I’ll just leave this “The Lover” Broker price progression statistic here so you can work on it as a homework.
Right now Anet literally force people to buy gold from 3rd party websites by not addressing the high pre-cursor prices since forever.
Or you could play the game hardcore for about 4 days and get the 300g for it.
Oh you don’t want to play hardcore? But you still want the game’s ultimate cosmetic item? Well, sounds like you have two competing ideas in your head right now. Which one will win?
So in the end, some of my best friends in the game now have their accounts terminated because they helped contribute to making the price of ecto go from 35s to 25s and the price of Mithril Ore go from 24c to 50c.
Forgive me if I don’t find that result to be egregiously damaging to the game economy. As a multitude of others have mentioned, the market reached equilibrium prior to the fix, which is what you’d expect in a healthy market economy. I don’t see how any of that is damaging. So what if the exchange rate of mithril:ecto changed temporarily? There is no free lunch in the economic exchange that people are now banned for; hell, I don’t even think the godskull people were exploiting. Eventually the price of large skulls increased to equilibrium there, too.
The difference between a duping exploit and a market imbalance caused by an undervalued asset is that in market imbalance, equilibrium is reached as the market corrects. When there is a duping exploit, there cannot be a correction as there is infinite supply and the market collapses.
Legendaries were tainted a bit but I think they still meant something. Now that they are on the TP they are meaningless.
You might have a minor point, if they were being bought and sold for relatively trivial amounts. I’m not aware that any of the ones posted thus far have sold, and based on the listed prices I don’t suppose they ever will consider that besides world completion and badges and a trivial amount of karma, you can buy all the mats and precursor for even the most expensive one for under 1200g.
Once you hit the amount of Toughness you need to get the tankiness you want, anything more than that is a waste. So, the question is, does your full Knights set give you all the Toughness you want? If yes, go Berserkers with the remainder. If no, add more Knights until you’re satisfied and then finish with berserkers.
It just shows how pedantic they (ANet) are about their precious TP.
While I agree that Anet is very concerned about the how the game economy interacts with the cash shop, the word ‘pedantic’ does not mean anything resembling the way you’re using it here.
The irony is that me pointing that out is being pedantic.
