy mode k-training are what needs to go. So you got your things backwards. Also, the problem of your specific server / guild is your specific problem.

On my server anything that becomes T3, especially with a waypoint, becomes a major target to go after. T1 and T2 objectives take 2nd priority.

T3 structures provide fights and action and so do speedy yaks. We have had major battles over supply camps because of this. If your server / guild doesn’t pay attention and misses out, then that is on you and them, not the game.

There we go…the reply of a siege hugger who wants wvw to remain stale and hide in his/her T3 structures and never fight. I want things to flip , I do not want 5 people on siege to be able to delay a whole zerg for an hour or more, I do not want people to be able to call in a zerg using emergency wp, I do not want a whole BL to remain T3 for a whole week cause the enemy have stuffed so much siege inside every objective and so many of the new tactivs than no one can even be bothered to attack.

Forget you and your darn idea of WvW defense at all costs. Forget you and your idea that PPT can be held by 5 people on AC’S. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. YOUR IDEA OF WVW IS A FAILURE. NOONE and I MEAN NOONE like the fact thjat you can spent 1HR breaking down an objective and get wiped at the call of an EWP. NO ONE likes the way that shield gens are way too ap and should be removed from the game and NOONE lilke odiots that will sit on ac’s all day protecting stuff and then moan on forums when they lose a keep.

FORGET your vocal minority on these forums cause its over. Anet should just ignore you all. Fot the past 18 months we have seen so many posts claiming for defense defense defense and the wvw population has gone down down and down…

Its time for a change….

LOLOLOLOL if you can’t snake a T3 keep or tower you and your group are bad. Not just bad, real bad.

Forget you and your Ktrain spam 1 and run from objective to objective. Forget your vocal minority who want to run in circles face rubbing empty objectives. Forget your 20 people should cap a tower defended by 5 people until help shows up. Your idea of WvW is a failure. If you want to just flip things EotM sounds like your thing.

I love the emergency WP by the way. As soon as I see that pulled I bomb the WP and collect my bags.

The only thing that I can agree with you on is shield generators. Those can go.

I dont play EOTM. I play on a server that is unable to form a group of 25+ in the timezone i play. Do i want to run in circles capping stuff…NO I DO NOT. I would however like the opporunity that a group of 10 people hiding inside a keep on siege cannot stop a small group from taking an objective and are therefore forced to come out and fight (which is why we attack objectives in the first place).

Your idea is wrong because all you are thinking about is defending your “precious” without actually fighting, no skilled siege huggers like yourself are the ones that should go off to EOTM.

The alternative option is to have both Alpine and Desert Borderlands running simultaneously. Even the way the question is asked goes to show how the devs really want to cling on to something that the everyday player refused, who can blame them, its alot of work for nothing.

Wow, as per usual the siege huggers, those that just hide behind walls and build more and more sige, jump down on a post that calls for more open fighting..

oh my, nooooo my precious…bunch of golems that you are. The small but extemely vocal minority on these forums has influenced ANET to the point that defending has become way to easy.

WvW needs to be alot more fluid, we dont need 5 guys, with armour and traits made specially, sitting on ac’s and siege and blocking a group of 20. NO and STOP to this. This kind of attitude makes wvw boring and stupid.

Oh yeah you can turn on the “oh its a ktrain” button whenever you like knowing that that works and that automatically ANET will get scared. Well NO and NO and NO again. You wanna defend something? bring the people to fight the groups..or fight them yourselves. Get OFF that siege which has been way boosted compared to when this game started.

Enough is enough of these no skill defenders who jump on siege and use all the boosts ANET has given them….its time for a change..and make it a radical one.

We are also considering adjusting links more than once a quarter. There are some pros and cons to this, but assuming World Linking wins the current poll, we could poll on adjusting the re-link rate.

I dont understand a few things:

Q: Having more variaty in allies and oponotents, how can that be a good thing, have your guys noticed what that implies access to the TS server, passwords, give access etc??

Q: How this would make players less to bandwagon?

Q: How world population became more stable, would change server option be removed????

Your server, whichever it may be, is clearly using a very antiquated system for verification etc. I would suggest that you ask your coms admins to look into solutions that are readily available to them to overcome this.
