It probably makes me a terrible person but if I had a program that would run the winter jump puzzle for me in a way that’s only really detectable if you do it over and over I would SERIOUSLY consider firing it off three times so I’d have the pleasure of complaining about 10,000 drinks to get the snow-aura shoulders.

Cause right now I’m not even in the running .

Is CDI a dead thing

Could any of the developers maybe add a new notification to the website in order to indicate whether a dev or anyone else from the staff has opened a topic? I can fully understand that devs can’t respond in every topic, but without a response people have no idea whether their input is read by any staff member or whether they are just talking to their own community. A notification or visual emblem next to a topic might resolve this problem.

It would be nice if there were an indicator pointing out that the specialists had posted in a thread, too! We each have specializations, and we post a lot in the most popular topics associated with the things we cover, but right now those replies sometimes get lost.

I am fairly confident, though, that not a single great suggestion that was met with high public agreement has gone unmentioned by me in my reports on topics I cover. Sometimes I even get into conversations with developers in-game where they ask for clarification on what was meant, or things to that effect. Ultimately, I can guarantee the developers are seeing the suggestions that are most prevalent and most widely supported throughout these forums.

I would suggest you and the other reps get together and settle on a unified tagging scheme in thread titles so us poor peasant readers can find you. Something as simple as always putting [PvP rep] or [WvW rep] at the start of your thread titles would make it a million times easier to pick you out of the background noise when skimming topic names looking for something to read.

Both my team (EN (2), FR, DE and ES) and our Forum Specialists do gather and share suggestions with the developers, yep.

And it all happens INVISIBLY, which is an unbelievable waste of opportunity to build community goodwill.

Your feedback loops suck. Period. Full stop. If you’d post even a weekly highlights roundup or something, point out things that caught your eye even if they will never specifically be acted on, it would be a huge boon to keeping the boards to a low simmer instead of boiling over with frustration.

Not that I know of. It’s possible that could happen, but at the current time there are plans to communicate through other means, including forum posts from team members or on behalf of a team and of course on our official website, in the “news” section. (The “news” is really a blog, and that’s where a lot of info goes. Once posted, forum members invited to share their thoughts here on the topic at hand.)

You actually mean ‘on reddit’, right? because that’s the only place anyone’s seen anyone from ArenaNet except you (and the API developer) for months now…

As Qugi suggested, calling it a CDI can be confusing, but you’re welcome to initiate or join a thread on any topic you’d like to discuss.

Which isn’t even a pale shadow of a CDI. Its almost an unrelated concept compared to a thread hosted, guided, and read and responded to every day by a Developer with the ability to drive in-game results on that topic.

So answer the question any and every game designer is gonna ask: what to you intend to replace all the traits, signets, and runes you just obsoleted with?

Speed exists in this game, it has considerable value, and it’s achievable at considerable cost. How do you see mounts fitting into that other than as a pure gimme that wrecks a considerable number of systems?

Nike.2631

An entire world with no mounts for player NOR NPC’s is just too unrealistic. Every civilization has used them and yet Tyria can’t figure out how to tame a few? How dumb are these inhabitants?

Dumb enough to have site-to-site teleports that require only a tiny piece of self-contained hardware at the receiving end. Yeah, every day I’m on the road I wish we were that dumb. Our mounts (cars) seem absolutely brilliant by comparison… Not.

You might want to start over completely on your ‘realism’ argument. It doesn’t go where you think it does .

Suggestion: Release a Black Lion mount in a similar timing as the Black Lion Weapon Skins. Each new release will have 1 new mount. Cost: 1700 gems or equivalent.

Suggestion: Runes are a thing. So are speed signets. And Traits. EVERY SINGLE PROFESSION can get a permanent speed buff, but must pay a price for one of the most sought out, most impactful benefits in the game. Decide what you’re willing to give up for it, but don’t expect it to be handed to you in a way that obsoletes all of those existing character options.

No, I’m pretty sure when I’m trying to put together a particular appearance for a character I want the actual tools not the annoyance of wishing I had the tools.

Likewise there’s plenty of content in game I’d like to take on with the best gear possible. I don’t always want to be thinking, “well, I’ll probably have that gear sometime in the next 6-8 weeks…” That kind of ‘anticipation’ doesn’t heighten the experience at all for me.

BDO & MMOs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nike.2631

Nike.2631

I don’t think BDO is going to be all that impressive after the ‘new MMO smell’ wears off.

Themepark MMOs are for the most part built out of single use content. Replayability is marginal and rarely amounts to more than “well, it’ll be a slightly different fight with a different class, but the talky bits change not at all.” GW2’s cardinal sin of this sort is the AMAZING range of early quests that might tempt you to play through the same race 3-4 times (at first) before if become clear how fast the pathways tapper off and soon it becomes ‘all roads lead to Trahearn’.

GW2 does better than most keeping up with the content locusts (and I don’t mean that as a bad thing — we came here to eat a good story and when it runs out folks interest in that aspect should move on). SWtoR is trying to with its new arc (though again the one-story-fits-all plotline murders replayability…). I’m trying to give Wildstar some slack as they re-launch but my patience is wearing thin as they keep NOT advancing the plot (which was to me by far the most interesting part of the property, not the twitch gameplay, overemphasis on raids-as-endgame, or godawful cartooniness of every rock, bush, and critter).

My next big time sink will likely be Star Citizen. Just not much new out there and I’m troubled by the direction GW2’s taken lately.

Does it mean some training around the office? Almost certainly. Do they need to get less barbaric forum software? Yeah, probably. Do they need to ease off on restrictions that are driving their people to not post here? Ya think? There’s room for improvement on a whole bunch of fronts.

Support rarely ever draws a clear line because they’d have various breeds of jerk inching up as close as they can get to the line still being obnoxious (the actual problem) while being able to hide behind the letter of the law.

You understand that he said that it’s you who is viewing it black and white?

Really? My being in agreement that it should be turned over for review by the agents of the owners of the spaces is black and white? I haven’t called for hard and fast rules. I haven’t said ban-or-bust. I’ve done nothing but promote a context-sensitive review knowing full well that deliberately worsening another player’s experience in game will earn that offender something from a whole range of possible punishments.

And I agree with him, you don’t really see this on a larger scale, even tho one could think you are saying smart things cuz you actually have some English skills so you choose to use a bit more complex words and sentences to make your arguments seem stronger – which they really aren’t, they are very subjective.

Sorry, I’ll try to be less persuasive next time.

No, wait. I won’t.

You use too strong words, words that don’t have place in this debate. Sadism, really?

Yes. Really. Were talking about people using the tools available to them to hurt complete strangers for no other reason than to hurt them. That’s SADISM. And if it nets them getting whacked on the nose with a rolled up newpaper, good.

If I poke you, will you tell them I attacked you? Be carefull with words you are choosing and think about real arguments.

If you poke me, I might very well report it. That decision is mine to make, and you should factor it into your thinking before you poke me.

This ones arent really useable because they are on much greater scale which this topic isn’t.

And once again, the people giving offense aren’t the ones who get to make that call if it’s ok. You’d be surprise how slight a contact it takes to merit the term “assault”. You have no right to poke me and IF I take offense, the larger agency of enforcement WILL get involved with real lasting consequences. Here that agency is ANet’s Support team.

Would that categorize pranks as well as form of sadism?

I would say that pranks motivated by a desire to be hurtful are absolutely a form of sadism. The same principle is at work here — Support will almost certainly be reviewing incidents to determine INTENT.

There’s an element of naked callousness at work. This isn’t an interaction with a person you know which opens up the possibility of good natured poking between friends — this is being sprung on complete strangers with no other goal than to be hurtful.

Since it’s so black and white issue I can almost see no difference between deriving pleasure from torturing people and throwing a water filled balloon…

Then I hope you develop the social skills to tell the difference. You’ll probably need them at some point. Because in the real world there are places where pitching a water balloon with be considered fun and others where it’ll get you fired (or worse). Likely with even less opportunity for appeal than here.

All you have to do is complete the jumping puzzle 3 times, and you have until Jan 12….the 10k drinks has been changed so that it can be done until next Wintersday. The jumping puzzle takes around 5-10 mins to complete each time.

For you.

I don’t want it removed. I want there to be slightly more things that contribute to getting it than are needed so we have some choices on what to skip, just like the winterfest meta-achievement, which should have been the chest that drops this item in the first place.
